    I'd love to know if this 10-minute sequence helped wake up your lazy (or not to lazy) glutes! Did you make it through the whole thing? If so then you are definitely not lazy! 😆 It also pairs very nicely with my 10-minute for hip flexor pain video: ruclips.net/video/1v0qL8DOqe0/видео.html

    I know this is an older video but I'm taking a chance you might reply! At 4:44 I CANNOT do this without my lower back muscles doing all the work. What can I do to try and activate the glutes, other than making sure my abs are engaged?

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  4 месяца назад +2

      If it feels like your lower back is doing too much work, or if it's uncomfortable, feel free to skip that one! Otherwise an interim exercise would be to lift one straight leg behind you while on hands and knees - that'll get at the same muscles to help make them stronger!

    • @shellythrasher4423

After assessing the hamstrings and spine and assessing my behaviour over the past 2 weeks to determine what the issue was. Nothing work, and I started worries how can I continue working like this. Then I followed this video , straight afterwards I felt maybe 70% better. Omg there’s an immediate difference😭😭 I’ve been doing yoga consistently for sciatica flare up prevention, and there’s been this muscle I couldn’t pinpoint that I could tell needed to stretch but I just couldn’t get to it, apparently it’s my glutes. Soooo many hip opening exercises when I should have been worried about my butt.

    Oh, my! I could perform the whole routine, EXCEPT for when it was time to stack my knees on top of each other. My knees were about 12 inches apart! What do I need to work on in order to release these tight muscles?

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  3 года назад +1

      Wonderful job! That's an intense one for sure. Where do you feel like the limitation comes from for you? For many of us, it's down the outside of the leg, so it might be helpful to try this IT Band practice (ruclips.net/video/WbDS4XE5SKs/видео.html) Feel free to comment in case that's not what your body needs!

  • @cuyler4164
    @cuyler4164 2 года назад +1

    Not sure if "comments" is the right spot for questions but here goes ...
    So my hammies are crazy tight (always!) and it seems they limit and prohibit most of my flexibility and movement. When I do most glute stuff, my hammies get lil spasms or charlie-horses ... is this normal?! And I need to get out of most glute contracting poses quickly to relieve the spasms ... is that the right thing to do?!
    Finally, a lot of knee pain (medial) from the "cow face" and "fire log" poses ... should I avoid these or push through to gain flexibility?!
    And ... huge THANKS for all you do!!! It's much appreciated

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  2 года назад +1

      Great job discovering more about which areas need a little more attention! Tight hamstrings can be a frustrating problem for many of us, as can knee issues. Definitely listen to your body and NEVER push into pain. If something doesn't feel right, it's probably wrong and definitely not worth it. The great news is that any pose can be modified and/or skipped entirely and swapped out for something that works better for you. For example, you can try cow face with the bottom leg straight out to see if that gives more space to your hip and knee. If that still doesn't work, just place the foot to the outside of the other leg and look for an angle that will stretch the hip without feeling anything in the knee. Over time the body starts to understand that it's safe to do these more unfamiliar postures and it will start to trust more. I hope that helps!!

      @@YogawithJoelle Thx so much for your response!

      As I'm looking for hamstring relief from your other vids, I started being directed to somatics vids and pandiculation material ...

      That's a good idea, or you can also try keeping your glutes on the floor at first and just squeezing without the lift! Try adding in a small lift every third time or so at first, then eventually you can progress to every other time and one day perhaps to lifting each time if that feels all right in your body. Great job!

    This absolutely helped!! I had the piriformis syndrome bothering me for about 6 mos, really my whole abdominal area, it was a struggle to walk! Trying several things to overcome, and nothing was helping!!! I thought to try yoga stretching, well this is the first video I tried. And I have NOT had any pain for four days!!!!!! I am absolutely jumping for joy!! Trying to keep it short, I did change my diet a bit, but must give your video credit. Thanks, I am watching and doing more videos and even sharing.

    Can’t even get close to shoelace legs, is there a simpler option?

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  9 месяцев назад +1

      Great question! A half shoelace is a nice option for many people, where the bottom leg stays straight. It's perfectly fine if the top knee is hovering, or you can even place a cushion in between the knees. All we really care about is feeling a nice stretch in the outer hip and glute, so as long as you feel that you're doing it right!

    Namaste ;) Would you kindly make a video for a glute sequence for elderly people? Maybe sitting on a chair? I wish my mom practiced your exercises but she has difficulty getting on the floor. Thank you so much for all that you do. I visit your channel daily and feel the difference. I am grateful for you.

    This is such a great combination for glute exercises and stretches. It's strenuous but those stretches offer a nice break. I think with this combination I will really establish the brain and booty connection and will, for once in my life, be able to successfully build my bootay. Joelle, would this be ok to do every other day interchangeably with your anterior pelvic tilt video? For example, Monday: Glutes, Tuesday: Anterior Pelvic Tilt? Thanks so much your videos are an incredible resource for anyone looking to address a variety of issues. After years at a desk job, I have poor posture, weak glutes and an anterior pelvic tilt. Upon my 40th birthday I became extra motivated to keep my body fit and in shape for years to come. With your short but powerful videos I can establish a better fitness routine and I cannot thank you enough.

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  Год назад +1

      Glad you enjoy this one! Mixing it up with the anterior pelvic tilt practice is a great idea, and I'm so glad this is helping you with your wonderful goal of staying fit and healthy! I think 10-15 minutes a day is a terrific way to start and over time as we become more familiar with certain stretches and exercises, we typically get a better understanding of what is most helpful to us. In the meantime, feel free to play around with other videos that catch your eye, too!
