The other day I was watching a video by another which showed this gatesman in the tunnel. I recognize this person because she has a nervous twitch of her nose and mouth. During her standing there, a bunch of women kept coming up to pose (some quite sexily) next to her, most actually touching her. She moved very slightly away each time. The officer stayed with her the whole time and I wished he'd say something to these rude tourists but, of course, he didn't. She stood her ground perfectly. So proud of her. Almost each of the women looked at her more than once. Did they know the gatesman was a female or did they hope they were making an impression on a male guard? Today, she is in the tunnel again with the officer very close by. I bless that officer as he walked in front of her as if to block anyone from repeating what they did last time she was in the tunnel. Not, of course, that she needed protection but it was a nice thing to see.
Thanks for that observation. I also get wary when a gatesman is standing in the tunnel and have many ppl around them. Much relief when an officer comes into view. As you noted this one was good with the officer being near her.

Good afternoon, John. One great thing about Social media is I can contact people all around the world.. I speak Chinese quite well and like to see the many different nationalities at Whitehall. Everything looks the same as decades ago. London is truly majestic. and we are so lucky to have such fabulous men and women to protect our heritage. Take care now. Bye bye
Pala is a gelding, for those who want to know. Just look for that tangling bit between the hind legs folks. LOL John, your humor always amazes me. Thanks for the pleasant morning.
Afternoon I must say I have watched a lot of you videos which are very exciting and your knowledge. Of the horses and London. Are superb I hope that it won’t be long before you are back with the horses this my first thing I look at in the morning as I am still bed ridden at the moment and all day is something for me to enjoy thank you Linda sparks xx
Lovely to see the lists coming along John and to meet the beautiful, and curious Yvonne and the handsome Hastings. Hate to tell you, but it’s impossible to tell gender in horses from appearance. Some mares do indeed have delicate, “feminine” looks…..but then so do some geldings, and some mares are HUGE. With regard to horses hooves, the outer layers are horn which is dead…..a horses hoof is like a human fingernail. Under the horn is where the growth comes from just like the nail bed in humans. THAT part is VERY sensitive, unlike the dead material that makes up the outside hoof. A shoe is nailed to the dead horn of the hoof wall. If you’ve watched a farrier hot shoeing you’ll see them putting the hot metal against the hoof…..it looks very dramatic, but it’s the very best way get the shoe snug against the hoof. The metal is only touching the dead parts of the hoof, and it burns the surface, which shows up the high spots that need to be rasped down. The only sensitive part on the base of the hoof is the “frog” which is a piece of tough spongy tissue that provides grip(yes the sole IS pressure sensitive but it has a layer of horn) You might have heard of “laminitis”? This is an inflammatory condition of the “laminae” which are blood rich layered structures in the hoof that get inflamed and swollen. It’s a serious condition which causes severe pain, can damage the hooves or result in euthanasia, and to non horse peoples disbelief, ca be caused by gorging on food. Whoops😢 sorry I’ve done it again. I apologise for lecturing on your video John😞
_@LondonCityWalks_ Hi John, as usual an excellent video ! It's great to find out the names of the horses. _INFINITY_ is really a beautiful name for such a beautiful horse. I thought those 'velvet eyes' were beautiful, as did the other horse. You should zoom in more often on the 'shimmering' eyes of many 'beauties'. I've always loved horses, but listening to you and following you, I _LOVE_ them more and more and Find them more and more _BEAUTIFUL._ 💕🦋 How wonderful that the "algorithms" of your Channel found me "that day ! LOL See you n take care ! L💞ve 🐴 n Guards.
I am still looking for the magnificent black you thought he stood 19 hands and had one white dot over his left eye and he was outstanding with people just a really great horse, a huge and gentle animal.
@catward1039-the tiny white spot on an otherwise completely black horse is Q10, my favorite. He seems to love children and has fun dangling his tongue straight down. -
@@vgil1278 all the videographers will have LifeGuard as well as Blues and Royals horses featured. Just depends who is on duty. Atm it's LifeGuards. I know Buska has released some videos today featuring the LifeGuards.
Yeah. I'm not sure what the situation with him is atm. He wasn't at HorseGuards last Blues duty but as I say, he's strictly speaking, a LifeGuard mount. Any and all the videographers will have LifeGuards featured if they're on duty as they are at present. If the Blues and Royals are on they'll likely have them featured.
Good evening, John. You really cracked me up, today. Those peace signs drive me bonkers. So disrespectful. Beautiful light in the tunnel. The walls looked magnificent. Thank you for going inside, so we could admire all the detail. Will need to stay up to the early morning hours, to watch the Live TicToc. Cheers, from Vancouver Island. D
Horses hooves are like finger nails. They need to be kept trimmed, a long grown out hoof can cause injury’s and deformities. It doesn’t hurt the horse and the shoes protect the feet from chipping and splitting and are a sort of shock absorber. The nails go in to the wall of the hoof and don’t hurt.
Another enjoyable video, they are quite addictive. Have you ever considered having a business card to hand out to tourists enquiring about yor filming ?
In all honesty, I prefer that this Channel evolves as a community of Horse Guards/King's Guards enthusiasts. I've noticed the comments are wonderful and hugely supportive and that is far more important to me than a massive Subscriber count. Organic growth. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Perhaps using the words "business cards" were incorrect, what I was trying to put across was a number of tourists in your last video were asking where they could view it which required some explaining with the language barriers. I thought it would be beneficial to them if you had a card with details on to give to them.@@LondonCityWalks
@@jimlatham-r2z There was discussion about 'London City Walks' merchandise last summer; caps specifically. But then the Channel kind of took off and the idea never came to fruition. Perhaps it's something I will consider at 100K if the viewership demands it. More specifically relating to your point, I've noticed that many Channels with a huge Subscriber count have very low engagement on their videos. Fewer 'upticks' and just a handful of comments. To me, that is evidence of the 'slow, organic growth' paying off as this Channel has super high engagement and I try to encourage that by being as informative and engaging as possible - and of course by narrating as my own 'presenter'. That's why I wonder if tourists that I randomly encounter outside would necessarily contribute to the Channel, or simply take a look and never be seen again. It's a tough decision, but I'm not inherently opposed to your idea.
Tillah probably runs approximately 725 kg or 1,595 pounds for the Americans watching. He's in top condition. So that's all muscle. And muscle weighs more than fat does. I don't see any fat deposits behind his shoulders, by his withers, the highest part behind his neck. Your friend the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦 PS I evaluate horses for my local RSPCA on a regular basis, so I'm a really good judge of weight and health of a horse.
Really enjoyed this video today, John. I still want to be optimistic about "most" tourist, thinking they are in tourist mode and sometimes not thinkig at all, but do agree on the ones that are blatantly disrespectful. I understand why they don't want the hoof brand exposed for security reasons. The weight on these horses if their 17 hands or more 1,500 pounds or more, its just a guess😊. I raised, trained and showed Quarter Horses, loved, loved it. I owned a mare that was 1,200 pounds, but these are a different breed. It is difficult to guess the sex looking straight on for a gelding has lost his testosterone and lost muscle mass. It is so nice you enjoy the tourist and where their from. A big 👍for you.
Has a guard ever been thrown from their horse in this public setting? I’ve only started watching these videos for about one month. I love them. I love horses, rode when I was younger. Owned one for a while. I find peoples reactions unbelievable. I worry for some especially children!! Ty for your work. Greetings from Texas USA 🇺🇸
I don't recall a Guard being thrown in the boxes, but there is footage of a Guard being thrown in the yard and also out on Horse Guards Parade. Fortunately, no-one has been seriously hurt in the boxes whilst on King's Guard duty.
I felt so sorry for that young trooper who came off on the parade ground. His horse jinked sideways, and he wasn’t quite ready for it and got left behind. Unfortunately with all the weight they carry in full kit, going sideways made his saddle slip, and from there, a meeting with the deck was inevitable. Luckily these horses trust their riders and so happily the horse didn’t panic, even with the saddle under his belly, just ran around a bit then let his rider catch him, which he did efficiently and calmly even tho he was probably deeply embarrassed and even more deeply bruised, and led him off to the stables. Bad enough coming off in front of EVERYone, but they have NO show of remounting from the ground in all their gear, so it was the “walk of shame” back to the stables for the poor lad.
This is my fave video so far. You were in a fab mood and the horses were fun, especially the nice nibbler. Was it Yvonne with a taste for handbags and coats? Well done John. Next, we'd love to have a glimpse of you so we can spot you on one of Buska's videos. You have given away our source to now identify you. No hoof numbers required.
John, since your viewership is expanding so much, you might think of hiring people. There is a woman who started all by herself, but in six months-time frame, her viewership got to 200 million, just her on the camera discussing the latest news. When she gets so much money out of the advertisers, she was able to hire a staff and a studio with the latest equipment. She is now hired by Daily Wire, and her name is Brett Cooper. She is very talented for a 25-year-old.
That's extraordinary! My fear is of diluting the quality of the content, but let's see how things go. Tomorrow will be an interesting day with the first LIVE in two months. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I hope you succeed. We want you to because being housebound and others like me, it gives us the opportunity to visit the London King's guards and by you speaking to the surrounding, you give us the vicarious experience of being there with the help of your high-resolution camera and clear, crisp, and very polite voice. It is very addictive, actually watching your videos. Hiring staff would only help you become more effective, as, I am sure you would only hire like-minded, intelligent, and highly talented people. Your researchers would have more information and fact checkers would keep what you share the most accurate (my humble opinion).@@LondonCityWalks
Hi John, great videos and brilliant commentary. For the benefit of your subscribers (who may not know), there are a few videos of the Guards & their horses on holiday at the beach -" Seagrass & Saddles - The Household Cavalry horses riding on the beach at Holkham". Enjoy.
I can second watching those videos you mention. Just horses and riders enjoying each other’s company…..they do the heart good(even if your heart is a withered old lump of coal like mine 😉🤣)
Thank you for your video's, they have kept me sane, over the last few months. I will only watch you and buster, and the other gentleman, cannot remember his name. But , sadly I was so annoyed just, that lovely American lady in your video, with the check coat on, who you told could actually touch the horse, has been labelled Disrespectful on another video, I will not name the you tube chanel, I felt so sad for her. If she sees it she would be mortified. So thank you for been so honest in your video, that is what I like. Sorry it is long, but was outraged.
There are some that film here, that conflate respect with untouchable. They cannot seem to get it thru their heads that it’s not only possible to pat the horses in a totally respectful manner, but that it’s also not forbidden to touch the horses. You ofc need to not be utterly tone deaf, and understand that if the horse doesn’t want touches, and if the guard says no touching, that you respect that, but as long as you don’t grope the guard(as we all know, it happens😯)or grab at the tack you’re ok.
Excellent advice! I noticed that during an inspection adjustment of the chain, it wasn't attached to the breast plate before or after the inspection. Part of the 'uniform', but not necessary in this working position? None of them seem attached.
@@nancynorcross409 In my opinion the tie downs should be attached to the breastplate. It would keep the horse from pulling his bit and stretching his neck. I have raised Registered Quarter horses for many years and I had one spotted boy who pulled at the bit like that. They sell bits with a smaller rise in them which would also help. The tie down should go through the attached breastplate and around the first cinch strap under the saddle.
I love your videos John makes my day, I love the horses and Ormonde is my favourite but not seeing him so often now😢 Do you think it is because he bites? 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm sure Ormonde will return shortly. There are many nippy horses in each Regiment, so I don't think that alone would necessarily disqualify a horse from Guard duty in the boxes.
To funny the horse is moving it's lip, you're talking, simotaniously. The reason you have and are growing is you style in filming and educating us. Should any of us be able to come visit we will know how to behave, we'll also look for the red headed pale man who has shared so much with us, thank you

John that guard is watching you and giving you the evil eye. He’s extremely handsome but not very happy.have never seen anyone with such downturned lips. Have you upset him?❤❤❤
With a lot of wishing and hoping, maybe the live tiktok tomorrow will be hosted by guard Ellis, can't think of a guard more suitable or more admired !!
You should write traits down on your list like nipper, doesn't like crowds, chilled, loves kids, it will help you identify them when markings are the same and you carn't see hoof number
Good morning, John. Having my cereal at 4:30 a.m. and about to make a large pot of double bergamot Earl Grey as this Live occasion calls for it. Looking forward to hearing you restrain yourself from blue humour.😆 Seriously, hope it all goes well. Cheers, D.
Matching hoof numbers and horses are hard if troopers struggle and they work with them often no wonder you can mess it up hoof numbers can get filled with hoof oil and even the process of branding can make it hard im so glad your not giving out numbers horse theft is massive even for the military it also stops people targeting the troopers etc especially if the horse has certain traits you carnt trust people these days unfortunately I just love to watch you try to guess the names
Hoof and nail care is important with all animals as the nail grows all the time horses where shoes for a number of reasons but its all to stop the bones becoming harmed or foundering done correctly it doesn't hurt the horse at all

It’s a serious condition which causes severe pain, can damage the hooves or result in euthanasia, and to non horse peoples disbelief, ca be caused by gorging on food.
Whoops😢 sorry I’ve done it again. I apologise for lecturing on your video John😞
She's looking to see if anyone's got treats.

Hi John, as usual an excellent video !
It's great to find out the names of the horses.
_INFINITY_ is really a beautiful name for such a beautiful horse.
I thought those 'velvet eyes' were beautiful, as did the other horse.
You should zoom in more often on the 'shimmering' eyes of many 'beauties'. I've always loved horses, but listening to you and following you, I _LOVE_ them more and more and Find them more and more _BEAUTIFUL._ 💕🦋
How wonderful that the "algorithms" of your Channel found me "that day ! LOL
See you n take care !
L💞ve 🐴 n Guards.
Infinity also has a small star. Sometimes when leg markings look alike, look for facial markings too ❤️
I am still looking for the magnificent black you thought he stood 19 hands and had one white dot over his left eye and he was outstanding with people just a really great horse, a huge and gentle animal.
That sounds like Q10 who is really a LifeGuards horse. Just "seconded" to the Blues.
@catward1039-the tiny white spot on an otherwise completely black horse is Q10, my favorite. He seems to love children and has fun dangling his tongue straight down.

@@catzkeet4860 -Does that mean lent to? Where can we go to see Life Guard horses on line?
Hastings very cheeky. Welcome to the nippers club Hastings.❤️🐴👍👍👏👏
Great video as always ❤ Thank you 😊
Horses hooves are like finger nails. They need to be kept trimmed, a long grown out hoof can cause injury’s and deformities. It doesn’t hurt the horse and the shoes protect the feet from chipping and splitting and are a sort of shock absorber. The nails go in to the wall of the hoof and don’t hurt.
Aww i am sad i do not have Tik Tok ...i would definitely watched the troopers video otherwise...can it also be displayed on RUclips? 😢 ❤
Will try to film for RUclips too. 🙏🏻
Tic Tok has been proven to gather information from viewers. They are trying to have it outlawed in the USA.
Yes I follow him xxxx jeez well done Buska congrats xxxxxx
Hello from Yuba City, CA. Ha ha ha, that is too cute, the horse telling us what is right and wrong, cute.
I watched you almost every day. Iam from Ephrata pa. United States of America
Such wonderful view!
Tillah probably runs approximately 725 kg or 1,595
pounds for the Americans watching.
I love that you tell us what's going on the pictures and there names
Really enjoyed this video today, John.
I still want to be optimistic about "most" tourist, thinking they are in tourist mode and sometimes not thinkig at all, but do agree on the ones that are blatantly disrespectful.
I understand why they don't want the hoof brand exposed for security reasons.
The weight on these horses if their 17 hands or more 1,500 pounds or more, its just a guess😊.
I raised, trained and showed
Quarter Horses, loved, loved it.
Bad enough coming off in front of EVERYone, but they have NO show of remounting from the ground in all their gear, so it was the “walk of shame” back to the stables for the poor lad.
love what you are doing well done thanks
Hahahaha. Funny video. Thank you for making my day😂
Hastings is beautiful.thankyouJohn forall uyou do.
There are signs everywhere advising tourists not to get too close to the horses. What a shame they are 1) illiterate and/or totally self absorbed.
Yvonne was indeed the cheeky mare with a penchant for window shopping 😂
Just joined TikTok so I can catch your live tomorrow. 😊
Just love watching your videos. So entertaining. 😊
Thank you Claire! 🙏🏻❤️
She’s definitely a sweetheart ❤
Hi John, great videos and brilliant commentary. For the benefit of your subscribers (who may not know), there are a few videos of the Guards & their horses on holiday at the beach -" Seagrass & Saddles - The Household Cavalry horses riding on the beach at Holkham". Enjoy.
I can second watching those videos you mention. Just horses and riders enjoying each other’s company…..they do the heart good(even if your heart is a withered old lump of coal like mine 😉🤣)
Yes agree also yellow Craig beach 2023 is brilliant filming
You’re so good at this … the best one in my opinion!
Never approach a horse that has 2 sets of reins and a tie down.
@@terryKessler42719 -They have to stand perfectly still for a long time. You want to stop them from stretching their neck too?
The horse has to have some fun with the tourists. I enjoy your videos.
John big protest outside parliament hence so much police activity❤
I Love George Burns with the Blue Jacket❤🧥21:14
I don't do Tic Tok - wish you did live You Tube occasionally? (Pretty please). 😂
I love Frenchies. Except when the men wear banana hammocks at the beach.
Budgie Smugglers 😂😂😊😊
Well…….possibly better than NOT wearing them? 🫣😯
Should any of us be able to come visit we will know how to behave, we'll also look for the red headed pale man who has shared so much with us, thank you
Adorei o video.
Vendo os turistas tendo mais respeito com o guarda e seu cavalo.
O policial estando proximo a guarda. Passará mais respeito. ❤❤
This horse has a very sweet face❤
Que rostro perfecto que tiene el guardia, compañero de John.❤
The bloody Guard isn't a nanny, look after your own brats!
Thanks for the video, I’ll try my best and wake up to witness tomorrows live on TikTok ✨
My farrier was just here a couple of weeks ago. The 3 horses here (US) are barefoot
being a EX ambulance man , the raod ,,, the speed of the Vehicle's .....is hard , Wonder if any one been hurt .....soory , my head thinking some one could be hit .
See you Sunday , video I meant. Hi from Kentucky
Another great video thanks.
Absolutely glorious in Northern Ireland today so sunny and bright and chilly xxxc
This horse always looks as if he's talking to himself he makes me laugh
Good morning John. Hope all is well with you. So enjoy watching you and wishing the best year coming up for you. So wish i could travel to London Italy Paris and Spain. Watching your videos helps me take part in my travels.
It's all good m8, everyone deserves a sleep in every now and then 💤
John that guard is watching you and giving you the evil eye.
I do tend to look at the blaze or the white or non-white hooves.
You should write traits down on your list like nipper, doesn't like crowds, chilled, loves kids, it will help you identify them when markings are the same and you carn't see hoof number
John, Hastings is talking and Ivonne looked like she was making fun of the kid chewing gum! 😂😂😂
Nope! I tried your friends channel. It’s nowhere near as good as you are.❤
Good morning, John. Having my cereal at 4:30 a.m. and about to make a large pot of double bergamot Earl Grey as this Live occasion calls for it. Looking forward to hearing you restrain yourself from blue humour.😆 Seriously, hope it all goes well.
Cheers, D.
This is Saturday at 2:09 pm we are getting our first snow here
Matching hoof numbers and horses are hard if troopers struggle and they work with them often no wonder you can mess it up hoof numbers can get filled with hoof oil and even the process of branding can make it hard im so glad your not giving out numbers horse theft is massive even for the military it also stops people targeting the troopers etc especially if the horse has certain traits you carnt trust people these days unfortunately I just love to watch you try to guess the names
@jayjohnson8426
-Punctuation please.
Hoof and nail care is important with all animals as the nail grows all the time horses where shoes for a number of reasons but its all to stop the bones becoming harmed or foundering done correctly it doesn't hurt the horse at all
Love knowing the names now 😊
Thank you John night night sleep well sweet dreams xxxxx
