Derek Forbes and Brian McGee (both ex-Simple Minds) on bass and drums -- think this is one of the few clips of them playing with Claudia-era Propaganda. Thanks for posting!
My thoughts exactly. Best ever drummer and bass player from Simple Minds, so bittersweet to see them here. Their performance on The Tube was great but this one below is probably my favourite: - ruclips.net/video/2zjnKZ8WqZ0/видео.html
The backing track for most of the studio version is playing along. There is no keyboard player on stage, so all the synth stuff is on backing, for example.
If people really think this is the studio version they must have been playing "A Secret Wish" on very poor equipment, lol! Propaganda "live" relied on BACKING TAPES, Michael Mertens is playing bloody MARIMBAS instead of keyboards, and since their sound is very much keyboard based, he wouldn't have been able to duplicate is anyway! The vocals are very much LIVE! (and I hesitate to use the word FLAT since I love Claudia!)
@@morkygorky That's the studio vocal with a little bit of live on top. It sounds like a blend. There are other songs from this show where brucken is singing live but this isn't one of them.
@@NashSpaceRocket Thanks for pointing that out (I guess I was focusing more on their dancing, lol) the vocal does sound exactly like the album (and that one verse wouldn't be hard to sing live) - but I forgive her , she was a very young and inexperienced singer, and Propaganda was indeed a studio project more than a live band anyway , but love them just as much! The 1985 concert that was supposed to happen in Copenhagen was cancelled :-(( Can't wait for Claudias new projects xoxo
Although I'm fan of both his big bands I didn't realise what power Brian McGee brought to the live shows - awesome. And Derek Forbes is bass royalty; the band chose their touring musicians well.
Well, simply because the 90's were clearly better hands down without further dispute......lmao l j/k but all decades windows of time seem to have a kind of specific series of likely forgotten instances or "magic of the moments" obscurely imbued within each one of our personal and collective experiences.
Having been in high school when the Second British Invasion began--yes, I know Propaganda are German, but the German artists rode this wave--I've always thought that it was due to the feel-good era of Reagan and Thatcher. Now, I'm American and never lived in England, so I'm not the best to comment on this but, these days I hear Margaret Thatcher being widely vilified. And Reagan isn't regarded much better here in the States. And yet, in his bid for re-election, the ONLY state Reagan did not win was Minnesota, the home of his opponent Walter Mondale, and he lost by only 0.18%! That is unfathomable today. I know the parliamentary system in England is different in that the party in power chooses the prime minister, but Thatcher was Prime Minister until 1990. So, to people who think Reagan and Thatcher were so terrible, well, of course no leader will be everything to everybody, and there were things Reagan did that tarnished his legacy. Nevertheless, the election results during that time period speak for themselves. Nobody was being forced to vote for them, yet the majority did.
Has the uploader blended the real live audio with the studio? I notice some heavy editing overlap at circa 1:31... And I have also heard this live version before without the strong presence of the studio version. Not simply a case of backing tracks. Why this was done is beyond me.
Lasse Mann no no, seriously, I think this is an edited upload. Backing tracks were part of Propaganda’s live gigs (mostly the synth parts and sequencer triggers) but this upload is not 100% audio from that gig.
Look, I have no problem with the fact that the only 'live' part of this is contributed by the guitarist. It sounds and looks great. BUT Brian McGee's red tank top. I can't believe Paul Morley let that one through. For shame.
Crimnally underrated band. Outrageously good
I CONCUR!!!! THEY'RE MUSIC IS PROLIFIC!!!🖤💛🧡🇩🇪🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Claudia!! The voice of 'Propaganda' and her strange beauty. Epic song!
Yes indeed though with her hair she reminds me of Woodstock from peanuts
Is out of this world
I’m seeing myself with 16 hearing it for the first time. How lucky I am to have lived fully this great music and time.
Haunting. Claudia has an amazing voice❤
Sound fantastico che sconfigge il tempo
I miss dancing like that!
When Claudia sings, I get goosebumps. Is this normal for a 56 year old Aussie guy?
Nope. Her voice is extraordinary, still is
It's the same for me, and I am 54 years old 😀
59 here!
IM 54.....SAME HERE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Back in 1986 good memory ❤ love Propaganda....São Paulo city love
soundtrack to some of the happiest days i can remember.

Impeccable live performance that lives up to the studio version.
I think it is the studio version :(

A dark, brooding eccentric eighties band. Yet, I never considered them depressing at all. They helped me through high school in late 1985.
Although I'm fan of both his big bands I didn't realise what power Brian McGee brought to the live shows - awesome. And Derek Forbes is bass royalty; the band chose their touring musicians well.
One of the best group of the 80's with mecano
3:15 Increible!!!! goku no es el unico super saijayin, este misterioso joven ha cortado a freezer con mucha facilidad!!! ¿Quien sera.......? 3:45
I'm so glad to be the 1000th like for this....
why were the 80's so good I want to go there:):)

Ich liebe Susanne. Tolle Band.

I mean this in a good way; this is the most-'80's thing I have seen (and heard) in a long, long time. 🙂

Love the look of Claudia ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Incredible power in this tune. Claudia's vocals are unique. ZTT captured this in their studio production.
The Bass from Derek Forbes 🎸
Gitarren kommen in dem Song gar nicht vor, aber Gitarren waren in den 80ern mega in.

this was a "trick" many used back in the day. no audience, just a stage but live performance

@@FrankNFurter1000 Yes this is a mix of live and studio versions... for my own satisfaction... Best of both worlds.
