Steve Miller, Joe Bonamassa, Neal Schon, Joe Satriani, Warren Haynes, Steve Vai, Johnny A. & G.E. Smith all on guitar along with Shawn Pelton on drums at the Les Paul 100th Birthday Celebration at the Hard Rock Café in New York City
I love how Steve Vai didn't try to play the traditional blues & did his own thing, that's what makes him great he's such a composer & a artist it's impossible for him to imitate any person or style, he's totally original.
G.E. Smith, the happiest guy in music. Seriously, so under appreciated by the public. If most people knew how much he's done...
Gary Moore would've been BRILLIANT & perfect for this jam! RIP
He wouldn’t have left any space for anyone else though?
I miss him🙏🏻
They all would have layed down their guitars except maybe Neil Shon he is to arrogant haha
SRV would burn the place
Good job, fellas! Joe Bonamassa never seems to disappoint.
I love how Joe sat back and chilled with Steve until they had their moment, those two are the best.
Those two are not bluesman. They are shredders. The best blues player in this group is Bonamassa.
+Justin Blues Joe played a great solo with intro and outro, but Bonamasa shreds an ordinary standards.. my opinion..
Justin Blues Satriani is an insane blues player. Check out his self titled album if you think differently.
Perhaps you need to look up the definition of "shredder" dude !!!!
+Justin Blues Oh, come on! If anyone who plays fast is a shredder in your book, then Les Paul himself was the shredderest of them all! Check this out: ruclips.net/video/ZJaNMZmBR6E/видео.html
Steve and Joe are just like High School buddies having their own party in a Prom night (after being left out).
For those who are saying that Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are nothing but one dimensional players... See how these brilliant men respect them
Joe Satriani is a God of guitar any genre, blues included. He runs circles around those guys in these blues Jam. Steve Vai is not a blues player, so that is his way to play, things fit in, but don't sound like blues, but He is a master of other styles.
Anyone who would say Satch and Vai are one dimensional players doesn't know squat about music.

Thanks - was gonna ask who that was.
I absolutely love G.E. Smith's versatility, he was the heart of the old SNL.
I think he pretty much ran Live Aid 1.
Watch the video of G. E. getting to play Mike Blopmfield's Tele. That video is a blast!! Love G. E !!
Neal Schon all the way. Most well rounded guitarist and musician who can really play the blues.
His rendition was definitely the most pleasing to listen to followed by steve vai.
...so, every once in a while one gets to experience a "special" moment in life, and I've been lucky enough to have a few. Being a fan and a friend of Les', this Les Paul Foundation 100th Celebration was a big one for me. To be able to share the stage with such immense talents as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, Steve Miller Band, G.E. Smith, Warren Haynes and Joe Bonamassa is something we dream of as little kids in our bedrooms as we struggle to find a voice and a little spot in the this business we call music. On this particular night, when this moment came, I had to struggle through it due to equipment malfunctions...it was devastating to me as it was happening in "real time" (I actually walked off stage at one point). I want to send a personal "shout out" to my very good friend and and extremely talented artist Joe Bonamassa who not only encouraged me back to the stage, but handed me his guitar cable allowing me to have my moment. Thank you Joe, you are a true artist and friend. ja
Johnny A. As a guitar player myself (although not of the caliber of any of you onstage that night), I think I can say that all guitarists know things like this happen from time to time. Regardless, Joe got you plugged in pronto, and your solo was excellent. Despite the band being a little lost (and Steve stepping on you), clearly heard what you were sayin'. Great job, and kudos for being a real professional!
Johnny A. I thought your ...mini... solo at 13;48 was one of the best parts, i was hoping everybody would do a gentler solo as theres a lot of character in that type , yours was real nice ! ................wb
Johnny A. Hi, I am a new fan of yours from Mexico. I am just learning of your music, and I love your phrasing and tone...and that guitar is gorgeous! I just subscribed to your channel as well. I responded to your comment because it struck me as a very humble thing to say, especially given your level of musicianship. It was nice to see all of you guys playing together.
+Johnny A. K...Johnny A....was posting and didn't even think to scroll down(very tired/see above post)...thanks for staying on the stage, and for playing great stuff...been playing over 30 years myself, and could've hung onstage quite enjoyably...awesome that you got to have that most excellent experience
+Johnny A. Great Performance!!!!
I knew you guys trolled these videos.
Bonamassa is the man! Respect for what he does!
This is like placing 10 different flavoured sweets on the ground and asking everone to choose their favourite. Each player here brought their own if not all suited to the style they made it thier own and someone will enjoy it, awesome. All masters in their own right!!!!!
Neal Schon`s tone is SICK!
What a beautiful guitar Neal had singing perfectly.
Joe Bonamassa is one CLASS act for unplugging his own guitar cord and letting another guitarist use it when they were having technical issues, which resulted him missing his final solo at the end. Thanks Natasha for all these fine videos!
There is enough guitar power on that stage to conquer the Universe. 👍
One of the greatest to ever play does not even have his name listed. G.E. Smith is one of the greatest guitar players to ever play in my lifetime. That is saying a lot as my lifetime has been quite long.
RUclips only allows so many characters in a title. Was impossible to include everyone's name. G E Smith is listed in the video description.
Never thought I would see both of my favourite Joe's, Bonamassa and Satriani on the same stage. What legends of guitar we have all present here. Just needed some Eric Clapton to top it off.
All the great guitar blues players on stage AT THE SAME TIME! Awesome!
G.E. Smith is always good for his nods of approval, no matter who's playing! Love it!
I love the mutual respect they all have for each other and the positive vibe all around. True professionals.
Bonamassa and Vai are my favorites. The classic and the modernity.
I've seen enough interviews to know is the real deal he seems like a class act and someone who truly loves the instrument.
they're not competing...they're jamming
I came three times listening to this!
G.E. Smith knows what it's about.
Big credit to the drummer and bass player that never stopped the rhythm. And of course Steve and Joe.
Steve's solo was just epic !
Thanks for uploading - I literally laughed because of Vai and Satriani is standing quietly for themselves having fun together, and like they have nothing to do with the show. Worth seeing twice.
I luv satriani, when he plays blues there is something different kick to it unlike other guitarist who always plays same blues and they all sounds same and i admire steve vai for being brave and not playing same old blues I'm freaking tired of listening same sort of blues over and over again, well done joe and steve .............. respect to other guitarist too but just love to see them come out of their comfort zone and play a bit different
aaah joe and vai just ripping on it these guys are top level
NEAL SCHON FTW! THAT GOES GOES FOR THE JUGGLER WHEN HE PLAYS!
Bonamassa is a beast. With that being said, I think that they're all guitar destroyers, in the best way. I wish had 1% of the talent of anyone on that stage. Great video!
Imagine if Stevie Ray Vaughan had been around for this. He would have absolutely tore this up. Great line up here. They all have such great, unique vibrato.
Jack Wilcox And Gary Moore.
Jack Wilcox +John Sykes.
Jack Wilcox and Eric Johnson
Jack Wilcox Agree with all, and...
Billy Gibbons
B.B. King :( RIP
Derek Trucks
And Zappa!
One of the funnest and most interesting jams I've ever seen.
SV and Sach presence clearly proves that they are fit for all type of music. I think in the end its the skill that counts.10:06 and 11:25 is why Sach is Guitar God.
My first guitar hero - Steve Miller!
Pretty damn cool. That's guitar royalty. And our two shred supremos were right there with everyone. In fact Steve was great.
Nice to see Steve in a purely bluesy jam. Goes to show you how awesome he is...
Neal Schon is the King!!
I'm actually enjoying how passionate the drummer was. Slightly more than all the guitar players. DUDE, HE WAS SO INTO IT(drumming). Love it.
Thanks Warren Haynes !
G E Smith was amazing here! Most underrated player on stage!
a total shame Jimmy Page was not available : ) adding him would have totally ripped
Guitarist overload...*Brain Explodes*
As always when you get this many guitar players together its a shambles. however
congrats to Vai for sticking to his style and not letting the blues guys draw him in
Vai and Satch are so cool
Not one ounce of taste ...
Gotta love how the guitar techs kept working on stuff like "We need a few more guitarists up here!!" As they struggled to find outlets to plug ALL of Guitar center into. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing
I love the classy very traditional approach of Bonamassa and on the other side the out of this earth anything but traditional approach of Vai
Ivo Stan I know right?! Those were the two guys I learned just a little more about. Bonamossa's tone stands out. And by his own admission Vai is no blues player. But he really played with restraint and used the whammy quite expressively. I may take issue with his sense of swing but clearly he's a self aware enough player to know what his weaknesses and strengths are. It was no time for shredding and it kind of brought out the best in him.
Danny McCaffrey Totally agree with you re: JB. He just lifted things to a different level.
+Ivo Stan You just knew that Vai was going to blow their socks off. Satch too. All the others were just going over the same pentatonic licks we've all come to know as blues standards. But when you get shredder in that mix, he's going outside the box.
+Danny McCaffrey Yes, but if he don't play blues it doesn't mean he can't (not able :) ) play it, he can play anything being so technically proficient. Once during interview he tod that blues was to predictable for him and I agree. I like blues but blues is technically often very simpe and really predictable. He looks for new territories of music making sometimes kind of experiments. Such musicians, in that guitarists, as Steve move borders of music forward.
Great show!!........nice they all played their own brand........what makes everyone else different makes everyone else the same
GE Smith's tone is to die for.
That's THE GANG :)
So many immortals on one stage!
Vai and Satch played some acid blues.
Beautiful blend of notes from Mr Vai...
Rabih Saad Exactly. I don't understand the haters. They're stuck in the box that killed the blues I guess.
5 thumbs up Schon, the true living guitar legend
Neal schon sounded amazing, very underrated
JUST forget underrated! whats that?!
Neil Schon is hardly underrated with people who know.
Loved seeing this clip. It's something special and I would've loved to be there. The natural highs after hearing such cool music live would be AWESOME 😍❣👌❣
BONAMASSA!! Everyone has their own sound that's flowing in their blood...an individual ear but give me BONAMASSA...every time! He plays to my soul!
G.E Smith ,bonamassa, neon, satriani, Steve vai in one stage . What else you want. Amazing!!!
There was a lot off Musicians jamming along in Heaven that night !😉
JB - such a respectful player. That's an absolute gentleman right there.
To those wondering why Steve Vai was present at this event:
Steve Vai was personal friends with Les Paul. He wanted to pay tribute to him out of a place of Love. Steve put aside the fact that he's [admittedly] uncomfortable playing the Blues and paid respect the best he knows how. It's like my reason for watching this video: I don't like Blues music, but I Love Steve Vai and wanted to watch him pay respect to someone he Loved.
gaelmist22 Not to mention, he's been the recipient of the Les Paul Award. ;)
Both Steve and Joe earned their right to be there to pay homage to Les. Both had a good relationship with Les over the years and have played on stage with him numerous times. Whether or not they should have been playing Les Paul guitars is subjective
This is the first one of these things that I ever saw that worked, and wow was it great. Thanks.
in the beginning i thought, come one vai, just play for honoring it with a les paul once, but then he just did that magnificent performance, blew me away.
And yes, he needed his ibanez.
Pretty cool.
Although I never listened to him much, I think Neal Schon's playing and tone were fantastic.
It would have been fun to see this in person.
Vai screams ! His command and voicing ... and snatch ... bonowho is amazing... I love schon
Neal Schön all the way. Bonamassa is great too.
Ok Neal.
I just love Joe Bonamassa!!
Joe is such a nice guy. He rips a beautiful solo and hands his amp to the other guy
G.E.'s Black Beauty Les Paul has got some bite.
G.E> is one hell of a player!
i love G E's TONE!!!
Nice .. Vai did a great job fitting it in on this !
Neil Schon is a very under rated player. He could of used way less delay here, but great lead line in any case once the sound man found his channel on the board.
Great start of a road trip mix!
This is why Joe Bonamassa was the best. He played the best sounding solo and then he stepped back and let another dude take over his amp. The other guys thought that they were too important to share... I feel like I could share the stage with Joe and he wouldn't make me look like an idiot even though he could lol
Wow! What a treat! Seeing all these talented musicians on one stage!
Surrounded by so many other great guitarists in a blues jam, and vai still manages to stay very "vai". I thought that was kind of cool.
sb792079 as flamboyant as Vai is on stage he’s actually a super humble and down to earth guy. One of my favorite musicians.
What a trip seeing Satch and Vai playing music like this!
Schon killed it !
Thanks for your input again Neal.
Guitar ! They are the best of the best!
There's so many good Guitar Players, but would've Loved to have seen Gary Moore In the Mix..But 'RIP.' Gary. M
joe bonamassa and steve miller was the best two out of all of those guys
Loved GE Smith. He played the song, or rather let the song play him.
Personally I loved it despite the 'wrong fits' Everybody brought a unique feel to the table & it was clear they were having fun which is really what music is all about. Some great licks in there too. You can be sure I'll add a few of those to my own arsenal.
G.E Smith you are freaking awesome :)
I just love all these guys .... jamming for sure..
I could listen to Joe B and Joe S all day. Do you guys ever miss a big gig. LOL Thanks Nat.
Very nice, thanks for posting. You know I don't think there is anything wrong with technology, but I'm glad I grew up in a time where I could just watch a show. Without having to hold a cell phone up to record the show. You're at the show enjoy it.
It would be even more awesome if they all played their solos on the same Les Paul Goldtop, we could hear the actual differences in their styles, and it would show the versatility of Les Paul guitar :D
Warren Haynes is so very underrated!! He plays it all!!!!
steve and joe tag team is hilarious lol
Ravi s they’re unique and leaders. Also more into shredding
I have always been fans of all these guys and loved that they were all on stage at the same time. Life is too short. Thank you for this.
Willem Dafoe has a nice looking custom
Ryan Boshell LOL your killing me man!
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Seriously, never knew Dafoe could play like that
haha !ye he is the best of all of them!tone so good!!!...
Ryan Boshell , Tony Michaels and Macreviewz .. y'all think G.E. Smith is William Defoe???? .. Chris Dee .. I have to just mirror ur comment .. ROTF..LMAO !!!
Ya... great in Spiderman annnnd SNL. Hahahahah
Awesome!
Oh man, imagine if Stevie Ray had been there.
Omg if srv were there with those guitar icons, the concert wouldn't stop at all.
BB KING too!!!!
@@mangro51 oh of course how can you. NOT have him up there.
Hey don't forget Hendrix!!!!!
Stevie Ray does just fine on his own with Double Trouble band.
Never seen so many great guitarist on one stage!! Great perfomance....
I think if jeff beck walked in they would have all stopped in awe!!!!!
A collection of great musicians paying tribute. Thanks for sharing.
This wasn't long enough
just getting them all there at once was a real task!
I think G.E. Smith is one of the best musicians on the planet.
Steve Vai makes some Outrageous sounds Love it
