I was reunited with my long lost twin brother after putting up a plate for this girl in her late 90s. This was before our regular gym gossip session, but after we did a perfectly coordinated Polka dance routine.

Santos is the result of the way politics in the US is done now. An almost purely fictional creature.
Approachability at the gym I think it’s just like anywhere. If people can tell based on how you interact with other gym members are and your general vibe and demeanor yeah they will talk to you. I talk to people in the gym sometimes it depends on the crowd that’s in there in the time of day, but sometimes it can be very sociable, because it’s just like a snowball. If no one talks to each other, no one will talk to each other if somebody starts talking to somebody else, more people were start talking to each other. I think what the proper etiquette is in gyms can be very vague to people. A lot of less experienced people in the gyms, feel self-conscious and nervous and I think social interaction can is tension but somebody needs to break the seal. There are definitely times of day or certain crowds that maybe you’re going before they have to get to work or after they’ve had a stressful day that just want to get a workout done and go home and not talk to anybody.

IMO the best gyms are the ones with a vibrant atmosphere, big dudes with smiles instead of grumpy faces, shit just makes you wanna go back each week
Typically it's not truly "random" but it's not too uncommon to talk briefly between sets or if you're working in with somebody. If you wear headphones and avoid making eye contact with people, it's going to be rare, but I definitely see people making small talk between sets.
Bro I don't know what's happening in other gyms. But I am a newbie in Gym and I have asked for help and also got help from random dudes on my form. So I totally believe the Redditor. Some of them even helped me hook certain attachments for pulling machines (idk the name of the equipments)

If you’re nearby the other side of the rack in between your set, then that’s when you’d be putting the other weight on. Most people don’t because they don’t want to interact with people, but there are times when it’s like this. It especially depends on the gym and what time you go.

15:23 Loading someone's plate isn't really that crazy. If you are working out next to someone and you see them put a plate on one side, it's pretty obvious that they are going to match that on the other side, so you can pretty confidently load it for them while you are resting between sets.

I'm sure it's not like that everywhere, but how is he so shocked and mind blown that there are gyms where the people act differently than what he's personally (anecdotally) seen?.. like wtf..?.. seriously I thought HE was trolling at first..
IMO the confusion is just in how people carry themselves. If you're wearing headphones and staring at the floor, people probably aren't going to talk to you unless necessary. If you're making eye contact with people, acknowledge familiar faces, etc., people are going to be more likely to talk with you between sets, ask to work in, etc..
future couples first meet at hobbies all the time, why would the gym be different. of course some approaches are hella creepy and if somebody even gives a no vibe you better leave them be, but if you get to talk normally just by being around sharing a hobby its more than likely that people get together afterwards

Canadian gyms are very Canadian. If anyone need a check, someone will volunteer. No one is shamed, even fat people get pats in the back for their courage. It makes me proud.
My local gym in the UK is like that. I walked in terrified and overweight two years ago, and the support and basic human kindness I was shown helped me so much. I'm now a healthy weight and love my gym sessions!

I honestly thought people would laugh at me, I almost turned around and walked out but I'm so glad I didn't. I'm an introvert but I now always make a point of helping others, especially nervous overweight newbies as I know how they feel, and I believe in them.

You are wrong. Majority of people talk at gym. You see them every day. People totally try to make friends at gym or at least act like they know they saw them the day before. You must not be consistent. Love you but normal.
