If you do a plasmid only run for BioShock 2, as a heads up, Telekinesis 3 is hilariously broken. Everything smaller than a Big Daddy becomes an instant rag doll.
Sadly i think you can only use telekinesis 3 in the final area, meaning it isn’t TOO broken all things considered. Still fun when you get it though!
If only they gave us ng+ for 2 god dammit
I get the feeling Lemon is gonna try going the fire lord route again. I mean nit works in this vid right?
@@imonke5303 new game is the NG+ for BS2
@@zeroakira584 Which should be fun, considering Incinerate is even MORE op in bioshock 2; probably my favourite plasmid in that game honestly.
I've never felt a greater connection to someone than when Lemon says "I need someone to validate my parking, and also I need someone to explain what validating parking means"
Seriously what does it mean?!!!
@@shadowrosegaming3566 Probably it is the act of getting an aproval on a special parking ticket, sometimes they do that in office buildings parking area, you get a ticket when entering and you either pay by it on the way out or you get a stamp for free parking. The idea behind it is that if you are a scheduled vistor(or you are on some other official buisness) you get to park there for free, if you are just there to park, than you will pay.
Though i am not sure if it is called "paking validation" or what not.
@@Shonicheck Yeah, it's called parking validation. And you summed it up pretty well.

I know being nice to the Little Sisters gives good tummy feels and all but I think in the long run it is actually mechanically better than harming them. The gifts you get feel like they add up to more than what you lose in the moment and there are special plasmids for being good. The one that makes Big Daddies your buddy was the only plasmid I used a lot of when I played this game all those many many moons ago.
Someone ran the math and you are correct you get more Adam by a hilarious amount
It takes a while because you only get gifts every few little sisters you rescue, but the difference in raw adam is negligible and is arguably made up by the fact the gifts have unique gene tonics and plasmids, namely hypnotize big daddy
Yea and verily
You lose out on like 20 Adam, which frankly makes 0 difference, and you get unique things in return as well. They basically incentive the good path while making you think they don't
I always hated how strong you feel in this game, it really makes me wish that resources were a lot more scarce, it would be a lot more satisfying to have the reward for saving little sisters be the outcome of my character, rather then the reward being just objectively way better then if you go the evil route the game trys to convince you is the easier route
"When a parking ticket is "validated," it typically means the establishment a parking customer visited is paying for at least a portion of their customer's parking, up to 100% of the parking price. As a parker, getting your parking validated is a benefit of making a purchase at a business."
That's such an american thing, making people pay to park in the first place.
@@Her_Imperious_Condescensionit's not only American, believe it or not a building sized place to park cars is not free to build and maintain, so it makes sense that people that use it pay to keep it in order
The Harvest/Rescue struggle speaks to me. Every now and again, I try to play a game as a "bad guy", be it renegade in Mass Effect or whatever... I usually make it about 30 minutes in at most before I have to start over, because I simply cannot bring myself to play like that.
The problem with bioshock 1 is that it is actually more beneficial in the long run to be the "good guy" which sort of defeats the point. But here we are.
@@Some_Really_Random_Dude. I didn't know that at the time. However, I tried the harvest side once, and only once. I had such a visceral reaction that I never did it again.
@@Some_Really_Random_Dude. i think choosing to rescue the little sisters should've "punished" the player by giving zero/ almost zero adam to really hammer in the struggle to survive in Rapture at that point in time
@@ruileite2634 that was the idea during development but publishers made them change it
I get that. I made it about an hour into Mass effect 2 as full renegade, and then I decided to play as Paragon again.
The fact that this gem is FREE really hits home how old I am. My dad bought it for me on Xbox after I begged him for it in grade school. I played the demo and instantly fell in love. I memorized the whole demo from the plane crash to entering the medical pavilion.

Ha ha, grade school? The game isn't that ol-- Oh no... I'm the old.
It's so hard to *not* do a Wrench Run in this game. The Wrench is just so damn effective after a couple upgrades.
The mark of a Shock-like is being able to complete a playthrough using only a wrench-adjacent blunt object to deal damage
Fun fact: Saving the little sisters will actually give you a larger amount of adam when they leave a gift along with other useful items.
No , it won't.
You're still 40 short every 3 sisters. 440 saving vs 480 harvesting.
And if you use the extra little sisters glitch , there's no gift for the 24th sister.
In both game harvesting gets more ADAM , saving gets you Plasmids and Tonics that are otherwise unavailable.
@@robertmurdock1848 Eh, the Plasmids and Tonics make up for the lost Adam, in my opinion. Besides, I’d rather our boy Jack get an actual family who loves him, then him unleashing Splicers upon the world.
@@decimation9780
Yeah , on Survivor or Hard difficulty , having Hypnotize Big Daddy is handy.
But on my first successful Survivor run , I skipped the BD fights until I used the camera as much as possible and got the crossbow. Then I went back to engage the BDs , without using that plasmid in that run.
@@robertmurdock1848 The Crossbow is indeed big damage.
I never even *needed* that much ADAM
Tonic slots are finite so buying all the stuff in Gatherer's Garden feels like overkill
Someone probably already mentioned it, but there is a nice use for that freeze blast in a run like this. You can zap electronics to stop them before you hack them. You can also freeze them instead. If you freeze them, than the security minigame will also be slower and thus easier to succeed
Ulterior motive being nice to the little sisters, the "good guy" bonus at the end and not getting shithoused by Big Daddies all the time

Yeah, turns out it’s the best weapon in the game
With some perks, it's probably one of the greatest weapons in the game
@@pendarazaripoor4296 it actually can do the most damage in one hit of any weapon in the game with the right combination of gene tonics, camera research and electrobolt. I think wrench lurker increases the damage on unaware enemies by like 4x? And theres a mk2 version that stacks with it.
@@everythingsalright1121 yeah that's what I was getting at. I did a wrench only run years ago and my setup was basically the same thing as you said
@@pendarazaripoor4296 At the hardest difficulty you can literally just beat big daddies to death with the freeze wrench and just swinging till they die. It's honestly kinda funny that the melee weapon in 1 and 2 were the best weapon

I did try a melee build, just not too good at dodging hits for it to work.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that he got the good ending by saving all the little sisters in a plasmids only run despite harvesting them yielding more Adam? This man has skill and a good set of morals.
Saving them in the long run actually yields much more Adam, genes and tonics. The loss in immediate Adam is a measly difference of 20 so there’s really no reason to harvest them
@@kakyointhemilfhunter4273 technically you lose out on about 300 adam between saving them all and harvesting them all.
@@kakyointhemilfhunter4273 It doesn't yield more adam to the contrary you gain 280 adam less if you save them all but you get tonics and plasmid you can't have any other way, on top of ammo and ressources.
I saved all and never been short on Adam so yeah it's more of moral dilemma than greediness
There's something curious about Bioshock's story that I find very interesting:
You play as a man who has nothing. No name, no family, no history, no home and basically no free will. And through the game you work for and against two men who have or have had everything. Ryan, who became rich out of luck and who built Rapture and was basically its God for a time, and Atlas/Fontaine, who came from nothing and built an empire. You're basically the pawn used by a King to usurp another.
The one choice, the only true choice you have in the game (outside of the meta-choice of "not playing") is to show mercy to a small group of people who are as much pawns in a greater game as you are. And if you choose to show mercy, to spare their lives even though at first glance it would have been more advantageous for you to just kill them, if you choose not to abuse those at your mercy like the ones controlling you are, at the end of it all you're the one having everything.
A god was killed, and king was brought low, and then there was you. A man who came from nothing and made his own history, who found a family for himself and at the end of his days died peacefully of old age, surrounded by loved ones.
Three men started their stories with nothing. The first got lucky, found petrol in his backyard and went on to build and be King of a great city, but had to watch his city burn and died at the hands of a slave. The second man worked hard and built an empire of crime, and used a slave to kill the King and become King himself, and tried to become a God, but he was killed by slaves. And then there is you, whose only choice was to show mercy to children or not.
This is an excellent way to begin the weekend, really like your videos man 😁
The fact its 2022 and this game still looks so great that it would hold against many titles today shows how 2007 was different from the gaming. Hell the telekinesis and fire still looks amazing.
Edit: For people saying "remaster" I didnt knew he had it, as I believed he is still playing original because of the way Jack hands look.
Well to be fair, this seems to be the remastered version from 2016. Still, a game with strong style and presentation for sure.
Somehow, it’s dated presentation gives it a unique look

I'd would so love to see this challenge done with Bioshock 2.
Oh nice! I feel like the Bioshock games are a relatively untapped market for challenge runs
Check out some speedruns for the game, those are insane
Hey, I did this challenge just on my own like 6 or 7 years ago. Other than the very first guy you have to kill with a wrench you can do the whole thing plasmids only! You can kill that second splicer in the water, you need to zap the water itself, not the splicer. Those little planters in the room with the elevators have water you can kill the splicers with electro bolt with too.
Are you talking about the original or the remaster? The very first splicer takes contact damage from the burning bench he pushed downstairs (it doesn't set him on fire though). The room with the one-two punch splicer has 3 puddles (1 near the window and 2 next to the airlock you just went through). Zapping the first one results in electric effects, but those don't stun or damage the splicer. The other 2 puddles aren't even considered water, so zapping them is the same as zapping the floor.
@@ViApp0 Original, never bothered with the remakes as they are unnecessary. You can lure all the splicers into the elevator room with planters full of water that can be electrocuted. There's no water in the game that produces the visual electric effect without damaging, but some of it is very small and finnicky. It is absolutely doable, maybe it got ruined in the remake but there's literally no reason to play it; the game's aren't old enough to warrant one and the "improvements" are hardly noticeable.
@@mightystu49 Yeah I get that the planters in the elevator room have water. But you can't take the "one-two punch" guy there because the door is locked if he's alive. So you're saying that the puddle near the window works? Guess you'd have to take a couple of hits to get him in the proper position.
@@ViApp0 Yep, they do very little damage so you can tank a bit there to get it.
@@mightystu49 I tested it again and zapping this puddle next to the window is different from zapping water in the planters or the Kashmir restaurant. A circle of electric sparks appears for a moment, but the water doesn't stay electrified, it's like a purely cosmetic effect. That's on 1.1 GOG version.
I absolutely love the look of bioshock, the story and Atlantis inspired city combine into an absolute banger of a game
Theres a lot of interesting lore. Especially the prelude to the rapture civil war
And also a heavy criticism of the libertarian ideology, with major hints like Andrew Ryan being an semi-anagram of Ayn Rand
Would you kindly do Bioshock 2 too?
I love how he didn't even make it past the tutorial level before he answered the question posed by the title with a resounding "no".
He has to use plasmids to cause damage, but if he has to use weapons to further the story then he will; He says that in the video.
"Oh, there you are", someone tell me why it gets a chuckle out of me everytime he says it.
2:42 you CAN but its like ten times less efficient than intravenous injection, and given how limited ADAM is as a resource, it's much more cost efficient this way. (see Vigors vs. Plasmid debate)
yep that's how drugs work here too brother
I remember how much I loved BioShock when it first came out. Maybe it's time to replay them again
Great video man! I remember beating the game at the time with a wrench only (and plasmids..)
One of my all time favourites
Keep up the good work!
After seeing this, I will say that when you do the Wrench Only run, Bolt is totally allowed to give the extra damage on the stunned hit, since when not used on water, it does no damage. Plus, it'll help with more annoying versions of Splicers like Spiders.
Plus, I like the thought of Lemon just 1-2-Punching everything in the game after hitting them with the equivalent of a static shock.
Mitten Squad (rip) did an awesome run.
I heard some really good opinions about this game, and even thought about playing it myself. Thanks to you, i'm not gonna. Don't get me wrong, i loved watching, and i don't mind spoilers, it's just that i can't stand playing something even remotely scary. Didn't realize it's like that beforehand. Sooo... thanks for letting me experience it
It's scary until you realize you can blow every enemy away!
I used to be that way as well but I slowly eased my way into stuff and BioShock was one of those firsts, yes there's some creepy jump scary type parts but it's less scary and more creepy/unnerving 99% of the time, plus you have stuff like shotguns that blow enemies away in a hit or two.
You should have explained what plasmids are and what problems going plasmid only might cause. like how you explained the pros and cons of xcom units or darksouls weapons
I love Bioshock, thank you for reminding me how good of a time it was and how much fun I had as a kid. Would love if you played some more of the games!!
I might in the minority here, but I liked Bioshock 2 more than Bioshock. Maybe it was because you played as one of the very enemies you fought in the first game
Okay but this is so wonderfully timed. I just recently restarted the bioshock series as a fun nostalgia trip during streams and finished bioshock 1 last night. Glad to see this from an amazing content creator. Hats off to you, Lemon, for the wonderful timing.
My name's Andrew and him saying hi Andrew early in the video while I was trying to sleep scared the shit outta me
You know I really wish I could re live this game for the first time all over again I absolutely fell in love with it. Sander Cohen was my favorite character for just how creepy he was and I loved finding the secret areas like his wild bunny recording. And then the whole Atlas/Fontaine reveal I remember that blew my teenage brain. Never could bring myself to harvest the little sisters tho I did once and felt so bad I restarted the entire level.

@@StarkiiL I guess everyone just had the urge to play BioShock right now
Am I the only one who kinda likes the hacking minigame? Maybe it's because I spent a good chunk of the time I was allowed on the family computer playing Pipedream, but...
I imagine that this was actually a build that they had in mind when designing the game, at least vaguely. You can think of the game as having three "classes" in the form of Guns, Hacking, and Plasmids. While it's unusual to use one over the others exclusively, most problems are designed to be solvable with just one of the three.
What also helps is that Bioshock heavily values "player-made solutions". Problems often aren't designed with just one solution in mind, the player is allowed to make up their own solutions to problems.
The bioshock ending while saving lil sisters is one of the most wholesome ending in games they all get married but still are there when jack is on death bed because their lives was essentially gave back to them by him so they love and care for him until the end ... perfect daughters big dadies are proud girls !
I remember this being on my 360 that I got used, started playing up to the elevator part, got to rapture, saw one splicer, and noped out of the game and never played it again!
I was completely convinced this was a horror game.
Absolutely would have continued watching it without the minecraft role play commentary happening over it. Definitely a poor attempt at voice acting or comedy. Really unfortunate.
