Hey, Julien! You should make smashed potatoes (batatas a murro). It's a portuguese dish where you literally punch the potatoes before baking them. Love the video!
Description "bathe urself, but also bathe ur potatoes" is something I never thought I would see in a million years, Julien's mentality is on a whole new level
Im from Chile and I'm just realizing that scalloped potatoes are what I used to called "potato lasagna" when I was a kid lmao My mom still makes it to this day and puts meat or vegetables in between the layers and its DELICIOUS
So crazy to see how Julian’s style has changed over the years. First it was the man bun and the electric skateboard to painted nails, jewelry, tattoos, beard, mullet, and embracing J&J’s Kitchen to the MAX!
scalloped potatoes is one of the best forms of potatoes. for easter we always make ham and scalloped potatoes, or au gratin potatoes, with diced up any leftover ham is our go to dinner the next day
Soooooo glad you had a great recipe to follow! My mom made "basic" scallop potatoes. She basically sliced potatoes, dumped them in a casserole dish, covered them with milk, seasoned with S & P, then baked them. If she felt really creative, she'd add a few slices of bacon on top. Not what you want as your first experience of scallop potatoes.
Every time I see Julien cooking after Jenna started taking time for herself, I can imagine her gingerly coming to her with the food as she's playing EOS or something and it sparks joy

Been eating this in Australia for decades, although we just call it Potato Bake where I'm from. Mum and all the aunts used to compete with their potato bakes each Christmas. IMO, you don't need all the cashews and such, my personal favorite is: * Mix tonne black pepper, several large garlic cloves and plant milk, blend smooth * Slice potatoes into dish, don't even bother pouring liquid until the end * Lots of shredded cheese on top Get a real crispy top, and the interior should be more homogeneously potato rather than "bechamel" style - the starch from the potatos will naturally thicken it, no need for cashews.
