Well done! Fixing appliances is a great money saver. I bet we're the only ones on our street without a dishwasher. Previous residents took it with them. So I installed the microwave and built a big drawer in that space. Hand wash for life! 🖐🧼 j/k sometimes I wish we had one, especially when everyone is home...
Thanks for this video! It helped me troubleshoot my 2-year old DW. Thought it was a faulty latch, so I bought one and no joy. Did a continuity test as per this video and the brand new latch failed the test. Sent it back. Put the old one back in and the DW works. I had previously reset the latch lever on the old one and it didn't help, probably because I did not turn off the breaker switch when I reset the old latch the first time. The DW controller needed reseting most likely and I think switching the breaker off and then back resets it.
We tape up the breaker too, just in case. The rattle gave it away. The phones are handy for pictures when you need it. I'm just happy I don't have to do the dishes. Great fix Lloyd. Happy!
It seems like appliances just don't last as good as they used too. I plan on replacing the relay on the old circuit board and save it for next time. And if I don't forget I have it the repair will go quickly...lol. Thanks
Great job! We've gone through 2 dishwashers in 20 years. They just don't hold up with our hard water. It messes with the little sensors and wheels in the pump system.
We have excellent water and we still have issues with our newer appliances. The days of twenty year old, trouble free major appliances may be a thing of the past. A Samsung dishwasher lasted 18 months before a pump seal leaked and damaged the ceiling below it. The new Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher lasted 24 months before the control board failed. I just installed a new Whirlpool dishwasher, the third machine in five years.
@@nomebearwe built a house and moved into it in February this year…it’s June now and our brand new gallery dishwasher is messed up. Warranty just expired too…I’m so mad!!
Good diagnosis run down Lloyd. Narrow it down. I thought right away circuit board, but you did the process of elimination to make sure, some good pointers. I did the same with our dishwasher and found a RUclips video on how to fix it, imagine that.
Mine is just a year old..well, 13 months old. Just pass warranty of course! The 3 lights are blinking, so i am searching for the fix. NEVER FRIGIDAIRE AGAIN!
We know who's doing the dishes tonight. Not you Lloyd! haha I have had good luck soldering in new relays or capacitors on appliance circuit boards fixing the problem for stuff like that. 👍
Good thing the circuit board was still available. That seems to be a problem with a lot of appliances these days. Good job, Lloyd. Merry Christmas! :-)
I was prepare to replace the relay if it came down to it. But the circuit board was available. I will order a relay to install on the old board later to have a back up if needed later . Thanks Dale
our dishwasher quit some time back but it was still under warrentee so they came out and put a whole new control panel,, sometimes this modern stuff is not all that durable.
Nice methodical diagnosis and repair for the win! Great video, good narrative as always. You probably saved $120.00 labor on a service call. Work safe, enjoy your weekend too. Doug@ the "ranch"
Hey Rusty my unit has this similar dishwasher. Its a new model but with the top display setup like yours. I ran a cycle, seems like the cycle ran, and once I heard no more noise, or water draining. I opened it and since that there are no lights showing on the top display ie. cant run another cycle OR anything. What could be the issue?
Easy fix this time ! Talking dish washers, my wife & I kind of have a deal. Since she's a better cook we have this deal that she does the cookin & I do the dishes !!. Our dish washer still sits in a store somewhere .☹☹
I don’t understand what you did to fix it. Did you order a new circuit board? I took the circuit board out of mine, and it’s making the exact same noise when I shake it.
I ordered a brand new board. The brand new board makes the same loose clicking noise from that component. So, if it's making that noise, it's not necessarily broken... The new board DID fix my machine though. So, in the end, this video was helpful.
I'm getting the code PF for power failure. I checked the Switch using a multimeter and it was OK. Not sure about replacing the control board because it's $232 from Sears. Is it worth it?
I have an issue with the control panel but before ordering one I want to make sure that's the problem not the control board. One button all the way to the left and 4 more to the right including Start button does not light up when pressed. They all stopped working at the same time. How can I confirm they are the problem before ordering an expensive replacement?
I have the same model as that one. No matter what wash cycle I hit, when I close the door it changes to the rinse cycle of 17 minutes. Any Ideas? Touch pad works. Seems like a bad circuit board. I am getting ready to take it apart, never done it before.
I would check the same things I mentioned in the video. Check and see if it functions on a different cycle. If it does the same thing it is likely the circuit board. Good luck

Thanks, I have liked repairing my own things, something I learned from my Dad. Wishing you a great Christmas and New Years

Sounds like you have it figured out
all those years i worked on aircraft locking out the switches and breakers is a must, great repair Lloyd good to see you are up and running
Thanks and I agree Bob, wishing y’all a great Christmas and happy New Year
@@RustyGlovebox thank you Lloyd i wish you and yours a blessed season stay as safe as you can and best wishes

Thanks Pat, yep glad I got it going , my hands were getting chapped...lol. Enjoy the holidays and ride those bikes when you can.
Thanks Lloyd, you too.
We have a win. I could see myself not give it a shake test and miss the breaker but not now . Thanks Lloyd I will remember this for sure 👍
Thanks Steve, I'm saving that circuit board and replacing the relay for next time. Have a great week.
We had to do exactly the same on our dishwasher over the summer and it is about the same age as yours. Thanks for sharing the information
It seems like appliances just don't last as good as they used too. I plan on replacing the relay on the old circuit board and save it for next time. And if I don't forget I have it the repair will go quickly...lol. Thanks

Yep, appliances just don't last like the used to. Designed to fail I guess. Thanks and enjoy the holidays.

Very knowledgeable Rusty, thanks for the fix on this. I will share on Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest for others who will find this fix helpful!
Thanks , appreciate you my friend
My wife is wishing that ours would take a dump because she wants a new one LOL. Good fix Lloyd.
I hear you Ron, this is the first failure for this one in 7 years so maybe it will last another 7now...lol Thanks and enjoy the holidays my friend

I agree, it seems it is the luck of the draw how long an appliance will last sometimes. Thanks Vernon
Great video as usual👍 Looking forward to what’s next. Have a great day my friend.
Thanks for stopping by. I will be going over to your channel.
your skills are endless
I was lucky to have good teachers in my working career. It has helped me be self-reliant throughout my life. Thanks Dan
Of course I knew you could diagnose it! Good video.
Thanks PAPA!
Great fix Lloyd . ENJOYED !!
When I heard the relay rattling I felt sure it was bad but I checked the other parts to play it safe. Thanks Shawn
Looks like we both had dishwasher issues recently. Had to replace the control board in ours too.
Good to know. I'm getting experience at fixing appliances lately. It's always something.
We always take them for granted till you push the button and nothing happens. Thanks Terry
You probably saved a good chunk of change doing that yourself lol repairman ain’t cheap hope your Christmas was good Lloyd
Thanks Jeff, yep had to get it back up and going before I had to start washing some dishes myself. Have a get New Year
@@RustyGlovebox haha yeah I agree happy new year too you guys
Pretty easy fix, good to see ya Lloyd.
I missed the actual fix. Did you replace the board or the relay?
I replaced the circuit board but saved the old board to replace the relay for next if it time happens. Thanks Perry

Thanks Doug, it has been working great. Have a great weekend and take care
Good fix, saved a few big-ones $$$
I agree Buzz, it went well and was able to get a replacement circuit board without much trouble. Thanks
Wooow nice your vidios👍🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much!
So, did you clean the relay contacts? Did you replace the relay? Did you replace the board? Curious. Thanks Lloyd, great fix in the end. Cheers!!
I replaced the complete board , the relay was toast. I plan on ordering a relay to keep for later if it ever goes out again. Thanks

That's a good agreement, much less chance for break downs that way. Thanks Robert
Now that saved you some money, and will likely save me some when the time comes to fix the dishwasher here.
I hope to replace the relay on the old board to have a backup if needed in the future. Thanks
@@RustyGlovebox lol because that "need a backup now" thing never happens.
What did you have to go on the circuit board. Was it just the contacts burnt
Nice work Lloyd, that saved you some money 💵, :) 😎👍✌️
Yes indeed Tom, it seems they always go down at the worst time. Thanks
Thanks for this video!
Glad it was helpful!

You are right about that Roger. Repairing appliances a lot of the time is cheaper than replacing it. Have a great week.
I'm getting the code PF for power failure. I checked the Switch using a multimeter and it was OK. Not sure about replacing the control board because it's $232 from Sears. Is it worth it?
If you take the board off . There is a small relay that is on the board. You can replace the relay if you think that is what it is. Good luck

Sorry for the late reply, I have been away but sounds like the panel from what you're saying , Good luck.
So did you replace the relay, not to clear on that part?
@@howardpilot4590 I did not replace the relay but replaced the complete circuit board. Thanks

Is there a part number I can have for this replacement circuit board. I’m having a hard time finding one online.
Amazon has it.

Nice fix!!! ;-)
Thanks Bill 👍
Good trouble shouting Lloyd, it is always a big advantage if you know the basics of electrics and electronics, I am not there yet lol
Thanks Jan, it made me feel confident that I was replacing the correct part that failed.

Why not? It's in the circuit.
