Knowing what life was like without him was what stopped me from ending it all when I went through a very rough spot in life. It's been really rough, because, in the years after his death I helped take care of his mom who, had extremely bad health problems, and when she died in 2015, I remember her claiming to see her son walk through the front door one time. I really wish I handled talking to him better, and I wish I handled his loss better, because, I remember having very vivid dreams about his decaying corpse on the road, telling me that I let that happen. The Midnight Gospel was something I never thought I needed. The animation and story inspires me to keep working hard, and to not be afraid. I also just adore the way it was told, it was so unique and the colorful and surreal worlds were right up my alley. I loved this song so much I can't stop listening. This song captures such a strange feeling inside and it perfectly captures what the show was trying to convey. This show will always have a place in my heart
This show gives me a new perspective in life, life is precious and I dont want to spend most of my time sitting in front of a screen being a person that isn't me
This show was taking out of Duncan's Trussels podcast " the family hour" and he put it into this fun way of different worlds that tell it's own story yet still talking about the fundamentals of life, death, creation, & meditation. These people in the show are real people telling their stories and perspectives. Even in the last episode, Duncan "interviewed" his real mom on her death bed which she died just two days later. That whole last episode was a tear jerker and definitely makes you think on life and death. Highly recommend if you want new perspective on things.
a weird thing to point out but the audio with this mother was recorded three weeks before her passing. regardless, such a powerful discussion and I am so grateful that they shared it with us.
Also in the last Episode the mother Talk about the Brother of „clancy“ so dunkin but in the show he says he have a sister ... She talks about Jeff and Jeff is his real brother :o
In all honesty, this show came out at a good time for me because I really needed a good cry. This show reminded me of the existential crisis I had not too long ago and I had a bad sense of loneliness that I never thought I had when the isolation started. Some episodes almost got me but it was the last one that had me crying like a thunderstorm. I'm glad this is here now. It's cruel the mental connections to this, but each time it feels so good to cry.. the love isn't going anywhere, I'm as certain of that as anything.

When I'm manic it's perfect, I can absorb both pretty good
Thanks for saying this, I thought I was the only one!
Yeah it depends I was usually listening intently rather than focusing on the visuals my first watch, except dor the soul bird episode watching Bob be reincarnated was interewting
The Midnight Gospel was something I never thought I needed. The animation and story inspires me to keep working hard, and to not be afraid. I also just adore the way it was told, it was so unique and the colorful and surreal worlds were right up my alley. I loved this song so much I can't stop listening. I really hope there is another season, or a soundtrack release because its all I can think about.
Hey, maybe check out some works of Seneca, Marcus Aurelius or, if you don't like their view of the world, Epicurism
Duncan said when the show does well a second season is very likely
Lauryn Shin now go try DMT.
"Clancy" is the sweetest, most relatable person
This song captures such a strange feeling inside and it perfectly captures what the show was trying to convey. This show will always have a place in my heart
hey wait your that funny kid
If we ever get a season 2, I want more information on his sister
I like your avatar pic
@@honganh1909 thanks
The sad thing is, people are thinking he gave up his physical body to live in the virtual world. So his sister will probably never see him again.
@@iexist7728 WHAT?!?!
this is the first I'm hearing this!
What about his mom?
@@vuhlen9493 did you finish the show?
Crazy how i was born to see this, in this lifetime i got to see something that's going to help me from here till then.
Best show I've ever seen. I've never rewatched 8 episodes of anything so many times. This show is therapeutic.
This show gives me a new perspective in life, life is precious and I dont want to spend most of my time sitting in front of a screen being a person that isn't me
Well we can all agree that we needed this show.
Yeah we did :(
But did we deserve it and will we live by it daily? Will we get a S2
@DeludedDesktopAlien yea, it's in the description of the episode
a weird thing to point out but the audio with this mother was recorded three weeks before her passing. regardless, such a powerful discussion and I am so grateful that they shared it with us.
Also in the last Episode the mother Talk about the Brother of „clancy“ so dunkin but in the show he says he have a sister ... She talks about Jeff and Jeff is his real brother :o
@@beepymeeps Duncan's mom was featured in 2 separate podcast episodes!
FantasyOutCome it’s called philosophy my dude
In all honesty, this show came out at a good time for me because I really needed a good cry. This show reminded me of the existential crisis I had not too long ago and I had a bad sense of loneliness that I never thought I had when the isolation started. Some episodes almost got me but it was the last one that had me crying like a thunderstorm. I'm glad this is here now. I'll be sure to check out more of Duncan's podcast even if we don't get more seasons.
Ctrl Alt Undo hey I know how you feel with the loneliness, I’m not sure when or how but one day I cut myself off from everyone else and when the quarantine started I was happy thinking people now would know how it feels but after this show it opened me. Though I still can’t talk to anyone about why this happened because I’m not ready this show as well as bojack was like therapy. And everyday I think about my downfall but then I think of this show and it helps. It really does. ☺︎︎
Such a powerful show. In so many aspects. Cry.
"Well I love you very much, obviously."
I'm not crying! You're crying!
I haven't cry in years and the last episode just hit me, and I have never been feeling better
You lose your mind
All things dissolve in time
The weight of will
Slowly diminishing
And fear subside
All things dissolve in time
Oh, all of your dreams will
Wash away
Oh, all of your dreams will
Wash away
Desintegrate
Under the light of fate
Selfless sublime
All things dissolve in time
Oh, all of your dreams will
Wash away
Oh, all of your dreams will
Wash away
Oh, all of your dreams will
Wash away
"Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

All those who say "why did you cancel it?" I can't believe they actually want a new season. The series is excellent as a limited series and the ending is spectacular, the "JUST BE HERE NOW" is beautiful, we don't need more.
Exactly
Okay, yes it works as 1 season. HOWEVER, I feel like the show was finding its footing and could have totally had an even better second season.
The only show on Netflix i watched repeatedly.
Renew this for 3 more seasons IMMEDIATELY
Then that ending won't have sense
You don't need more of this. You need exactly what was given to you of it. If more comes, then more will come.
this series has helped walk me through opiate addiction to understanding the death of my friends, and the passing of my mother in the last few years... you can add up all the religious texts and self help books to therapy for my 40 years, and nothing has been more enlightening, and allowed me to cry, like this series has. It's cruel the mental connections to this, but each time it feels so good to cry.. the love isn't going anywhere, I'm as certain of that as anything.
My grandfather died a week ago and this song and the last episode of the show help me deal with this loss and bring me some peace as well. So glad this show exists and that i found it
I know we're not getting a season 2, but man what a beautiful chaotic little gem of a show this is. Hope everyone reading this is managing to fight their way through their struggles right now♥
Espero que um dia alguém revivi essa série e tenha uma segunda temporada, o final da primeira temporada deixou uma marca de continuação
"Just be here now.....just be here now"
This has become my favorite show of this year, so much creativity and LSD went into this show. Thank you Netflix.
"Just be here now"
This show is so confusing, deep, meaningful, trance inducing and the best thing I didn’t know I ever needed but I’m so grateful it now exists. I find peace within so many moments watching this series & for that alone thank you to whoever made this possible.
Please let season 2 happen!! This show is AMAZING all of my friends and family love it and are waiting for the next season.
“All of your dreams will wash away”.
I really needed to hear that today.
This show isn’t for drug taking. It’s for open-minded people. Even if you’re not 15, if you think you can handle a little gore and deep, meaningful discussions then you can handle this (even if it means you find other ways to watch it)
Gracekim21 I’m still gonna see it on drugs tho
This show is a drug so if you do watch n check on that cross~tolerance
Don't Gate keep man
No, watched the first episode, 80% of the dialogue is about recreational drug use.
Its just kinda boring
Gracekim21 it is such a good show
GET IN.
Satou favorite man
"There's nothing to get in, and nothing to get out of! It's that simple" just be here now just be here now
The show will take you to the deepest you can go, only limit is your own understanding!
THIS SHOW WILL CONTINUE AND THEY WILL LAUNCH MORE SEASONS..... AMEN!!!!!!!
The Midnight Gospel is one of the best shows i have watched, even though it's sometimes hard to grasp what they are saying, you kind of relate to it at the same time i feel like
Check out Adventure Time, Finn ages through the show and there are a ton of relatable moments. Also, Adventure Time was made by Pendleton Ward too
Check out Ram Dass on his book “Be Here Now”
this show is my comfort show it helps me see life so differently but the same in a way its hard to explain but i do adore this show
the perfect song for the perfect season finale of a perfect show
Six months ago I lost my mother to cancer. The season's last episode hit me in the feels so much. Indeed I cried. Needed it though
Am I the only one that saw this come across their recommended and think for a split second it was a trailer for season two. Definitely wish we got more of this show.
Sadly it was canceled without announcement
Certified hood classic
Netflix, bring back The Midnight Gospel 😢
PLEASE GIVE US MUSIC VIDEOS TO SONGS FROM EACH EPISODE

Bojack horseman has ended. But fortunately we've got this
Havent fully recovered from Bojack personally. after finishing this show im officially burnt out ( still got rick and morty coming )

Legit came to listen to this song after Sarah Lynn d***....... :(
Netflix, please make season 2 happen, this is the best show ever and it is genuinely life changing
Netflix doesn't deserve this show
I am so happy that this turned out to be an incredible show that I deeply love. Thanks for the incredible experience Duncan and the rest of your team. You are helping to expand the minds of everyone you touch.
I didn't know what to expect but so very pleasantly surprised. Very enlightening and reflective. You gotta listen closely or else some of it will pass you by. That last episode really hit the feels and tears o'plenty. I'd highly recommend it to anyone with an open mind.
Exact thoughts here dude 😔
That last episode really hits home
I watched each episode like 10 times, i felt like i needed to ingest everything even beyond the spoken gospels. The colors, animation, symbols, easter eggs, i found things that resonated with me beyond the words. It truly is a midnight gospel, i am so grateful for each guest, Duncan, and most importantly Pendleton Ward.
So I just watched the last episode and I can't stop crying, there is a lot going on in my head. This show is so powerful, and I couldn't be more grateful.
“Oh no glasses man let me fix your little glasses.”
“I’m the president.”
First episode had me dying laughing already
I didn't get the joke here
Alex Connor the way he said it was funny
@@toz_dumann you wouldnt get it
@@toz_dumann he's casually falling on him from a tear in reality, as an impossible being, whose main concerns, in the midst of a stoner zombie apocalypse, are apologizing for disrupting the glasses he personally found endearing, and asking for an interview, presumably just because he likes his glasses, to which the interviewee responds "im the President" a touch annoyed. It's alot in a moment, bit of absurdist dadaism, but pretty funny
me too HAHAHA
"How do you deal with the heartbreak of having the show you like getting cancelled?"
"You cry"
This show is on different level altogether... Nothing like you've ever seen (yes, anime included).
Highly recommended, please give this a go. Doesn't matter which genre you dig or what you first choice would be after clicking the Netflix icon. Pick this up. Period.
It's actually a lot like some of the stuff Richard Linklater made in the 90s, _Slacker_ and especially _Waking Life._ Also a bit like _Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist._
The harmonic tones with the guitar and the piano and the symbolism of the song and the show it’s incredible. both the song and the show are my new favorites .
I cried pretty much through the entire last episode....
It's time to enjoy every moment we have before everything eventually washes away
Your anxious thoughts don't have power over you,you can watch them wash away
I feel like we need to embrace more with what we have and this show has been a real eye opener i really feel touched about how the show is very sentimental about the things we oftenly take for granted
hi from france! the midnight gospel is just a pure masterpiece!!
Am I the only one who fell in love with this show so hard? I would be thrilled if they went as far as making it a weekly show.
Coming back to this show after losing my grandma this year and its just as impactful and powerful as I remember it being
Please netflix, you need to give this show a second season, its absolutely an masterpiece, its soo amazing
This show was a therapy for me. The last episode makes me cry hard but, now I'm less afraid with death or loss
I feel like, "it's gonna be okay don't worry" so thank you, cuz before this show, death was a huge trauma in my mind 🥺💞
_"Oh look, a funny Adventure Time on drugs for adults!"_
Reaches episode eight.
_"I wasn't ready for all those feels dude!"_
Jokes aside, watch it. The Midnight Gospel is a master piece in my books!
You may not catch up with all of the things they’re saying. But, that’s what makes it unique and realistic. Besides, you’ll understand them eventually.
I nearly cried at the endings of both Adventure Time and The Midnight Gospel but I wasn't prepared for it in the latter.
@kristian rikardsen who?
@kristian rikardsen no idea what that means lol
This show change some deep things inside of my soul... And i love it.
I love this last episode. Really wish people were able to watch this and truly accept life for what it is. Stop the madness. We need to accept one another and respect each other.
Congratulations to those of you if you fell down the rabbit hole this year and got out. And those of you who are still in it, don’t worry, stay focused, you’ll get out. We all do.
The last episode was just such a good experience
Final episode got me right in my feels, losing my mother was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. Thank you Duncan, thank you Pendleton, thank you to everyone that made this series possible. This show is a gem, it's made life on earth better. I'm just at a loss of words for how amazing this is. Sending love...
I love the art style of this series it is one of my favourites and is so unique 🙌🙌😍
My vocabulary is too limited to explain how good Midnight Gospel is
I don’t know if this can even be considered a show??? It’s such an experience. It’s calming and pleasing to watch, but so mentally breaking too. It flows so beautifully. Amazing job.
Netflix if this show doesn't get another season, I will be highly upset
Beautiful song
I feel the need for a second season I know there’s a good chance it won’t happen but it could be such a staple series for Netflix.
Netflix almost always greenlights a 2nd season - it‘s one of their policies.
Charlie Trenorden Damn, I love Netflix for that - especially since they give chances for so many experimental series to perform! :D
@@charlietrenorden1026 Not really. Theres been a few decent shows that got cancelled after 1 season. But this seems a lot more popular so I got my fingers crossed. I dont see why they wouldn't. Doesn't seem like something that requires much production value.
