I was a Roman Catholic for most of my life and even entered the convent to become a nun. when I left I was pretty much an atheist doing whatever I wanted in my twenties . then I found Christ or rather he found me. I became a Bible believing Christian and then a few years ago through the teachings of Walter veith, I found the 7th day Adventists and Ellen white. She is the person that I listen to every day on audio books. the way she teaches and the way she brings the truth of The Bible and makes it real is truly food for the soul. I dont understand why the SDA churches today dont speak of her or mention her on their websites. That is a shame.
Walter Veith was the one who helped me find the SDA church and Ellen White as well. I love following his weekly What's Up Prof? series. Not only is my faith stronger, I'm also on the process of changing my diet and lifestyle for the better.

Absolutely correct. It's in fact a total tragedy what has happened to the SDA church because it's been SO blessed and privileged to have been given the most wonderful, final, saving Message ever gifted by the Lord to finite, sinful human beings, which it was raised by God in trust to do. Sadly, whereas once there was total unity on this Message, there are now a seriously decreased number of faithful ministers conveying it as God originally gave it to us, and the ecumenical movement has been permitted to permeate and water down our distinctive doctrines especially. The watchmen on the walls are asleep, just as predicted! I say this not to discourage, but to warn because sooner or later new SDAs are confronted with how things in truth really are in the denomination, which of course is happening in all denominations today - Satan is attacking them because they have a certain amount of Truth, but he's absolutely rabid in his attempts to destroy our Message, as it reveals the entire saving Truth for these final times. And of course one his main attacks over now several decades has been to discredit/nullify/hopefully obliterate the writings of Sister White because by reading them people are enabled to unmask his methods and deceptions! Her writings have been such a blessing to my life as well, and I can't understand the sickening, blatant attacks being made against her by some obviously very blinded people - however, I remind myself that this has been predicted and as God has warned, and that our only safety is to study and put into practice what He's given to us in order to be ready for the Close of Probation. Our only safety is in heeding the Lord and Sister White, ignoring anything and anyone trying to influence us away from them. Interestingly, God has in fact warned us very specifically what will happen if we allow deception to overcome us regarding Mrs White's gift and the position He chose her for, in these final days:
"Men may get up scheme after scheme and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truth, but ALL who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White and has given her a message WILL BE SAFE FROM THE MANY DELUSIONS THAT WILL COME IN THE LAST DAYS." Letter 50, 1906, Selected Messages 3:83, 84 (1906), Last Day Events 44.2m "Ye Shall Receive Power", p. 238 and Manuscript Releases Vol 8 : Page 319. What a comfort this is! I was raised SDA, but suffered sexual abuse by my non-Christian step-grandfather as a youth and ended up leaving Christ for a number of years. After becoming a mother to three beautiful boys in the ensuing years, Jesus came for me and drew me back into the fold (I'm eternally grateful). I was baptized in 1998 and eventually read the Desire of Ages and that book, of all her writings, literally changed my walk with the Lord. EGW was truly blessed and God continues to use her today to help many come into the full understanding and presence of the Lord!!

My wife was raised Methodist in Northern Ireland during ‘The Troubles’. Got involved with witchcraft as a teen then after university became atheist. On her early 30s met Christ through the ministry of Walter Veith then discovered the writings of Ellen White. She was amazed. Now she works as an injury rehabilitation and sports massage therapist with nutrition following the 8 laws of health. God is good 🙂🙏🏼

It may be due to embarrassment because she had false doctrines/heresies. It has been alleged that some SDA pastors don't believe all that she said, and won't inform their church members about it. Her main teachings are NOT found in the New Testament, and Jesus never mentioned them, including the fact that there is no command of Christ to keep the sabbath day in the New Testament. Ellen White is like a popess to them because, like the pope, she seems to be infallible as it were. She invented heresies, and her followers swallow the extra biblical revelations that aren't mentioned by the Lord or the New Testament. It's like Jesus and his word aren't enough for these people, they accept something else that's ADDED that seemingly makes them feel special. It surely is a delusion because they're like zealous pharisees fetishizing the sabbath day like it's some kind of ticket to heaven. "If the blind (Ellen White) lead the blind (her followers), then they both will fall in the ditch."

I absolutely love Ellen White's writings. The Church may abandon her writings, and the Christian world may ridicule her and those that believe in her writings, but I will never ever let them go. I could hear Jesus speaking to my heart through her writings, and I doubt I would be a Christian without her books. I came to understand just how to live for God and please him and the schemes of the devil to ensnare us in this world. Stand up tall for pure truth come what may.
I'm happy for you that you have found Christ But I seriously pity you. To say that you doubt you would have been a Christian (Christ follower) if it hadn't been for the writings of Ellen G. White has me wondering whether you have ever read and understood the Bible - God's Word from Christ Himself and the Apostles who walked with Him and heard from Him. If you only heard Jesus speaking to your heart because of EGW, then something must be terribly wrong! As for me, if there were no other books written about Christ Jesus, the Bible would be - and is sufficient for me. It's sad to know that it was sufficient for you...Peace!

I have been blessed by this presentation, not only because it was well presented, but also becuase of Jim Nix's confidence. I have been in this church for over seven years now, and I have seen many people shy way from that fundamental fact, that Ellen G. White was indeed the LORD's messenger. For far too long the devil has tried to lessen our confidence regarding this matter and to some extend has succeeded, 'but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits' (Daniel 11:32). Now is time, more than ever before, when the children of God should stand up for the truth, and lift up the banner of Christ, because in Him have we overcome. I recommend studies by any true SDA website - particularly Truth Triumphant USA - good study videos are on RUclips. You need to study in particular the prophecies of Daniel & Revelation which shows how the prophesied times have fulfilled exactly as they were predicted and will continue to do so. Also get the book The Great Controversy and see how everything links together precisely, and confirms history. You won't get a faithful or accurate study from anyone other than a faithful SDA on these subjects - but it's essential to have an open mind before you do, and ask God to give you guidance and enlightenment before starting.
What a servant of the LORD JESUS! How she loved Him so. I think sometimes about what would be my last words and I often think, like Job, I would like to say also,' I know in whom I have believed. She is not a prophet. Prophets are 100% correct. She's been wrong on her predictions of end times. And predictions is all they were. Jesus said to the pharisees, the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, in that in Him we are forgiven for all our sins. He is the culmination of the Law. The 10 commandments after the crucifixion, death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can no longer be used to dam* believers in Jesus Christ. That is to say believers sins are forgiven, forgotten and no longer valid to be used against a believer in Jesus Christ. Keeping the 10 commandments is important to our walk as is baptism but not necessary for salvation. Truly, a man, woman, boy or girl who've been surely saved through the mercy, grace and shed Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ will walk in His Light accordingly. Being a witness and carrying the Gospel forward into the world. But observing a day, anyday, set aside to worship the Lord is sufficient. The law of the Sabbath was written for the jews primarily, who broke it often. God rested on the 7th day. Yet God never gets tired. There was not a Sabbath for Adam and Eve. The Sabbath is the only symbolic law in the 10 commandments. Like God told Noah He wouldn't destroy the earth again by water so he placed a rainbow in the sky as a symbol. The Sabbath is a day of reflection and rest when we recognize the Almighty God and His Creation. As for worship, worshipping God anyday or rather everyday is a good thing. The Sabbath has nothing at all to do with salvation. Neither does Ellen White. Neither does the book of mormon. Neither does the worship of Mary or a man called a pope. As for the catholic church I have no idea what God's plans are for the end time. And neither does any man, woman, or child. Only God knows, everything else is pure speculation and it takes away from the gospel being preached when men are always focused on the Sabbath, Mary, the pope, end times and other falsehoods like the book of mormon. I'm a Bahai, we believe the Bahai Dispensation which started in 1844 is the fulfillment of the prophecies about the return of Christ, but i very much enjoy finding out about the 7th Day Adventist Church, it has a lot of beauty in the history and teachings
I remember when I was 15 , thats 22 years ago. We had Bible Studies on Friday evenings. Learned about Saturday being Gods true Sabbath. The Sanctuary message, health message. State of the dead, baptism. All these subjects that are so confused in this world and just being at peace and excited to understand and learn TRUTH. Was mind blowing. Reading the books that Ellen White was inspired by God to write. Give me the Bible come alive it brought and brings me to the Bible that much more. The spirit of Prophecy magnifies God's word not takes from it. It truly is a light in this dark confusing world. God speaks through His prophets. I wish we all listen to better though. I know that Jesus is coming! not soon but coming! I also know just because we keep the Sabbath or we're vegetarians that doesn't mean that we're saved. Having a true meaningful close relationship with Jesus it's the only thing that will save us. May we all get ready! Close of probation is coming.

The way these people present EGW is great until you read her books.She was a false prophet who contradicted the Bible, history and herself. Check this: EGW Contradictions 1. WAS THE PLAN OF SALVATION MADE AFTER THE FALL? EGW -YES: "The kingdom of grace was instituted immediately after the fall of man, when a plan was devised for the redemption of the guilty race." (Great Controversy, p.347). BIBLE - NO: "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." EGW contradicts the Bible by claiming the plan of salvation was devised after the fall of Adam and Eve. 2. WAS ADAM WITH EVE WHEN SHE WAS TEMPTED IN THE GARDEN? EGW - NO: "The angels had cautioned Eve to beware of separating herself from her husband while occupied in their daily labor in the garden; with him she would be in less temptation than if she were alone. But absorbed in her pleasing task, she unconsciously wandered from his side. On perceiving that she was alone, she felt an apprehension of danger. She soon found herself gazing with mingled curiosity and admiration upon the forbidden tree." (Patriarchs and Prophets, pp.53,54). BIBLE - YES: "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." (Genesis 3:6). NOTE: There is no record in the Bible of angels warning Even of being separate from her husband. 3. WAS ADAM DECEIVED BY SATAN? EGW - YES: "Satan, who is the father of lies, deceived Adam in a similar way, telling him that he need not obey God, that he would not die if he transgressed the law." (Evangelism, p.598). BIBLE -NO: "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (1 Timothy 2:14). Note: Who showed EGW that Satan deceived Adam, when the Bible says Adam was not deceived? 4. DID PRE-FLOOD HUMANS MATE WITH ANIMALS AND GIVE BIRTH TO NEW SUB-HUMAN SPECIES AND RACES? EGW - YES: "But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of God, and caused confusion everywhere." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.64). EGW - YES: "Every species of animal which God had created were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. Since the flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.75). BIBLE - NO: "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:24,25). NOTE: Five times in these two verses God states that animals can only reproduce according "to their own kinds." Horses cannot mate with birds and produce offspring. Neither can humans mate with monkeys and produce offspring. Even SDA scientists and the Ellen White Estate admits EGW was simply wrong. 5. DID GOD OR AN ANGEL SHUT THE DOOR OF NOAH'S ARK? EGW - ANGEL: "An angel is seen by the scoffing multitude descending from heaven clothed with brightness like the lightning. He closes that massive outer door, and takes his course upward to heaven again." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.68, written in 1864). EGW - GOD: "…God had shut it, and God alone could open it." (Patriarchs and Prophets, p.98, written in 1890). BIBLE - GOD: "In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. (Genesis 7:13,16). NOTE: The Bible says the Lord shut Noah in, EGW disagreed in 1864 saying it was an angel who shut the door. Then twenty-six years later in 1890, she changed her mind and wrote that it really was God who shut the door. First she contradicted the Bible and then she contradicted herself. SDA’s try to reconcile EGW with the Bible by saying, "Oh, God used an angel to shut the door." If so, then why doesn't the Bible tell us that? Why is it that none of the Bible prophets knew God "used an angel?" Why was this information only available to Christians through EGW? And why does her information contradict every one of the Bible writers? If the OT Bible record was wrong, then why did Jesus say the Bible is "truth." (John 17:17) For EGW to be right; the Bible, Moses, Jesus and Ellen White herself have to be wrong! 6. WAS THE TOWER OF BABEL BUILT BEFORE THE FLOOD? EGW - YES: "This system was corrupted before the flood by those who separated themselves from the faithful followers of God, and engaged in the building of the tower of Babel." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.301). BIBLE - NO: "These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." (Gen 10:32;11:4). NOTE: This was one of the first EGW contradictions that SDA’s found and corrected. They claimed it was just a typographical error, forgetting that EGW claimed every word she wrote came from God! (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 2, p.293). 7. DID GOD SEND RAVENS TO FEED ELIJAH? EGW - NO: "There He honored Elijah by sending food to him morning and evening by an angel of heaven." (Testimonies, Vol. 3, p.288, written in 1873). EGW - YES: "He who fed Elijah by the brook, making a raven His messenger." (Testimonies, Vol. 4, p.253, written in 1876). BIBLE - YES: "And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook." (1 Kings 17:4-6). NOTE: In 1873 EGW contradicted the Bible when she said Elijah was fed by an angel. Then three years later in 1876 she changed her mind and agreed with the Bible that it really was a raven. Then, a year after her death, her editors tried to smooth things over by omitting any reference to either an angel or a raven. They changed EGW's words to say Elijah was just "miraculously provided with food." (Prophets and Kings, p.129, written in 1916). 8. WAS THE MAN JESUS CHRIST ALSO TRULY GOD? EGW - NO: "The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty." (Letter 32, 1999, quoted in the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Vol. 5, p.1129). BIBLE - YES: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isa 9:6). BIBLE - YES: "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Rev 1:7-8). BIBLE - YES: "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:" (Phil 2:9). NOTE: The deity of Christ is a fundamental doctrine. Any other belief is HERESY.

@@beclear2473 1. Study the Sanctuary Message in the Bible and you will obtain a correct understanding of all sins being placed upon Satan at the very end of time. Your criticism is SO out of context and is SO misinformed! The act of transferring the sins of the entire world onto the scapegoat (which simply represents Satan) is the final work of Christ as High Priest in Heaven, ridding the earth of all sin and suffering caused by it, putting it onto the one who created and caused it all. In the ancient Jewish sanctuary service on earth Satan was symbolised by a scapegoat - this is all fully recorded in scripture but you won't understand any of it without a thorough and faithful study! 2. The angels having golden cards is something that was shown to Mrs White in vision, as it happened in Heaven. Once you stop selecting and picking out an odd statement here and there in order to try to convince others of her 'weirdness' and concentrate on gaining a correct faith and understanding of Ellen G White as God's final day prophetess and messenger, trust in the visions given to her comes easy, as they accord with scripture and honour God and His Truth entirely. 3. You have an incorrect understanding of Mrs White's statements on amalgamation - e.g. Spiritual Gifts, vol. 3, p. 64. "Every species of animal which God had created were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. Since the flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men" (page 75)." She is here referring to the amalgamation (the 'joined' results, if you like) of different races etc of human beings, and then again the SEPARATE amalgamation that has also occurred in the animal world - since the time of the universal Flood - i.e. amalgamation of different humans together, PLUS the same happening in the animal world. It's not describing acts of procreation of animals and humans! It's simply an incorrect understanding of the grammar used in the sentence. From the E.G. White Estate site: "Some have charged that Ellen White wrote in 1864 (and republished in 1870) that humans once cohabited with animals and that their offspring produced certain races that exist today. The statement reads: "But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of God, and caused confusion everywhere. -- PAGE 2-- 4. God gave all human beings a plant-based diet at Creation - Genesis 1:29,30. It says clearly that plant food was given for 'meat' which word means 'food' in the Bible. Flesh food, but only from animals designated as clean by God, was intended by God to be an emergency 'ration' only, to be applied after the Flood, when the ground was sodden with water for a very long time and no plant food could be grown. God never intended animals, which He created out of love as well as us, to be cruelly slaughtered at our hands, especially in order for us to eat. His diet, the vegan diet from Creation to Redemption, is the one He knows is best for humanity and I for one can attest to the fact that the vegan diet is the best on earth for our health, mental and physical, and our spiritual life. It's abundantly beneficial to our brain nerves, through which the Holy Spirit communicates with us. Animal flesh is today full of disease dangerous to man - e.g. cancerous tumours not even visible to the human eye, stay in the flesh of dead animals and are transferred to man into his flesh (confirmed by several scientists over the last 2-3 decades especially); the animals are fed veterinary antibiotics, veterinary drugs, chemicals, and even ground-up flesh of other animals (which resulted in Mad Cow Disease several years ago). Eating flesh foods also encourages the aggressive 'animal instincts' in man and not the finer spiritual sensibilities. God therefore is trying to bring us back to His intended, safe and nutritious diet - He of course knows best for His created beings. Our perverted tastes have been caused, in fact, largely by indulging in flesh food over centuries - once you come back (I first became vegetarian, then vegan) to the superior 'vegan' diet, your taste buds experience new life and food that is good for you, starts to also TASTE so good. And of course there will be no killing or slaughtering in Heaven! - 'the lion will lie down with the lamb' - there we will eat the same food as God gave to man in the beginning. God is trying to bring us to healthier life and the realisation that this is the diet of Heaven, and how far superior it in fact is. And yes, God has said that SDAs who are still eating flesh food will not be translated to Heaven from the earth at His return - like it or lump it, no matter what PEOPLE may say, that's what the Lord has said - and so it will be ! 5. Yes, another name for Christ is the Archangel, as Jude refers to - but you would have to do a Bible and Spirit of Prophecy study (alongside Mrs White's writings) to see this. As you are obviously prejudiced against her, I doubt you'll be interested, but I'm still advising it because you may come to open your mind in regard to her writings at some time - hopefully soon. 6. No, this is not correct. You simply don't understand what has been written or the setting in which it was given. Mrs White NEVER preached, or wrote, anything stating a definite time when the Lord would return. At the times you mention the SDA church was having a particular problem with many people setting a time for the Lord's return, which as the Bible clearly says, is known to NO man - only God the Father knows the time when this will happen. However, we know from Bible prophecy that certain signs of His coming can be identified, and clearly! Mrs White warned constantly that God had given light that time-setting is not from Him! On one occasion when people claimed she was providing dates for the Lord's return, she said "These statements relative to time setting were printed about thirty years ago, and the books containing them have been circulated everywhere; yet some ministers claiming to be well acquainted with me, state that I have set time after time for the Lord to come, and those times have passed, therefore my visions are false. No doubt these false statements are received by many as truth; but none who are acquainted with me or with my labors can in candor make such report. This is the testimony I have ever borne since the passing of the time in 1844: “Time after time will be set by different ones, and will pass by; and the influence of this time setting will tend to destroy the faith of God’s people” (1T 72. ANYONE setting a time for Christ's return is not from God, as she ALWAYS taught. 7. Finally, the (apparent) predictions that people alive in the day of Ellen White would be translated to Heaven when Christ returned. One thing you need to realise is that God's promises and curses are alike conditional. This fact is repeatedly testified to and affirmed in scripture. God can intend and even prophesy clearly that He is about to, for instance, destroy entire races, but because they repent after being warned by God's prophet they need to do so, the Lord's punishment is prevented. Take Jonah and what happened when he preached the warning to Nineveh, the prophecy given to Eli in regard to the vile conduct of his sons, and more. Words from the Lord are given to a prophet for them to communicate to others at that point in time - to turn them from wrong, to encourage them, to reveal to them things that aren't evident to the human eye - all is done in order to warn, and save the people. Mrs White could not say what any person would choose to do after a warning was given, but she conveyed the results of different paths they might take, in order to warn and/or encourage them etc, as God enlightened her to do. People in a 'good' spiritual condition WOULD have been translated to Heaven had the 2nd Advent been ENABLED to occur in her day - God intended that Christ's 2nd Advent would have happened at that time, in fact - but because God's people were rebellious and didn't do God's will, Christ's return had to again be delayed. Christ cannot come back and receive a people who aren't ready for His return - the 'grain' has to be reach a certain stage of maturity before the harvest can happen, and this can only take place with our submission and consent. I believe this is the principle operating in the words of Mrs White in these statements. For one example, in relation to one vision, the 1856 vision from God, hopefully this may help clarify: (from the E.G. White Estate site) - "Numerous statements made by Ellen White in the decades following the 1856 vision demonstrate that she clearly understood that there is an implied conditional quality to God's promises and threatenings--as Jeremiah declared--and that the conditional feature in forecasts regarding Christ's Advent involves the state of heart of Christ's followers. The following statement, written in 1883, is especially relevant on this point: "The angels of God in their messages to men represent time as very short. Thus it has always been presented to me. It is true that time has continued longer than we expected in the early days of this message. Our Saviour did not appear as soon as we hoped. But has the Word of the Lord failed? Never! It should be remembered that the promises and the threatenings of God are alike conditional. . . . "It was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should be thus delayed. God did not design that His people, Israel, should wander forty years in the wilderness. He promised to lead them directly to the land of Canaan, and establish them there a holy, healthy, people. But those to whom it was first preached, went not in 'because of unbelief.' Their hearts were filled with murmuring, rebellion, and hatred, and He could not fulfill His covenant with them. "For forty years did unbelief, murmuring, and rebellion shut out ancient Israel from the land of Canaan. The same sins have delayed the entrance of modern Israel into the heavenly Canaan. In neither case were the promises of God at fault. It is the unbelief, the worldliness, unconsecration, and strife among the Lord's professed people that have kept us in this world of sin and sorrow so many years."--MS. 4, 1883. These words from Mrs. White harmonize with what we have already discovered of the ways of God toward humanity, that free will plays an awesome part in the operation of the plans of God for this earth. We can better understand Mrs. White's unfulfilled prediction of 1856 when it is examined in the light of the conditional character of prophetic promises found in the Scriptures. "At one moment I may declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, but if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will change my mind about the disaster that I intended to bring on it. And at another moment I may declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, but if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will change my mind about the good that I had intended to do to it.” Jer. 18:7-10 (NRSV). I have a recording of an Elder Williams who had quite a story about Mrs. White. He was 9 years old and went to an evangelistic meeting in a tent set up in a big cow pasture. Mrs. White was speaking and he was hiding behind the podium. Her voice was clear and had plenty of volume. He had heard about how Mrs. White's voice would carry in a supernatural way. He slid inder the tent and walked around to the entrance of the tent. He could hear her voice as clearly and loud as it sounded up by the podium. Then he turned and walked way out into the pasture and had to stop when he came to a fence. He looked back at the tent which was way off in the distance, and he could hear her voice as clearly and loud as when he was by the podium. He said from that point on he never questioned her prophetic gift.

I was a Roman Catholic for most of my life and even entered the convent to become a nun. when I left I was pretty much an atheist doing whatever I wanted in my twenties . then I found Christ or rather he found me. I became a Bible believing Christian and then a few years ago through the teachings of Walter veith, I found the 7th day Adventists and Ellen white. She is the person that I listen to every day on audio books. the way she teaches and the way she brings the truth of The Bible and makes it real is truly food for the soul. I dont understand why the SDA churches today dont speak of her or mention her on their websites. That is a shame.

Absolutely correct. It's in fact a total tragedy what has happened to the SDA church because it's been SO blessed and privileged to have been given the most wonderful, final, saving Message ever gifted by the Lord to finite, sinful human beings, which it was raised by God in trust to do. Sadly, whereas once there was total unity on this Message, there are now a seriously decreased number of faithful ministers conveying it as God originally gave it to us, and the ecumenical movement has been permitted to permeate and water down our distinctive doctrines especially. The watchmen on the walls are asleep, just as predicted! I say this not to discourage, but to warn because sooner or later new SDAs are confronted with how things in truth really are in the denomination, which of course is happening in all denominations today - Satan is attacking them because they have a certain amount of Truth, but he's absolutely rabid in his attempts to destroy our Message, as it reveals the entire saving Truth for these final times. And of course one his main attacks over now several decades has been to discredit/nullify/hopefully obliterate the writings of Sister White because by reading them people are enabled to unmask his methods and deceptions! Her writings have been such a blessing to my life as well, and I can't understand the sickening, blatant attacks being made against her by some obviously very blinded people - however, I remind myself that this has been predicted and as God has warned, and that our only safety is to study and put into practice what He's given to us in order to be ready for the Close of Probation. Our only safety is in heeding the Lord and Sister White, ignoring anything and anyone trying to influence us away from them. Interestingly, God has in fact warned us very specifically what will happen if we allow deception to overcome us regarding Mrs White's gift and the position He chose her for, in these final days:
"Men may get up scheme after scheme and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truth, but ALL who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White and has given her a message WILL BE SAFE FROM THE MANY DELUSIONS THAT WILL COME IN THE LAST DAYS." Letter 50, 1906, Selected Messages 3:83, 84 (1906), Last Day Events 44.2m "Ye Shall Receive Power", p. 238 and Manuscript Releases Vol 8 : Page 319.

I was raised SDA, but suffered sexual abuse by my non-Christian step-grandfather as a youth and ended up leaving Christ for a number of years. After becoming a mother to three beautiful boys in the ensuing years, Jesus came for me and drew me back into the fold (I'm eternally grateful). I was baptized in 1998 and eventually read the Desire of Ages and that book, of all her writings, literally changed my walk with the Lord. EGW was truly blessed and God continues to use her today to help many come into the full understanding and presence of the Lord!!

It may be due to embarrassment because she had false doctrines/heresies. It has been alleged that some SDA pastors don't believe all that she said, and won't inform their church members about it.
Her main teachings are NOT found in the New Testament, and Jesus never mentioned them, including the fact that there is no command of Christ to keep the sabbath day in the New Testament.
Ellen White is like a popess to them because, like the pope, she seems to be infallible as it were. She invented heresies, and her followers swallow the extra biblical revelations that aren't mentioned by the Lord or the New Testament. It's like Jesus and his word aren't enough for these people, they accept something else that's ADDED that seemingly makes them feel special. It surely is a delusion because they're like zealous pharisees fetishizing the sabbath day like it's some kind of ticket to heaven.

I absolutely love Ellen White's writings. The Church may abandon her writings, and the Christian world may ridicule her and those that believe in her writings, but I will never ever let them go. I could hear Jesus speaking to my heart through her writings, and I doubt I would be a Christian without her books. I have been blessed by this presentation, not only because it was well presented, but also becuase of Jim Nix's confidence. I have been in this church for over seven years now, and I have seen many people shy way from that fundamental fact, that Ellen G. White was indeed the LORD's messenger. For far too long the devil has tried to lessen our confidence regarding this matter and to some extend has succeeded, 'but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits' (Daniel 11:32). I recommend studies by any true SDA website - particularly Truth Triumphant USA - good study videos are on RUclips. You need to study in particular the prophecies of Daniel & Revelation which shows how the prophesied times have fulfilled exactly as they were predicted and will continue to do so. Also get the book The Great Controversy and see how everything links together precisely, and confirms history. You won't get a faithful or accurate study from anyone other than a faithful SDA on these subjects - but it's essential to have an open mind before you do, and ask God to give you guidance and enlightenment before starting.

She is not a prophet. Prophets are 100% correct. She's been wrong on her predictions of end times. And predictions is all they were. Jesus said to the pharisees, the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, in that in Him we are forgiven for all our sins. He is the culmination of the Law. The 10 commandments after the crucifixion, death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can no longer be used to dam* believers in Jesus Christ. That is to say believers sins are forgiven, forgotten and no longer valid to be used against a believer in Jesus Christ. Keeping the 10 commandments is important to our walk as is baptism but not necessary for salvation. Truly, a man, woman, boy or girl who've been surely saved through the mercy, grace and shed Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ will walk in His Light accordingly. Being a witness and carrying the Gospel forward into the world. But observing a day, anyday, set aside to worship the Lord is sufficient. The law of the Sabbath was written for the jews primarily, who broke it often. God rested on the 7th day. Yet God never gets tired. There was not a Sabbath for Adam and Eve. The Sabbath is the only symbolic law in the 10 commandments. Like God told Noah He wouldn't destroy the earth again by water so he placed a rainbow in the sky as a symbol. The Sabbath is a day of reflection and rest when we recognize the Almighty God and His Creation. As for worship, worshipping God anyday or rather everyday is a good thing. The Sabbath has nothing at all to do with salvation. Neither does Ellen White. Neither does the book of mormon. Neither does the worship of Mary or a man called a pope. As for the catholic church I have no idea what God's plans are for the end time. And neither does any man, woman, or child. Only God knows, everything else is pure speculation and it takes away from the gospel being preached when men are always focused on the Sabbath, Mary, the pope, end times and other falsehoods like the book of mormon. Jesus Christ is sufficient for salvation. To say otherwise calls Christ a liar and His death, burial and resurrection insufficient !!! That's blasphemy of the highest order !!!

What draws me to Ellen White's writings is *her insistence on the authority of Scripture and her love for Christ.*
She says, "There is nothing more calculated to energize the mind and strengthen the intellect than the study of the Word of God." CSA 69.2

Give me the Bible come alive it brought and brings me to the Bible that much more.

The way these people present EGW is great until you read her books.She was a false prophet who contradicted the Bible, history and herself. Check this:
EGW Contradictions
1. WAS THE PLAN OF SALVATION MADE AFTER THE FALL?
EGW -YES: "The kingdom of grace was instituted immediately after the fall of man, when a plan was devised for the redemption of the guilty race." (Great Controversy, p.347).
BIBLE - NO: "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." (1 Pet 1:18-20).
BIBLE - NO: "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." (Eph 1:4).
NOTE: The Gospel of salvation through grace by faith in Jesus Christ was already in existence before the creation of this world. EGW contradicts the Bible by claiming the plan of salvation was devised after the fall of Adam and Eve.
2. WAS ADAM WITH EVE WHEN SHE WAS TEMPTED IN THE GARDEN?
EGW - NO: "The angels had cautioned Eve to beware of separating herself from her husband while occupied in their daily labor in the garden; with him she would be in less temptation than if she were alone. But absorbed in her pleasing task, she unconsciously wandered from his side. On perceiving that she was alone, she felt an apprehension of danger. She soon found herself gazing with mingled curiosity and admiration upon the forbidden tree." (Patriarchs and Prophets, pp.53,54).
BIBLE - YES: "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." (Genesis 3:6).
NOTE: There is no record in the Bible of angels warning Even of being separate from her husband.
3. WAS ADAM DECEIVED BY SATAN?
EGW - YES: "Satan, who is the father of lies, deceived Adam in a similar way, telling him that he need not obey God, that he would not die if he transgressed the law." (Evangelism, p.598).
BIBLE -NO: "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (1 Timothy 2:14).
Note: Who showed EGW that Satan deceived Adam, when the Bible says Adam was not deceived?
4. DID PRE-FLOOD HUMANS MATE WITH ANIMALS AND GIVE BIRTH TO NEW SUB-HUMAN SPECIES AND RACES?
EGW - YES: "But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of God, and caused confusion everywhere." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.64).
EGW - YES: "Every species of animal which God had created were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. Since the flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.75).
BIBLE - NO: "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:24,25).
NOTE: Five times in these two verses God states that animals can only reproduce according "to their own kinds." Horses cannot mate with birds and produce offspring. Neither can humans mate with monkeys and produce offspring. Even SDA scientists and the Ellen White Estate admits EGW was simply wrong.
5. DID GOD OR AN ANGEL SHUT THE DOOR OF NOAH'S ARK?
EGW - ANGEL: "An angel is seen by the scoffing multitude descending from heaven clothed with brightness like the lightning. He closes that massive outer door, and takes his course upward to heaven again." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.68, written in 1864).
EGW - GOD: "…God had shut it, and God alone could open it." (Patriarchs and Prophets, p.98, written in 1890).
BIBLE - GOD: "In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. (Genesis 7:13,16).
NOTE: The Bible says the Lord shut Noah in, EGW disagreed in 1864 saying it was an angel who shut the door. Then twenty-six years later in 1890, she changed her mind and wrote that it really was God who shut the door. First she contradicted the Bible and then she contradicted herself. SDA’s try to reconcile EGW with the Bible by saying, "Oh, God used an angel to shut the door." If so, then why doesn't the Bible tell us that? Why is it that none of the Bible prophets knew God "used an angel?" Why was this information only available to Christians through EGW? And why does her information contradict every one of the Bible writers? If the OT Bible record was wrong, then why did Jesus say the Bible is "truth." (John 17:17) For EGW to be right; the Bible, Moses, Jesus and Ellen White herself have to be wrong!
6. WAS THE TOWER OF BABEL BUILT BEFORE THE FLOOD?
EGW - YES: "This system was corrupted before the flood by those who separated themselves from the faithful followers of God, and engaged in the building of the tower of Babel." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, p.301).
BIBLE - NO: "These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." (Gen 10:32;11:4).
NOTE: This was one of the first EGW contradictions that SDA’s found and corrected. They claimed it was just a typographical error, forgetting that EGW claimed every word she wrote came from God! (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 2, p.293).
7. DID GOD SEND RAVENS TO FEED ELIJAH?
EGW - NO: "There He honored Elijah by sending food to him morning and evening by an angel of heaven." (Testimonies, Vol. 3, p.288, written in 1873).
EGW - YES: "He who fed Elijah by the brook, making a raven His messenger." (Testimonies, Vol. 4, p.253, written in 1876).
BIBLE - YES: "And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook." (1 Kings 17:4-6).
NOTE: In 1873 EGW contradicted the Bible when she said Elijah was fed by an angel. Then three years later in 1876 she changed her mind and agreed with the Bible that it really was a raven. Then, a year after her death, her editors tried to smooth things over by omitting any reference to either an angel or a raven. They changed EGW's words to say Elijah was just "miraculously provided with food." (Prophets and Kings, p.129, written in 1916).
8. WAS THE MAN JESUS CHRIST ALSO TRULY GOD?
EGW - NO: "The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty." (Letter 32, 1999, quoted in the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Vol. 5, p.1129).
BIBLE - YES: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isa 9:6).
BIBLE - YES: "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Rev 1:7-8).
BIBLE - YES: "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:" (Phil 2:9).
NOTE: The deity of Christ is a fundamental doctrine. Any other belief is HERESY.
Her and her husband's whole life and being devoted to God is a testimony in itself. Praise God 🙏

Truly a remarkable woman of God when I really got to know the lord I was a 7th day Adventist and at the age of 16 got babtist and I learned a lot I'm 63 yrs of age now although I'm a member of the Lutheran Evangelical church now but this is a remarkable woman
EGW was a false prophet . The Sunday law and investigative judgement are both false doctrines of EGW . Not a single Bible scripture to support her teachings . EGW said never say you are saved . She thought people would slack off . She didn't understand the Bible . If someone is truly saved , God gives them a new nature . They want to be righteous , not slack off . EGW taught Christ's death on the cross was only partial atonement . The scriptures say it was full atonement for our past , present and future sins . Jesus said it is finished . SDA'S pervert God's word to fit EGW'S false doctrines . SDA'S are also stuck in the Old Testament . They keep the Sabbath even though it has been done away with . SDA'S believe to Ng to church on Sunday will result in the mark of the beast . SDA hospitals will perform abortions for any reason . What about the commandment thou shall not kill' ?

Ellen White wrote many things that are found nowhere in Scripture. For example:
- Jesus Christ will place all sins upon Satan, he is the scapegoat (The Great Controversy, p. 427)
- Angels needing golden cards as gate passes to get in and out of heaven. (Early Writings, pg 37-39)
- Certain races of men are the result of amalgamation between man and beast. (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, pg. 64, 75)
- Ellen your salvation could be dependent on giving up meat and that no meat-eater would be translated at Christ's coming (Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 380)
- Jesus is Michael the Archangel. (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 761)
- People alive in 1856 would be translated at the 2nd coming of Jesus. (Testimonies, Vol.1, p. 131,132)
- Definite times Jesus would return in 1843, 1844, 1845 and 1851.
- In 1844 "the door of mercy was then forever closed to the world - that the work of the world was finished, and the door was shut. (Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 63; Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 268; The Great Controversy, p. 429)
- The Sabbath is the seal of God (The Great Controversy, p. 640; Review and Herald, April 23, 1901; Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 8, p. 117)

Ellen White wrote many things that are found nowhere in Scripture. For example:
- Jesus Christ will place all sins upon Satan, he is the scapegoat (The Great Controversy, p. 427)
- Angels needing golden cards as gate passes to get in and out of heaven. (Early Writings, pg 37-39)
- Certain races of men are the result of amalgamation between man and beast. (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3, pg. 64, 75)
- Ellen your salvation could be dependent on giving up meat and that no meat-eater would be translated at Christ's coming (Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 380)
- Jesus is Michael the Archangel. (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 761)
- People alive in 1856 would be translated at the 2nd coming of Jesus. (Testimonies, Vol.1, p. 131,132)
- Definite times Jesus would return in 1843, 1844, 1845 and 1851.
- In 1844 "the door of mercy was then forever closed to the world - that the work of the world was finished, and the door was shut. (Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 63; Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 268; The Great Controversy, p. 429)

@@beclear2473 1. Study the Sanctuary Message in the Bible and you will obtain a correct understanding of all sins being placed upon Satan at the very end of time. Your criticism is SO out of context and is SO misinformed! The act of transferring the sins of the entire world onto the scapegoat (which simply represents Satan) is the final work of Christ as High Priest in Heaven, ridding the earth of all sin and suffering caused by it, putting it onto the one who created and caused it all. In the ancient Jewish sanctuary service on earth Satan was symbolised by a scapegoat - this is all fully recorded in scripture but you won't understand any of it without a thorough and faithful study!
2. The angels having golden cards is something that was shown to Mrs White in vision, as it happened in Heaven. Once you stop selecting and picking out an odd statement here and there in order to try to convince others of her 'weirdness' and concentrate on gaining a correct faith and understanding of Ellen G White as God's final day prophetess and messenger, trust in the visions given to her comes easy, as they accord with scripture and honour God and His Truth entirely.
3. You have an incorrect understanding of Mrs White's statements on amalgamation - e.g. Spiritual Gifts, vol. 3, p. 64.
"Every species of animal which God had created were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. Since the flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men" (page 75)." She is here referring to the amalgamation (the 'joined' results, if you like) of different races etc of human beings, and then again the SEPARATE amalgamation that has also occurred in the animal world - since the time of the universal Flood - i.e. amalgamation of different humans together, PLUS the same happening in the animal world. It's not describing acts of procreation of animals and humans! It's simply an incorrect understanding of the grammar used in the sentence. From the E.G. White Estate site: "Some have charged that Ellen White wrote in 1864 (and republished in 1870) that humans once cohabited with animals and that their offspring produced certain races that exist today. The statement reads: "But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of God, and caused confusion everywhere. God purposed to destroy by a flood that powerful, long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before Him." [1]
No dictionary has ever used "amalgamation" to describe the cohabitation of man with beast. The primary use of the word describes the fusion of metals, the union of different elements such as in making tooth cements. Nineteenth-century usage included the mixing of diverse races.
Granted, her statement could appear ambiguous: Does she mean "amalgamation of man with beast" or "amalgamation of man and of beast"? Often, repetition of the preposition is omitted in similar construction. [2]
On other occasions, when Mrs. White used the word "amalgamation," she used it metaphorically, comparing faithful believers and worldlings. [3] She also used it to describe the origin of poisonous plants and other irregularities in the biological world: "Christ never planted the seeds of death in the system. Satan planted these seeds when he tempted Adam to eat of the tree of knowledge which meant disobedience to God. Not one noxious plant was placed in the Lord's great garden, but after Adam and Eve sinned, poisonous herbs sprang up. . . . All tares are sown by the evil one. Every noxious herb is of his sowing, and by HIS ingenious methods of amalgamation he has corrupted the earth with tares." [4]
Recognizing that Satan has been an active agent in the corrupting of God's plan for man, beast, plants, etc., we can better understand what Ellen White may have meant when she described the results of amalgamation. That which "defaced the image of God" in man and that which "confused the species [of animals]" has been the handiwork of Satan with the cooperation of humans. Such "amalgamation of man and [of] beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men," becomes understandable.
Mrs. White never hinted of subhuman beings or any kind of hybrid animal-human relationship. She did speak of "species of animals" and "races of men" but not any kind of amalgam of animals with human beings." (from the E G White Estate website)

4. God gave all human beings a plant-based diet at Creation - Genesis 1:29,30. It says clearly that plant food was given for 'meat' which word means 'food' in the Bible. Flesh food, but only from animals designated as clean by God, was intended by God to be an emergency 'ration' only, to be applied after the Flood, when the ground was sodden with water for a very long time and no plant food could be grown. God never intended animals, which He created out of love as well as us, to be cruelly slaughtered at our hands, especially in order for us to eat. His diet, the vegan diet from Creation to Redemption, is the one He knows is best for humanity and I for one can attest to the fact that the vegan diet is the best on earth for our health, mental and physical, and our spiritual life. It's abundantly beneficial to our brain nerves, through which the Holy Spirit communicates with us. Animal flesh is today full of disease dangerous to man - e.g. cancerous tumours not even visible to the human eye, stay in the flesh of dead animals and are transferred to man into his flesh (confirmed by several scientists over the last 2-3 decades especially); the animals are fed veterinary antibiotics, veterinary drugs, chemicals, and even ground-up flesh of other animals (which resulted in Mad Cow Disease several years ago). Eating flesh foods also encourages the aggressive 'animal instincts' in man and not the finer spiritual sensibilities. God therefore is trying to bring us back to His intended, safe and nutritious diet - He of course knows best for His created beings. Our perverted tastes have been caused, in fact, largely by indulging in flesh food over centuries - once you come back (I first became vegetarian, then vegan) to the superior 'vegan' diet, your taste buds experience new life and food that is good for you, starts to also TASTE so good. And of course there will be no killing or slaughtering in Heaven! - 'the lion will lie down with the lamb' - there we will eat the same food as God gave to man in the beginning. God is trying to bring us to healthier life and the realisation that this is the diet of Heaven, and how far superior it in fact is. And yes, God has said that SDAs who are still eating flesh food will not be translated to Heaven from the earth at His return - like it or lump it, no matter what PEOPLE may say, that's what the Lord has said - and so it will be !
5. Yes, another name for Christ is the Archangel, as Jude refers to - but you would have to do a Bible and Spirit of Prophecy study (alongside Mrs White's writings) to see this. As you are obviously prejudiced against her, I doubt you'll be interested, but I'm still advising it because you may come to open your mind in regard to her writings at some time - hopefully soon.
6. No, this is not correct. You simply don't understand what has been written or the setting in which it was given. Mrs White NEVER preached, or wrote, anything stating a definite time when the Lord would return. At the times you mention the SDA church was having a particular problem with many people setting a time for the Lord's return, which as the Bible clearly says, is known to NO man - only God the Father knows the time when this will happen. However, we know from Bible prophecy that certain signs of His coming can be identified, and clearly! Mrs White warned constantly that God had given light that time-setting is not from Him! On one occasion when people claimed she was providing dates for the Lord's return, she said "These statements relative to time setting were printed about thirty years ago, and the books containing them have been circulated everywhere; yet some ministers claiming to be well acquainted with me, state that I have set time after time for the Lord to come, and those times have passed, therefore my visions are false. No doubt these false statements are received by many as truth; but none who are acquainted with me or with my labors can in candor make such report. This is the testimony I have ever borne since the passing of the time in 1844: “Time after time will be set by different ones, and will pass by; and the influence of this time setting will tend to destroy the faith of God’s people” (1T 72. ANYONE setting a time for Christ's return is not from God, as she ALWAYS taught.
7. Finally, the (apparent) predictions that people alive in the day of Ellen White would be translated to Heaven when Christ returned. One thing you need to realise is that God's promises and curses are alike conditional. This fact is repeatedly testified to and affirmed in scripture. God can intend and even prophesy clearly that He is about to, for instance, destroy entire races, but because they repent after being warned by God's prophet they need to do so, the Lord's punishment is prevented. Take Jonah and what happened when he preached the warning to Nineveh, the prophecy given to Eli in regard to the vile conduct of his sons, and more. Words from the Lord are given to a prophet for them to communicate to others at that point in time - to turn them from wrong, to encourage them, to reveal to them things that aren't evident to the human eye - all is done in order to warn, and save the people. Mrs White could not say what any person would choose to do after a warning was given, but she conveyed the results of different paths they might take, in order to warn and/or encourage them etc, as God enlightened her to do. People in a 'good' spiritual condition WOULD have been translated to Heaven had the 2nd Advent been ENABLED to occur in her day - God intended that Christ's 2nd Advent would have happened at that time, in fact - but because God's people were rebellious and didn't do God's will, Christ's return had to again be delayed. Christ cannot come back and receive a people who aren't ready for His return - the 'grain' has to be reach a certain stage of maturity before the harvest can happen, and this can only take place with our submission and consent. I believe this is the principle operating in the words of Mrs White in these statements. For one example, in relation to one vision, the 1856 vision from God, hopefully this may help clarify: (from the E.G. White Estate site) -
"Numerous statements made by Ellen White in the decades following the 1856 vision demonstrate that she clearly understood that there is an implied conditional quality to God's promises and threatenings--as Jeremiah declared--and that the conditional feature in forecasts regarding Christ's Advent involves the state of heart of Christ's followers. The following statement, written in 1883, is especially relevant on this point:
"The angels of God in their messages to men represent time as very short. Thus it has always been presented to me. It is true that time has continued longer than we expected in the early days of this message. Our Saviour did not appear as soon as we hoped. But has the Word of the Lord failed? Never! It should be remembered that the promises and the threatenings of God are alike conditional. . . .
"It was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should be thus delayed. God did not design that His people, Israel, should wander forty years in the wilderness. He promised to lead them directly to the land of Canaan, and establish them there a holy, healthy, people. But those to whom it was first preached, went not in 'because of unbelief.' Their hearts were filled with murmuring, rebellion, and hatred, and He could not fulfill His covenant with them.
"For forty years did unbelief, murmuring, and rebellion shut out ancient Israel from the land of Canaan. The same sins have delayed the entrance of modern Israel into the heavenly Canaan. In neither case were the promises of God at fault. It is the unbelief, the worldliness, unconsecration, and strife among the Lord's professed people that have kept us in this world of sin and sorrow so many years."--MS. 4, 1883. (Quoted in Evangelism, pp. 695, 696.)
These words from Mrs. White harmonize with what we have already discovered of the ways of God toward humanity, that free will plays an awesome part in the operation of the plans of God for this earth. We can better understand Mrs. White's unfulfilled prediction of 1856 when it is examined in the light of the conditional character of prophetic promises found in the Scriptures.
"At one moment I may declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, but if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will change my mind about the disaster that I intended to bring on it. And at another moment I may declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, but if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will change my mind about the good that I had intended to do to it.” Jer. 18:7-10 (NRSV).

I have a recording of an Elder Williams who had quite a story about Mrs. White. He was 9 years old and went to an evangelistic meeting in a tent set up in a big cow pasture. Mrs. White was speaking and he was hiding behind the podium. Her voice was clear and had plenty of volume. He had heard about how Mrs. White's voice would carry in a supernatural way. He slid inder the tent and walked around to the entrance of the tent. He could hear her voice as clearly and loud as it sounded up by the podium. Then he turned and walked way out into the pasture and had to stop when he came to a fence. He looked back at the tent which was way off in the distance, and he could hear her voice as clearly and loud as when he was by the podium. He said from that point on he never questioned her prophetic gift.
