Im at this rank for a quite some time, and here are the interesting things i noticed in this series of videos: 1. You dont flip when its not needed 2. Your usage of 50s is so good, you keep control of the ball in a lot of situations when i wouldve lost it; 3. You are very patient, and combined with ability to get favorable 50s it lets you keep good control of the game in general, not overcommit and prevent dangerous situations from happening. So these subtle things actually make a huge difference, i'll try to implement it in my gameplay, thank you
All of these u wont learn. But he IS patient. Im c2 if I will see so low elo players i will surely go practice my resets while squishy can do consistent triple and did it only one time in this series u dont even know how hard it is to not go for it when u can completely without risk
Yeah, I notice that too. He’s so good keeping control, and my touches almost never go exactly where I want them to go. I also sometimes don’t judge whether I beat my opponent well enough
Don’t forget that all his shots and touches are consistent , it’s very important to have that while playing to rank up as well , which is also very difficult to achieve if you don’t train and practice enough on these shots .
And I saw "accidental": speedflips, zap dashes, wavedashes, outstanding recoveries, full control dribbling, etc - don't remember I saw that in my D3 lobbies 0_o
The c1 player was not a smurf. This is how good I had to become to keep up in c1/ c2 as everyone can do those or dribble simmilarly well. I can't wait for 1100-1200 games because everything here from diamond was really accurate
@@nihility. im just about gc and i have absolutely terrible mechanics. Never air dribble, flip reset, double tap, nothing. Just basic aerials and positioning. I dont really feel behind in my games because you just dont need advanced mechanics for all of champ. Consistency is a lot better than fancy mechanics when you couldve probably scored with a basic mechanic anyway
As a champ 1 i can easily tell you why you’re doing way more than it seems, your control is perfect, first touch is always perfect, wall play and positioning to hit the ball off the wall in defense is perfect, all these small things add up which destroys anyone in Champ
Yeah I agree, that's why I like when these videos never break out mechanics, but instead stay SUPER low mechanically and just win through tactics. The fact that we're already breaking out mechanics against diamonds makes this less interesting to me.
@@TrostCodesnah bro, @vvwast is saying this video is a display of squishy's vastly superior mechanics..... perfect first touches, backboard d, total control of the game is all a demonstration of very high mechanics you only get that with many 1000s of hours of practice
he is just showing the fact that you dont need mechs to get to higher ranks. what you are trying to say is he needs to make the same mistakes you make wich is the reason you are stuck in diamond.
@@TijnZhe’s saying that squishy is having perfect base mechanics aka the fundamentals. He’s not making any bad touches or anything like that, so he doesn’t need advanced mechanics like air roll or dribbles to win
I feel like that kind of video is a big trap for those who are trying to learn, because it makes things that are very difficult sound easy. Sure, doing a front flip is easy, doing a simple aerial with no air roll is easy. But all this is really not enough without * the backboard save at 1:53, which is clearly not easy to a D2 player, where on top of actually getting a touch on the ball, you get it on the side of the car for the ball to fly high past the net, followed by a really good air-roll based recovery. * The challenge with a single jump at 1:59 is great.. provided you can perfectly wave dash to recover. Otherwise, the time loss is monstrous considering the car position and this is just giving back the ball to the opponent * The chip at 2:04 is genius (although technically hard to time for a D2 player) but should be a pass at that level. Jumping *instantly* for the follow up and outspeeding the opponents is not D2-level, and will just result in a bad double commit, potentially leading to a goal for the opponents oncounter attack, in such a lobby *perfectly executed wave dash kickoff at 2:26: I am in c2-c3 lobbies and I don t see players doing wave dash kickoffs remotely as good. The problem is not the speed flip, it s the perfection of execution of both speed flip and wave dash, that is clearlynot reachable for most D players (or C players even). * casual speed flip into zap dash at 2:30, increasing momentum without any boost and making "being fast" look easy while it is very hard in that position. Most people would be much slower to get boost/get around the field without the zap dash and would not have the same point of view on what follows, resulting in a wanky/maybe failed save at 2:33 *The perfect wall read at 2:36, confident enough to single jump in order to shoot the ball at net perfectly, is I think very hard for a D2. This whole gameplay sequence is not just "two basic front flips" executed with consistency. It s a display of GC-SSL ground/recovery mechanics, that together with a great vision of the play and an ability to read both the opponents and wall bounces( hard for any player I d say) lead to outplaying the opponent by a hair to score a perfect shot, which is itself as well a display of GC-SSL mechanics, but applied to a simple situation/aerial. And all of this is only the first 47 seconds of the game. All that to say: if you think airroll should not be necessary at that rank, then you could try to unbind it so that "accidental" perfect recoveries using it don't happen. Also, not wave-dashing, zap-dashing, or doing perfect backboard touches might help simulate more relatable gaming conditions. It's like a "basic shadow-defense on a shot": the aerial itself is not hard, but reading the ball and the camera to get it right is very hard, and just reducing it to "it is a basic aerial that everyone can do" is just sweeping all the issues under the carpet.
Yeah, these type of series' are just SSLs or pros flexing on lower ranks and smurfing at the same time. Beyond Flakes' series, there's very little to learn from them.
@@IAmProcrastinating Exactly! Flakes is probably the exception to that, as he *actually* shows relatable gameplay and does not go for shots that would require to be better - but his shadowing abilities, prejumps and his sense of timing on powerslide cuts are still a little too unrealistic. Leth also does a pretty good job at not being too mechanical, but I think Leth' s issue is that he'll try not to lose a little too much and ends up saving crazy shtuff as well. Really hard to find "good pro-made material" to improve. If things come to that, it's probably more instructional to have them play "at their level" and own the smurfing instead of pretending that anyone can just replicate it.
@@capest2831 well said on all points. This kind of game play just isn't replicable for someone actually in these ranks. Especially because of his god tier game sense, reads, and consistency. For an actual player in D2/3 they're gonna make bad reads, miss, and be in the wrong positon or over commit, and if it's not them it'll be their teammate. These kinds of videos have a lot of value but they have to be executed properly, playing with less than rank appropriate mechs to make up for their massively superior game sense and focusing on explaining how to develop that kind of game sense. Flakes def does a good job of it but even then, he always knows when to fake challenge and cover the shot and make the save, which most players below gc will struggle with. Not to mention his almost prescient ability to know when the opponent will challenge and to powerslide cut, it's fun to watch but again hard to replicate. I don't want to see pros smurf with "basic mechanics" I want to see how they rotate, position, and control the pace of the game in a way that is replicable. That being said, I still learn a lot from these videos. Especially the back wall best friend bit and the rule set around when to challenge or not based on who is closer to the ball, and we definitely need more of that game sense focused advice
Remember, shooting is a mechanic. Your ability to shoot from any angle, any position, and with power. Is what makes the simple front flips at 2:40 not simple for diamonds.
Try playing slower as usual. what I mean by that is do not always Kick the Ball away. Try tocontroll the Ball und dribble ir do low 50. Do dribbling Training packs. That‘s what got me from D3 to c2 in 2 month
I went from d3 to c2 in 7 days. I normally hover at d3-c1, but I focused up, only played ranked when I was feeling good and the biggest thing I found was mentality. If your teammates spamming okay. Or whew at you it fucks with your game. Ignore it or turn off chat and play how you want to play without the influence of others. You’ll climb ranks faster than ever before
something that I've noticed with people that are less consistent mechanically (myself included at c2) is that your level of awareness is limited because of how much mental energy your spending on simply hitting the ball the way you want it to. Its something that I think is underestimated when people say to just focus on game sense and positioning because improving your mechanics can free up your mental capacity to actually focus on those things. I'm starting to turn towards learning more freestyle mechanics just so I don't have to struggle so much in normal gameplay. As always, thanks for the videos, Squishy!
I 100% agree, I’m also c2 and while I have solid game sense (mainly from watching squishy) my mechanics and consistency just aren’t there yet. Which in turn causes me to make mistakes that I normally wouldn’t because of how much I have to focus on my mechanics. Like when I’m playing at my best, I’m playing at a GC lvl but that just isn’t sustainable and isn’t going to happen most session but it’s what motivates me to keep playing because I know what kind of player I can be
@@rafaeldcls well, I’ve focused on game sense for my entire “career” and Ive gotten far in the past (1700 pre epic) but these days I can definitely tell that my mechanics aren’t up to snuff anymore. It’s kinda frustrating to be able to see openings that should be taken advantage of but simply being unable to. Hence, freestyle practice
This was such an intelligent comment. A pinpoint reason why I’m not hardstruck d2 anymore and now am hardstruck c2 (smh) is because my mechanics got better to the point where some things are second nature. I free up mental ram by relying on muscle memory from drilling situations in training packs hundreds of times
Interesting to note that current D3-C2 players were GC1/2 a couple of seasons ago. The hard reset and player base has changed things. Almost everyone at this rank has GC rewards.
yeah no, anyone who was legitimately gc1 or higher does not struggle with d3. c1 is pushing it. those are people who paid for the boost, then got dropped closer to their actual rank.
@@mewderator6410c2 is covered in gc titles and the skill level of who you play at this rank is so diverse. i peaked at gc1 last season and now i can hardly stay at c3. Its legitimately feels like smurfs or a deranked gc but its not
@vgfy6319 oh yeah for sure c2 and up is elo hell rn. but d3 is definitely not the same. gc1 dropped in population to 40% of its previous seasons. ranks are so bad
The fact that you’re good enough to NOT let yourself loose to walk through the ranks. Is still in itself Smurfing. And then when you have your typical Smurfs and now all the RUclipsrs smurfing and saying diamond is easy…. These guys you played didn’t even realize they lost the moment they joined the match. That’s what the population is upset about. Unfair challenges. You’re not gonna let yourself lose. You have SSL consistency where as the diamonds have DIAMOND consistency
You are very good at immitating your opponents skill level. Yes, people in high diamong/low champ CAN air dribble, and CAN double tap. The only difference between you and them is that every time you try one its ALWAYS good while diamond/low champs can hit 1 every 5 and the 4 times they mess up they end up 1 goal behind.
I see a fair amount of flip resets from Diamonds and Champs. It's not a mechanic I can do as my mechanics are closer to gold, but they're pretty common at those ranks now to the point where it doesn't particularly impress me anymore. A big difference between those guys and higher level players is they don't always know what to do when challenged in the air. Their Freeplay mechanics are quite good, but just fast aerial at them and they panic.
This was my takeaway too. If I was in the last game playing against Jrader_toes I would not think he's smurfing since he isn't consistent. But Mr DrMuffiNator over here?!?! That guys might not be trying anything fancy but the movement is WAAAY too clean and he is 100% consistent. There's a smurf! But I guess his point rings true then... I don't need any fancy techs/mechs to get wins and advance at this stage. I just need to get more consistent with aerials and ball control and patience.
You had a chill time in Diamond, as someone who’s been stuck between D2-C1 for like 2 years. I consistently play people better than who you thought was a smurf. His perfect positioning and calmness definitely slows the game down though. I swear every game I play its just constant booms and insta challenges.
squishy i wanted to tell you that this series has been quite the nostalgia for me. i've been watching you since early 2017 (i began RL in late 2016) and the vibe i got so far from you commenting in these videos has in my eyes somehow got more like it was in the beginning when i started watching you. that's why it's kinda nostalgic for me to just listen to you teaching me about RL where you just talk about your thought processes while playing these ranks and sounding very happy to just give people some tips to get better. the last few years were kinda stressful for me so that might influence my perception of your videos from this time span but at some point to me they sounded somewhat forced, maybe because of the stress coming from rlcs or idk. it's just a feeling and as i said it might just be a perception thing but that is how i perceived it. anyway i learned much from your videos as your thoughts about the game kinda always reflected my own but with much more depth, experience and obviously mechanics to make them work^^ therefore it's refreshing to have more fun again while watching your videos. i'm looking forward to the gc1/gc2 videos as i don't know what i should work on in the moment since i'm playing more again than i was the last two years
What you said about the skill jump and also some mentalities of players around this exact ranking is spot tf on lol. So many 1-2 goal rage quits with 4 mins left or giving up. Many of the most fun games are comebacks after getting your stuff back in order. I’ve been hard stuck D3-C1 long time but I know I’d progress with simple 5 mins training before runs. Thanks for all the help you’re a real champ!
I get a little mechy in c1-2 getting up to 2 flip resets sometimes but not always because champs know how to chase up the wall and early jump everything
One thing maybe a lot of people might wanna see would actually getting your teammate more involved, I know its tough to trust them but maybe seeing how best you can set your teammate up, because part of the series can also focus more on how to be a better teammate
An underrated reason why people get stuck in diamond is because they forfeit so early in games. I can't believe that pair forfeited 0-2 with 3mins left
Within the first 3 minutes, Squish subconsiously does: -speed-flip kickoff -wavedash recoveries including one after hitting the ball on kickoff - zap-dash
I know this is super late but the reason that the comments are saying that diamonds have “crazy mechanics” is because diamond is this magical rank where you’ll find players with 2 of 3 things: mechanics, consistency, or game-sense. For example, you’ll have players who are always where they need to be and get some crazy air-dribbles, but miss easy hits. Or someone who can’t do a basic dribble but is patient and always gets a good touch when they go. Champ is where people start to put all 3 together, and Grand Champ is where people have all 3 together, and add speed.
this is "squishy be a dbag" season every time he does these. hasn't improved his video quality in years, sound in years, still monotone and vanilla af and just here to take unsubtle jabs at the entire playerbase.
I think one of biggest diferences between a real Diamond player is the ball reading consistency, you dont see them reading of wall or backboard balls like that.
The biggest thing I've learned from this video is to be very patient and just let the opponents and teammates do their thing and simple challenge when you have to go for it. Essentially, I'm overthinking diamond!
The thing is that your basic mechanics are perfected from your 17,000 hours of this game. No one will be able to master the basic shots without playing that much.
yea he says here is the simplist air dribble, but he realize that its the first touch that sets up the rest of the shot but its one of the hardest parts to master
D3/ C1 player. You’re definitely right about people being within their correct rank. It’s just so frustrating because when I watch you beat these kids you make the game look so easy and make them look so slow by controlling the tempo of the game. But if I try to take my time and take a slow approach, I just get beat to the ball every time. And in ranks like these people don’t respect someone having possession, they just chase or cut off when they’re not “supposed” to. And not be one of those people but trying to watch objectively as I could so i can compare to my gameplay, and it just doesn’t seem the same. For instance at 2:39, when I play, someone will already be up there to challenge that 9/10 times.
Watching the second game, and hearing you say you havent seen any of the "mystical diamonds" that we talk about slightly bothers me. I love your videos squishy, you are a GOAT. But keep in mind, in these games, even though you are holding back massively, you are that mystical diamond we run into. Your rotation is flawless and your recovery times and accuracy, whether you are trying to be mechanical with your plays and movements or not, the natural mechanics you have with all of your hours really take over. Yes, there are some diamonds that can consistently speed flip, sure. Even a few that go for flip resets or ceiling reset shots and can attempt air dribbles. Their consistency is not great at these ranks, which is why us normal diamonds can sometimes still defend and even maybe win. they might score a few, but maybe more than half of the time, they overcommit and lose their control and give up the ball. People can do higher level mechanics and still suck. When I see Fast, Consistent positioning, and start feeling like I cant get more than a defensive touch that I cant control and the opponent controls the pace of everything.. then I start questioning them being in the same rank as me. When I see mechanics come out, such as directional air rolling air dribbles into a flip reset, and even something as small as the subtle air roll before taking a shot to add power or direction, all of this on top of being a fast and accurate player is when I decide somebody is Champ or above. Another side note, when you are doing a Road to SSL, on a new account, the MMR scaling is curved to give more MMR because of your lack of losses. It takes at least two wins for us just to get one division up all the way until roughly mid-champ, without winning consistently we spend hundreds of games in one rank. If a random you played with in one of these videos had the same mod to allow you to see MMR gains at the end of a match, they could easily see you are a new account based on everybody else getting 9 points of MMR while you get 30+. You can't fairly judge how a rank is these days when you aren't even in it for more than a few games when you keep a 100% win rate. I enjoy watching the games and getting tips, but there's such a bias from pro players about the different skill levels these days.. and having pro players in our lobbies, and hearing them saying they don't see any of the smurfs we talk about is crazy. No offense to you intended, but I just want to raise some awareness.
love watching these games from your perspective! i’ve played since 2016 and always bounced between high diamond - mid champ. nowadays i just play for the fun with friends, but seeing you score on people (that could probably beat me) with simple flips and shots really shows me how much you just need to slow down and simplify the game! great vid as always squishy boy!
Ur having low expectations of diamond players from how ur playin. Idk if it’s just my games but im hard stuck diamond 2-3 and majority of us speed flip double taps, reset, Musty’s, and crazy flicks.
None of you can do that consistently, or if you can, you're focusing on all the wrong things, hence why you're still in diamond. Who cares what mechanics you can do if you're stuck in diamond? Lol
Hey Squishy, after watching this video I hopped onto rocket league and implemented this playstyle. No joke, I went from c1 d1 to c2 d1 in around an hour and a half. I won 15 games and now at my peak. This playstyle is actually very good, considering that you don't really even need good mechs to play like this. Squishy, thanks for the informative video. Will continue to get better.
@@Theprinceofopposites I mostly just go for touches that are necessary and don't go for air roll aerials. I only use air roll for when im trying to re-adjust my car for recoveries or in the air so my car is in the right angle. I hit some of my best shots from barely using air roll. Also being patient is a great factor in the playstyle. Trust me, if I went for 2x more shots that were given to me it would've just ended in a waste of boost or being in a bad position. In summary: just use air roll for slight adjustments, be patient with the ball, let your teammates ball chase instead of yourself because you are given more opportunities if you sit. Defence is a important part of the playstyle because my defence is the main reason why we score. Champs like to overextend to our side and when they are confident, just hit it away from them and they lose possession, thus increasing chances of scoring. I can't remember fully every thing from the playstyle that I implemented, but I simply just played smart and only went for the touches that were necessary. In the end, champs are just diamonds who know a bit more mechs and are a bit more consistent. Pretty much meaning that they will still make mistakes. Find those mistakes and play off them. Your challenges are also really important. If your teammate is back at net and your playing shadow defence, go for the ball. It will make your teammates job easier. The main 3 things is work on your challenges or 50's, they are really important. Play patiently, let the enemy have the ball if its in a bad position, and play simple. Sorry for being a bit repetitive, not really good at explaining.
As a player in the range of your first 2 games this was fascinating to watch. Something I notice is that you are so much more patient than diamonds. We always try to drive around really fast and there are tons of 50s that really don't need to be
at 7:15 the way you go up the wall and controlled aerial into flip to clear the ball away is something I hardly ever see in D3 except if it's a smurf. That maybe a bit too OP for this rank to deal with
Ya,i hired a coach to take a look at some replays a while back and that was the thing he emphasized most to get out of this rank, getting that mechanic down.
I am only plat 2 in 2s but I play mostly with a friend that is gc2 and he coaches me through the games. Listening to how you are instructing how to play is spot on IMO. Keep it simple, play patient, don't challenge all the time, rotate, learn how to play defense, let them screw up and pass you the ball. Thanks for the video! :)
i feel like that all of us "mystical diamonds" can hit flip resets and good airieals. And me personallly felt for a long time that i was much better than the people i was playing against due to me not seeing my opponents do the mechanics i have done. And i have noticed that it is because we do it so rarely, and we can only do it when we have the perfect setup, and the problem for us is getting these good setups. That is just me personally, and i think loads of people can apply to that, even if they want to admit it or not.
The way squishy chuckles to the what a save from his teamate at 10:40 got me laughing. It’s crazy how eazy of a save that was compared to the professional rocket league shots he is used to saving😂
its so funny seeing some of the things squishy did in the diamond games because it might not look like much, but diamonds dont have as good control as him lmao
As a lifetime diamond 1-3 player it frustrates me to no end that so many streamers don't find the smurfy diamonds in their videos and downplay everyone's experiences since they don't see it themselves. Obviously, someone like you will be able to handle a smurf easily and it might not be as apparent to you but I swear there is at least 1 person every game or every other game that will flip reset, air dribble, power flick, etc... There are even quiet folks (playing like yourself) that just have unbelievable control and you can tell they are holding back because while we suck, we can tell who a good player is even if they aren't being saucy On another note, I love the advice you've given in your videos and all of it is relevant to the majority of diamond for sure.
Well, basic mechanics executed by a pro are hardly basic anymore. I think he recognized that though.. the consistency etc. What do i know though, i have like 250 hours in this game and he has 17,000... Ive been an electrician for 12 years working full time and i'm not confident i have 17,000 hours in that. So often in Diamond/Champ I can never tell who made the mistakes, whether it be me or my team mate. I can justify both motives and intention. So i just don't know if i need to fix it or rightfully dismiss it cause it wasn't me.
Loved watching you on the rlcs stream the other day Squishy. Such a cool dude, you made an impact on this game because you're impactful. I'm excited for your new content. Much love my dude ❤
would really like to see one of these pros get a hard stuck plat 3 account and bring it to champ, or hardstuck gold 3 and bring it up to diamond so they have more games in that rank so they have a bigger window of time that theyre in the rank so they can really see what we are going through and we can see more situations and have a more in depth guide to getting better in that rank
A tip that helped me in freeplay is high intensity intervals. Go super sonic and hit the ball and add challenges to it, don't let it bounce more than once and then go for PB's of how many consistent hits you can get hit. Then go slower, add mechanics or ball control. Simply add speed to anything you do and then you slowly get better at it
Us High diamonds/low champs aren't consistent enough at hitting shots when they matter in the few chances we have during the game, so the games end up being close and therefore difficult to win/rank up consistently. Even though you aren't doing fast shots, they are still well-placed. Also, with how few games you are spending in each rank, there isn't a chance to see the variation in players. My games feel like plat with some players and champ with others. TLDR: MECHANIC CONSISTENCY WINS
i love the little chuckles Squishy does when he goes for a shot with the most basic mechanics knowing that he could’ve scored it if he was actually trying 😂
Honestly, as a diamond 2, you blended in really well. Your game play honestly looked a lot like mine. But, like you said, you are just way more consistent with all your touches. But mechanically, you did really well
One of the reason the game lost most players is removing the trade system and fing SMURFS , if u dont do mistakes like positioning , touches , anything at all , you are just consistent on playing better than any of this ranks , you were playing at least 1 rank above those diamonds .
I like how throughout that entire first game ur teammate is all over you, trying his best to just get a touch on the ball even if it means completely borking up your play. You handled it so well, I'd be so tilted
Super helpful to see you just play simple RL. Your consistency with everything is unfortunately very un-diamond/champ haha. Ive been D3/C1 for over a year, so trust me! Your champ game represented most of my D3 games perfectly. They're a serious challenge for me, hence my hardstuckness Always love watching you play dude, thanks for upload
Thanks for your video series, it looks really cool. your standard mechanics look very easy, we have to practice a lot to touch the ball so accurately in the situations that arise for you
me watching this having been a d2 not too long ago and also being able to consistently fast aerial and speed flip and half flip and seeing squishy saying “i think some diamonds can speed flip” “oh wait that guy fast aerialed, we can fast aerial.” man squishy have some more faith in us, man really thinks we’re just absolute bots 😂💀
I'm going to have to rewatch this entire series, I started playing rocket league last year and have taken several month breaks in between. I just now got back into the game. The highest I have been is Plat 1 in 2v2s. It's very odd because it seems as if the game is going 10x slower on your screen compared to my screen. You make it look SO easy but I swear I have to do twice as much to get half the result in my rank. I don't know.
These diamonds look like plats. Im an old champ2-3. And im stuck at diamond 2 in doubles. Feel if you stayed in one rank longer you’d run into some people that would surprise you. Still love this series. Crazy to see the difference.
The difference is mostly between you and him though. He's on almost every ball, positioned perfectly and won't make a mistake and pass the ball to them all the time. If he stopped playing like a smurf, maybe we would be able to see some good plays, unfortunately he can't play any worse than that according to him. Watch him hit a triple flip resets when he gets to gc1, even though we barely score a single flip reset per game...
@@hamishcallander3130 was playing in diamond last night, successful half field double taps and air dribbles across the field were happening. They’re out there.
It's no joke, diamond you got all kinds of smurfs, most of the time people can speed flip kick off, occasionally you run into people that can flip reset/ceiling shot/air dribble.
While I agree with there being a smurfing problem, I said it on last video and I will say it again: Most people in diamond do not speedflip on kickoff. They diagonal flip but don't cancel (or cancel incorrectly) I.E. not a speedflip. Most people don't speedflip on kickoff until mid champ or so.
can't wait till you get around GC 2. I've been hard stuck for ages there love the series and that youre trying to help peopel like me keep it up much love
I like how Squishy preaches the basics but he's ignoring major key factors to his success. He has so many hours in the game he instinctively puts himself in the right position. Speed flips. And he already mentioned his consistency which you do not get over night. Good lessons here but its not as easy as 1.2.3. Also, I hate how RL has turned so toxic. Its C1. You're not gona lose your chance at becoming a pro for 1 loss. If you blame your teammate that much, learn 2 carry.
yeah I just started playing ranked and was placed in platinum 3 because I got carried. In WAY over my head. Super high speed gameplay, literally couldn't hit a ball because I can only do what are called "bad aerials". Down to gold 3 now and most players are still way better than me.
I really appreciate this video Squishy. I am diamond 3 in 3s and it makes a lot of sense when you say don't use air roll yet. You're awesome bro. I would love to play 🫶
@@abigma8310 let’s just assume that’s true, because it doesn’t matter right now. EU (servers) and middle eastern (servers) are separated. And middle eastern (servers) are filled with better players “typically”. I could only do 1 game in them since my ping was 200+ but I played like 5 games in EU and they were definitely more put together than my Nae teammates
JRader isnt a smurf. He is just a well seasoned stuck champ playing with diamond players that somehow crawl into c1 and c2 for a few games. Story of my life.
Idk how he got those diamonds but 2/3 matches i play ppl are like the champ game he played and my teammate is like his one second game so its a ez los cause i have to cover more options and he just misses and doesn’t follow the plays so they get ez cleanups
It’s funny seeing the tm8 in second game use the “This is rocket league” team chat with the dude who played in the game where that phrase was created🤯😂
I like how he sees one decent player with a grand champ title and instantly thinks he’s a Smurf while I had 2 GC titles and a green champ tournament title in a D3 game the other day. All solo queue
That capt-tmg teammate is the classic diamond teammate I get and can't win with, I try and let them do their thing and adapt, but doesn't quite work lol
near the end when you get the double tap in the last game you mention that the other player could probably do it too if he was in the right position for it but he wouldn't be, can you elaborate on that kind of stuff? You're set ups are so clean but your also in the place to be able to set up in the first place, and learning how to make those reads and position to get those set ups would be super helpful, especially for those of us around these ranks. I would also love it if maybe between matches you can talk about what mechs to practice and how, like your dribble to air dribbles are so smooth, how do you even do that?
Im at this rank for a quite some time, and here are the interesting things i noticed in this series of videos:
1. You dont flip when its not needed
2. Your usage of 50s is so good, you keep control of the ball in a lot of situations when i wouldve lost it;
Improve 50s and basic touches like a pop vs a power shot and you will go all the way to gc
Don’t forget that all his shots and touches are consistent , it’s very important to have that while playing to rank up as well , which is also very difficult to achieve if you don’t train and practice enough on these shots .
4. Go defend on the backboard for a clear (don't miss the ball when you jump) or for a catch to get possession

On the kickoff I think
LMAO yeah just noticed
He was talking about the kickoff 😐

The c1 player was not a smurf. This is how good I had to become to keep up in c1/ c2 as everyone can do those or dribble simmilarly well. I can't wait for 1100-1200 games because everything here from diamond was really accurate

@@astolfo11 Saying that two to three years ago, I'd agree. But nowadays, I'm not so sure.
@@nihility. im just about gc and i have absolutely terrible mechanics.
@@TrostCodesnah bro, @vvwast is saying this video is a display of squishy's vastly superior mechanics.....
perfect first touches, backboard d, total control of the game is all a demonstration of very high mechanics

@@TrostCodesfun fact quit crying cus u need basic mechanics if you want gc1+ if not then cry skill issue ur bad
he is just showing the fact that you dont need mechs to get to higher ranks. what you are trying to say is he needs to make the same mistakes you make wich is the reason you are stuck in diamond.
But all this is really not enough without
* the backboard save at 1:53, which is clearly not easy to a D2 player, where on top of actually getting a touch on the ball, you get it on the side of the car for the ball to fly high past the net, followed by a really good air-roll based recovery.
* The challenge with a single jump at 1:59 is great.. provided you can perfectly wave dash to recover. Otherwise, the time loss is monstrous considering the car position and this is just giving back the ball to the opponent
* The chip at 2:04 is genius (although technically hard to time for a D2 player) but should be a pass at that level. Jumping *instantly* for the follow up and outspeeding the opponents is not D2-level, and will just result in a bad double commit, potentially leading to a goal for the opponents oncounter attack, in such a lobby
*perfectly executed wave dash kickoff at 2:26: I am in c2-c3 lobbies and I don t see players doing wave dash kickoffs remotely as good.
Most people would be much slower to get boost/get around the field without the zap dash and would not have the same point of view on what follows, resulting in a wanky/maybe failed save at 2:33
*The perfect wall read at 2:36, confident enough to single jump in order to shoot the ball at net perfectly, is I think very hard for a D2.
It's like a "basic shadow-defense on a shot": the aerial itself is not hard, but reading the ball and the camera to get it right is very hard, and just reducing it to "it is a basic aerial that everyone can do" is just sweeping all the issues under the carpet.
bro wrote an essay
@@rubennrl5 See, when you suck at the game you have lots of time to write essays :p

You’ll climb ranks faster than ever before
This video was kind of a lie though
something that I've noticed with people that are less consistent mechanically (myself included at c2) is that your level of awareness is limited because of how much mental energy your spending on simply hitting the ball the way you want it to.
Like when I’m playing at my best, I’m playing at a GC lvl but that just isn’t sustainable and isn’t going to happen most session but it’s what motivates me to keep playing because I know what kind of player I can be
So your solution for focusing more on game sense is to practice more freestyle? thats insane xD
I have been stuck in D3/Champ 1 for a while now and seeing squishy casually play against this rank really puts in perspective how bad I am lmao

Diamond is honestly a cesspool that feels almost inescapable without crazy mechanics. It’s a minefield of type 1 and type 2 problems.
Interesting to note that current D3-C2 players were GC1/2 a couple of seasons ago. The hard reset and player base has changed things. Almost everyone at this rank has GC rewards.
yeah im a c3 and every game i play there is always a gc title or something that the others player got
i was gc 3, just recently grinded back up to gc 1 after a few months of c2-c3
yeah no, anyone who was legitimately gc1 or higher does not struggle with d3. c1 is pushing it. those are people who paid for the boost, then got dropped closer to their actual rank.
@@mewderator6410c2 is covered in gc titles and the skill level of who you play at this rank is so diverse. i peaked at gc1 last season and now i can hardly stay at c3. Its legitimately feels like smurfs or a deranked gc but its not

-wavedash recoveries including one after hitting the ball on kickoff

I know this is super late but the reason that the comments are saying that diamonds have “crazy mechanics” is because diamond is this magical rank where you’ll find players with 2 of 3 things: mechanics, consistency, or game-sense. For example, you’ll have players who are always where they need to be and get some crazy air-dribbles, but miss easy hits. Or someone who can’t do a basic dribble but is patient and always gets a good touch when they go. Champ is where people start to put all 3 together, and Grand Champ is where people have all 3 together, and add speed.

Dr.Diabestes and Dr. Muffinator is a great combo haha
Btw - the consistency of you knowing where the ball will go is the key thing that makes all the plays look easy.
The thing is that your basic mechanics are perfected from your 17,000 hours of this game. No one will be able to master the basic shots without playing that much.
yea he says here is the simplist air dribble, but he realize that its the first touch that sets up the rest of the shot but its one of the hardest parts to master
17k hrs is crazy

Will continue to get better.
what parts of his playstyle has helped you the most? I'm sitting around c1 myself, and wondering what I can be doing better
6:28 The What a Saving own teammate happens in Diamond a lot. People don't know how to take blame themselves
i feel like that all of us "mystical diamonds" can hit flip resets and good airieals.

There are even quiet folks (playing like yourself) that just have unbelievable control and you can tell they are holding back because while we suck, we can tell who a good player is even if they aren't being saucy
On another note, I love the advice you've given in your videos and all of it is relevant to the majority of diamond for sure.
Much love my dude ❤
love this series, thx for the content
The dirty laughter after He Said lets take a bad shot at the end 😂😂
would really like to see one of these pros get a hard stuck plat 3 account and bring it to champ, or hardstuck gold 3 and bring it up to diamond so they have more games in that rank so they have a bigger window of time that theyre in the rank so they can really see what we are going through and we can see more situations and have a more in depth guide to getting better in that rank
A tip that helped me in freeplay is high intensity intervals. Go super sonic and hit the ball and add challenges to it, don't let it bounce more than once and then go for PB's of how many consistent hits you can get hit. Then go slower, add mechanics or ball control. Simply add speed to anything you do and then you slowly get better at it
Squish deep undercover haha “we’re all diamond 2s here” 😂 love it
Us High diamonds/low champs aren't consistent enough at hitting shots when they matter in the few chances we have during the game, so the games end up being close and therefore difficult to win/rank up consistently.
Every time I watch these videos I always think about the good will hunting scene when matt Damon is burning that piece of paper
Honestly, as a diamond 2, you blended in really well. Your game play honestly looked a lot like mine. But, like you said, you are just way more consistent with all your touches.
But mechanically, you did really well
Just now watching a pro play this game for the first time...this is one of the most entertaining esports I've seen lol. How is this not more popular.
Teammate in that first game 😂😂😂... Looks exactly like every teammate i get when i solo
One of the reason the game lost most players is removing the trade system and fing SMURFS , if u dont do mistakes like positioning , touches , anything at all , you are just consistent on playing better than any of this ranks , you were playing at least 1 rank above those diamonds .
3:12 imagine being in diamond 2 trying your best and Squishy on the other team says I'll match anything you can do
it's quite insulting when you're suprised that diamonds can fast aerial lol
I like how throughout that entire first game ur teammate is all over you, trying his best to just get a touch on the ball even if it means completely borking up your play. You handled it so well, I'd be so tilted
you should try and get a 1v1 with any toxic players and/or smurfs you find
Hey just started my own rocket league and gaming channel, your one of my inspirations!
5:38 this guy says "missing shots these guys arent professional" and then proceeds to miss is class
yo that teammate in the first game kept tryna steal the goal and when he didnt he said nice shot😭🙏🏻
Super helpful to see you just play simple RL. Your consistency with everything is unfortunately very un-diamond/champ haha. Ive been D3/C1 for over a year, so trust me!
Your champ game represented most of my D3 games perfectly. They're a serious challenge for me, hence my hardstuckness
Always love watching you play dude, thanks for upload
That shot at around 8:10 was epic lol
Bro thank u so much for this series, I’ve gotten so much better
Thanks for your video series, it looks really cool. your standard mechanics look very easy, we have to practice a lot to touch the ball so accurately in the situations that arise for you
me watching this having been a d2 not too long ago and also being able to consistently fast aerial and speed flip and half flip and seeing squishy saying “i think some diamonds can speed flip” “oh wait that guy fast aerialed, we can fast aerial.” man squishy have some more faith in us, man really thinks we’re just absolute bots 😂💀
I wish I could go from division 3 to promotion in one game lol. I gotta win 3 games to go up one division. 👀
I agree 100%. The plats I play against can air dribble, speed flip and usually hit on net pretty regularly.
Facts
lol ok
@@hamishcallander3130 was playing in diamond last night, successful half field double taps and air dribbles across the field were happening. They’re out there.
squishy: scores 1 touch air dribble the diamonds: NICE SHOT! WOW!
"J rader joes" 😂 It goes Trader Joe's my man. Love watching your videos lucky to learn from you!!!
It's no joke, diamond you got all kinds of smurfs, most of the time people can speed flip kick off, occasionally you run into people that can flip reset/ceiling shot/air dribble.
Bro, speedflip in Diamond is common. Im Diamond and I speedflip on kickoff
I see people learning speed flips in plat 1. Im trying my best to learn it, I can do it, but not consistently hit the ball on kickoff.
@@PrivarisYT Im in plat and have gotten very good at speed flips. Now I just need to figure out how to hit the ball on kickoff LOL
can't wait till you get around GC 2. I've been hard stuck for ages there love the series and that youre trying to help peopel like me keep it up much love
Squishy this is the best series you’ve ever made ❤
I like how Squishy preaches the basics but he's ignoring major key factors to his success.
2:30 i have been plat ranked for a while, and let me say, even plat 2's and 3's are speed flipping about 1/3 of the time maybe
yeah I just started playing ranked and was placed in platinum 3 because I got carried. In WAY over my head. Super high speed gameplay, literally couldn't hit a ball because I can only do what are called "bad aerials". Down to gold 3 now and most players are still way better than me.
good vid. points out everything you should practice to get unstuck, hopefully i can find him in one of my lobbies in diamond.
I really appreciate this video Squishy.
I am diamond 3 in 3s and it makes a lot of sense when you say don't use air roll yet. You're awesome bro. I would love to play 🫶
Squishy the kinda guy to say "I'm SSL in my main" and prove it
EU diamonds are where u see the 'mystical diamonds'
No it’s middle eastern players that are more mechanical
@@Treityn. middle east in in Europe lol
@@abigma8310 Huh???
@@abigma8310 let’s just assume that’s true, because it doesn’t matter right now. EU (servers) and middle eastern (servers) are separated. And middle eastern (servers) are filled with better players “typically”. I could only do 1 game in them since my ping was 200+ but I played like 5 games in EU and they were definitely more put together than my Nae teammates
JRader isnt a smurf. He is just a well seasoned stuck champ playing with diamond players that somehow crawl into c1 and c2 for a few games. Story of my life.
Definitely keep this series up
New Season LETS GO!! Much love Squish!
Idk how he got those diamonds but 2/3 matches i play ppl are like the champ game he played and my teammate is like his one second game so its a ez los cause i have to cover more options and he just misses and doesn’t follow the plays so they get ez cleanups
U wanna talk about mystical diamonds that you don’t see what you don’t realize is you’re the mystical diamond lmao
It’s funny seeing the tm8 in second game use the “This is rocket league” team chat with the dude who played in the game where that phrase was created🤯😂
I really like this series, it’s very valuable to have your advice on some situations!
I like how he sees one decent player with a grand champ title and instantly thinks he’s a Smurf while I had 2 GC titles and a green champ tournament title in a D3 game the other day. All solo queue
The partied high diamond low champ players are way better than the non-partied ones you were playing against.
thank you i think u're the best coach ngl i love that serie
First time tuning in. And bro you make it look so easy 😂 glad I came across this. Thanks
