  • Want better suspension but know know how to install it? I made this video for you! I know it can be challenging and intimidating to work on and upgrade the new bike you just got, so I made this installation guide to help walk you through the process. BTW soon my review of this fork will be uploaded, so if you're interested in this fork's performance be sure to stick around for future posts! Also I didn't get paid to make this video, in fact Fastace only requested a review video, but I decided to make this on my own.

    I have a set of these on the way and I'm feeling more confident in the swap-out process after watching your tutorial. Oh and you should look at doing voice over work or something in radio. You definitely have the voice for it.

    Interesting to see the evolution of the electric off road bike as it sucks up the best from the motocross and mountain bike worlds as I ride both ICE bikes EV road bikes and Mountain bikes. Interesting to see the motocross tyres and rims on to boost hubs, getting close that tyre to fork clearance but great result with 7th. EV bikes getting better all the time.

    You can buy a bearing grease packer, a little Tupperware type of deal. Plus before putting the bearing on the lower pack it full of grease. I also recommend the Warp 9 Bar Risers with bars the Mtn Bike stuff is hooky.

    Thanks for the video. Helped a lot! At 10:25 you had all your pinch bolts and handlebars loose. You said that tightening it effectively acts like a press. I didn't see your fork tubes move up at all though. Should it? I didn't see mine go up either when I did that, so just curious if I need to go back and loosen the top clamp pinch bolts again and retighten the startnut bolt. Then retighten everything?

    • @haveagoodoneyt
      @haveagoodoneyt  10 месяцев назад +1

      Glad it helped!
      It’ll barely move. The distances were playing with are maybe 1/32nd of an inch so it’s almost impossible to see. Basically what you want to do is tighten it to the point the steering becomes stiff and back it off just enough so the forks pretty much flop from side to side with very little effort.

      I just had to get it done. (Actually I was just in a hurry) Plus I ended up using a Quadlock stem mount instead of that star nut. So far that’s holding everything in place and my phone now mounts securely for navigation

    The Fastace and new Talaria factory forks both come almost ready, which is nice because you don't have to cut them. The main challenge is removing the lower bearing from your old fork because there's a tiny plastic ring under it which probably also has to go on the new fork. You just need a bearing remover, a star nut and star nut presser to do it yourself, then find something like a PVC pipe to push the bearing onto the new fork. Some people buy the regular Surron headset kit from LunaCycle to get a star nut, new bearings, and extra hardware. I used the star nut that came with my new Talaria factory fork, but it didn’t come with the Fastace fork (no big deal) unless it’s otherwise specified or included (in case you need it) and they're the same size. Luna included it for me in the headset kit. Other than that...
    The little plastic bracket I had from my DNM fork (the one that holds the brake hose) doesn’t fit Talaria or fastace forks. Ebikezilla might have it for the Fastace/Talaria factory fork, and it.
    You could also use a zip tie instead.

    • @haveagoodoneyt
      @haveagoodoneyt  Год назад

      Yea, not being able to mount the fender was a bummer. I even mounted it using just two bolts to see if I could get away with it. Turns out there isn’t enough clearance and the wheel bottoms out on the DNM fender now.
      Same here with the brake line bracket. I did the same and just used a couple zip ties.

      @@haveagoodoneyt here is answer from ebikezilla, when I was trying to make a decision, which one I want:
      Hi,
      I have to say that both suspension are the best that you can get stock on these bikes these days. They are both built very strong and can take a lot of abuse.
      On the Fast ace, you get compression and rebound adjustments. On the Talaria Factory, you get the additional pre-load adjustment.
      So if you are a heavy rider, I would lean more towards the Talaria Factory since you can add pre-load to your spring to make them stiffer.
      But anyway, I will do review via my English and Russian language channels.
