@@TheHopelessGeek The belt had melted so I replaced that, but even after that it would only spin for a few seconds, flip the DIR switch and then turn off. Once I cleaned it out with your vinegar/bleach/alcohol solution it started working. I think some of the melted rubber may have been stuck to the gears or something
you're very good and very funny! I'm trying to fix my similar Sony Walkman which doesnt move at all. and i'm out of good double A batteries and out of all the wires i have, the one to plug in electrically is missing! I'll order more batteries and keep trying to take off the back. I'll check that gear and see if the plastic has worn down. too bad you can't get a replacement piece...or maybe you have by now from another old walkman
hi u can fix that walkman u need to put rubber or silicone insulation frm silicon cable to make more friction on small gear wheel or u can make amplifier from walkman
you should find the replacement gear in the local electronics repair stores for cheap.. check the pitch circle diameter of the gear and the number of teeth on it.. looks like it has 60 but not sure though
I've just found and took apart mine wm-2011. Luckily, only the drive belts dissolved due to the long shelf time...but replacement is on the way from China. Anyhow, good video, and good lines...I lasted until the end *insert that's what she said here* Just a hint: If you are just as lazy as I am, and are still procrastinating buying a plastic prying tool, you can run down to the local music store, and buy some guitar picks. Even the metal ones can open up most plastic cases without damage ;)
I still have mine. I'm sure I need a new belt. I dropped it once and then it played fast and everything sounded like the chipmunks. I hit it again and it fixed! ... Long story short though... I found out I could make it switch between fast and normal if I hit it right xD
Nooooo.... you hack the cover and probably break the tabs on the inside casing..... push on the tabs on the inside of the casing you can see when you open the cassette door. You may still break the old and fragile casing tabs, but the outside casing stays in a decent condition.
Clearly you don't even have basic knowledge to tear down such walkman..... Under the belt holder there are scres to open it systematically. How can u say a walkman has all motor inside..... pCB is required for signal processing and motor control. Unless you don't have idea of what capstan, roller pinch and flywheel is pls don't open such gadgets. And hey they are not plastic gears.... They are nylon gears.... And they last more than metal gears. Gears are easily available. Here it not about gears.... The gear lock has come out.

Veo.
This worked thank you so much.
What was wrong with yours? The same plastic gear? 🙂

Ah, great!
Thank you!
Thanks for watching. I had fun opening up this nostalgic gadget 😊
@@TheHopelessGeek yeah so it's insanely difficult to open correctly, if any historians are reading this after we are gone..
😄to think a stupid little plastic gear caused the entire thing to partially stop working. Bad design
I hope you didn't throw it away! Keep it and one day we will have the technology for the repair! :)
I still have it with me!😊

I wasn't able to track one down yet, but maybe I can do something with wax to get it to work.(That's what she said).
I got to know your channel from amkette evo fox review! Haven't left since... Keep it up brotha!
Glad to have you here mate! Your support motivates me to keep going😊✌
Thank you 🎵
😊👍sure thing!

Yeah, if those gears for together well it'll probably work.😁👍
you could see if you can flip the top gear over so the the unworn cogs will mesh with the white gear? js
Hmm, good idea! Why didn't I think of that😅. Maybe because I couldn't get the gear out from its place. I'll try it out.👍🏻🙂

🤔Hmm.. thanks for that suggestion. I'll see if I can get one.✌
Oh, and I'll upload in 4K next time so you can count the number of teeth clearly 😅
@@TheHopelessGeek hehe.. it definitely will help

Ah, thanks for the tips😅
Watch repairers and makers could easly make you a small brass gear for it.
Ah, I think you're right! Thanks 🙂
@@TheHopelessGeek loved the video, hope we get an update with it working.
I'll try to make that happen 🤞🏼
I have same model but volume is too low
I guess the built-in amplifier is pretty weak for modern standards 🤷🏻♂️

😂these old school gadgets really respond to brute force
Sony got cheap by not including screws on this device!
😅I guess so.
good attempt. don't despire
