Macross Plus had a huge impact on me when I was a kid. Made me happy to see people making videos about it nowadays.
It made a huge impact with me as well. It's always been a favorite of mine since I first saw it. I really wish they would make a similar Macross to Plus again. The newer ones have never quite been the same. Although I really have a soft spot for the original.
@@SmartJapanHacksCulture truuu mine aswell, my first encounter was actually from the game on playstation,i remember fondly playing it with my friend in junior high school. He's become a real pilot now,
and for the succesor i think macross zero was having the same feeling on it (since it supposed to be prequel)
I actually haven't seen Macross Zero yet, but I love that they included the a variation of the Tomcat. I will have to check it out eventually. Cool that your friend managed to become a pilot. I would have loved to go down that route myself, but I didn't have the eyesight for it.
yoko kanno music is just sublime.
She's amazing! I've yet to hear a soundtrack by her that I didn't like.
YF-21 is one of my favorite mech since I was a child. Really glad to see bandai namco release a very well-designed 1/100 HG plastic model in 2024(also YF-19).

Macross Plus has been my fave Anime OVA since 1994. Wasn't until last year that I learned Bryan Cranston & David Hayter voiced the protagonist in the dubbed version. Mind blowned xD
Same here. I got the subbed version back in the day, so I never really heard any of the dubs until recently. I would never have guessed that those guys were involved.
Macross + and Redline will be the pinical of hand drawn anime action (yes I know M+ did have some computer helpe)

The YF-19 is amazing! The swept wings were a really nice touch. Makes it instantly look like a more experimental design.
Loved macros plus. It was my first macros & hard to beat. Loved the world building, not to mention the obvious love & talent that went into production.

I also want to correct you about YF-19 design, that the Excalibur was a mix design based on X-29 & SU-47 Berkut

1:59 That's wrong MASAYUKI. MASAYUKI worked on Macross Plus is Masayuki Yamaguchi. The one in the 1:59 is Masayuki KOJIMA.
I am curious....will you compare/make a video why Macross Plus & Frontier is considered one of the best beginner friendly Macross from Old & Modern era ?

I just read an article that a Blu-Ray version of Macross Plus will be released 09/30/2024 in the Crunchyr0ll Online Store for the first time in North America and 2nd time in the UK. Will include both the OVA and Movie versions of the movie, special features, a 184 pages art book, some cool collectors cards and a poster for Sharon Apple's concert!! How's that for 'transient facts'?? Lol
