5th Edition is a nearly perfect system for both getting new players involved in tabletop RPGs and engaging veteran players who have been around the block a time or two. After a few campaigns, one-shots, and extraneous character creations, however, it can leave you wanting a new setting, play experience, or simply something different.
Braden and Shane are joined by special guests Nathan and Ben (who is also one of our awesome Patrons!) to talk about their favorite non-D&D RPGs, including why they love them, what they bring to the table, and stories of previous campaign shenanigans!

    Optimal Brownie placement. I approve.

Agreed, Brownie is able to optimally survey his domain from that lofty perch.

I have not got to play in many systems but I like the idea of the Fate system a lot. It allows for a lot of fluidity if you want your game to have that as long as you have the solid base down.

Fate is an excellent system that really thrives with a good storyteller. The dice rolls and mechanics are pretty straightforward, almost to a fault. Those of us who have played it would all recommend it.

Ahh Eclipse Phase the game where one of the creators developed the lore so much the other creator said 'just write an f-ing book!' So he did. Many of them.

I mean Pathfinder is a D&D off shot so I wouldn't have counted it among this list.
