Dr berry can you offer any advice on my father's situation, he was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and I've finally got him to do keto, however he is getting discouraged because he hasn't lost anything in the 3.5 weeks he's been doing it. He's in his 60s, pre diabetic, and needs to lose at least 80pounds.
@@abbeyguijosa8482 Dr. Annette Bosworth (Bozmd.com) helped her mother with chemotherapy for leukemia using keto principles. She wrote about her experiences in the book "Any Way You Can." She worked closely with her mother's oncologist and so should you, of course. All material on the Internet should be used for its educational value. Dr. Berrry's book, "Lies My Doctor Told Me" asks you to be gentle and respectful, but possibly stubborn, to get consideration of anything that might help your father's health.
I have a question about the diet, weight reduction and what happens to the "fat calories" if you go over your count? Im really trying to not over think this process but I know there are times I've "stalled" and it always happens when I stray outside of some very strict guides for myself now that I'm nearing the age of 55.
Doc, I just got bloodwork today after 4 months on keto. My A1C dropped from 15.9 to 6.3, total cholesterol went from 1,091 to 80, and Triglycerides went from 5,000 to 245. 100% keto success. Thank you for your videos.
In case you don't have time to watch the whole thing: 1. Understand what a stall is 2. Don't weigh everyday 3. Not counting Macro's / tracking 4. Carb Creep 5. Don't trust Big Food Names (they round down carbs, manipulate serving size, use misleading wording and use sugar and sugar substitutes) 6. Decrease Stress 7. Optimize Sleep 8. Heavy Whipping Cream can stall (.6g carb & .8 protein per serving) 9. Too much protein 10. Too much sweeteners (even keto approved) 11. Try Carnivore diet short term 12. Try Fasting (Autophagy) 13. See a Doctor ( if nothing works)
This guy is brilliant and deserves all the support we can give him. So I urge everyone to consider letting one ad play right through, so that he can get the income from that. This is especially important because it's only a matter of time before the 'Big Food' mafia attempt to 'take him out'!
@@finlayobrien7841 I don't think that he's got a say in what kind of ad yt puts in e.f. hiw long are they or if there is 1 or to running in s sequence... dr berry can adjust only - if there can be ads or no ads during the clip... the rest - length, number, frequency is up to yt ... bug I might be slightly wrong 😉🤔
I threw the scale away. I’ve never felt this good. People are commenting on how good my skin looks for a 58 year old woman. I love the proper human diet. Yes indeed I have roller coaster loss. It’s slowly but surely coming off. Thank you for all your videos. You and your wife are inspirational.
I turned 60 in December and ALL my facial wrinkles have gone, my skin is hydrated, turgor and tonus are like 30 years ago again. Also my alopecia is better, hair growing again. I had turned totally white during the last 5 years, but now my hair is growing colored again! 😊
I've been doing keto/ low carb way of eating off and on for 25 yrs and I have observed some things over the years with these so called "stalls". They are not really stalls, when a person is still in ketosis/ fat burning mode and at enough of an energy deficit to still require stored body fat for energy. What happens is that the body liquidfies the fat in the fat cell and uses it for energy and as this happens you will notice your fat areas looking more soft and "flabby" and less firm than they were before. This is how you know visually that your body is in the process of slimming down that area. Then the liquid fat is removed from the fat cell and used for energy but the body replaces that fat in the cell with water. This is why you might not look or weigh less and may even feel bloated and weigh more on the scale, even though you are in the process of slimming down and losing weight. This water in the fat cell can be retained for a week or two but eventually it will be shed and suddenly you will notice that area is not only firm again but smaller. Jiggly fat on a keto diet is a good sign. It's the fat that's about to get burned off the body.
I sure would like to believe that. I noticed this morning that I have that 'easy to grab' loose fat around my midsection. I only have about 10-15 lbs to go, but pretty sure that's where it's hiding. I'm 65 and worried about being saggy - so not sure how that part gets addressed? I do exercise. aerobic walking, step routines and free weights. 2-3-4 times a week for minimum of 30 minutes. Once summer or even just warmer weather gets here with a little sunshine - I'm pretty sure that will help. right now - in Illinois - we're in the deep freeze. Ice storms, freezing cold, overcast - and foggy when it gets above 32 degrees. really depressing.
@@ssergeant9682 it will eventually firm up after the burning of the fat process. Its just during the process your flabby, when you get down to where you don't have much fat to burn you will firm up.
I’m not entirely sure that’s how the body works... and the body gets rid of fat collectively, not just from certain parts of the body. Stop weighing yourself so much and measure yourself. Dr Ken literally just said that as I was typing it - just measure yourself and pay attention to those numbers instead of the scale!
@@hamstersniffer Congrats! I stareted with low carb inching into KETO. Stall after 41 lbs with no real exercise except my regular housecleaning plus some. Time for REAL exercise......
Pam H Pretty much me, did a slow progression of low carb into keto. No extra activity, though I should. Just my normal weekend dog hike. I stalled a couple weeks ago so I tossed in intermittent fasting. Now this week I've stalled again with eleven pounds to go. Looking for that next bump. Good luck and don't let the doubters drag us down!
Bill Rayvan Damn, why did you become the kind of person who could write a comment like that? Do you have no self respect or self esteem? Because those are usually (always) the kinds of people who feel the need to put others down!
This is awesome! I am a professor of nursing with a doctorate and I had facial numbness in V2/trigeminal nerve and some vague limb paresthesias, clumsiness walking and they did an MRI. I was told it was MS and referred to neurology. To see a neurologist (first available) took 8 months. Told it was not MS but I should be on a statin due to LDL (I declined citing literature). I’ve been on metformin since 2007 and one day, in a rare moment of genius, I was talking to students about vitamin deficiency and realized that it could be B12. Went keto, started a B12 supplement and my symptoms resolved. Go figure. 😮
@@John577 Dr. Berry and Dr. Berg and the others alwo went through all that schooling, but they have enough interest in the subject, enough curiosity and enough courage to keep improving their knowledge. You won't find many people to pity the MDs.
This is so helpful. 🙏 Thank you so much. I am new to this and 50 years old. The first two weeks I lost 10 lbs and all joint pain was close to zero. Then I just stopped losing weight. I was still sleeping well and my joints felt terrific! But the scale stopped moving, and I was deviated. I still have 90 lbs to go! Understanding how my body will lose weight in fits and starts makes all the difference to me, and I’m re-inspired to stay committed and give it time.
Thanks for the encouragement! This is my 1st week of keto combined with intermittent fasting (18-20 hour fast) I'm a 54 (in July) man who when I started was 5' 10 and 270 lbs. 😳 after week 1 I am down to 262 lbs just by changing my diet and walking these hilly river roads in Alabama. Looking forward to the rest of my life
I'm forty-eight year old woman. I've lost a total of 60 pounds in a year on KETO. Now I've slowed down on my weight loss. I still have a lot of weight to lose. I'm going to try some of your advice. Thank you!!🤗
Just lower your calories because if you are not in a calorie deficit, you will not lose weight. There are plenty of stories of women who lose weight by lowering calories. When you lose weight, your body requires less calories to maintain.
I finally got my new doctor to do the full panel and told her about you. At first she said tsh is all you have to worry about. But she listened when I told her I lost 100 pounds in 6 months listening to you. So she listened and did all the blood work. Guess what? It’s all good now but I was low on vitamin D so now getting treatment for that and feeling a lot better. Thank you so much!
I feel like you spoke to me directly about being a woman over 40. I have been upset with myself for just losing 10 pounds in a month. After this. I get it. And will be patient.
Wow, 10 pounds is brilliant! The slower you lose it, the less likely you are to put it on. It's 'real' weight loss, not just fluid and real diet change. Well done!
Dear Dr., I've been doing keto for a couple of years. I went from 178 to at my lowest, 115. I'll be 49 in a week. Over the last 1/2 year, I've gained 10 lbs and can not seem to get rid of it! It's very discouraging. So I should start tracking macros? 🤔 I did do OMAD for so long, but I've fallen off that lately. I feel that it is a hormonal issue with me but not sure. It's just so frustrating.
Moved 3000 miles to get away from ugly stressors of people who hated me. Loving myself more every day. NOW is when I tackle all the other issues that are blocking me from weight (fat) loss. And oh that clock thing.. .so right!!
I am new to the keto diet and newly diagnosed with type2 diabetes. Im over 40 and thought I'd hit a stall after no loss for 3 days! Ive already lost 17lbs, after 4 weeks. AC1 was 10.7 The information in this video has really helped. Thanks. Im really enjoying eating real food and love all the support there is on here. I've educated myself. Knowledge is power! 👍
Dr Berry you ROCK! I’ve just started Keto after buying into all the lies for most of my life. Good to know my weight loss is just slow and not to worry. I’m 61 and prediabetic. Your vid on type II was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I am treating this as a medical emergency. It further bolstered my determination to live Keto. I love Dr. Hyman so maybe a duo with him? In any case you are what a Dr should be and I thank you.
Thanks for this! I am in menopause (58 yrs old) and doing keto for 6+weeks. I lost 12 lbs in first 5 weeks but nothing since. I also have Hashimoto's. I'm so glad it's to be expected. Phew.
Love Dr. Berry! lol. Things he says like: 1. "creepy carbs & sneaky sugars" 2. "the google machine" 3. "if you'd like to push your life partner down the stairs..." Not only do you educate, but you entertain! You're the best at keeping me listening!
I'm over 40 and lost 10lbs my first week and a pound each day after BUT TODAY I didn't loose a pound, I gained 1! I was horrified. I immediately looked your video up. I'm very diligent about weighing my food, exercising daily and intermittent fasting 12/12. I test my ketones EVERYDAY and I'm currently in ketosis so I was confused how I gained a pound. Your video helped curb my fear. Thank you so much, sincerely!
I've been carnivore for 22 weeks (since 25th Feb 2024) and my weight loss has pretty consistently been 3 weeks steady weight loss followed by 1 week plateaued, but so far never weight gain. Over this time period my waist measurement has dropped slowly, in fits and starts. Fractions of an inch at a time. This month my weight loss has seriously slowed down. Possibly because I have had a higher stress week, applying for a job, going for my first interview in nearly 20 years. This week I haven't lost any weight, but my waist measurement has dropped 2" in 1 week which is huge! Also for the first time in more than a decade I have been able to put my wedding and engagement rings back on! So I will take those 2 as "non scale wins" for this week.
After researching low carb for 2 years, & deciding to make life change with low carb, Been watching you (from uk.) since you started. You make perfect sense. Best thing is you are not a keto snob but a common sense doc. Thank you so much for all additional info that pulls it all together. We always ate "healthily" but kept gaining weight. Low carb works for us. You're so right, my(female) weight loss stalls a little but I am losing 'inches' 3 dress sizes in 3 months. This is the only lifestyle that works with no hunger. We also find intermittent fasting so easy. This extra info helps even more. My chiropractor gave me encouragement doing this, I told him about you & he tells his patients😁 Thank you for speaking out. You are plain speaking, re-assuring doctor that everbody needs. Thankyou "Berry" much! Hero!!
I know you don't want to push your beautiful wife down the stairs or nothing like that! But can you have another? I think I'm in love! Lol JK You are awesome
just stumbled onto your video. Thank you for addressing the hormonal differences between male and female (assigned at birth) and how that affects weight loss. Esp. the advice on not weighing yourself daily (females) and that our weight loss is not going to be occurring in a linear fashion. Great job and excellent video!!
I've pretty much given up on prepared foods and most restaurants. I'm doing a lot more cooking these days, usually 1-pan style meals. There's simply no comparison.
Seems to be an American problem. I've read where people come to visit from other countries and find so many y of our foods as too sweet, stuff like ketchup, hamburgers buns, etc
I love what you say about the scale! Ever since I was younger, the importance of weighing yourself was influenced on me and I become so obsessive with it. Checking 4-5 times a day along with my sister before we even reached middle school. In high school, I finally reached a weight I liked and then decided I will judge myself by how I appear in the mirror and feel on the inside. Unfortunately things happen... And years later I got way too on the heavy side and luckily was introduced to Keto 5 months ago By my grandmother. And every time she sees me she lectures me on how I need to weigh every single day! I have told her I can tend to have an unhealthy addiction to the scale and she still won't listen. I weigh myself once every two weeks or so and when she sees me and tells me that I look smaller, I know I'm doing right and I just fib about weighing myself (some people only wanna hear what they want to hear so I give it to them...) so it's so wonderful to here you say how it doesn't matter and can cause stress! My grandmother and I are both on Keto and have been for the same amount of time. I've lost 40lbs, she's only lost 15lbs... (I know age difference matters) but I will be sending her this video to get her on the right track (and also she will see how wrong she is about the scale lol)
Thank you, Dr. Berry, your information really helps me cleared my worries. I'm 63 now and doing intermittent fasting, it was doing so well, suddenly since last week it's stopped. Now I know what causing it.
I started eating bbb&e, and have lost 30 pounds in 8 weeks without trying. I feel satiated after eating and I'm not eating nearly as much food. This is NOT a diet, it's a new way of life. I've bought your book, and I'm sharing what it says with lots of people, including my doctors. I will give an update in 2 months regarding my A1C, ect.
I needed this exact video! I’ve been psyching myself out because I haven’t dropped anything in four days and that tends to happen once a month. I need to remember that I am a woman and that’s going to happen.
great video your answering all my questions. I'm just in the beginning as a new person to this lifestyle and can use a lot of help. I was starting to feel some anxiety with weighing myself daily and explaining how a women (I'm way over 50) can fluctuate has relieved me a lot just tracking how much I eat was eye awaking I've never had to really lose weight before but menopause sucks and has really done a number on me but this healthy way of eating has helped me soooo much thank you Please do more on older women and hormones greatly appreciated
Thank you Dr.Berry, I had a fairly steady weight loss until I lost 70 pounds. I still have 40-50 to go. All of a sudden the scale is up and down. I've decided to weigh once a month. I am female and 43, exactly as you said!
Thank you Dr Berry. For the first time in my yoyo dieting career, this is now about my health and less about the scale. I weigh in Once every 3 weeks. I measure my su cess by the reduction of my symptoms, from Stage 3 dementia down to no memory loss. My joints don't lock anymore, no more crazy running after carbs to stabilize blood sugar. Thank you for your dedication to health. Carnivore almost 4 months.
Ken - question and this may be a good topic for a video. Looking at Stevia.... the liquid has 0 carbs while The powder has 1 g - any reason why that would be or is this labeling bs like you spoke about. Thanks!
I have to thank you for this. Your the first person who has been telling exactly what I needed to hear. I'm insulin resistant woman and I have been platouing for months n I got frustrated and binged
Thank you Dr. Berry for speaking so eloquently that anyone can understand so easily what you are teaching us. You have a wonderful way of teaching us about Keto. You are so honest and I appreciate that so very much. God Bless You.
Thank you Dr. Berry! Really loving your videos. I discovered you recently and have been on a roll watching your content. I am currently working my way towards a keto diet. Currently doing low carbs, high fat. I've lost 18lbs. but I feel tired from the low carbs. I want to feel the added performance once my body starts burning fat as energy. Wish me luck!
This information is golden! I’m so glad it came into my recommendations. I’m only a 3 weeks in and apart from dropping 7 lbs in the first week nothing has happened since. I have lost 2 inches off my waist though weirdly 🤷♀️. I’m ditching the double cream and Stevia right this second and downloading a tracker app!
I really needed to hear this today, it's confirmation for me. I'm noticing the inches and I'm not going to weigh in for 4 weeks. Was doing it weekly, but it's frustrating and trigger for discouragement. Thank you.
I’m starting to lose “something “. Not so much weight as yet like I did even three years ago but I am losing puffiness. My skin is changing for the better with all the water. I am losing one, gaining two, etc which was frustrating me until this video. Thank you. Slow & steady is better anyway Oh my goodness. So the saying “I gain weight just looking at food” has truth to it.
This is an excellent video, and it answers a lot of questions.. because I'm an older woman who has an up-and-down weight loss pattern. But month after month I see the Improvement. I'm just going to be patient. Plus I love what I eat! It's great to not be hungry, and still lose weight.
Dr. Berry: Here's a couple of my thoughts: How about a little wisdom at the start of the day like, "Ya know, this could be a really great day... Maybe the best day of my life!!" (pretty positive way of looking at things, eh?) Now, lets use a 70 yr. old male- 73" tall who 4 mos. ago weighed in at 300 lbs-- 44 and 1/2" plus waist pant size.. sedentary.. with tingling in the feet and hands... Then started on Keto and LOST 80 lbs... waist size 37 and 1/2"... walking tours twice a day... no buzzing at the extremities... and, no more eczema problems.... sleeping well and deep... YEP,,, but,, seems to be stalled for a bit... say a month or so... AND, wants to lose that last 1" 1/2 of belly waist fat... The Plateau phase, which I think the body says, "Hey, that's enough of this fat burning.. Let's keep about 20 lbs of fat in reserve!!"... Here's what seems to be the solution, at least for me... because at the plateau stage, I seemed to be feeling a bit weak and lethargic, even though I was still doing my strict Keto plan And intermittent fasting... (I also got the sense that I was losing muscle tone... maybe burning protein??) So... I very gradually began a morning supplement of whey protein isolate... (about 1/2 scoop from the can or approx. 75 calories per the label).. Plus a 500 mg. supplement of Cinnamon... And Bang!! Big energy boost... (I think the protein supplement is a better way to go than just eating larger weight volumes of meat, i.e. steaks or bacon, or whatever... 5 ounces of meat compared to about 1/2 oz of supplement.. but I may be wrong... Anyway, the belly fat is heading down again.. albeit at a slow pace... but my energy has increased by leaps and bounds.. And I feel so good... thank-you... (my personal solution may not be the answer for others.. I don't know) Lastly, I want to add a topic about health that doesn't seem to be mentioned by anyone... And that is "sexual health" and activity... Meaning, increased libido and interest in sex is basically healthy and stimulating for the mind and body... I am talking in a "decent" sense and general well-being... I will leave it to others to research the benefits of Brain activity and dopamine release, etc.. Just seems like an important but often not mentioned topic as it relates to body shaping and ego... Well, whatever.
the 1st 50 pounds came off pretty fast, the next 10 were a struggle, now i feel i'm stalled for a month. i think # 8, 9, and 10 might be my issues. I know this video was posted a while ago, but finding it helpful now. Thank you.
You thought to mention several different scenarios-- midlife! woman!-- which helps so much! Thank you, can just calm down and carry on... blessings Dr Berry!! You rock.
One greatly overlooked thing is that alot women assume they are stalled out on Keto, because they do not see losses on the scale for weeks. This can easily be mitigated by always taking measurements, rather than relying on the scale. You can lose inches, but not see the scale going down. Body recomposition is real with Keto! Something else I do, is only weigh once a month 5 days after my cycle ends. Having freedom from the scale is priceless!!!!
I have only started Keto in the last week. This was a very inspirational video. It definitely opened my eyes up. Thank you very much for sharing! You have a new subscriber.
Looking forward to hearing your take on carnivory as a way of life. I’ve been doing it for 6 months and I’ve never felt or slept better! I don’t want to go back to keto...
Doc you make too much dam sense. For some reason I just take in everything you say because most of this stuff is true and I already knew it, so that alone makes me trust your word because your word is bond. Thank you for this and every video you make for us so we may stay healthy. I need to support this channel because I don't ever want you to go away. Bless you Doc, Mom should be so proud of her son, I know I would.......♡
You have been a absolute inspiration to me. 3 days without stevia, splenda - any of it. Know what? It's not that hard? I ate breakfast this morning - 2 eggs, 2 strips bacon - and forgot to eat until dinner. I can't thank you enough!
One of those tiny pills of Necta Sweet saccharin in my morning mug of coffee doesn’t raise my blood glucose...Not much room for additives in .5 grain pills! (Pink packet Sweet ‘n Low’s FIRST ingredient is dextrose, a sugar.😱) I forgot to add. My ketones stay between 4-6 and I’ve lost 16 pounds in a month.
@@dana102083 If gonna use it, use the liquid---the powder has the maltodextrin. But why bother, just allow yourself to get used to not having the sweet.
This is so reassuring. Thank you. I have been stalled just over a week, and haven't even lost inches, but I've been really good on carnivore for that whole time. I didn't want to force myself to not eat when I am hungry, and was starting to get worried. I will stick with it!
I'm 39 and dropped 15lbs in 3 weeks...now it's been 1.5lb this week. lol. Still the right direction and enjoying having slaw with my salads. Love how I feel, can already move better and no longer have aches in my ankles when I first get out of bed.
Such amazing info. I have learned more in the past 6 months, than I have all my 78 years. You make so much sense. Thank you. Love your family. We lived in Hendersonville for 3 years. Moved back to Iowa because of job.
I've listened to hundreds of videos. This was worth passing on to my daughter. I wish there were more Dr's knowledgeable about Keto! Thanks for educating yourself beyond basic Medical school!
64 years old and lost 40 lbs but more importantly reversed 23 years of type2 diabetes (meds and 4 types of insulin) Is that a miracle? It is to my medical specialist and to me. I am in a stall and am now listening to this video ... thanks so much for being original and flat out honest about everything - also being FREE is a huge bonus
Such a good video! Thanks. I’ve done many of these points, using heavy whipped cream, sweeteners in my coffee during IF or in my water.. and my weights was always jumping up and down. Whenever I tried to stop eating sugar I’d dream about mountains of sweet food 😬🙈 I’ve been keto for many years and tried carnivore once for a short period of time. I’m about to try it again, which is why I came across you. Great content
I'm doing keto/IF, started at 263 lbs. (5'5"- 62 yr old female). My blood pressure got really high, which jumpstarted me into trying! I've lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks and my pressure came down to nearly normal in about 3 weeks. My weight loss has plateaued a couple of times, I find a slightly longer fast gets it started again. I feel SO MUCH BETTER.
This is great! Thank you. I've just started Keto, with intermittent fasting and OMAD. I am in moderate ketosis. Think I will emphasize carnivore for 2-4 weeks, see how I do.
WOW!! Thank you so much for all of your advice. Everything you said is true and I'm living it. Lots more to learn but I'm definitely walking away with a lot of new knowledge. Been on Keto 2 weeks now and down a total of 7 lbs.
I have been watching many different videos on Keto and find it difficult to figure out what is the “right” way and healthy way to do Keto. Dr Berry, your videos are awesome and most helpful and comforting to me since you provide facts about how it all works and because you are a medical doctor. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. I have many people who have been asking how to do Keto, now I will be sending them all to watch your RUclips videos and sharing your information. Thank you again.
Dr. Berry, in 2006 I weighed 485 pounds and decided to get a lap band, with that I lost 100 pounds and couldn’t lose more. On September 3, 2018 I ended up in the hospital cellulitis for 17 days at time I decided that if I didn’t do something for a life style change, i wasn’t going to have a good quality of life. My sister informed me of the Keto diet and your videos. At that time I had very high blood pressure, A1C of 6.4, hi cholesterol, and weight of 385. Today my blood pressure is at a level that I only take a small dose of medication otherwise it get to low. My A1C is now at 5.2 and my cholesterol is within normal ranges. My weight is now 295 pounds, so that 190 weight loss. I want to thank you for your guidance during this journey and I will be Keto for life.
frederick sta ana I feel like this video really respectfully validated those of us who are busting ass to do this right... I’m all in with this process... but it’s just that... a process of learning and growing... it’s exciting and fun too... I think the key is to be a willing student and a long term approach... I too loved this. Thank you Dr. Berry! ❤️😴😴😴😴😴😴🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks I already know most of what you’re talking about and really hate weighing myself for the reasons you talk about. I am going to weigh myself once a week and get use to not using stevia in my keto coffee. Thanks for the pep talk. I could never figure out why my husband does so much better on this diet than me:)))
Julia Nilea? Bless your heart... keep on keeping on! ❤️❤️... I’m turning 49 and KNOW the struggle is real... you got this, girl! Be encouraged.... NEVER QUIT! The race is not won by the strong but by those who keep on running. My heart felt your comment. Wanted you to know that you’re not alone. 😄😄😄🥀🥀🥀🐢🐢🐢
WOW! I had no idea being almost 50, having a complete hysterectomy and being a woman would stop me from losing weight. I've had so many non-scale improvements and my inflammation has gone way down. I always thought I was patient...haha! I guess I need to work on that :) Thank you so much for all of your videos and sharing your wealth of knowledge! Thank you! Thank you!
The other thing that stopped you from losing weight was eating too much food and being in an energy surplus. By your logic and bogus explanations, you could never eat food again yet still continue to not lose weight because you’re a woman. 30years into the future, not having eaten a single calorie the entire time, and you’d still be at the same weight as an 80 year old. Makes sense. Must be the female thing. It’s amazing that females even need to eat anything at all then. They seem to run on sunlight or gravity.
I’ve been back on carnivore for a couple of months. I’ve really had it with trying to lose weight. I’ve watched my whole family eat junk every day and I’ve eaten mostly hamburger, sometimes choking down sardines or mackerel , yuck. I haven’t lost an once and I’m completely losing faith that I can be anything but a swollen toad of an old woman. So frustrated.
Tomorrow I will complete my first 90 days on Carnivore. It has been a roller coaster with a few (very few) slip ups. I am morbidly obese and I am a 63 years old female. I did non loose weight, nor did I loose inches. I do feel good and cravings are slowly but surely going away. I have marvellous skin and my inflammation is going down. But I really thought I would lose at least a bit 😅
“1962”.... Im over here cracking up... you sound like you could very well be my twin! I always say I’ve working on reducing my stress level and weight since 1958, (basically a year after I was born in 1957!). 🤣
Thank you for this video. There are so many things you said in this one that I really needed to hear. I have been eating keto for almost 3 months and so far I have lost 39 pounds. I have been fluctuating up and down 3 pounds for the last few weeks and it is very frustrating. I still have about 100 pounds to lose so I want to make sure everything I am doing is right. I will definitely be cutting out my sweeteners and heavy cream from my coffee and most likely will try carnivore very soon. Thank you for everything you do!
Love this one Doc! Stupidly small serving size, haha! I laughed out loud, and its so true! Such good points made here. Carb creep is a thing. After losing 50 lbs. at 67 years old, weight does eventually slow and these reasons are definitely worth revisiting. Life partner I want to push down the stairs, lol! You make listening to info fun! If you fail to plan, you plan to fail! I am a new Patreon subscriber just because you are such a kind, smart and fun person spreading the keto work. You and Neisha are awesome! Oh NO! I clearly need to cut down on the HWC and maybe protein. I do use a tracker, but not as religiously as I used to. Okay, apparently were all doomed if dreaming about chocolate cake can increase our insulin response, lol! I am very interested in both carnivore and autophagy. Good video. xoxoMarjorie
@@KenDBerryMD Like most of the physicians pushing this "lifestyle" agenda the Doc. is personable, just TALKING to us, not lecturing. As a pretty uneducated individual the "know it all" types that think of us as dummies get on my last nerve. I quite literally stumbled upon my current physician after 29 years a type 2 diabetic. My first visit he told me I could REVERSE diabetes, get totally off insulin. After having heard the last 50 of my 70 years that was an impossible dream I discounted what he said immediately. He had scheduled an appointment for me with his nutritionist so I did a little Googling and VOILA!! I came across Dr. Bery, Dr. Jason Fung and others with the same message. In twelve days I've lost over twenty pounds and my insulin use down by half. The edema in my feet is GONE!! And they were huge. Arthritis is considerably better. After two days of the "keto flu" and a week of diarrhea it's ALL been positive. My Doc has a Facebook page and does a little "social" stuff but he spends a great deal of time speaking to other Docs. at one of the largest medical centers on the planet. Dr. Berry is still in the minority when it comes to Docs. KNOWING what now is possible. So I consider my Docs. time well spent in sharing the message with other physicians. Following Dr. Berry keeps me MOTIVATED. Knowledge and a positive outlook are invaluable tools. He possesses both. I cannot thank him enough.
The new Atkins lemon bar and cheesecake bar don't slow my ketosis at all. Neither does the Atkins vanilla lemon wafer bar. I plan to test more Atkins foods and other brands.
Thanks for all you do! I needed this video. I gained 2 lbs today and thought well it's happening again, what happens in everything I try to get to a healthy weight. I am a 44 female. A lot of useful information I am def going to try and keep in mind.
Doc..I have been on this diet for 3 months because I had diabetes and high blood pressure and was not doing well at all health wise so I started watching your videos following your advice went back to the doctor she said what have you been doing your a1c went from a 8-10 to a 4.8 and my blood pressure was like a 20 year old so thanks for what you do and I'm fixing to be 65
Thank you, Dr. Berry. I've shared this video with my loved ones. I'm so blessed by every one of your videos, stay healthy and keep up the excellent work. We love you!

KenDBerryMD you’re awesome ken! Thank you for all the wonderful information. I’m so grateful I found you on RUclips!

I have a question about the diet, weight reduction and what happens to the "fat calories" if you go over your count? Im really trying to not over think this process but I know there are times I've "stalled" and it always happens when I stray outside of some very strict guides for myself now that I'm nearing the age of 55.
My thyroid tested in bad shape, back on Levothyroxin back up to 50 mcgs a day. Will this affect my keto diet?
Doc, I just got bloodwork today after 4 months on keto. My A1C dropped from 15.9 to 6.3, total cholesterol went from 1,091 to 80, and Triglycerides went from 5,000 to 245. 100% keto success. Thank you for your videos.
Wow!
Umm, your total cholesterol is lower than your Triglycerides? what?
Damn, your body was screaming help. Good job.
Keep up your good work Philip!
Philip whoa keep up the good work and keep active. And tell us a few foods you like? 💕
In case you don't have time to watch the whole thing:
1. Understand what a stall is
2. Don't weigh everyday
3. Not counting Macro's / tracking
4. Carb Creep
5. Don't trust Big Food Names (they round down carbs,
manipulate serving size, use misleading wording and
use sugar and sugar substitutes)
6. Decrease Stress
7. Optimize Sleep
8. Heavy Whipping Cream can stall (.6g carb & .8 protein
per serving)
9. Too much protein
10. Too much sweeteners (even keto approved)
11. Try Carnivore diet short term
12. Try Fasting (Autophagy)
13. See a Doctor ( if nothing works)
thank you so much !!!

Thank you so much, I'm watching the video but appreciate you letting us know what is in the video. x
This guy is brilliant and deserves all the support we can give him. So I urge everyone to consider letting one ad play right through, so that he can get the income from that.
This is especially important because it's only a matter of time before the 'Big Food' mafia attempt to 'take him out'!
Too late they’ve already tried.
I pay for ad free.
Some of his ads run all the way without the option to skip

I turned 60 in December and ALL my facial wrinkles have gone, my skin is hydrated, turgor and tonus are like 30 years ago again.
Also my alopecia is better, hair growing again. I had turned totally white during the last 5 years, but now my hair is growing colored again! 😊
Love this!! 🥰🤭❤️
I’ve been stalled for 2 weeks and my stomach is extra soft and jiggly! I hope you’re right
Fuzzy dog pa thank you so much for your inspiring comment. I think it may also be the thing that makes us think we are losing muscle!
27 weeks on keto. Lost 50.1 pounds. Half way to goal!
Sl Shaffer That's about my rate of loss too. I'm having trouble being patient but I know I'll get there. 26 more pounds to go.
Pam H BTW, 41 pounds is awesome!
Go figure. 😮

Looking forward to the rest of my life
how did it go?
I'm forty-eight year old woman. I've lost a total of 60 pounds in a year on KETO. Now I've slowed down on my weight loss. I still have a lot of weight to lose. I'm going to try some of your advice. Thank you!!🤗
Hi Lindi, How are you doing? Have any of these tips worked for you?
Well done!
I lost 5 lbs in a month on carnivore.. it’s so slow I can’t take it but I’m sticking to it
10 lbs in a month is HUGE
Dear Dr., I've been doing keto for a couple of years. I went from 178 to at my lowest, 115. I'll be 49 in a week. Over the last 1/2 year, I've gained 10 lbs and can not seem to get rid of it! It's very discouraging. So I should start tracking macros? 🤔 I did do OMAD for so long, but I've fallen off that lately. I feel that it is a hormonal issue with me but not sure. It's just so frustrating.

I’m over 40 too. I gained .2lbs and went bananas lol. It’s not as easy as it was in my 30’s. :(
I've been carnivore for 22 weeks (since 25th Feb 2024) and my weight loss has pretty consistently been 3 weeks steady weight loss followed by 1 week plateaued, but so far never weight gain.
Esp. the advice on not weighing yourself daily (females) and that our weight loss is not going to be occurring in a linear fashion. Great job and excellent video!!
The serving size thing pisses me off
It is SHOCKING how much sugar is in everything
I am astonished too about the amount of sugars in "regular" food.
@Richard Turner I agree.. I still cannot believe how small a serving size of my favorite cereal is.
I know right :( there is sugar in everything! It sucks :(

@@rhondaricks1544 let’s keep it pushing

Additives in packaged foods is a real problem- maltitol, sorbitol, etc. Messes with hormones, too.
Thank you Dr Berry. For the first time in my yoyo dieting career, this is now about my health and less about the scale. I weigh in Once every 3 weeks.
Thank you.
Thanks for the heavy whipping cream tip. That’s when I stalled out when I started putting that in my coffee 2 or 3 times a day.

I don't know)
Lastly, I want to add a topic about health that doesn't seem to be mentioned by anyone... Well, whatever.
thank you Im a senior woman and I, going to try this
Eating carnivore put my libido in overdrive :)
robert preston I am not an old woman but I'm taking this advice, sir!

the 1st 50 pounds came off pretty fast, the next 10 were a struggle, now i feel i'm stalled for a month. i think # 8, 9, and 10 might be my issues. I know this video was posted a while ago, but finding it helpful now. Thank you.
You thought to mention several different scenarios-- midlife! woman!-- which helps so much! Thank you, can just calm down and carry on... blessings Dr Berry!! You rock.
Beautiful done and well said ... DO NOT TRUST BIG FOOD. Thank you!

Stevia is ok to consume just less of it- like a packet a day and couple of teaspoons

Man I love this guy so glad I found his videos been binge watching lol
Note to body: I'm over 40, done having my babies and now need to shed the pounds. Work with me here!! LOL
Kate's Place yes!
Me too lol.
Note to body: YOU WONT LET ME HAVE ANY KIDS. SO WORK WITH ME HERE!
I'm 39 and dropped 15lbs in 3 weeks...now it's been 1.5lb this week. lol. Still the right direction and enjoying having slaw with my salads. Love how I feel, can already move better and no longer have aches in my ankles when I first get out of bed.
@@elizabethlambert2014 Awwww, Elizabeth, I hope you are able to realize your dream and hold your own little precious baby in your arms!
Loved this! Needed this. I have a weigh day, Monday mornings, keeps me honest through the weekends! Thank you!
Thank you as an MD, endorsing this very controversial way of life. I appreciate all your teachings 🙋
*This is Gold!!* Explains so much Dr Berry. Like Keto Road Signs to look for. Thank you very much. Canada loves you! 🍁
It's been a year, how is your keto journey?
Really appreciate your down to earth way of demystifying the process. Thank you from Hawaii🌴
Partner you'd like to push down the stairs 😂😂😂🤣 I'm dying
Right? I heard this and died laughing!! So damn funny!
Stacy Stalstone I know!!

I almost spit out my food when I heard that
This is why I love DR Berry
His sense of humor is amazing
😂😂😂😂😂
OMG how did he knew!!! 🤣🤣🤣
i know right?! lol!
Love it! 🤣
This topic is gold... thanks doc
frederick sta ana qqqqqqqqaq
frederick sta ana I feel like this video really respectfully validated those of us who are busting ass to do this right...
Yes. The serving size is tricky but it is 2nd grade Math.
Thank you! Thank you!
OMG This sounds like me.
I needed this video my weight has been fluctuating and stressing me out and I am starting to measure today thank you for this video
By far , of all the videos i have ever seen by ANYBODY, this is the best. Information packed.
love you sense of humor dr berry
I’ve been back on carnivore for a couple of months. I’ve really had it with trying to lose weight. I’ve watched my whole family eat junk every day and I’ve eaten mostly hamburger, sometimes choking down sardines or mackerel , yuck. I haven’t lost an once and I’m completely losing faith that I can be anything but a swollen toad of an old woman. So frustrated.
i hear you😞
Tomorrow I will complete my first 90 days on Carnivore.
Your service to humanity is incredible. Thank you so much. God bless
Thanks!
Thank you David!!
LOL. My date to eliminate stress was in 1962. I'm a bit behind schedule...
“1962”.... Im over here cracking up... you sound like you could very well be my twin! I always say I’ve working on reducing my stress level and weight since 1958, (basically a year after I was born in 1957!). 🤣
1962 was an awesome year!!
Born in 1962!!!!
Thanks so much!

Like most of the physicians pushing this "lifestyle" agenda the Doc. is personable, just TALKING to us, not lecturing.
Not long at all....I've been binging doc....ON YOUR VIDEOS! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are truly God send.🙂
Excellent video~ I've been Keto for 3 years and have not only stalled on weight loss I have actually gained weight! Thank you
So glad you called out Adkins products..was needed! Thanks for all this info🙋♀️.
Carolyn Philpott I love the Peanut Butter bars but I know they are not good for me.
Why
The new Atkins lemon bar and cheesecake bar don't slow my ketosis at all. Neither does the Atkins vanilla lemon wafer bar. I plan to test more Atkins foods and other brands.
Was stalled for over two months, even a little weight gain. Finally figured out it was the slightly over a pound of cheese I was snacking on each day.
Duh!
