Sea Wees were redesigned into Shimmers after complaints about the plastic on Sea Wees not being strong enough and their heads breaking off at the neck. So they used high quality plastic for Shimmers which was their down fall as they became too expensive to make a profit so the line was ended. But not before a second wave of Shimmers prototypes were made. The second wave included zebras, seahorses and a boy centaur, the only male in the Sea Wees / Shimmers line. About ten years ago these prototypes were released from the Kenner vault and sold at auction for thousands of dollars each.
I was born in 1987 and had the mermaid ones. Sadly my mother sold them one day when I was at school, I was probably around 10 years old. She sold a lot of my toys without asking me 😭
Awe according to my older brother our mom would decide for us as well if she felt we were all done with something I honestly can’t remember but this is probably why toys & dolls with my daughter is so special for me she’s been into toys since she was 15 months old and dolls since she was 3 years old she’ll be 9 in October 🤗🤗🤗
@@TomieNightFever in my experience, parents who sell their kids toys without consulting them usually aren't giving them the money from said toy resale.
The sailor moon bangs are called Heart Bangs ^^ when the bang touches in the center, they make a heart. Lots of Asian girls in schools used to make them with hair gel in the late 90's and early 20's
Good on them not needing men in there life’s lol. There such a slay I think my favorite is the butterfly the colors are rlly nice I kinda like the bigger eyes imo 🦋🧜♀️🧚🏻♀️
Oh my gosh, thanks for posting this! I had Clover when I was a kid, and her baby was one of my favorite toys! I loved that thing, but had no clue what this line was called until seeing this video. I have already found and bought her on eBay 😊. Love your videos, this one especially took me down memory lane!
These are very cool! Also I love Ghost of the Doll, they are a fantastic resource. I like the color scheme, the pearlescence paint, the molds, the whole thing. I think I own one Sea Wee. When I was little and I would go to yard sales with my Mum I would always look for toys from this era. Now as an adult I am embracing some of the lines that were out around then. She Ra is one I like, especially the horses of which I own a small collection. I am also on the hunt for Moon Dreamers, Cherry Merry Muffin, Lady Lovely Locks, and Peppermint Rose. I remember Peppermint rose from my childhood and I wanted her but never got her. The pink and white stripped roses on her outfit are so pretty!!!! Tea Bunnies is another one that I think is disgustingly cute but are out of my price range. I think trying to reproduce the Shimmer Dolls little outfit pieces would be a great idea. They would not have to be spot on but they all look like really simple sewing projects. If I was ambitious enough and not so much of a procrastinator I would offer to do it. :( I am sorry for that. I do think its a great idea to get another one of those holographic risers just for them. They look perfect with them and I think a few of their clothing pieces use that pretty white holo fabric so its just....yes. All the yes.
Shimmers are a Dream line for my. I’ve known about them for a while and they are just everything I want from dolls. Great colors, fantasy, mermaids, and wings!!!!
I absolutely love these. I am a child of the eighties so a lot of my fave things to collect are dolls n toys from that era .my fave is lady lovely locks obvs barbie and ponys rose petal place .but I'm fro the uk n dont think they released these in the uk .I love you're collection and would live to be able to display my things as well as yours I do have a 3 bed room house and still need more room lol xxxlove from the uk xx
These are precious! I love the centaurs and the harpy especially. And such detailed molds. Clover's paint job radiates bisexual energy, I love it. The pose for the butterflies and the fact that they stand is really cool too.
We had a Sea Wee growing up. She was adorable but always ended up at the bottom of the toy box because she was small and heavy. So we would have to pull everything out to find her. I remember seeing the centaurs at a gas station and wanting them so bad.
Sea weeds and them word definitely look perfect together and I’d go more with Your pony’s sense. Most of the dolls are you have are late 90s_now While theses and seaweeds word look perfect with your 80s pony’s
My mom was born in 78 and didn’t recognize either of these! I was so bummed. I always get excited to see if she knows about the vintage stuff I get. She had MLP, Bradley pose and Glamour Gals and some specific supermarket doll (those ones that are pretty big and have baby-like proportions but are meant to be fashionistas/brides/models) that I’m not a big fan of haha
I got your mom beat....I was in 1974....lol I also had glamour gals; I also have the growing up skipper. Did you ever get the ful cutie reveal panda outfit?
Love these,Too bad there were a bit before my time (Born in 1994),Wonder if someone will donate them to my local Goodwill or Thirft stores or sale them in yard sales cause like you said "There expensive online".
Yeah they also made the Strawberry Shortcake toy line from the 80's too which are some of the things I collect and they made some cool Beetlejuice toys from the late 80's to the early 90's based on the movie,(Hoping to find those in good condition and for a good price.)
Sad to learn how old toy companies never last long. First Worlds of Wonder (the company that gave us Teddy Ruxpin), then Milton Bradley, and now Kenner.
Why are you doing this to me? Ha Ha. Oh My goodness, I had these when I was a kid. They were so fun, and I have such fond memories. Unfortunately, I only have one from my childhood, it is a mermaid from the original Sea Wees release in 1979. I also had Wonder Whims, they were awsome too! I wish there were great fantasy toys like these available today.

my mom did almost the same with a lot of my toys hahaha
At least you got the money from them right?
@@TomieNightFever in my experience, parents who sell their kids toys without consulting them usually aren't giving them the money from said toy resale.
It's like barbie meets monster high meets Winx meets my little pony
thank you for saying they are lesbians, you are so right
Omg dean said Brooke is right!!!!
What a miracle!😱
@Ethan Welcher no they're right i say brooke is wrong constantly on account of brooke being wrong all the time 🤭

Wow the butterflies with caterpillar tails look very interesting, I've never seen anything like that before 😍🤩

I had these as a kid! These and the Sea Wees were some of my favorite toys!
I had Plume and Meadow!
I remember in a Livestream, you said that if you made your own doll line, you would make a fashion doll-ified version of shimmers
Hey! I’m happy to teach horse terminology 🥰 the leg hair is called feathering or feathers! Just like a bird! I love your videos! ❤️
I’m so happy you got them 💗! They are the sweetest mini dolls ever 🥰 Definitely some of my favs in my collection 💕
These are sooo cool. Thank you for sharing! I wish they were still in production.

They're so cute! It's very interesting to know that monster dolls were a thing before monster high.

Awe I love the plastic figures those would be so fun to turn into necklaces so pretty & colorful love the metallic paints on them ❤️❤️❤️
I had these growing up...well to be honest, probably still have them somewhere in my mom's basement lol...love fantasy dolls
Awww I bet they’d love to see you again 🥺🥺🥺
Wow! I remember my aunt used to have some of these at her house when I was little! I'll have to ask if they are still hanging around!
They remind me of sea wees
Sea wees is indeed made by Kenner as well
Never herd of those. They are so cute!
These are so creepy-cute! 💐Kenner made the infamous Blythe doll in the 70s 🌻
They are gorgeous 🤩🤩🤩 I grew up in the 80s, I like the 80s style with the cute face sometimes big forehead situation
Oh wow these are awesome!! I love seeing cool but rare/ unusual dolls!! 😍😍😍
I believe the Shimmers grew out of the Sea Wees line.
Love the “deer centaur”!!
Great find! I don't think they where sold in Europe. I probably would remember.
I've never seen these. They're really cute. The deer one is called a hind.
They kind of remind me of Swimways Fairy Tail dolls!
We had a Sea Wee growing up. She was adorable but always ended up at the bottom of the toy box because she was small and heavy. So we would have to pull everything out to find her. I remember seeing the centaurs at a gas station and wanting them so bad.
Deer centaur is called dryad sometimes btw. ^_^

Wow these are amazinggggg
So cool! They look to be in great condition for their age. I have never seen them.
I remember my sea wees... I had so much fun with them in the bath.
Love these,Too bad there were a bit before my time (Born in 1994),Wonder if someone will donate them to my local Goodwill or Thirft stores or sale them in yard sales cause like you said "There expensive online".
I really hope they make something like these again!!
Maybe even a new TV series, 2D animated.
This is really cool.
These are gorgeous.
I have a mermaid and baby and never knew what they were! The baby fits in the tail
These are pretty coo!
omg I'm in love! Had never seen them before
Also
Kenner made all the rad 80s Star Wars toys
Yeah they also made the Strawberry Shortcake toy line from the 80's too which are some of the things I collect and they made some cool Beetlejuice toys from the late 80's to the early 90's based on the movie,(Hoping to find those in good condition and for a good price.)

humanized gloworm
I love ths so much, the risers go so well with the line! I think my fac is Deerleen.
I definitely need to snag more of these risers just for the shimmers!!! They’re PERFECT
@@xCanadensis it's a very cute aesthetic!
I think they called them figures because they didn’t move much or at all . So they were more Figurine then doll

I have the green butterfly! Found it in a bag with a fairy tails bird for 99 cent at a thrift store.
I seen a pic of a boy centaur
Yes! He was a prototype that never made it to market.
Those are so cool how have i never heard of them before 😂
Visiting your dad's toy 80's and 90's please
He moved away and sold the store to his friend- that’s why I say he used to have one
The harpy one looks like a siren 😍🤩
One of the whispy’s look evil to me idk why?
16:27 wish I could @ a bunch of doll customizers lol...
Hi Brooke!

@@xCanadensis That is such a shame they are so cute and unique!
Asexual lesbian monster moms? Hell yeah!
