    Shame on him for duping so many fans.

    I bought one of the first helmets based on what we were being told about "original" molds and some early pictures. Once these started showing up it was plainly obvious in our opinion "the die hard stormtrooper fanatics on the RPF" that we were being lied to. In our opinions the back of the helmet swoop wasn't even close to accurate and the ears had been resculpted and we're noticeably longer to compensate. Also none of the tell tale bumps and flaws in the original pulls were present.

    This is a really valuable video. I too nearly bought from this website. What stopped me was how simply wrong the armour looks on the model/mannequin, before i even gained any knowledge of Stormtroopers. The greaves look too short, and the plates look like they’ve been thrown on, for example. Then i found FISD...and learned...

      @@stuartdavies10 my grandpa created the original mould for the stormtrooper helmet, he was a scenic sculptor at the time working at shepperton studios. His mould was not the first or last but it was the first that resembles current day stormtrooper helmets (the mouth piece was sculpted after the ash tray from one of his morris cars). At the time Andrew was making kayaks with his vac former and my grandpa, approached him with the idea of vac forming helmets. My grandpa never liked the idea of the starwars films and didn’t watch a single one of them, never pursuing the publicity like Andrew did. He has pictures of him and gorge, and as a bonus I got to work with Andrew for some work experience, the helmets and armour prices are rough but Andrew gets around that by saying they are movie accurate 😂, andrews a nice guy but maybe a bit misleading on his website

    Ainsworth likes to claim a lot, and the fact that he gets away with it is beyond me. Saying he has the facts and evidence to prove something that has been proven to be the truth. It’s like he lives in his own world, believing that he created from hand the molds for the armor and helmet when there’s evidence of who made and designed it, and who was the original test fitter. I feel bad for anyone who could be that delusional and anyone who believes in his crazed fantasy. Thanks Richie for the videos, I’ll enjoy my RS set with pride.

    Who the hell cares? It's a MOVIE... Nothing is real. All of these suits were hand made and all of them were weird and had individual strange and unique pieces. Some of the pieces were reported as being flexible as well and not made from the original material from the rest of the suit. You can see in scenes where the troopers were shot from the rear that some of the calf pieces were taped together with white gaffer's tape and some were flexible with others split open in the rear as the actor walked. There are also the original suits that were made and used as the sand trooper, the general trooper suit, and the hero suits that were constructed slightly differently. There is no ONE accurate suite. It's about having fun. This kind of arrogance is what led me to resign my 501 membership. Sod off.

    • @charlesedison1310
      @charlesedison1310 3 года назад +6

      Because it’s intentionally misleading. If SDS marketed their kit as “unoriginal copy of a copy” I’m sure no one would care, but it also wouldn’t sell. SDS are using false advertising to dupe people into believing that they are buying something with direct screen lineage to the original film. Buying armour online is an absolute minefield and extremely daunting for newcomers, Richie is 100% doing the right thing here by bringing it to people’s attention.

    • @stuartdavies10
      @stuartdavies10 Год назад

      The point of this argument isn't really about one suit compared to another,most of the general public would just see a "stormtrooper" and would be totally oblivious to the movie accuracy or lack thereof and rightly so,if movie accuracy isn't a major factor then don't join the 501st in the first place,it's not like they hide what they're about. This argument is about an individual falsely claiming he actually designed the pieces,promoting the fact that he did design them and then making a living by selling something that was designed by someone else.
      Who the hell cares?....well Brian Muir cares and the family of the late Liz Moore care and those with a moral and ethical code do.

    Maybe you should visit andrews workshop which he happily lets you . Your see alot of evidence to prove you wrong . I dont own a suit from anyone but I think being part of 501st your following lucas standards of a suit . So why would they win an out of court settlement from lucas film if wasnt the original suit . Andrew will tell you himself certain parts have been changed over the years as over the years better ways to keep armour from falling off as your know this was a problem in the making of the first movie . So as a 501st member your not going to support his suits .

    • @RichieStormtrooper
      @RichieStormtrooper  4 года назад +8

      You are terribly misinformed, sorry.
      In accordance with the court judgement replica prop makers are allowed to sell their suits IN THE UK because the design was deemed an industrial design and thus not/no longer covered by the respective copyright for sculptures.
      In the USA Lucasfilm still holds copyright.
      But that's not really my point. Ainsworth sells something and claims (or at least strongly implies) that it is made from the original moulds. Spend two minutes comparing (or just bother to watch this video!) and it's clear to anyone that this is nonsense.

      Sadly, Richard, you appear to have been duped by the SDS machine. I HAVE visited AA’s studio back around 2005 and 2007, before I realised what was actually going on. That doesn’t make his kits accurate. The proof is in the finished product - AA’s armour and helmets do not look like the original suits. Just out the two side by side. I’m afraid it’s as simple as that.
