He definitely didn't use the right word.
The word probably should've been "tolerable", and that in the scale of all the hard labor people have done throughout history, spending a 9-5 at an office on a computer isn't really some insufferable torture that needs to be avoided at all costs. It's not sexy and cool, but it's not a bad deal and you can build a happy life around a 40-hour work week

It's not "like" that. It's exactly what happened.

Yeah. Older black Millennial checking in. I hate to shit on a generation, but good lord some of these young millenials and zoomers seem like they've experienced nothing in life, and are so easily duped by obviously idiotic "movements", and dead ass think they just woke up to some hidden truth. I just hope there is a counter movement to balance this shit out(not likely), or they grow up and grow out of it gradually, and dont end up like those old people you see at Trump rallies just completely living in another reality.

That's what Tristan was saying but Destiny's chat was fkin oblivious to it. It's not that everything you don't like is "toxic masculinity" It was that Matt was devoted to his craft, had courage even in the face of all odds, didn't b*tch n complain, and actually went into a fight knowing he was going to lose. He was much braver than any person on Destiny's stream and he garnered the respect of every man in that room that day. And he should think twice before living life without knowing how to fight. I bet those Ukranian people sure wished they took some boxing/shooting lessons before Putin invaded. Life is always gonna throw you curve balls, you should be prepared. We live in a world today where people talk shit all day behind a screen, but when they meet you in real life, they shit their pants and get on their knees. I'd like to just fight an ordinary Joe like me lol. Somone where I have a at least %15 chance of winning, anything less is just boring as I would just be dodging and running.
Sword fighting would be way more cool, why didn't they do that instead. It's way safer too, not sharp swords obv. I could beat most people with a sword I think, more tactics and less smashing.

The irony is that this reporter is the bravest guy on the screen at any time. Imagine being inside a violent, hostile cult in which the leadership gets off on psychological intimidation, and espouses the virtues of violence, while knowing you're seen as a hostile interloper-in an Eastern European country where the leader has claimed he's above the law and there are armed guards who do his bidding. The loud and aggressive 2 on 1 bullying of him on the podcast, putting him into sparring and then a cage fight? When have you seen a reporter punched in the face by his subject and one of his followers, and then publicly beaten up by another? There's one strong hero in all of this footage and it's the soft spoken, smart, emotionally intelligent, brave reporter who stuck with it while probably freaking out and fearing for his safety a lot of the time.

In response to the headgear thing around 25 minutes, headgear is generally used to prevent cuts to the face. Maybe if you’re new it could help soften blows. But pros usually use them in training to prevent cutting before fights. They say with headgear you’re head area is bigger or more of a target so you end up taking more shots to the head.
And gloves are used to protect your hands. Not soften blows. Some say bare knuckle is safer because you can only punch someone bare knuckle so many times before your hands are shot Vs having a 16 oz or 4oz glove that allows you to inflict more damage over a longer period of time. You can throw 500 punches in match gloved vs much less bare knuckle. Though you’ll get cut up way worse bareknuckle and probably break your hands. I watch alot of combat sports/follow a lot of fighters.

"plenty of time to be happy, plenty of time for hobbies, etc" not sure I agree in the context of a 9-5. if you want to work towards a business or to really grow skills (in my case programming), it takes up far too much time. 9-5 means that anything involving your personal life gets put on hold. so things like groceries, cooking, working out, or literally anything else are either handled after 5pm or Sat/Sun. handling chores or errands on the weekend is pretty normal, but it sucks cuz those are the only days out of the entire week you really get to yourself and it's common to spend them on errands that you don't have the time for after work.
and since you have to be able to wake up for work at 9am, you really don't get more than 5-6 hours after work to do what you want to do and that's assuming you don't spend any time to relax after the work day. it also assumes you don't have a long commute. so with a 9-5, the MAJORITY of your time is spent working, which I will always be against. I don't think we should have to spend the majority of our time/lives working and I think it's a bit sad that it's so normalized.

    • @nathanjora7627
      @nathanjora7627 Год назад +1

Even if you have 1 hour commute, it leaves you 14h total in a day, 7hours for sleep is more hours than you mentioned and that leaves 7h of free time. Now granted it’s both before and after work, so broken down, but most 9-5 will also come with vacations and that kind of stuff, overall that leaves a decent chunk of time for yourself.
If anything the bad thing would be that you’d have to work 9-5 in a job you don’t like, but if you do those are fine hours to work. Heck we pretty much do that much hours a week as children where I live XD
Now if we talk about 2h commute or some, then yeah sure you should try and change something, but most likely it’d be something wrong with where you live not how much hours you do on a job.

Just saying, employers would even be better off considering if the hours are burning people out or not.

@@nathanjora7627 If you work 9-5 that is 8 hours out of your day (16 hours of your day remaining). 8 hours is considered the healthy norm of hours for sleep, not 7 hours (8 hours remaining.) I don't know many people that don't have at least a 30 min drive for work (7 hours remaining). In the morning most people take at least 30 min-1 hour just to get ready for work (6ish hours remaining).
So you have at most 6 hours of free time at night before mandatory upkeep & obligations after you just had a relatively exhausting day at work. Cooking a good dinner takes 30 min-1 hour (5 remaining). Working out at a gym means you have to change and drive somewhere or you can do cardio at home (4 hours remaining).

I carry water bottles when I'm out of the house and walk without the bottle swinging at all. This makes my walking quicker and takes less effort. I use a weighted backpack on the opposite shoulder and tie velvet ropes around my waist and it relieved so much muscle tension it was crazy calming.
This also made me good at piano all of a sudden, I have basically zero music training but now I play very nicely.

I have to push back on Destiny's interpretation of teaching someone to box. Headgear is almost always available but depending on the skill level of the person working with you you really wont need it. I've trained at many gyms were headgear was never used. Even with headgear you are supposed to be pulling your punches sparring with people who are less skilled is when you will NEED headgear because they can't make light contact. Other than that headgear is usually for harder sparring where you are stress testing which is important so you can actually defend yourseld in a real fight.

But the best way to address that is through worker’s rights movements and other ways of lessening the hours we work while still receiving the same pay. That sort of thing has been done in the past - introducing the 8-hour day, Saturdays off, minimum wage etc. When Destiny says “you kind of have to be alright with that”…like no, you don’t.
