I’m a truck driver 73k lbs is the total loaded weight. Normally an empty truck and trailer would be just at 35-40k so it’s really just 33-38k worth of rice, which is still a lot.

@@Tabascorider that’s what you think. I know cause i seen it. I had picked up a load of 45k lbs of rice out of Oakland port warehouse before and I seen how those port rice containers were stacks. You have to understand that this is out of port not local run or long haul. Just saying you be surprise.

Why do the reporters have such a poor understanding of things? They obviously go to "broadcast journalism" programs at whatever university they attend. But the lack of understanding of basic life facts has always bothered me. Like this 73,000 bound mistake. Or the fact that the piece of equipment getting ready to upright the truck is a "tow truck", not a crane. Other favorites include "80 tons" vs. 80,000 pounds. And honorable mention, Oakland Division, to confusing numbered streets and avenues. "14th Street and 14th Avenue?? I must be in an alternate universe!!"

No one ever said you had to be smart to be a reporter. For example, they stand and talk in stormy weather, pretending to get pummeled, instead of reporting from shelter, wear fire retardant uniforms when reporting 10 miles from a wildland fire, ask dumb questions, and as you stated, poor understanding of things in general.
