they`re not stoned, they`re not drunk, they aren`t taking a piss, just not given the press the answers they expected, it`s the same with the strokes these days or any other band, journalists hate bands and no one talks about that
I must make a point of watching this daily.. So legendary!! "how happy would you be if people didn't know about you?" Possibly the worst question since the dawn of time
Shut up moaning about the attitude they had towards the interview. They're the stone roses ffs. How boring would a formal interview be if they're acting like a couple of squares with no charisma? Too many people lack originality these days, which is why I admire these guys and other bands from the 50's - 90's. Rock music has well and truly died. No band these days is powerful to influence a generation. Oasis were the last band to do that in my opinion. Ian Brown and John Squire; more character and charisma in their little toes than the whole of the music industry of today put together.
James Watchorn : Well, in my estimation Oasis used popular British cultural elements and exploited it to their advantage and rode the whole Brit Pop media propaganda to stardom. I don't really think that Oasis were as transcending as bands that came before although they did make some memorable tunes, which are now classics. Think about it. A band that can make some standout tunes like 'What's the Story Morning Glory' or 'Acquiesce' and then produce meaningless pop rubbish like 'Roll With It,' or employing idiotic metaphors in songs like 'Champagne Supernova,' is not what I consider to be the work of one of the great bands in the full gamut of British Rock music.
@@Lunatic4Bizcas Oasis played the part, the Stone Roses were the part, a massive difference, the difference in the lyrics is the biggest give away, Noel got away with absolutely none sense but the Stone Roses wrote real songs about real things, Oasis was just a formula.
It doesn't seem like they are trying to appear deep at all. It just seems like they can't be arsed to do an interview so they are pissing about a bit, the interviewer is the one trying to come off as deep Ian and John are just having a laugh.
DUDE this is long before people signed off on questions and shit. this is truly organic - some were shit questions some they answered like sublime genius , others they didnt answer well. just enjoy it ffs
What a presumptuous picture she had painted of them and their feelings - see how they didn't know how to answer her questions - they had never given any thought towards the shit she asked about at all!!
What an opportunity to ask two musical hero's about their views on the development of music, their hopes for attaining their quality, do they feel drugs are integral to the highest quality music production etc etc etc, and she just took it personally because they weren't in the right place to answer negative questions (pretty stoned it's clear to see). What a doughnut...
Typical sensationalist journalism. The interviewer was obviously trying to work an angle but Ian and John didn't take the bait! I don't think they look stoned, just disinterested in the passive game she's playing.
Rock stars are so pretentious😂😂 They were young I suppose. The interviewer also really needed to ask open ended questions where a yes/no answer is not possible.
They're not trying to be deep or trying to contrive any front, they are literally taking the piss. At least Brown comes off as drily amusing. Squire just makes a prick of himself.
Lighting very bad not a comfortable setting Very off putting for the lads vibe seems like a intergation rather than an interview. Still my favourite handoff all time
They come across as fairly normal here. Brownie wasn't such an idiot then. Massive shame. Gutted. Even Ryder comes across as more sensible these days, which I never thought I would see.
This chick is the WORST interviewer of all humanity!! But I love her accent...these guys are awesome and show alot of restraint....wish the Gallagher Brothers were there too
Weird negative interview questions. Shed have made a better copper than band interviewer ! And so she gets bland uncommitted answers unsurprising. Well done them for not getting pissed off I would have done.
Not doing it for the money = great bands, with heart, soul and most of all song's! Modern music ind=only in it for the money = pretty pop stars with soulless songs, complete and utter shite!
Stupid and banal questions. Interviewer was poor “do you think you’re talented?” It was like a school child. No attempt to create a rapport or get them talking in a two way chat. Just firing a series of banal questions. That said the Roses were carefully creating an image and enigma and wanted to be and were very cool.
Cool is such a cringe word......but they really were..... it's also terrible to say they don't make them like that anymore - but they really don't...... there is a magic about the Roses....it seems like they KNEW they were sitting on a stone cold classic.... and they just didn't give a sh*t - here they have no money, and are not established at all - but they just will not play the game.
Brownie totally bamboozled by the question what do you most fear happening to the band 😂 he knows they are great there just about to release the greatest debut album of all time. He will love the comment in comments he looks like Bruce Lee he’s us idol. Don’t look feel
A common, working class band trying desperately hard to come across as deep and mysterious with their vague, disinterested answers, lol. Each to their own I guess.
And the desperate, working class band produced an album that still stands the highest in the bastardised music industry to this day. They wear your hatred like a medal, and your lack of foresight vindicates our faith. One Love to you, and One Love to that common, working class lad who climbed that stage and took it to the very limits of possibility, a man who made it because of his onstage shortcomings, and not despite them. That's true heart and soul for you, that is true inspiration, the kind we feed on twenty years later to make it through the week.
"Hopefully people will form groups as a result of seeing us"... Looks like Ian predicted Oasis!... Top man!
A trick: watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Muhammad Brantley definitely, I've been using flixzone for since december myself =)
Ian Brown melts me with his smile .....then and now!!
Influenced by the 60s, it keeps me awake at night.
he is so cute with those cheekbones
And the dimples!
It takes time for people to fall in love with you, but it's inevitable, best quote ever made
they`re not stoned, they`re not drunk, they aren`t taking a piss, just not given the press the answers they expected, it`s the same with the strokes these days or any other band, journalists hate bands and no one talks about that
Mate u really think they aren’t off their head?
It takes time for people to get acquainted.
Takes time for people to fall in love with you, but it's inevitable.
7:45
one of greatest interviews ever
I must make a point of watching this daily.. So legendary!!
"how happy would you be if people didn't know about you?" Possibly the worst question since the dawn of time
They are music legends and always will be
Where have all these young wise people gone?
Ian and John think similarly. That's why The Stone Roses were a success. You can just see the kind of understanding they have.
I fucking love this - whatever happened after, they were totally together at this point
the stoned roses
'guitar foreplay' hahahaha ian Brown you lad
"sex or watching John have sex" hahaha
I love the way that they answer the questions .

I'd say the Libertines were the last rock band.

'if you are the best band in the world then how come you are not number 1?' 'because the records not out yet!' hahaha
John?
Ian.
2:52
They got funnier as it went on. PMSL at "clothes... once a day" mainly due to the delivery. Ace.
It doesn't seem like they are trying to appear deep at all. It just seems like they can't be arsed to do an interview so they are pissing about a bit, the interviewer is the one trying to come off as deep Ian and John are just having a laugh.
+felix knott that's why the media hated them back then. They never wanted to promote themselves and often blanked interviewers.
Who signed off on these questions!? They're so silly. What kind of response did they expect!?
I think theyre pretty different, interesting questions really...what else could she ask?
DUDE this is long before people signed off on questions and shit. this is truly organic - some were shit questions some they answered like sublime genius , others they didnt answer well. just enjoy it ffs
Yeah, they're mostly closed questions, encouraging yes/no answers. Do you think this, have you got any of these?........yes, no
Do you think your superior to people? - instantly - yes!. love that.
what time ?
Alfredo Vasquez 8:14
What a presumptuous picture she had painted of them and their feelings - see how they didn't know how to answer her questions - they had never given any thought towards the shit she asked about at all!!
Charismatic!
3:18 who painted that mug cup?! it's adorable
I’d love to see fan fiction for these two
What an opportunity to ask two musical hero's about their views on the development of music, their hopes for attaining their quality, do they feel drugs are integral to the highest quality music production etc etc etc, and she just took it personally because they weren't in the right place to answer negative questions (pretty stoned it's clear to see). What a doughnut...
Ian's face around 4:55 "WTF I'm sure I didn't take any drugs today"
Son hermosos!
Great questions!
John humming shoot you down at the start
thought brown was Warrington chap 16 miles from longsight mcr?
but it is inevitable
"second page" she actually planned these questions?! Shit on a stick!
Ian Brown looks like Bruce lee
Brilliant
Some say, Ian is a 3rd gen grey alien hybrid...
10:00 My God, they are so real.
and the interveiwer was really abrupt
Some terrible questions. Really insulting. “Do you think you are superior to people?” What kind of question is that.
Eeyore on a Wet Afternoon interviewer from hell
Really weird interview. It's like she's just trying to antagonize them from the start and asking loads of negative questions.
Is that Caitlin Moran, the interviewer? NOT her finest hour (or 16 minutes and 20 seconds).
100% stoned
Who is the interviewer? Shocking!!
Cool dudes
Lean as a bean
Hate to be the bottom button on Ian's polo
If they are dressed well I'm a bit disappointed, if they're a clown am not bothered. Classic response
Typical sensationalist journalism. The interviewer was obviously trying to work an angle but Ian and John didn't take the bait! I don't think they look stoned, just disinterested in the passive game she's playing.
They're so high ahha
Rock stars are so pretentious😂😂 They were young I suppose. The interviewer also really needed to ask open ended questions where a yes/no answer is not possible.
must have been hotknifeing before this interrveiw....
They're not trying to be deep or trying to contrive any front, they are literally taking the piss. At least Brown comes off as drily amusing. Squire just makes a prick of himself.
+Oisin McManus nah there just giving an honest interview, none of questions contrived any decent anwsers
Brown himself admitted in subsequent years that he completely took the piss in his early interviews
8:00
So hard to watch!!
Lighting very bad not a comfortable setting
Very off putting for the lads vibe seems like a intergation rather than an interview.

Weird negative interview questions. Shed have made a better copper than band interviewer ! And so she gets bland uncommitted answers unsurprising. Well done them for not getting pissed off I would have done.

Painful!

they actually used very few words….
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Boring questions
lots of akward scilences
Awkward...
There's a lot of trying to appear cool here.
A common, working class band trying desperately hard to come across as deep and mysterious with their vague, disinterested answers, lol. Each to their own I guess.
