Several months after the event in Tomb Raider 2, Lara Croft comes across some clues referring to a small island in the Bering Sea: a faded photograph showing an Inuit whale hunter holding what looks like an ancient Golden Mask, an old newspaper from 1945 referring to a conflict over an Alaskan gold discovery, and a secret kind of fortified military mine base. Lara is primarily interested in finding the Mask, as it is rumoured to be the famed Golden Mask of Tornarsuk - a greater spirit said to bestow powers of re-animation on the mask wearer. What awaits her on Melinkov Island?

Regarding to "Nightmare in Vegas", its implied that this level was simply a dream of Lara, as result of be too focused in her adventures after got all the secret treasures, causing her a weird nightmare.
3 bosses in the single level. Yup, definitely cruel enough for her nightmare 🤣

@@stevenPCGaming Indeed. Even the characters expressing with their animation faces better. As a kid I was confused at what they are expressing. I’m also glad they put subtitles too because back then they never had subtitles

It's so nice to see someone playing the remaster using tank controls and just nailing every stunt because of it. Watching people struggle through old-school TR without sideways jumps, backflips, and strafe back is just *painful*. I'm over the moon with how great the remasters look, but I feel bad for the first-timers who basically can't play these games because the controls are so inaccessible.
I physically cannot play this with tank, modern controls saved my sanity lol
Modern controls are just superior, for speedrunning it's a big change and win 👍 so much faster jumps and turns plus easy banana skips

@@violetleiva6319 banana jumps* where you can skip big portions of the levels by jumping in the line of a banana around corners. Like in Temple of Xian where you jump from the golden Dragon Secret to the bridge with the button, skipping a huge chunk

It's a big misunderstanding, but the Inuit aren't actually from Alaska. They're just in northeast Canada. Some of the north and western coastal cultures in modern Alaska, like the Aleut (why the islands are called that) are distantly related to them though through language and migration connections over thousands of years ago. My dad is Aleutian so I'm always having to clarify this when people say or think that everyone from the far north is automatically Inuit. Even people from Canada make this mistake about north pacific cultures.

Another great video Steven, thank you! The liquid gold rooms finally don't destroy my eyeballs from too much bright yellow 😖 This game looks fantastic in HD. I think that some old game spooky factor may be lost due to better graphics but that's how it is usually.

Okay, I can't decide which Tomb Raider Gold game I like the best! I mean, is it Unfinished Business, this one: the golden mask, the lost artifact, or all of the above? I think this one, the Golden Mask takes the cake for me even though I do like the other ones too!

1:22:55 - how do you do that jump??? I've tried over 40 times and every time Lara either bumps into that tree right in front of her or veers WILDLY off to the right. Like, I've never even came anywhere close to getting near that bridge. I'm trying to get all 12 secrets and unlock Nightmare in Vegas. SO frustrating I'm stuck on 11 of 12 lol.
I believe that was not the intentional way to get that secret 😅

Any idea if you use the skip-level cheat after getting all three secrets in that level, does it still keep it as counting the secrets you got to unlock the 5th level? Already played this without remembered to get every secret so kinda wanna race through this time just to get all the secrets to play Nightmare in Vegas.

Yes they are. You can have classic controls which is like ps1 and modern controls which is more like tomb raider underworld.

Hi. Thank you for incredible walkthrough. I followed almost every step as you did in Nightmare in Vegas, but maybe i missed something: can't reach its 2nd secret (bars). Circuit taken, both T-rexes with that one guy dead, but cage with 2nd secret is still closed. Any advice? Everyone has an issue with bird boss appereance for final fight, but no one with issue with closed cage with 2nd seret :/
that's real odd enough cuz I played it in both remastered and original. I didn't have the bug like this in both versions. Not quite sure what caused it... 🥲
The ending is so dry. No cutscene, nothing.

Yeah there’s some music issues mostly in the golden mask expansion. Like the music will be play repeatedly if you step on the spot that triggers them , they should be only playing once and stop.

Does anyone have a bug where the ghost warriors begin hostile ? I didn't shoot any, and a soon as the ice breaks and the first one falls, they turn hostile...

Yes !! They jumped me when I got down there 😅. Died few times from lack of saving and every time they attack
Happening to me as well, they weren't hostile at first though because I restarted the level to look for all items/secrets now they're hostile for no reason even if I start from a fresh start
I have run into that bug as well. I have seen others play the remastered version of Golden Mask without the ghost warriors becoming hostile for no reason. I started a new game, got to the area with them and they still attack me unprovoked. The one on the platform slightly above where you get that large medipack does not attack me unless I get on the platform he is on.
I have some kind of glitch with secret No. 15... The gate is closed, it is impossible to get the secret (Steam version)
The last secret? Where is the gate you meant? 😮
@@stevenPCGaming The gate in front of the secret and the gate on the top floor. I noticed that they open when you press a button in the piano room and close when you leave that room. @@DiamiR92 There's nothing with your progress. But what I noticed is you took the elevator up and immediately encounter the giant eagleman. Have you tried running down the hallway to enter the cage? Just don't kill it first. Run down and get the secret instead 😉
@@stevenPCGaming Yes, of course, I tried to immediately run along the corridor to the secret, but the problem is that the cage in that place is closed and I can’t get to the secret. I tried to replay this moment in different ways, but it was still closed to me. I watched you pass this level and I will try to do the same. The problem is most likely that I entered that piano room too early.
Same here, did you by pass it? I've reloaded pervasive saved games there was one where the monster was on the roof but the gate still locked
Where is the last pick up in the first stage?
0:35 on my right side. It's placed on the ground. Not easy to spot that harpoons 😭

Glad my guide has been useful ☺️. The thing they didn't add it back must be because they only work on the existing models and textures. Maybe wait for the mod to bring back the deleted outfit 😀

You don't say 🤣. These are the least favorite enemies in TR2. You can't even use grenades to blast them cuz it also destroys the snowmobile as well lol 😂

No, my aim is merely for all secrets. The one pickup I missed was the harpoons in the beginning area. Somewhere in the water 👀

I wonder which remastered trilogy is worse. The GTA Definitive edition trilogy, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or Tomb Raider. But to some opinions Tomb Raider isn't all that worse.
Tomb Raider Remastered isn't that bad. It provides lots of visual changes and vast improvement on cutscenes where characters start to talk 😂
it looks like they only worked hard to revamp the levels that appeared on the trailers, like the nice bushes on the Great Wall, the other levels are bland and have little to no objects, like the flat lamps on the walls on the Deck
Crash Bandicoot trilogy is one of the best remasters of all time!
