This exactly! I used to instruct yoga, and never understood why more instructors didn't use this variation when seeing students struggle. It's all about where you're feeling it.
Most yoga instructors in general are not that great imo: introducing advanced concepts in free classes, encouraging aerobics over form, centering the ego. I agree that it would be amazing if they started to care about the abilities of the general population attending.
Oh, thank you!!!!! This pigeon pose used to be so so easy for me but after almost 4 years being completely sedentary, it is now a nightmare. My leg cannot do the 90º angle, my knees scream for mercy and so on. Problem is, I spend a lot of hours sitting and I do need to regain my hip mobility (asap), since it is hindering many other stuff. This is life saving. Thank you so so much!!
Omg I could cry, I've been limiting myself to very light yoga for the past 2 weeks because after just 1 month of daily yoga my knees were in so much pain. I never knew this modification existed and I just tried it and finally - FINALLY - I can get a really juicy stretch in my hips without aggravating my shit knees. Thank you so much!
Thank you. I had ACL surgery and pigeon pose has always messed with my knee. I tried this and finally feel a good stretch when bending over my foot that way, without my knee screaming!

I tried to sign up for the free 14 days trial, still asked me to put credit card information. I’m trying to see if it a good program for me or not, without being charged. Just didn’t feel like putting my cc and it wouldn’t let me do my 14 days free without it.
You have to register for an account with your payment details but there’s no charge until the 14 days have passed so cancel anytime before then for it to be completely free 👍🏼
I discovered this stretch after a shattered patella injury. My hip began to get very tight, and my PT recommended this stretch bc I couldn't do pigeon pose. I like it much better than pigeon!
Gosh dang- thank you! I've always had that discomfort in my knee trying to do pigeon pose and other similar stretches- but you're the first person I've ever heard mention that!
Thank you! It is amazing how long I have been stretching and could not figure out why, is was still not seeing any less strain. Already feel a huge difference! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Holy crap !!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! I like to think I know a lot of poses for releases, my back has been killing me and the stretch is intense. Thank you.
Is there anyway we can get the free 14 days trial without putting credit card information ? I’m trying to see if the program is a good fit for me without being charged.
Remember when they made us sit cross legged on the floor at primary school? I couldn't do it because my right hip has ALWAYS been tight. I'm 61 now and STILL have to hold up my right knee when I sit on the floor. Gonna give this stretch a try.
I've always wondered why I can't seem to do the pigeon pose when instructors seem to love it. Now I know I'm not the only one, and I'll certainly try this variation next time!!
Very interesting. Not many people do these moves. And it’s really the source of everything. Standing. Sitting at work. Thighs in general take the brunt of it all.
Thank you so much! My right hip has just not been moving and pidgeon pose is essentially worse than papercutting the webs of my fingers and bathing them in vinegar !
How can I take advantage of your hip mobility challenge that you are offering for free this weekend? I would love to take advantage of it as I know it will be very helpful. Thank you so much!
Just some extra info: stretching doesn't increase mobility necessarily, it increases flexibility. Stretching works temporarily. To gain mobility you need to move to and from a position of both flexion and stretch.
@livinleggings can you please do a video on the best way to do elephant walks if you have time? I love your videos and find your explain stuff in the best, clearest and most concise way? Matt thanks
This would explain why I've been begging my boyfriend so often to push my knees flat while I'm laying down with my feet together, it's stretching that muscle and it feels soo good. I have to pivot a lot at work and walk back and forth and that one muscle gets super tight
Gym friends please take your joints tendons and flexibility just as serious as ur weight loss of muscle building goals in sitting here with a torn tendon in my shoulder possibly both side and I think it could of been prevented thru mobility Exercises proper warm ups and stretching

Exactly in king pigeon or mermaid, it's such a dangerous mobility task on the knee.
Most yoga instructors in general are not that great imo: introducing advanced concepts in free classes, encouraging aerobics over form, centering the ego. I agree that it would be amazing if they started to care about the abilities of the general population attending.
I literally just did yoga a few hours ago and I was having issues with my right knee for this exact reason. Thank you SO much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are such a concise and articulate teacher!
Couldn’t have said it any better
My thoughts exactly!

I don't struggle to keep my Pigeon Pose but this variation might help me stretch better! I'll try it, thanks for sharing.

That accent and friendly voice exclaims that you're a beautiful soul.
Agree
I just did it. It feels great I just got finished playing some footy ⚽. Thank you

Ty for actually helping those who are inflexible, like me.
You beautiful, beautiful, genius of a woman! I'm seeing this for the first time and you'll likely never know how big this is for me but THANK YOU!
This video just made it clear that my problem is actually internal rotation.
Sign me up please
Omg! Love u for this this tip! I’ve been trying for years to do a perfect pigeon with no results.
Holy crap !!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! I like to think I know a lot of poses for releases, my back has been killing me and the stretch is intense. Thank you.
Wow thank you so much liv! I have recently been thinking about this exact thought 🙏
Spicy stretch, indeed! Comes with spicy language!! Lovely video, professionally composed and edited.
omg THANK YOU. u do not know how much u just helped me 😫

Love that! Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Thank you. This was really helpful. I have been attempting pigeon with the exact problem. Now I can possibly get there someday.
This mod helped me so much. Pigeon usually wrecks me more than it helps because it demands so much prerequisite flexibility/mobility.
Thank you!!! I'm totally following you now!
I love your teaching , so relaxing voice
Hi liv I can’t find the link!
You are seriously excellent dear
I do believe that if you increase your angle by doing this on a bed or a bench it can also help but I like this advice!
Just the variation to pigeon that I needed - thanks!
Remember when they made us sit cross legged on the floor at primary school? I couldn't do it because my right hip has ALWAYS been tight. I'm 61 now and STILL have to hold up my right knee when I sit on the floor. Gonna give this stretch a try.
This is EXACTLY what I need rn! 🙌

- I’d be happy with just sane hip mobility.

That is true!! I fucked up my knee external ligament by doing the piggeon stretching the wrong way for years. No one explains you this

It's called the 90 90 stretch. Been around forever.
What do you recommend for stronger bones 🦴? Thanks 🙏
@@antoniovasquez5587 Lifting heavy weights has been shown to increase bone density. Stick to compound lifts.
Please help me fix my lack of internal hip rotation.
I do not find the link to your mobility challenge.
