    Thank you for sharing. I am so happy that Siem Ream is such a chill spot. I come from a small town in Canada so it is nice to know that there are chill places in SE Asia. I can't wait to visit.

    Cambodia has come a long way since the prolonged civil war was officially ended upruptly in 1998. I left the country back in 1979 after I had to live through the genocide under Pol Pot killing madness. Most of my family members did not survive as we were forced to move out of the Phnom Penh City in 1975 to work in the rice fields. I've returned to visit my sole surviving sister every year for the last ten years since my retirement from the US to heal the past. Enjoy your trip and take care from a genocide survivor!

      That is devastating, very glad you have an opportunity to go back and heal from it my friend. Thank you for sharing this with us 🙏

    I'm a retired old man in the US and they drive on the correct side (🤗) - like we do - and they also use our dollar. -- Been searching for more than a year for my ideal retirement destination & that really does appear to be it !!! -- Super peaceful comfortable friendly English speaking locals cheap cost of living (70% less than the US) great food (cheap on the street) and just a beautiful city. Seems to have everything needed for a comfortable retirement ? 🤔Amazing retirement visa too over 55 - no requirements & only $180/year ! > Yea - pretty unbelievable - but likely why some 250,000 US expats moved to Cambodia this past decade. --?-- Siem Reap is my pick. They also have 1 hour flights to Bangkok - for a fun visit or quality medical services ?!? (Cheap enough with an advanced notice.) Some 20,000 expats from many countries live there now - in a city of 250,000 total population. - - - May end up there late this year - if God willing & all goes well ? 👍❤🙏❤🤞

      I would say that from what we’ve seen, Siem reap is an excellent place to retire. Especially being from the US like yourself.
      We’re going to head back there for a lot longer in the future and use it as a base to check out the rest of Cambodia.
      We’ll be there hopefully nearer the end of the year too, maybe we can grab a beer with you in the future 😊

      @@franclyspeaking I'm so excited - like reborn (?) - kind of amazing I feel this way - just very excited - like a little kid @ xmas !?!?! = Maybe it's - "in part" - because my income will triple - or increase 3 times in purchase power ? -- Hard to believe. -- Yet the experience of the place the culture the people and scenery with the weather - ''all combine'' - to just excite me tremendously !!! (no more winters) 🤗 I'd be quite glad to buy you two a few beers to celebrate with me my arrival !!! All the best - 🙏 "live long and prosper" 👍❤🍺

    Coffee culture in Cambodia is insane. You basically can find coffee stall or coffee shop every 200 meters in downtown or suburb from low - premium coffee shops. Love it.

    Great vlog, in my eyes it is normal not to pay visiting a temple. In Europe you can vist every famous church for free. How are the cost in comparrison with Thailand? And I like the traffic, driving on the right. In the whole off Europe we do that,only England on the left. Have a good time!

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you!
      It’s interesting because some temples in Thailand cost money but others are free, some are just a donation to enter. Depends on the temple.
      Yes the traffic was a bit of a challenge for us but we got used to it quickly 😊
      Thank you, we had a lovely time! 🇰🇭🇰🇭
      We highly recommend Siem Reap.

      They do indeed, quite a shock crossing a land border and everyone on the different side of the road. But when walking in Asia, we're used to looking both ways (multiple times) so not too much of an adjustment haha

      We were using the GoPro hero 11 black in this video, but we have since changed to the DJI Action 4. Our GoPro died after less than 12 months of use, we wouldn’t recommend getting a GoPro. The DJI has been infinitely better ❤️🙌🏽
