- We didn't think we'd ever make another Robotech video but here we are.
Besides the news about Harmony Gold's license from a few years ago, there was recently (as of April of 2021) a huge development in the world of Macross and Robotech, Harmony Gold and Tatsunoko that changes everything going forward.

I was convinced we'd launch an actual space fortress before the rights would be sorted out.
In the year 2021, high above Macross Island in the South Pacific, a phenomenal event occurred in the skies that would forever alter the course of human history. Harmony Gold, Tatsunoko Productions, Big West, and Studio Nue set aside their differences and did the right thing for once.
Looks around shifty eyed........ Um we actually did a decade ago. You don't think we pay $1,000 dollars for a hammer do you lol.
@@GRIGGINS1 Paid Billions to de-commision Area 51 in the early 90's only to have it re-activated 4 years later with even more Billions of tax payer money.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Didn't we reconstruct and launch the SDF-1 back in 1999? I heard it folded to Pluto but returned (conventionally) to Earth a few later. Perhaps my memory is failing? It seams like there was some kind of world-wide military battle in the intervening years... was that something to do with Iraq? Sorry, I have only questions but no answers...
"Let's resolve all of this crap before we're all dead, and all of the fans that care about this stuff are dead as well." Very well said. Thank you again for educating us and making sense of the legal jargon.
Yeah, THIS.
They managed to kill it for me. I will continue on my own personal crusade to steer any who will listen away from Robotech and Macross for the rest of my life. They cannot be rewarded for letting HG get away with it in the end. This is my personal 'han shot first' moment. HG are detestable and I sincerely wish them nothing but utter ruin.
@@christopherings7996 I can't really disagree with you on that...
@@christopherings7996 amen brother, let HG burned to hell and beyond...
Finally, they got to their senses...
Robotech/Macross legal rights: the Infinity Gauntlet of '80s pop culture.
*80s anime pop culture
Western comics had all kinds of other Infinity Gauntlet level shit going on at the time
Bound by Flex Tape
I just want a 4k release of 'Macross: Do You Remember Love' with English subtitles.
I've got it on Blu Ray. It looks great. No 4k copy even in Japan yet.
I have it on DVD best I can find so far!
I've got it on VHS with an English dub. lol
I have a supposedly legit subbed widescreen DVD released somewhere around 2000.
Well the original LaserDisc has both English & Japanese my first copy was a pirate off that laserdisc
I don’t understand how all the big anime companies like ADV, Manga Entertainment etc have all failed but Harmony Gold with its one real property has survived since the 80’s.
They are an IP troll when it comes to that license. They do other business now unrelated to anything they did in the past.
Wold you believe that Harmony Gold almost had Dragon Ball instead of Funimation? Funimation was created just for Dragon Ball because nobody else wanted it on their plate and HG tried it out and didn't like where it was going with all the comedy.
Real estate scams.
My guess would be the demise of the Mech Warrior franchise at the hands MicroSoft. They probably let their IP Rights expire as well.
@@toddmichaeljaniszewski it must be from spite. As robotech isn't that valuable of a franchise and not much is done with it. I also don't see to much merch for it so I don't think that makes too much money.
I couldn't believe they reached an agreement in my lifetime
Right. Now we just need to see some shows before I die
Sony and Marvel proved to the world that sharing produces a ton more money than either could generate solo. Power of friendship?
Seriously, when I saw the headline I started looking out my window for flying pigs.
No one expect it too...
Word!
Robotech Fans: "That turned out better than expected."
Macross Fans: "Okay, I guess."
Battletech: "Well, we're still stuck dealing with this bullshit. Fuck it, sue me."
Thankfully they worked out the mech rights a few years ago and BT has all the unseen mechs back.
Yeah, Battletech is free and clear of the whole mess with the decision from Mechwarrior 5. Doesn't matter though. This just managed to kill Macross for me in a single masterstroke.
i don't understand why this would kill Macross for you. watch Macross if you want.
Battlestar Galactica fans: "Look at the kids still watching cartoons."
@@dalethelander3781 Battletech isn’t a cartoon, I mean it was for a while but that stuff wasn’t cannon in the first place. The series is actually more closely related to Warhammer 40K than a children’s cartoon.
I wish a good friend of mine was still alive to see this. He ran the Liberty Station podcast.
Awww. RIP
RIP Chris :(
Robotech was my first anime that dealt with adult issues as opposed to the usual cartoon stuff and I loved it. It was the first arc I really enjoyed with Rick and Minmei and it introduced me to the world of Japanese anime.
My son and I are super excited about this. Im 44 and he’s 19 and we are both huge robotech and macros fans.
I’m 47 and my son is16 and and we better get some new shit ASAP!
@@MATTA74 Let it go and be happy with what's been made. Unless you're also one of those "bring back Firefly" dullards.
50 and 18 and excited, too!
I was at the first Anime Expo in '92 for the US premiere of Macross II. The con was so small back then I was able to have a dinner chat with character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto with like 8 other people for an extra $50!
It finally ended the only way it could. A big enough Japanese company (Sony) leaning on everyone's shoulders saying "Sort this out."
The only way it will truly ever end is when Hasbro buys all the associated companies. Till all are one!
More like American company since Sony main office is in California now and Sony is failing in Japan. The main thing is they can see the writing on the wall given that live action Gundam movie is in the works and making another mecha to capitalize on that movies probably success is smart. Also helps to throw around your connections you have to try and get something that seems like a safe bet funded.
Sony: "Yall are going to sort this out?"
"NOPE!"
Sony: "Maybe you didnt hear me. Yall are GOING to sort this out."
"Oh, yeah. No problem. We are already half way done before you came. We are good. Promise."
More likely Sony threw it's weight around, wanting to get in on the action, and forced an agreement.
@@HeadCannonPrime 'Til all are one.
There's absolutely no evidence that Sony was ever involved in the negotiations between Big West and Harmony Gold. You're just assuming that they were because of the live-action movie deal they have for Robotech. Unless you were actually there or some official announcement stated that Sony was a part of it stop insinuating that they were.
One thing I love about making RUclips videos:
The second you upload it, events happen, and you see a tsunami of _"Actually..."_ comments from people too lazy to look at the upload date for the rest of eternity! 😅
We get that a lot, especially on the Top 10's. "You forgot..." No we didn't, we just can't see into the future.
Well... actually most people do pay attention, they're just pretentious dicks about it.
I occasionally am one myself.
For truth.
Seriously, I find you everywhere.
Not everybody...
Believe it or not, it is not always like that.
We have many fans who comment not because we are pretentious and conceited assholes, but because we want people to have all the information and as much data in videos that are clearly trying to inform.
It is not the same to say "you have everything wrong, and blah blah blah ..." than clearly it have a more conceited attitude; to say something like "in fact, there is data that was forgotten or ignored, and it is blah blah blah ... ".
In this case, they skipped the previous reasons that led both companies to make the agreement.
I've noticed something
80s they sold plastic figures to kids
00s the sold paper cards to kids
Now they sell digital outfits to kids
The stuff just kept getting cheaper
Now i feel called out because i always end up buying costume DLC for games i like.
@@Klonoahedgehog your not being called out... just targeted by capitalists
It's worth also noticing the paper dolls which preceded the plastic by decades. As did the paper cards. And the plastic figures are still around. If there had been the technology to market the same form of piecemeal DLC in 1990, they sure would've done it (on top of, not instead of, all the other merchandise).
Check out some of the y2k-era MMO's and their flimsy paid content. The fleecing is nothing new. If a potential customer exists, a product can be created for him.
But also less risk of cancer.
So what's the future, they sell the idea of stuff to kids?
Edit: OH there is a way to sell the idea of stuff....stuff as a service, you don't own anything, your just buying a "license" as a subscription.
It's so sad to see Harmony Gold get anything they want. Was really hoping those parasites would finally dissappear.
I wish I could like this infinitely. HG has proven victorious, and it is a dark, dark day. I am done with Macross now, as Big West is complicit in the evil. I will never forgive them.
They SOMEHOW held on, like cochroaches after nuclear fallout . . .
If it's any consolation, they're probably getting pennies while Big West rakes in dollars. You have to remember that when the deal was struck, Harmony Gold was on the cusp of being frozen out of the European Union, after they'd already lost the license in China. It was pretty clear that Big West's legal strategy on the rights issue was to isolate Robotech to the US while it continued its downward spiral into irrelevance, and losing access to the EU would have sealed Robotech's fate.
So in context, it seems that Harmony Gold and Big West struck a deal, but it was likely one whose terms were entirely decided by Big West, because they had literally all the leverage and were days away from killing Robotech's viability as an IP permanently.
That's true, but if I can have a Janis model and a Koenig Monster model I'd like that. Macross is better but both is better still.
I’m one of those rare folks that enjoys both Robotech and Macross pretty much equally. Stateside releases of Macross 7/Frontier/Zero/Delta? Absolutely yes! New Robotech content? Heck yeah! I want it all!
Robotech can go away but the rest is good. Except Delta. That's pretty much trash.
We are two. If this deal works well it would be a win-win for both franchises and yes, I´ll die happily if I see an official release of DYRL movie in an awesome package (though I have the deluxe limited edition blu ray box set from Japan) and an official sequels or continuation of the Robotech story.
I know what ya mean, I watched them all. All the series the movies read the books all of it. Huge anime O.G. from the 70s.gigantor and astronomy were part of my morning tv watch list as a kid. Then in later years capt harlock, gundam, space battleship yamato, voltron, dragonball, mazinger z,other shows similer I can't remember the names of. And yes robotech/macross. Shit got real though when akira came out. One of the best anime ever i think. it set the tone for the weirdness we have today.
And all the while Orguss is saying to itself, "I'm glad I stayed out of that mess".
Megazone23 sure didn’t……
Man, you sound like a Differentiated Idioblast.
Orgusss....oh no the urbie
This video is almost as epic as the Robotech saga itself. Well done, gentlemen.
Props to the editor who put in doc brown scene at the perfect time.
When I was young, I loved the Macross season of the Robotech series and now I’m looking forward to a live action film series.
If you watch the history of Rebotech videos in order, it the story of a room getting darker and a man in front of a camera rapidly growing a beard. Plus the history of Robotech, obviously.
Thanks so much for the mention of my work at Den of Geek and interviewing the HG team. It was a great experience and hopefully my questions provided some clarity to the whole situation.
Absolutely. Those streams really helped.
@@SecretGalaxyTV Thank you so much. If you ever need facts about Robotech or any of the Power Rangers series or "knockoffs" let me know, that's what I mainly write about for Den of Geek.
Because of Robotech, I yelled at my mom in the toy aisle of K-Mart. The box showed a picture of a character riding a motorcycle -- of COURSE the motorcycle comes with the action figure! Who cares that the box says "action figure sold separately"? I've never forgiven myself.
I think we've all been there as kids.
If your mum is still alive, give her a call and say sorry. You might have to preface this with a bit of explanation. She might not remember but say it's important to you and you've resolved to do better. My mum said she didn't remember about my "had to have it now, can't wait till after the weekend, ended up not using it much because it was too big, too heavy, and hurt me and already had a better alternative toy" story. I don't beat myself up for that childish behaviour but I do remember it on occasion and endeavour to make better decisions.
If your mum isn't still around in person, you've told us, another person has already replied saying we all have stories like that, so you're not alone in your childish desires that you wouldn't repeat as an adult. Ask yourself if your mum would still want you feeling bad about it, and since that answer is no, just quietly whisper "sorry mum" and know she might have been surprised and a little hurt by your outburst, she forgave you and stopped thinking about it a long time ago.
close your eyes and hum Rick Hunter's Theme
Yes! I was hoping to see a "final" video on the history of Robotech. Great job, as always!
Robotech affected me such as a child that I will never forget the interlude music
As much of a fan I am of the original Macross score by Kentarō Haneda, the music Ulpio Minucchi made for Robotech will always be a favorite of mine. It's just an amazing score that I listen to fairly regularly.
I would venture to guess that Sony probably sat them down and said "look, bros: we can all get very rich. let's make it happen."
I hate being reminded that Sony owns Funimation 🤮.
It explains an awful lot of Sony's behavior and funimation's for that matter.
There is no evidence at all that Sony was involved. Stop assuming that they had anything to do with or influenced the negotiations.
@@bumbayker whoa easy there fella
@@bumbayker you'll note that I listed that as a guess.
@@nicholasromig5506 My apologies. But there are people spreading that baseless rumor around. Just because Sony has the rights to the Robotech live action movie doesn't mean they have a seat in the negotiation table. Macross is Big West's beloved IP and they're not going to let some mega corporation like Sony influence the terms of their agreement with Harmony Gold.
Thanks Dan. This is the content I'm here for.
We’ve all been waiting for this. Glad you guys got it covered
I was old enough to watch robotech but too young to keep up with it or follow the storyline completely.
Then I read the novels and loved them.
I know the books aren't cannon, but for me and the people who read them, the story of robotech ended beautifully with the End of the Circle.
That's the truth. It's also a good way to end a long running series.
Thank you for covering this series, it's really helped me understand a lot of things that confused me from a very young age.
In my mind, Robotech will always be the ultimate drama story. It has intrigue, endless cliffhangers, unexpected plot twists, soul-less entities up to no good, and powerful factions struggling to destroy each other to obtain the source of their vital energy... and all that is only on the licensing and legal rights side. The show itself has even more fun stuff!
It was because of Robotech that I became a Toy Galaxy subscriber. After watching the Macross Saga for the first time in many years last summer I wanted to know more, so I found your first four Robotech documentaries here on RUclips. Then I saw all the other programs that you made (The History of Toys R Us will always be my favorite) and now every Thursday is Toy Galaxy Night. Thank you Dan and everyone for all that you do to make this channel awesome.

This should finally mean high quality streams of Do You Remember Love.
Well damn, I remember something like 10 years ago that Tobey Maguire was supposed to bring Robotech to the big screen. Might be time to dig my DVDs out of storage.
If they wait much longer, Toby Maguire will be old enough to play Captain Gloval.
Spidey?
That was when Maguire bought the rights and he was based at Universal. The project was stuck in development hell and went into turnaround and Sony bought the rights. Then it entered development hell again.

I recently rewatched SDFM, Do you remember love, Macross Plus and I made it half way thru Macross 7 before I needed a break. I play Elite Dangerous and it's a great combination to enjoy.
Elite and anything Robotechy is a great Combination. You play in VR? It's a completely different game.
@@dariustaefreeman2171 No VR yet, but I have been wanting to for a while now. I'll make the leap soon. Along with the voice command ai mods/purchases.
Lately I've played the newer games like Elden Ring and New World.

M7 is the most skippable series BTW. Frontier is basically better in every respect.
“I’ll get you yet, Rick Hunter!”
that rhyming commercial was ROUGH
--Studio Nue, probably
"...because they're evil through and through!" -- Whoever wrote that clearly never watched the show. Britai/Breetai is deeply concerned with the survival of his people and eventually seeks rapport with his enemies to end the war. Even Kamjin/Khyron, probably the character in the show that could be called the closest to "evil", still had nuanced dialogue explaining how he did not want to give up old traditions but was still willing to adapt human culture to fit into his worldview.
@@NozomuYume Robotech was almost always a licensing money press. The toy licensees didn't care one whit about the show and were probably given only the most cursory descriptions of the characters. It's hard to fathom today, when we have Wikipedia and Fandom (formerly Wikia) giving us extensive character backstories and plot arc breakdowns at the push of a button, but back then nobody CARED except the hardcore geeks.
And the most evil named Zentraedi character was probably Dolza/Boddole Zer. For humanity, the day Boddole Zer's fleet wiped out planet Earth's population was a near extinction event that will be remembered in history forever, but for him it was Tuesday.
@@bitwize ...and yet he was just trying to protect his people from Protoculture (or just culture in Robotech) by removing the contagion. Like wiping out smallpox. It wasn't base motivations, it was to protect his civilization (as he knew it) from being destroyed by a fearsome disease he could not comprehend.
I got hooked on robotech when I was 10 followed it sporadically as it was iffy for content. I’m nearly 40 now and I’ve been wanting more ever since. It’s about god damn time they resolved this, Cause I ain’t getting any younger and neither are any of my friends who were fans either.
Robotech was a game-changer for me as a kid, and it opened my eyes to the larger world of anime. For that, I will be forever be grateful to it. Now that Macross and Robotech are one happy (i.e., profit-sharing) family for all the companies involved, maybe the path will be cleared for new Robotech productions in addition to all the previously internationally unavailable Macross stuff. Kumbaya? 🤞
I suppose if Robotech wants to make some fast profits, they don't even have to animate anything new. They can just take the Macross movies and series and re-dub/sub them under the Robotech name.
And they just need to keep mentioning about Admiral Rick Hunter without him ever actually showing up, to make it tie in even more to Robotech.
I just want to be able to easily purchase Bandai Macross model kits in the US.
I was 14 when I first watched The Macross Saga on TV, racing home to catch it because the VCR missed sometimes (if you know you know)
In my teen years I spent hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours of my life watching and playing all things Robotech.
DVDs, Comics, Books, Palladium Games and even became a fan of Battletech…..that is a whole other wad of cash and time.
To say I’m a fan is Dolza’s Base sized understatement! ;-)
I just found Toy Galaxy and binge watched all 5 videos.
Thank you!
Simple as that, thank you for clearly and concisely telling the story in an entertaining and amusing fashion.
I’m a new fan of your work and am going to go watch more!
Keep up the good work!
"United in their animosity for all things Harmony Gold" LOL so very, very true. Because everything was fine until HG started lawyering up. We the fans want to watch both Robotech and Macross. And we want our Battletech models too.
At this point, I just want to see HG burn. Proverbially, as a company. Big West assured that Macross will also have to be tossed onto the pyre. A bitter blow, but so be it. They've killed the series forever, as far as I am concerned.
I appreciate you acknowledging that we fans want to watch Macross and Robotech. I know this has nothing to do with the video but The Macross Elitists need to realize you can like both. It is not mutually exclusive that you have to like one or the other.
@@bradleyrenfroe2776 I like both very much. They are just different. Carl Macek spun a good tale. And the novels are particularly good IMHO.

Wow...Glad I still have Carl Macek autographed Macross DVD set. I’m 40 years old and wanted to get my children into Robotech
"But is it cannon?" Never thought I'd hear that again!
Now that's a Cannon film!
“Do you Remember Love” is literally one of my favorite movies
the basic Macross story holds up really good...alien ship lands, the tech is learned from and then the Zentraedi show up.
But it's also great because it's as much about the post-war as the war. We don't get many stories like that.
Love that last statement!👍. As always Dan and Greg outstanding job!👍😁
I’m not convinced. Harmony Gold has acted like patent trolls the entire history of the business. They had a spark of brilliance once, but it faded over three decades ago.
I'm 62 and I still have a couple of Robotech model kits. Now that I'm retired, I'll get to build them now lol.
I haven't heard that jingle in over 30 years!
Pound for pound, this is the BEST RUclips channel of all. Thanks for continuing your great work...
Robotech is one of my favorite animated series. I bought it two times in dvd, the one with censorship and the one showing without censorship. I love the prose novels, I've read them all, in fact I learned to read English thanks to those excellent prose novels.
That lead in is a total crack up :) you guys are brilliant and hilarious. I love every video.
Robotech is a sprawling epic, and therefore the only medium which can do it justice is a big-budget streaming TV series. Movies would be too brief to properly handle the story.
I watched Robotech as a teenager in the 80"s. I was 14. I'm now 50. Don't hold your breath.
This intro made me realize I need a shirt of "Is It Canon?" but I don't see one in the Toy Galaxy shop :(
I was thinking that too!
Glad you did an update. It was crazy big news, but I agree with your "good luck" at the end, lol. Hoping for the best, though!
As much as I love _Robotech,_ I always hated those toy commercials. 😂
Lol I would love to hear them put lyrics to the Star Wars or Star Trek themes
Can't agree with you more!!!! It's like they never bothered to watch the source content before writing the commercial copy!!!!?
Oh yeah, and "I'll get you Rick Hunter!!!!"
They were incredibly cringeworthy.
The editing in your videos are top notch. Also I absolutely love the intro and outro music. You guys have some of the best content on RUclips. Keep it up!
I liked the 45 second fever dream at the start.
Loved this series, always have been curious about the whole Robotech kerfuffle. Now I just hope you guys manage to reach that Patreon goal to produce the feature-length video to go deep into the details, and in time for the live-action movie too.
Oh my good lord. Also... always an amazing job guys! Also also... woo I went orange!
👍
I went back and watched the previous 4 videos before watching this
Also, every time I hear about a Robotech live action movie, I die a little inside. But Sony being the big honcho in this makes this all make sense to me now. Very informative video!
"Live action" is a pretty vague concept these days, I'm sure it will be a CGi movement porn extravaganza.
I'm so happy this finally happened. I can't wait to stream all things Macross, and I'm also looking forward to recommending my favs to others without them having to go "find" it or having to loan my own copies out. Yack Deculture!
Still have the OG video release of Robotech: Macross on VHS tucked away in the basement storage.
I'm gonna say it again, I don't hate Harmony Gold, they gave me an eternal love of giant robots and one of the few cartoons that didn't assume I was an idiot.
The only problem is literally everything they did after.
If they hadn't just sat on the IP for the last 20 years I would have no animosity but they did and through the most shady means possible.
One act of goodness does not overcome two decades of pure evil in the form of legal shenanigans.
That reminds me of the pen and paper RPG, now there is another company with a death grip on the license.
It doesn't make up for the damage they did to the industry by suing anyone who wanted to make any production involving mecha. Robotech was my introduction to anime and it will always hold a special place in my heart but I would trade it in an instant for Harmony Gold never existing.
@@MrChainrule
The deepest sadness about all of it is the fact that yes in an alternate universe one of the numerous anime companies of which all but basically FUNimation no longer exists (even FUNimation isn't the FUNimation of old any more) someone like ADV or Manga entertainment or anybody else could have done a much better job than HG ever did or could have done. The universe where things weren't held back for decades because one company decided they were going to sit on what they knew was a pot of gold at the time. The fans may be getting what they want (finally) but as far as I'm concerned HG's actions and behavior should never be forgiven or forgotten.
That's kinda how I feel about Harmony Gold. Also, Carl Macek taught me a lot about how television syndication works, and I appreciate him and that knowledge. But I like Macross better than Robotech. ;)
Holy freaking shizz...
I literally searched up something I remembered watching (and loving) as a kid, in hopes to maybe catching it free on RUclips, and unwittingly dove head first into both, confusion as well as awe...of just how much I didn't know about something i had such fond memories of 😢
Robotech can continue to wither away as Harmony Gold fails to get significant projects off the ground (and the live action movie being complete development hell bait). Meanwhile I'll be able to possibly watch the next Delta movie in theaters and have a legal way to support Macross beyond importing BDs. All in all a great change.
I agree. Harmony Gold should have died long ago. Back in the 80's Robotech served it's purpose but it's unnecessary now. Delta was a pretty bad series though so they can leave that show there.
@@kellinwinslow1988 The 2nd Delta movie is at least going to be post-series, so they may be able to salvage something now that the focus isn't on the Windemerian conflict.

Woot! Here is the video I was waiting for. Been wondering when this video was coming.
Hopefully, Sony cleans up Funimation and gets rid of some of their horrible VA’s and higher-ups.
If Sean Schemmel, who’s a rather bad person but is respected as the voice of Goku, can leave Funimation, then I’m gonna be a lot prouder than ever before. But that’s unlikely.
I grew up watching Robotech and I am still waiting for more!
At this point, I'd just love the whole Robotech be reimagined. Basically, keep the story beats, and players, but redesign everything to be a newer version. New Veritech designs that make the three separate robotech series and an actual cohesive whole.
Miracles DO happen! Thanks for updating us! Yes a Robotech movie before I’m 60 please!
I bet this last just until Harmony Gold's wallet gets a little tight, then there'll be some new scerfluffle over this.
Buuut, at least in the mean time I might get a good US release of Macross Zero...
This makes me so happy. We'll finally get the conclusion to Shadow Chronicles. And a PS5 game, since Bandai-Namco own the rights and they also make the Ace Combat games.

Though Robotech introduced me to Macross decades ago, I was *very* ready for Robotech to finally retire as a franchise.
I just want the original source material to shine on its own in its unedited form. We don't need convoluted Americanized recuts anymore (and I feel this way about most American remakes of content from other countries).
I still have my Robotech novels from Del Rey books and Robotech RPG material from Palladium Books, but at end of the day, I want new *Macross* content.
I want new Firefly, but THAT ain't gonna happen.
This is pretty cool, hope now we can play the macross games from the ps2-ps4 games on the new consoles!! Hope they bring them to the ps5 , Xbox, or Nintendo
At least BattleTech got a relaunch with missing models as well.
Did it? Does it use the old core rules or have the new fixed hardpoint garbage from the video games?
Just scrolling through the comments and I noticed there hasn’t been much mention over the Battletech Unseen Mechs. I always considered this to be the main reason why everyone was furious with Harmony Gold in the first place.
@@nicholasdufresne3934 it’s my main reason. I’ve been a fan of BattleTech since MechWarrior 2 came out, loved piloting the Marauder around blowing stuff up. Was super disappointed when MW3 came out and it was one of a number of the older game’s mechs that wasn’t in it. It was as I was looking up the reasons that I learned about Harmony Gold’s antics. They’ve been on my shit list ever since.
@@gotindrachenhart yes it did. Still uses old core rules as well as a 2nd way to play "Alpha Strike".
@@Ghostwolf82 I'm with you. Marauder was the way to go.
Yes... Finally. Can't wait for the movie to come out. Thanks for the video update.
LEGO needs to jump on this.
My microfighter SDF-1, let me show you it.
That intro literally gave me a headache...but the rest of the video eased my mind! Thank you! ❤
What I want more than anything is to finally buy, in the USA at a reasonable price, a rerelease of the old Valkyrie mold (the one that was used for G1 Jetfire).
Bandai have the rights to the old moulds, they put out some reissues in the mid-2000s that are still gettable on the secondary market. Mandarake have some VF-1As for around $110, and Hikaru's VF-1J for around $150. Search for Bandai Origin of Valkyrie and you'll find them
@@lorcannagle Yes, I know that. Still hard to find what I want, which is the VF-1S Super Valkyrie (not sure of the exact, true name, the one with the FAST Pack add ons) in the shape I want. Like I said, I'd love to see these sold in the USA and at a reasonable price.
@@TheACcam If you just want a good VF-1 toy as opposed to a reissue of the original, the 1/60 scale Arcadia VF-1s are fantastic, usually come with FAST Packs and one gets reissues every couple of years. Not easy to get at retail in the US, but I've ordered 12 or so Arcadia Macross toys direct from Japan to Ireland with minimal hassle in the last 8 years or so.
@@lorcannagle No, I want what I've stated. I have a very nice, complete G1 Jetfire that I have cleaned and fixed up. More than anything what I want is the "real" Macross version next to it on my display shelf.
And you are very much correct, there are much better versions out there for more reasonable prices. I just want what I want, preferably without having to pay five hundred dollars, lol
I loved that closing line. Great stuff!
I understood all those references 😓
A bit bewildered that Harmony Gold came out with anything more that being thrown in a dumpster but I guess take what you can get. Sucks that theyre making up for 20 years of liscenced goods in like one week tho.
I watched this series in the 90's. It was what made love mechs. Robotech holds a special places in my heart. The captain was always my favorite
Im a simple guy... I see "Robotech" in the title, I click "Like" and then I watch the entire video. 😎
Exactly.
💯
Thanks for the video!
You know, I'm actually ok with this so long as they move forward. I want me some Robotech!
Macross has been killed by this capitulation to the great enemy. And yet you rejoice. The wicked have been rewarded for their obstinate evil. So be it.
@@christopherings7996 dude. It's a fucking tv show. It's not worth taking so seriously . It sucks that a bad company got. To keep the rights but a compromise is better than nothing.
@@kronemerj Your opinion is similarly noted. HG can burn in the fires of eternal financial destitution. Good day sir.
As someone who's only ties to any of this drama or these franchises are your videos I don't really understand this. But I'm glad for everyone else! And I'm losing it at that "I warned you" clip lol
This is nothing to celebrate. Only to mourn, the death of Macross comes as the most bitter of tidings.
