    It was so interesting listening to your info about the landmarks Donnalouise! The Anatolian i’m doing at the moment has lots of landmarks from around the world as well - I also need to do a bit of research into what a lot of them are so I can avoid saying things like, “i’m going to work on whatever this building is here!” 😆 I always love your voiceovers 😃
    I feel so bad that you are having a hard time with the pieces. There is no doubt about it, Educas are crumbly, I have gotten used to it now, but I do have to adjust by doing things like use pieces of paper or foam board so I can move sections around. I don’t have as much of an issue with false fits but I haven’t had many solid colour sections to build on Wildlife so far. There is a repeat cut pattern though so there have been occasions where a piece has fit exactly, but I can see it’s not right.
    I just love the images so much and I get so into the build that I forget about the annoying aspects of the pieces pretty quickly. I hope that’s how it will be for you too. It’s looking amazing so far and it will look so good when it’s done 😍
    Also, re. flipping the puzzle to tape it - that’s what I do, sandwich sections between two pieces of foam board and just flip, touch wood i’ve had no disasters in that regard so far! I hope that helps xx

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Год назад +2

      I need to figure out this repeat cut pattern as well as the seams that appear at least in my puzzle (comment from another viewer). That will definitely help me out with the other sections. Thank you so much for always being so supportive and helpful. We have a brand here in NZ and I just love their images, but the puzzle pieces/fit/quality is pretty low. But the prices are cheaper so I tolerate them because of it. Will definitely be sub sectioning off this part and then "sandwiching" as you say to flip and then tape. I'll touch wood for both of us! Can't wait to see your progress on Wildlife - it's looking so good! 💜🧩

      I love the image - I love doing large puzzles - but this one is frustrating me which I think is obvious as I haven't started the third bag yet. I'm finding other puzzles I'd rather be doing. If they would have only 2 repeat cut patterns in one bag, that would be better. Of if they would have split the bags into smaller 2,000 piece sections, that would have been better. It just feel like an overwhelming task at times. I know I will love it once done, I will will get to it, but I'm lacking motivation at the moment.

I canNOT imagine doing such a large puzzle as this with crumbly pieces. It LOOKS beautifu, though. And when you were talking abt the landmark in Chicago, I kept saying it's the Bean, not the cloud thing you referred to. You are making great progress!!! I/we are working on this puzzle and it is amazing how far along you are in just 15 hours. We have spent many hours on the top border and still have a couple of breaks, so something is still not right. I found that if you are not sure if two pieces go together, turn them over and look at the back. They usually stamp puzzle's from the front and the back will sometimes look tighter. I haven't done any other name brand puzzles so I can't compare, but you are right, the fit is terrible loose. I love the picture and that is how I ended up with this one. I love your commentary during the time-lapse, very educational.

For that reason, I can enjoy even this type of jigsaw puzzle without frustration. ☺ I am sad that you couldn't enjoy the puzzle more because of it. 😥
    I do not like the blurry image, too! And glossy pieces can be frustrating as well.

    Great start on this huge puzzle. I did the 24,000 piece educa 'life's puzzle and had the same issues, but the picture was so beautiful. I followed karen puzzles directions on separating and taping sections to fit back in the box until I find room to put it all together. I am doing the 24K Life puzzle from Educa at the moment (on the final bag- yay!) and I really don't like the sorting part- 6K pieces to sort through is a lot. So I sort them in general piles and then resort them again when I work on a section.
    One thing that helped me a lot with this puzzle- I purchased inexpensive kitchen trays that can stack one inside the other. And all sorted pieces go into them- saves me space and each sorted pile has it's own tray.
    But I love working on this puzzle! Sure, it has problems, but slowly it is coming along nicely.
    Spoiler alert!!!
    One thing I noticed when doing this puzzle- the cut of the pieces repeats itself in each separate section. Mine is a 2x3 grid (2 horizontal, 3 vertical) and the pieces between each mini-section ("border" pieces) are a little different than the others. So I sort them out in the initial sorting and that gives me borders for the inside sections and the mini-sections as well. Might help you to store the puzzle- to divide it in these mini-sections.

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Год назад

      Someone else mentioned that it has a repeating pattern and that there are "seams". This puzzle is also suppose to be a 2x3 grid. So I have to figure that out once I have this first panel complete. I'm hoping it helps me but I need to figure out what my seam pieces look like as I can't visual them just yet. So thank you - this is very helpful information. 💜🧩

    Great video Donnalouise! I counted the grid cut on my Life puzzle and each "grid" is 37 pieces in the row and 27 pieces in the column. So basically, every 37 piece across and 27 pieces down are going to repeat. So you definitely have to do the pieces that are colorful and solid pieces, including the solid color border pieces last. I didn't run into a lot issues with this with the Life Puzzle because it's a very colorful puzzle! I don't remember the Life puzzle being crumbly as it was 7 years ago, but it probably was! The Dowdle puzzle was so very crumbly! 😅 I don't recall the Life puzzle being very glare-ee. I'm not a fan of glare though!

I've only been working on the first Section and I'm finding the same problem that the peice won't stay together to move but also finding when I did the outside there's a lot of the peices that will fit together that when you do the inside they are not in the actual right place. Watch Karen's RUclips videos of her doing the Life puzzle regarding flipping the sections. They won't fall apart. Good luck and thanks for all your videos! They're great! ~~ Auburn

    did any back has his own 4 edges or did the whole 42000 piece puzzles have 4 edges in total ?

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Год назад

      Based on your other comment, I'm sure you've figured it out that there are only 4 corner pieces to the entire puzzle. The first section has three sides of edge/border, and inner sections just have a top and bottom edge/border and then the last section again has three sides of edge/border to complete the entire puzzle. 💜🧩

      I'll most likely get use to it as I work more and more on it. By the end with the Grafika, I was fine with the fact that it was going to take me several hours to finish off all the beige pieces in a section. But definitely the piece fit/cut could be greatly improved. 💜🧩

      There is a long number printed on each bag - it’s pretty small print. For me, the highest numbered bag was the left-most one so that’s the one I opened first. Hope this helps! 💜🧩

    I am sorry you dont enjoy this puzzle. I have done a 2000 piece educa with some of the monumentes from this puzzle (europe section) and it was very crumbly as well. It was not very hard to do and I liked it for the Image. There are one or two more puzzles with 1500 I think with other monuments. I still consider bying them. I hope you can finde some joy in doing the puzzle I do not want you miserable doing this puzzle.

      I think if it was packaged in smaller piece counts, I wouldn't feel so frustrated. 6k is a lot to work with and so, it's just a bit overwhelming for me right now. I know I will love the image once it's done - just getting there may have some bumps in the road. 💜🧩

    I like the videos, but yes, for sure it looks like low-quality - not the art, but the product itself. I feel like avoiding Educa puzzles because of this.
    If you have hard time turning the pieces around for gluing, how about assembling the whole puzzle backwards i.e. pictures down? Adds a nice bit of challenge also :)

      I can't see myself ever buying another Educa puzzle - perhaps a small 1,000 or 500 piece and only if I absolutely loved the image. But even then...maybe not. I've actually when thinking about doing something like that in order to tape the backs of these large sections. 💜🧩

    Word of warning
    From what I've seen, every Educa above 1k pieces is a repeat cut, and rest assured it will be patterned in THE MOST CONFUSING possible way.
    If I intentionally tried to make a build difficult I wouldn't succeed half as well.
    Point being, Educa is a low quality brand, whoever chooses the art is doing a great job, everyone else needs to be replaced, including whatever ink/paper they print with, cos the print is always flat and cheap looking.

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Год назад +1

      I was really disappointed with some of the print quality in the image - almost looks really blurry. I do not like the perfect grid cut either or that it repeats. I had issues with the sky and perfect false fits. I’ve started the second bag and it appears that the print is better. I do wish they would improve their puzzle quality as like you wrote, the artwork is really nice. 💜🧩

    I don't know whether you have a time frame in mind to complete this jigsaw, but perhaps you should consider working on it for say up to four hours a day. 🕰 Give yourself plenty of breaks, especially if it is getting frustrating at any point. Listen to some soothing music 🎶 when you are working on it. This isn't a jigsaw that needs to done at hammer and tongs pace is it! 🔨Crumbly jigsaws are annoying to do. Perhaps do small sections on some thin card and then slide them slowly into the correct places if they are not easy to reach to work on in the relevant spot. I admire your tenacity in doing large jigsaws, not something that appeals to me at all. You will get there in the end, just take your time and get to enjoy it despite the crumbling aspect of it. ❤ 🐶🧩🧩

      Yeah, there is no rush to get this puzzle done and I think I will take longer breaks in between sections. I definitely will use paper to build smaller sections on and then move them. I know I will love it once it's done and I will feel proud, but was feeling pretty defeated with all the struggles from the crumbly pieces. I'm so paranoid that someone will not the table - or the dogs will knock. I'm not convinced it'll stay together should we get the smallest earthquake even. I'll get there in the end though. 💜🧩
