as this bike has a 750w motor, you would need a licence to ride on public roads and tracks.

Hope this will clarify things. The Himiway Cruiser supplied to the UK meets EAPC rules.

My mom and dad are both in their mid/late 50s. Neither of them had been massively active due to work/other commitments. Since getting pedal assisted bikes, they’ve both really bonded going on off road rides together around the country. They’re not for everyone but I think they definitely have made people more active.

What a great idea for Mandy! It is just wonderful that now Mandy has a way to enjoy that beautiful countryside of England without compromising her health. And I think that you might even put it to use with a run out to do some shopping yourself if you are kind of feeling the effects of a cold or something and not feeling like peddling so hard. Very kind of Himiway to provide that for you to test and review. Enjoy it my friend and I will see you on the next one.

Nice bike Sandy, i've had a Merida Ebike for 3 years now, only tips I can give is keep the tyre pressure at the maximum, good running gear maintenance and check the tyres for thorns weekly, even though they state puncture proof or resistance, thorns undetected eventually work their way through to the inner tube and its a bugger fixing a puncture on these heavy bikes! Oh, and the battery will not thank you for very cold storage conditions.

Great video, I'm really pleased Mandy enjoyed herself the bike looks really robust, my wife and i are both disabled walking for me is extremely painful I also have ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) I had a normal bike however when I tried to get off it my legs gave way due to the above problems, my body felt absolutely drained of energy I couldn't even stand up I sat for an hour or so and eventually got home, those bikes would probably help me tremendously however I'm afraid of spending all that money and finding that it doesn't help. As always Sandy I love your videos and give Mandy a big WELL DONE. See you soon

What i find with my ebike is that tyre pressure can affect the battery range so i would pump those big tyres up as much as you can before it starts to feel an uncomfortable ride ,also i set my bike up tubeless with latex sealant and no inner tubes and punctures are a thing of the past . Frosty weather and cold days will also affect the range too , Looks a great bike for your good lady wife .

My biggest problem on an E bike is am i going to get enough range but iv'e not run out yet , range anxiety . My wife has an E bike too and thats another worry because she can get carried away and with her lack of ability ride too fast and if she may fall off or hit something and get injured but i keep a close eye on her . I like the look of that bike. I have been thinking I would like something like that to set up for fishing in places like Miami Florida along the canal paths or the Root River in Wisconsin where parking is very limited and biking or walking is the only to access good areas. Outdoor activity like fishing or camping is far more fun if you can stay mobile. Looks like Mandy had a great time on her ride. Looks like a ticket for a ride to good health.

Been active my whole life jogging , hiking ,kayaking etc. Now at 74 with five stints in my heart electric bikes have allowed me and my wife to stay active. We live in a very rural area with some steep hills and without pedal assist we wouldn't be able to bike. We ride a 20 mile out and back route every other day . We both have over 5000 miles on our bikes and it has opened up new possibilities as we take them on various trails we couldn't ride otherwise. Some say you don't get any exercise on an Ebike. I know for a fact and many studies have shown this is BS. I can no longer jog or walk any distance comfortably but for some reason riding a bike doesn't bother me as long as I have a little help when I need it. Wish I was still young and could ride without assist but Father time ALWAYS wins. I know your wife will enjoy her Ebike and I will bet you will get one for yourself inasmuch as your hip problem and your inability to keep up with your wife on rides will eventually necessitate you to bite the bullet. I originally bought my wife an Ebike because we were carrying our bikes to a local paved Greenway and though I'm not a fast rider she couldn't keep up with me. After I bought her an Ebike I found I couldn't keep up with her so I got one for myself. So now instead of loading our bikes and driving 50 miles round trip several times a week we are able to leave from our house to ride. I used to fill up my little truck every 8-10 days now I fill it once every 3 weeks so I'm saving a bundle on gas.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  Год назад +2

      Hi Larry,
Thats a wondeerful comment and you raised some good points. Yes Old father time will win in the end and I must say I am beginning to struggle with my hip. I feel that the day will come when I too have an ebike especially when riding with my wife.
Without Ebike assist Mandy would not be able to ride at all, I think they are wonderful and will as you quite correctly say give you some gentle exercise too which is all we need as we get older.
      Thanks and take care
      Sandy

From the clues, it seems you have the new 'BootZipper' frame, so hopefully we can soon (?) expect a fuller "out and about" video with that bike in the starring role.
Question: what was the saddle you and your friends were keen on, Mr. W.M.? Was it a 'Charge'? - any views/insights on that now you've had it on your MTB for a little while would be appreciated - looks like I'll be (back) on two wheels again soon, but gosh, how that hurt these old and neglected leg muscles ):

@@WiltshireMan Couldn't agree more Sandy as what she deals with within herself and tries to march on is another story, but seems about to change by the look on her face. As it must be a ton lifted off of her, on the bike and off, paddle if you want or just cruise. what a great plus to those who can but now use a chair. Best you pack two sets of spare batteries I reckon, be no stopping either of you now.

Hi Sandy, I've looked at these e bikes in the past and you're correct about being able to unlock the extra power if you wish. You should also be able to change the readout from kph to mph too.

That would be useful to change it to MPH but I think I'll leave the power settings alone. Mandy could become reckless and get a sppeding ticket:)
