Lmfao it took me 15 years to realize why I related to this character so much (I'm not autistic but adhd made me act quite similar to minty growing up esp when i wasnt masking) I always wondered why there weren't more girl show characters like her. Clumsy, funny, forgetful and impulsive but not stupid and still valued by her peers!

this was back when they were actually made for little girls. They were really soft and pretty looking, appealing for their demographic. You see the toys that are being produced today and they don’t even have brushable hair. Their cute and all, but they seem like figurines, not toys- and not made for young children as the intended demographic. I remember my sister and i learned how to braid hair with our ponies- its a little thing like that, but it really made the toys more interactive and lovable. My niece who’s only 7 likes the old toys and shows too. i think they’re just more appealing.
g1 too. i love fantasy magical horses a lot and i think g1-g3 r perfect for that. i love g4 but i dont they r pony like. g5 3d designs look a little pony but the humans r still human unfortunately

somehow, it took me until a month ago, at 21, to find out I was autistic. Going back and watching a very minty christmas with this knowledge made me realize why I loved and related to minty so much… She really feels like an accurate representation of how I think. Sometimes my brain just feels like a jumbled up confusing mess, and I can’t really explain it, but she nails it all so well,,,
Minty's special will always be my favorite one. I had no idea people saw her as a representative of the autistic community, but now I love her even more.

Kimono is such a cool character, too. It’s a shame she only really appeared in the first special and never again. She has so much story potential, like why doesn’t she live in town and why does she possess so much knowledge? Is she some kind of pony God? G3 really would have benefitted from some TV show, it’s such a shame it only got specials. They were good specials, but I want to see more of the characters! Especially Minty and Pinkie Pie, they’re sooo cute together.

Minty talking about socks is literally me talking about my own sock collection, my obsession with animals since I was a baby, my stuffed animal collection, my husband, my favourite colours, favourite ponies, and my favourite video games. I swear as a kid you'd say literally anything and I'd ONLY respond with random animal facts. I'm glad I started getting shy in high school, leaving me to observe how other people conversate and learn that way instead of embarrassing myself.

I loved minty as a kid! Im not autistic, but i feel like i related to her with my ADHD. Her being awkward and forgetful really spoke to me, i think. I had the christmas special on dvd and watched it all the time, i also had a singing doll. It was very strange to my parents, because i hated the color pink, and i couldnt stand mint flavor.

I'm autistic and I'm not sure how to feel xD on one hand, yes, we miss social cues and jokes often need to be explained etc, but we're not dumb or "bimbo-esque" or anything close. So I'm conflicted, but having representation in my most treasured love since 1984 is pretty darn cool. ^^

I don't think Minty is dumb tbh. She just misses the jokse and over-explains things because she doesn't pick up on figures of speech that well, and she communicates with other people so that she can be understood. Other things like her particularism with the candy cane and it breaking can be explained as lack of coordination and needing things to be completely "right", not uncommon with autism. Exc. Perhaps autistic people can be seen as dumb by people because they do not understand social cues and have a tendency to communicate in ways allistic people do not understand. You have to keep in mind that someone like Minty is probably trying to overcompensate for their difficulties navigating social interactions, which can lead to them seeming unfocused because they have to keep more things in mind at any given time than the average person.
Minty isn’t dumb either, just like us, she has a different thought process!

I relate to minty so hard. For manyyy reasons , but a big one is I literally do the same exactly laugh mannerism she does! Like exactly! Just in my pitch and sound of voice (deeper and def less nasally obviously, she’s a cartoon pony lol) but sometimes I don’t realize it’s as obvious or loud as I thought in my head, so I tend to get really embarrassed about it. It also just isn’t as I guess “conventional” as an average chuckle or giggle or smth idk LMAO… but seeing it represented in a character people love and who is treated normal just being who she is in the show makes me feel better about my lil laugh mannerism. Maybe it’s not the embarrassing cringefest I thought it was, maybe it can even be unique and maybe even cute to some people.
Minty was, and still is, my comfort character. I just love her and everything about her, and I can even see myself doing those kinda things that she does in the show sometimes. I relate to her, but I don't think I have autism. Anyways, great character, great video, great everything.

She is the best, I grew up watching this gen of mlp a lot and she was my favorite. I watched the Christmas movie that had her as the main character every Christmas, and still have the DVD.

I never watched Gen 3 My Little Pony as a kid (or teenager when I was at the height of my MLP:FiM obsession), but from this video, it actually looks a lot better than I was expecting. Minty is such a cute character too, with her endearing clumsiness, and contagious laugh! I can definitely see why she seems to be the fan-favourite pony among Gen 3 fans! I might have to watch some Gen 3 MLP some time after I finish my re-watch of Gen 4.

Huh. Never associated her personality with autism, but I admittedly don't know it firsthand to recognize it. When G4 started giving Derpy a lot more lines, the behavior felt a little similar, except the voice sounds more like Wysteria, hahah.(It's all the same voice actor though, all 3)
I've been collecting up her G4 merch ever since first spotting her Build-A-Bear pony several years back and being like OMG VERY MINTY CHRISTMAS. She and G3 Rainbow Dash were my favorites as a kid. My mom was a bit of an MLP collector so I grew up on G1 and G3 shorts and toys from all 3 generations until G4 came along, which was an adjustment period but I warmed up to it with time, heh. Minty is best AllGenerationPony(except 2 but no one was in 2 really)
