I think I have a pretty good idea of what is happening.
It doesn't really have issues sucking the pieces of cereal up because it's usually one at a time, however, when it goes to empty itself it is trying to remove it all at once. The star shape is allowing the cereal to bunch up and interlock together causing the blockage at the throat.
I think it's a combo of the size and the shape in this situation.
I think if you repeated the test with either different cereal (fewer pointed edges, maybe rounder or flatter?) or perhaps used two types of cereal at once it wouldn't be able to lock together and clog as easily.
The solution would be for the manufacturer to increase the throat and suction tube size to account for this kind of situation, however unlikely it may be in general day to day use.
I have to admit those pieces of cereal look pretty big!
Hopefully, you can test it again and get better results.
    Thanks for the entertainment!

I think you are right about the reason why it gets stuck. As a solution i would like them to try this: Instead of sucking for 12 seconds straight and hard, it could suck for 3 seconds, wait 1 second without sucking, then again 3 seconds. That way interlocking of elements would be greatly reduced by moving items in the dust bin around. Maybe it can even be done via software update.

Well I know you think they should pick up cereal and they do for the most part but from the past 15 years of owning vacuums and watching review cereal is one of the hardest things for any vacuum to pick up. Nowadays everybody uses cordless vacuums and they all struggle with picking it up as well. So it’s not uncommon is all I’m saying when I used to do these tests I used coffee beans they pick up much better and can prove that the robot is capable of getting all the areas in picking it up. If you want you cereal that’s fine but you’re going to see it fail quite a bit until they re-designed these robots they just can’t do it it’s all there is to it. I get it it should be able to pick it up but they just struggle with it a bit and you’re going to be disappointed if you keep trying. But I would say people without kids don’t have cerial issues as mentioned that is why a lot of people probably say it’s a unrealistic test because who has cereal on the floor. I guess there are the situations when you do have some but I’ve never seen it.

Just bought the M7 pro and last night just got it running and it completed a full map. I am impressed with the navigation BUT it does not pick up dog hair, none of it, not even a little bit of it. I said this can’t be and I wanted to like this new vacuum. So I brought up my old Roomba 561 with updated bin and brushes that is 8 years old and had it go over where the m7 pro went. In 5 mins I had a full bin of dog hair. So I ran it again after cleaning it out and pulled another 1/2 bin of hair. I have German shepherds and wanted a updated bot to help keep the hair down. This robot is a epic failure in the hair department. If your looking for a bot to help clean in between hand vacuums then look elsewhere..BEWARE. It’s being returned tomorrow.

Ok..I want to like the M7 pro...I just gave it another shot this morning. I set up one room to be cleaned 2x and set max power and let it do it’s thing. Carpet looks clean...pulled the bin and barely a quarter full. Ok, maybe it is that clean but my Shepherds shed constantly all year round. I brought my old roomba up again and closed the door for the room. In 5 minutes I pulled the bin and it was completely packed full of hair. And that was after 5 minutes. I even took a pic of the contents. So I just packed the M7 pro back in the box and it’s going back to Amazon. Very disappointed. Roombas are known for the deep clean on carpets because of the patented 2brush system. And it’s pretty bad when a 8 year old bot outperforms the new technology bot with cleaning. I made every excuse to try and keep it but.....see ya!
