      few thoughts for modern pseudo-intellectuals.
caste did not originate in hinduism. caste is modern form of tribes which had been existing for thousands of years, from the time of ancient humans. most of the tribes declined to engage with other tribes and maintained their identity by strictly following endogamy. every tribe from early human period, used to practice endogamy and were involved in struggle against other tribes. such conflicts kept going in entire ancient history. it is difficult for us to see it now because we feel that from ancient times all people used to just live together and brahmanas created divisions. no. different tribes came together and formed a society which worked for each other. division was already there. caste lines persist because people don't want to forget their ancestory, their roots, their forefathers. once the caste line is diminished, there will be no pure blood line and hence the matter of pride in deeds of their forefathers will be gone. so people take caste seriously, even now. it's complete waste of time to try to eliminate caste. castes have always been there, and it will remain there. you can fight against discriminatory practices on basis of caste. you can't fight against caste system. because it gives an identity to all people whether it's lower caste or it's upper caste.

Reservation will give opportunity not equality.
Diversity Training: WHY Indian upper caste do not get enraged for violence against dalits the way white people in west fight for rights of non whites.
Recently many people discussed this issue on social media ( you tube atleast some dalit media channels.)
      There are many reasons.
Biggest one is theory of karma , which makes people believe dalits deserve the life they got due to past life karmas and any thing they get to mitigate their bad situation is non deserving and kind of favor to them. This is at subconscious level and people hardly recognize it. But let's keep that for other time as it by itself a very deep and broad topic.Another reason is white guilt against racism vs Caste pride in subcontinent. Let's keep that for some other time as well.
      Coming to the issue:
BECAUSE most people don't see caste system as an Issue or atleast their issue. They don't see how caste system has harmed nation for miliniums and still doing it.
For educated upper caste: they see some intercaste marriage between upper castes and declare caste system non existent.
Most of them know Caste system through reservation system and start hating undeserving lower castes because they do not know and are not taught history of the land and why we came to this point. For them it's unjust ( technically they are right it's positive descrimination in favor of dalits) and need to go.
When upper caste say real issue is economic status and reservation should be on that basis they have middle class or poor in mind but they have no idea what actual poverty is in villages and condition of poorest which belong to dalit Community. They can't see that these dalits are not only kept poor but exploited and humiliated for generations and it's high time upper caste India realize how selfish they are being when they choose to ignore this fact. Conversely, you see in West presence of "White guilt" where white people are ready accept historic wrong doings and are ready to fight to amend it. That is due to education and diversity Training.
They are not taught how for thousands of years dalits were not allowed into temples, segregated from society and only after constitution they got basic human rights.
They don't realize how this issue threatens national security as well( naxalite movement).
They don't realize how caste system among upper caste also is detrimental to the unity of nation.
Is Caste based politics not hindrance and threat to unity of nation.
Stark inequality is a recognized threat to democracy and prosperity in any society. Don't we need to address that?
They are not taught in school why India remain segregated compared to societies around globe due to caste system. There are similar things like caste in other countries but nothing as vicious as Caste system.
      Example:
In my school ( one of the best in Gujarat at the time) mostly attended by upper caste ( jains, Patel, Bania, Brahmin) they would announce list of castes ( lower caste) and if you belong to any of them you go to office in the middle of lecture. Then they ask if your parents earn enough or you need to apply for certain assistance , if not you need to submit a letter in writing. Class used to burst into laughing when they announce these castes because most of the these caste names are used as curse words in Local language.
This is their experience with other lower caste. Teachers also used to laugh but missed opportunity to teach students that just how proudly they say their caste some are cursed to be in caste which is curse word for no fault of theirs ( karma theory comes in to play here) and that is wrong. No need to say No religious diversity as well.
      ********
      Solution:
      *********
What we can really use is diversity Training program like in US , starting from primary school to college and work place.
From segregated schools and neighborhoods in 1960s and only white legal immigrants if you see in today almost white town ( 97%) where I live currently all white crowds shouting against racism it's due to this education and training. US has issues of descrimination but it's LEAST racist place in the world even compared to Europe which is more liberal on paper.
In this we can include all kinds of descrimination ( handicap, gender, race (north east people, ) , regional biases, sexual orientation and caste descrimination.
People should learn what kind of behavior is not appropriate, not legal, how to identify it, what are your legal rights, how can you help prevent it.
Media can help spread awareness too.
Remember : " Mile sur Mera tumhara" or " Chalo padhaye kuch Kar dikhaye".
School kids can have projects like making pen friends ( Facebook) from other religions, other caste, from different backgrounds.
Summer project can be to educate some one illiterate. You can be creative and sky is the limit.
Trips to local village where people still practicing these descrimination. This will create awareness and pressure to get rid of caste system based and other descrimination.
Dr Ambedkar said unless people share bread, birth, death , joy and sorrows together they will not feel cohesion in their hearts.
People need to know women ( Common women)did not have right to property and inheritance until constitution gave them that right. In absence of that knowledge they just hate Dr Ambedkar as someone who has imposed reservation for dalits and hate him along with dalits. In really Dr Ambedkar had to resign fighting for these rights for women ( Hindu code bill) and not a single leader of the time supported him and hindy leaders vehemently opposed it.( We were not that liberal as we are told, and we still aren't compared to West)
These things need to be discussed and debated. But how many social science students study such things?
In villages people still don't mingle in each others birth, death and marriage ceremony, seperate cemetery, seperate well. A lot need to be done.
This is a proven thing which has worked in US and West, can work in India as well.
Only change in attitude will bring equality.
We need to ask for this in every State and national level this should be implemented. There are other things that can be donebut that for other time.
Please start spreading word (email to people in power,in person what ever way) we have lost 73 years can't wait anymore.
But unfortunately, contrary to what is required, there is a big movement going on in which they deny there is or ever was Caste descrimination in India.
There is a big effort to blame whole thing on British ( Check Rajiv Malhotra, subramaniam swami etc on RUclips).
If we don't accept problem how and when are we going to solve it.

Really good.....I agree on that caste denial movement on large scale ....i have seen them ...and disagree with them.....they even very conveniently in a manipulative way use Dr.Ambedkar's words and thoughts to explain their made up theories ....
Dr. Ambedkar was against any kind of anti social thoughts, practices irrespective of religion, gender and race....but they use his words to point out only those wrongs which focus attention to only two particular religions...and they forget all wrongdoings in their own religion and land.....

caste did not originate in hinduism. caste is modern form of tribes which had been existing for thousands of years, from the time of ancient humans. most of the tribes declined to engage with other tribes and maintained their identity by strictly following endogamy. every tribe from early human period, used to practice endogamy and were involved in struggle against other tribes. such conflicts kept going in entire ancient india. it is difficult for us to see it now because we feel that from ancient times all people used to just live together and brahmanas created divisions. no. different tribes came together and formed a society which worked for each other. division was already there. caste lines persist because people don't want to forget their ancestory, their roots, their forefathers. once the caste line is diminished, there will be no pure blood line and hence the matter of pride in deeds of their forefathers will be gone. so people take caste seriously, even now. it's complete waste of time to try to eliminate caste. castes have always been there, and it will remain there. you can fight against discriminatory practices on basis of caste. you can't fight against caste system. because it gives an identity to all people whether it's lower caste or it's upper caste. i believe in caste system. and i am proud casteist. :)

    Caste isn’t Hinduism
The Varna system, referred to in Hindu scripture but mostly in the post-Vedic period, is mostly theoretical today. In the real world that Jaati communities inhabit, discrimination is about issues that have little to do with religion-access to wells, economic power, sexual exploitation, and tribalistic solidarity-which is why discrimination exists even in non-Hindu India. Luckily, as communities become empowered, develop economically, and as individuals migrate away from those who historically oppressed them (or from those they oppressed), these same factors may become far less important. Indeed, there are plenty of Hindus-especially in the diaspora and among Hindus of non-Indian origin-who profess no caste and find caste irrelevant. (The Hindu American Foundation examined caste in 2010 and found that, scripturally and practically, nothing in Hinduism requires caste, and caste-based discrimination is contrary to Hindu principles.) Hinduism is Vedanta; Hinduism is Yoga; Hinduism is Ahimsa and the Bhagvad Gita and Bhakti and pluralism. But caste? Indians may practice it, but Hinduism, it is not.

The question was specifically whether vedic support exists for casteism? We understand caste based segregation, oppression, and exploitation exists(in all denial of humanity to a large section of society based on caste-system). However, Abhinandan was specifically interested in knowing how do you deal with caste-deniers of specific kind, those who deny shastric injunction for casteism. Completely off the mark.

No I didn't watched the complete video, because I am not interested. I have nothing to do with caste system. I do not belong to the casteist religion or community. I believe in no religion. I have other issues to think of. I support the people who are doing something against it. But I don't think I have anything to do with it.

Abhinandan Sekhri's choice of word for media persons with unfamiliar surnames as having ' ambiguous ' surnames , the least one can say that it is not only inappropriate but also shows his either unpreparedness or sub-concious prejudice . In India , people use their surnames as adhesive and so long it continues , casteism shall persist , though ' Bodi '/hair tail on head has largely disappeared ; but 'Sharma ' surname has spread from Jammu to Assam and Madhya Pradesh . For the last six years , people in North India and Maharashtra have started writing their caste on vehicles as ,"Brahmin /Pandit " , "Thakur/Rajput " , "Jat/Gujjar" , "Maratha" etc. , which shows further spread of casteism and upper caste mobilisation for electroal and communal purpose . Writing such caste names /Press/Advocate /Army/MLA/MP etc words on vehicles is a violation under section 111(2)(e) of the Motor Vehicle Act , 1988 .
" Menance of Hinduism " book written by Teerthakaran explains how beef eating ' Purohit Class ' separated themselves from other people and communities to occupy high pedestal status in society after stopping its consumption . Just have a peep at newspaper matrimonial advertisements , even highly educated and highly placed people of India /Indian origin look for their own social origin matches for matrimony purpose even in America ! " I am a Patel in Gujrat , Gujrati outside Gujrat and Indian outside India " , were the opening words of our faculty , who came to teach us in the year 1983 " Communalism in India " at Internal Security Acadmey , Central Reserve Police Force , Mount Abu , Rajasthan. Even Yengde too has promoted racism by referring to American people as ' whites ' and blacks though former and Europeans are largely PINKY in complexion and need to be called PINKIES /PINKY. Therefore , he too needs to consider spreading right word PINKY/PINKIES for them . We become one united country and get united as Indians in cricket match and war with Pakistan ! Yengde has hit the nail on the head in a sledge hammer way , may consider naming revised edition as ," Only Caste Matters ". He may consider taking some inputs from "Buffalo Nationalism " book of Prof. Kancha Illiah .🙏
