  • Arrowhead is reverting the patrol spawn changes, and 10+ difficulty was just teased?!
    Here's the latest in Helldivers 2 News!
    What a wild day for Helldivers Update! We have failed the current Major Order, but just receive a new transmission from Helldiver HQ. Everything we have done up to this point has now prepared us for the Second Gallactic War. At this moment, we are now taking on both the Terminids and the Automatons during the same Major Order!
    Arrowhead has announced that they are reversing the Patrol Spawn Update to its original state, with some small tweaks, and this is awesome news.
    And finally, did we just see Difficulty 10+ teased in a dev response?

    My issue with the spawns isn't the new rate. It's the fact that they spawn right on top of you, or aggro you from the other side of the map. I have literally watched a charger from a patrol come on the map and instantly begin charging at a teammate several hundred meters away at another objective.

      Edit: Yea no. Patrols are bugged. Was all stealthy on an outpost. Looked around on map, no enemies behind me. Threw one 500kg. Looked behind me. Boom, 3 walkers and a bunch of smaller bots looking at me. Had scout armor on as well…

      I have a couple of problems with patrol spawns.
      It does not seem their spawn locations are all that random, seemingly with some player/squad proximity trigger. Related to that, the spawner seems to get stuck, I cannot tell you how many times we have been trying to clear to, or away, from an objective, and just have another patrol spawn the instant that we clear the initial wave.
      Related, why does the spawn rate of patrols seem to go up significantly when the primary map objective is completed? Why does the spawn rate not go down as you clear bases/nests and other objectives on the map?

      @Scarpheon how about this one.... I was in an open area, quick look around and see nothing near me. I run up to a nearby base and toss a stratagem into it. I turn around to run back to cover, and run face first into a hulk standing right behind me.

      I've had that but with a side of 5-8 heavy and rocket devastators, so I either get shot to death, exploded and stunlocked by ragdoll, burned to death, or all three. I've had 2 more sets spawn in front and behind if I survive. Really feels like the spawn rates are wacky, like they're coming out of a clown car than a natural patrol.

    For all players who don't ever play Helldivers 1, The max difficulty is 15, and the devs said that everything present in the first game will be added to Helldivers 2

      We are not ready for the inner circle of hell which was the HIGHEST difficulty in the game.
      In short we need those new weapons and stratagems…godforbid we get them when the Illuminate come back.

      ​@@simonbizet7539The automatons did technically replace the cyborgs, but if they're adding more difficulties, they're going to need to add new unit types to be able to help saturate these higher difficulties with more diversity and more complexity than the lower difficulties. Given that before cyberstan was retaken by the bots, everyone knows that cyborgs were still alive and well and were being used as essentially slaves on their own homeworld. Now that the bots have reclaimed their homeworld, it's possible that we might eventually see some cyborg units appear on the battlefield alongside the automaton units as a new troop variation. Kind of like how on the bug front you have many different types of the same bug that each function a little bit differently. Whether they're tankier, they have a different attack type, they're faster or slower, the possibilities are endless with the cyborgs. We'll just have to wait and see what the developers decide to do now that they have a new hypothetical factions worth of troops that they're allowed to add to the game at any time.

    The Eruptor was nerfed for two, stated, reasons. The exploit to kill a Charger in one shot, note this is apparently an issue with the Charger's back legs as its possible to kill one in a single magazine of the Pummeler if shooting the right spot. And the fact after they "fixed" the ricochets on weapons, teamkilling incidents as well as self-kills went up.
    So rather than fixing the Charger and doing something about shrapnel ricocheting, they took away the one unique thing the gun had.

      @@shippy1001 Indeed. Railgun getting nerf due to a crossplay bug they didn't fix for months. Slugger getting nerfed for being too good of a marksman rifle than the actual marksman rifle, only for it to still be a good sniper but a worse shotgun due to reduced stagger. Not buffing the Tenderizer and Purifier before the War Bond came out to be more inline with previous balance changes. The Liberator got buffed to where the Tenderizer is at which is why the Tenderizer is now simply a side grade.

      @@nunyabusin I have a buddy who loved the Eruptor. He killed himself twice with shrapnel ritochet on targets under 50 meters but over 20. The nerf made him sad despite that issue. And this isn't me going off his word alone, I was playing with him when it happened.

      They should add balance everyweek but for 2 weapons and not 20 every month. There is way to many things that can go wrong when implementing big balancing updates.

      I think there should be ammo types like shrapnel as an ammo type for specific weapons but with ammo types need to have some sort of draw back to it, such as a lower ammo count or less mags etc. having specific guns that don’t do good damage with med armour piercing is useless imo and not fun to play with, having a choice in the matter I think is good.

    Just going to drop this here as some help for Helldivers. For the missions where you have to evacuate people from the planet in under 15 minutes, always bring a smoke stratagem. It makes the mission super easy if you throw an eagle 1 smoke run down the path that the people are running through. I used to rarely beat this mission with good comms with my most trusted squadmates, but now that I've begun bringing smoke stratagems I have been able to consistently complete this mission on solo helldives with ample time and reinforcments leftover. The smokes will make the evacuees practically invisible even if the enemies are two feet from them as long as you are being a loud enough target

      I only had problems with that mission, if my teammates or i am lagging. I use friking flamethrower for tier 9 evac against bugs and still almost never killed any citizens

      Make sure only one person is in the base and everyone is outside to cause most of the spawns to go outside where the players are.

    Im glad they're undoing the patrol thing because that basically made me quit playing cause i was so tired of having to kite 30 bugs just to deal with a single nest cause im just getting hit by patrol after patrol

      Yeah, exactly. The people who say there's nothing wrong with the spawns are either new players or are not perceptive.
      My previous comment to someone when he said there was nothing wrong:
      Then you are either new/you really have not played all that much/aren't very perceptive. Nor do you keep track of Reddit, ever since the spawn changes patrols are EXTREMELY RANDOMIZED, sometimes a 9 feels like a 6 and a 6 like a 9. We've had a 5 where there were too many Tanks and Hulks to count. They bugged it, as I almost immediately noticed when they made the change, it was not simply 'just a few more' it was a LOT more - in most cases, and also extremely random.

      bull shit, the game has not only become more balanced from month to month, weapons have had buff after buff after buff and enemies have been nerf again and again. There are far more not just viable guns in the game, but strong guns that have different play styles. people are bitching just to bitch. heaven forbid not being able 1 shot bile titans and only having 3 rounds left over when you solo kill a charger from behind i with a shot based crowd control auto shotgun that has super high alpha damage and some of the highest dps in the game.....AH has been very responsive to players feedback and have basically given you what you want time and time again and you still bitch. When the next new shinny things starts trending on tiktok and 3/4 of the complainers leave and they can stop watering down the experience the game will be better off for it. Have they made some mis-steps or been harsh at times, sure... but month to month to month the game is in a better state than its been each time. Now you can take a whole bunch of different load outs and don't see everyone running the same thing for every mission. there is variety in both gear and tactics

    Helldivers being the greatest game Sony has, and they nearly killed it. They fell short of their money projections contrary to Helldivers' success. I feel like the corporate lords don't realize how well they are doing just because they didn't see the big number they wanted to see. All they need to do is start merchandising.

      I'll never understand how people don't learn to take frequent breaks and play other games to avoid getting burnt out it literally happens with every game you play, I've had the game since release and played it regularly but I'm still only level 55 haven't gotten the last 2 warbonds nor have I unlocked all the ship upgrades. People no life the game and end up surprised why it doesn't hit the same after their 300th mission, personally my hands and fingers start hurting after completing 3 or 4 missions in a row

      I'm level 85 and honestly the gameplay just got boring. I always play on 7 difficulty or higher and often Helldive. The gameplay gets boring because you have to run the same stratagems and load-out if you want to have a chance and not just die all the time. Also collecting medals and samples when you can't use them and are full just becomes pointless. The missions get so over played too. How many times can you launch an icbm before it's just not cool anymore? If they would focus on new missions and actually having warbonds come out with fun material to use than it might keep us engaged. 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards is what Arrowhead is doing when patching and nerfing everything. Patch one thing, a new thing comes out and breaks two things. This is the recipe to lose hundreds of thousands of players. Congrats on ruining a good game in 3 months.

    It's not the spawn rate. The bigger problem is how accurate the enemies are. Spewer's curving spit, Charger's drifting towards you, Heavy Devastator's nonstop bullets that headshot you even if you peeked for 1 sec.

      What gets me the most is being shot through rocks and dead enemies. The amount of times I've tried to return fire only for it to hit the dead enemy, or rock, while the enemy shooting happily negates both and keeps nibbling at my HP.

    Enemy detection is broken atm too. More noticeable with the bots as they immediatly starts shooting at you from the other side of the map. Bugs just run towards you? You dont notice it until you suddenly get swarmed from 3 directions with patrols. Throwing stratagems intantly alerts them, which makes stealth really bad when you try to take out nests or do objectives.

      Yup. only the 500kg should alert half the map. everything else should be localized. and the MOMENT nothing has you in DIRECT LOS they should be required to search for you like they used to. Throwing a grenade and going the other way used to be viable strategy...it hasn't been for awhile.

    I'm just glad I wasn't hallucinating. 4 diver mission on Extreme had less bot spawns than a 2 diver mission on medium. It felt like the bots thought I was John Connor.

    Here is a rule of thumb to adopt. Its fun to shoot, don't remove the ability to do so. I would rather have all the weapons get a 100% damage buff, and there be 100% more enemies.

      ammo was actually buffed overall, you get 2x per supply pack compared to before and there is tons and tons of ammo all over the map, but lets read one line in patch notes and completely ignore the rest of it to fit a false narrative. Woo woooooo all about the hate train lets find lets find something else to complain about when they are doing buff after buff to weapons and nerf after nerf to enemies, im sorry you cant 1 shot a titan anymore and only have 3 rounds left in magazine after solo killing charger from behind with a shot based crowd control auto shotgun that has super high alpha damage, good handling, and some of the highest dps in the game

Primary weapons are not supposed to be used exclusively, support weapons and stratagems are there to deal with enemies or situations that are disadvantageous to you're primary weapon/grenade choice. Its like saying the stun grenade sucks because it doesn't close bug holes, the jar-5 dominator sucks because it would be awkward to kill shreakers, the sickle doesn't have the stagger to keep brood commanders from closing distance, or EATs don't have enough rounds to deal with trash mobs; everything has a purpose, learning how to make an overall load out that accentuates strengths and masks weaknesses is part of learning the games mechanics

      @@Voidhunter799 I mean, I play 7+ and I clear MOST missions I play. My complaints largely are that all the weapons feel anaemic as hell compared to what we’re supposed to be fighting.
      Heavy armour on high difficulties is effectively useless since the META is speed and mobility - strike the target, complete objective as quickly as possible, grab what samples you can on the way out, and move to the next objective IGNORING as many enemies as you physically can while remaining alive.
      Giving people stronger weapons makes it so more than just running for the hills with the reinforce and eagle air strike stratagems committed to a core memory slot are viable strategies.

    Game balancing is something that a lot of studios can have trouble with. It also gets more and more difficult as more stuff is added to the game. It’s important to remember that ArrowHead’s decisions are to try and improve the players experience.
    I think what you’ve said is a great idea. Some studios handle this is by having test servers, where players can try changes and give feedback. I think test “planets” would be a MASSIVE improvement to the process and big step in the right direction for the game.

    For those who don’t know a lil history lesson on the evolution of the term “1337”. I seen WAY too many Comments on asking whats with the random 1337 number. It originated from PC like most gamer Terms I.e. ( Keks, GG ) etc. It was a popular term for an elite FPS player in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I seen it evolve in the OG Counter Strike community. As well among other games during that era.
    ELITE players -> LEET players -> L33T Players -> 1337 Players.

    In my humble and ignorant opinion: if you want to be able to meet the expectations of both stealth and battle divers. Then, have an inactive state when you first drop for enemies. Unless they have a reason to look, then patrols go between POIs, enemies aren't looking for you so the density of enemies should be low and patrols should be thin. Objectives that make a lot of noise but don't require big fights will raise the alert but not just dump enemies on you. Unless you get in big fights, use obvious stratagems, blow up stuff, or do something pretty obvious then you can stealtht the mission. But if you do then give the fight people want. Have a ramping threat where the more you fight, the more they send. Stealth oopsies will have them actively looking but you can still run and have a harder but possible stealth. But Rambos get the horde, clearing bases make reinforcements and patrols spawn further out and with more time in between. Extract can be like the big battle where a bunch of enemies spawn depending on how much you clear for how far out and advance.
    Stealth divers get to feel like super spies and play smart. Maybe add recon objectives that can only be completed while the alert is low to balance out the exp. Have stealth objective types.
    Battle divers get their "wipe them out" and are rewarded for it with the game chilling out and a hopefully fun send-off for all the explosions and glory at the end.
    Doesn't really matter, what I want is them to EMBRACE the fun and playstyles people find. I would LOVE stealth focused recon mission types on planets. Drop on planets next on the supply line we don't have yet and set up spy equipment or sabotage targets, if enough ops succeed then it will reduce or even remove some negative modifiers?

      This may cause payday2 issue of loud/stealth. Granted they made it so the server browser showed which lobby is which. HD2 only seems to have random join, which also seems to fuck up difficulty. I chose 8 and after hotjoining landed on 5, seems like recent issue.

      I think the most effective is the commando style. You kinda sneak up to the strategic points, throw in the stratagems and while wevrythibg blows up you go in loud and hard. 30 seconds a base at max. It keeps you at good pace patrols can't find you. If you overdo the stealth or the fighting you will have lack of time.
      And the difficulty is low. After this spawn patch it became okayish. Before the patch we easily duoed Helldive. With a team of 4 we went full retard and still completed the map easily. After the patch there were challenge sometimes.

      Thats a great idea honestly, but ngl in rather set im my ways and will do stealth long enough to ensure a good pounce with destruction following. If there was any dedicated stealth missions i would both not play them whatsoever and would immediately leave if i joined one. Stealth while incredibly important and fun to some, instantly kills my fun. Like flat out. Its like starting up payday 2 to go loud and make some noise, but the games you happen to join are all stealths, or rather stealth builds on a either way mission, helldives is in that niche area and id love for it to stay as HELLdivers and not Hell Gear Solid 5 sneaking around all the time maybe. Just my humble nonimportant ramblings and opinion.
      But weve all seen that one marksman of 9 who just sits back (and doesnt die) but also doesnt get any kills or objectives, theyre just.. there, like woo im happy you just killed that rocket devastator from 200m away but can you look a little left and help with the swaths of devastators and walking fabs

    I've also noticed as of the last patch, there is a serious issue with the impact incendiary - if I do not have a shield on, regardless of how far away I throw it, I am taking fire damage from it ever since tuesdays update. Had to stop using it completely unless I am wearing the shield generator, which has now had a major impact on my loadouts for different missions.

The way they're balancing weapons is idiotic and flawed. Nerfing a weapon because people are using it more because it performs better than all the other low performances weapons and continuously doing the same nerfing strategy instead of looking at the big picture of why people are not picking other weapons. It's the same with strat weapons as well. What's worse is that the devs haven't even bothered to listen to it's playerbase till now because the CEO is involved now.     I think this may be a bit of a hot take, but:
    I believe that sinking feeling of realizing you're not a badass Rambo squad _is_ the feeling that Arrowhead is going for. Basically, every planet is supposed to feel like the Klendathu drop at the beginning of Starship Troopers (especially apt on bug planets). You're supposed to go in cocksure, ready to take on the whole planet singlehandedly; you're a Helldiver, the mightiest, the greatest, *THE* Defenders of Managed Democracy! Then you realize that the enemy is way tougher than you were lead to believe, this isn't just a milk run of service that guarantees citizenship.
    The current major order is the establishment of more training bases for the SEAF 72 hour boot camp. Considering the training you play through takes 30 minutes (most likely way less, but for the benefit of the doubt), so what is that 71 1/2 remaining hours spent on? Signing forms? Uniform fitting? When your fresh destroyer pulls up to the frontlines from Super Earth, your collection of meatsicles are handed a basic rifle, pistol, a couple grenades, and some very basic stratagems deployed from your ship and told to free the planet in the name of Democracy. They drop only 4 of you at a time, with the full expectation of multiple deaths lining up to 20 additional Divers for the mission, indicated by the surprised voicelines when you come back from a mission with no/few friendly fire deaths or deaths in general. You have to requisition all of the fancy equipment and upgrades to your destroyer by proving that the contents of your box of Diver Pops are lucky and/or skilled enough to warrant the extra expenditure. If you were really the super elite warriors they psych you up to be, wouldn't you already be given access to this equipment, and wouldn't they just drop all 24 Divers at once? The answer is because you're just meant to be warm bodies on the ground to hook up the fuel lines, press the launch button on the missiles, getting the actually valuable Class-A citizens off planet, and guiding the actual heavy lifters of the operations, the ship bound ordinances, and you are fully expected to give your life for these objectives. (I've only played a few bot missions, I know it's a much different experience and I'm trying to unlock more options, so basically all my examples are bug related but I'm sure there's applicable bot reasons there too.)
    Now I know that a lot of this comes down to technical and gameplay reasons, but considering the satirical and goofy nature of some of the things in game are played straight in universe, I don't think I'm make any (big) leaps of logic here. Looked at this way, General Brasch isn't just some dumb, lucky Diver who stumbled his way into the rank by sheer chance. He actually _is_ one of the best Divers and earned his rank, probably because of his dumb luck. Though speaking or technical/gameplay reason for 4 man squads, I would love to see like "mega-missions" or something of the sort, where you have 2-3, maybe even 4 if you're feeling saucy, squads landing on different quadrants of a Mega Factory or Ultra Nest, where the different squads work through sub-objectives all making their way to the heart or core. Each squad that successfully makes it through makes it easier to take out the core by reducing the amount of objectives needed to take it out or the amount of enemy forces present. Pipe dream, but man it would be sick.
    Also, for any Democracy Officers reading this; I recognize my words are filled with traitorous lies against Super Earth, and I will be remanding myself into the custody of the Department for Rehabilitation and Enhanced Acceptance of Democracy (get it? 'cause you'll DREAD having not accepted Democracy into your heart before your visit? eh? eh?) effective immediately. My body for Super Earth!

    I mean it was quite the noticeable shift with the patrol spawns... Helldive vs automatons felt pretty good before, and then they changed it to be just insane. At times you would have one or two striders, 5 hulks, 16 chasing you and yet somehow every direction you turn to there's yet another two patrols haha

    I love the idea for planet modifiers.
    The damage buff both to helldivers and against them is a lot more unique than most of what we have. And could lead to things being a lot more chaotic or manageable on top of testing the what-ifs of weapons. It's not just simply a negative it's a neat twist. But it also allows players to experiment.
    I imagine other chaotic hazards could be quite fun too.
    Low gravity with crazy bullet impulse, gaseous atmospheres with incendiary bullets and exploding bugs.

    I don't mind the spawns. I like things being hard and beating the odds in the end. But not at the cost of fun/weapons nerfing.

    I wish light, medium, and heavy body armor were all just for cosmetic purposes and then you could choose your perk depending on the weight (light, medium, heavy). Otherwise, I will be using the same medic skin till the end of time and I will not bother using anything else.
    Also, having the option to change the color of armor could be cool... not to any color that we want though, just to some basic color samples that we could change so that we can mix and match body and head armor pieces easier.

      Honestly, I'm not entirely sold on a full transmog system (in wanting or needing for HD2, I like transmog systems in general though), as I do like being able to glance at people's armor and have a rough idea of what they're gearing up for so I can try to fill in the gaps stratagem wise. Honestly, I wish we could see the squads equipment loadout as well so I could note what role their primaries are filling. Back to the cosmetics, however, I would mainly love to see a "Sync to Amor Palette" option when equipping capes and helmets. That way, when I spend the medals on that cool new armor piece (but don't have the medals for the helmet & cape and don't want to wait to almost double my medals before using it to match) I don't look like a rainbow barfed on me with my white and green armor, black and orange cape, and black and yellow helmet.
      A good example, I bought the medium-light armor from page 2 of Democratic Demolition warbond (C-07 or 37 Demolition Specialist, something like that), the black and red one with the grenade bandoliers on the chestplate. I didn't have the medals for the helmet or cape, so I used the Tideturner cape and the associated helmet from the first few pages of the initial warbond, the orange grenade bonus set. In the dim, harsh yellow lighting of the destroyer and the nighttime mission I did it looked close enough, then did a daytime mission and oh boy could you tell they didn't go together. The only mercy being that after being caked in bug/human blood and guts it's hard to tell what the armor looks like underneath. A "Sync to Armor Palette" option to turn that orange to a matching red would've done quite a lot to tie the uniform together. If they do add customizable color palettes, I'd like to stick with the themed color palettes we already have, with just the ability to make things mesh better. We're part of the SEAF with a uniform, not a rough bunch of strangers given magic powers by mystical drones and looking like they fell out of a technicolor dreamscape like Destiny. That said, I do like the transmog in Destiny, just don't think it really fits here.
      Just thought of a nice option for choosing your perk on armor option; I don't know how feasible it would be to add but making a "modular" set, in the 3 weight categories, a fancier looking version of the standard Helldiver gear that when you equip it would let you choose its perk add some little bits and bobs to it (stim packs, grenade/ammo pouches, etc.) depending on perk choice. Limit it to the more "standard" amor perks, so no 50% to not die or arc resistance or other warbond armor specific perks (though maybe unlocking those options once you own at least one armor with that perk wouldn't be too bad, just want to avoid people not needing to unlock a warbond and its armor if you can just get it from the modular armor instead). Maybe with the choice to change color scheme based on perk choice too.

    "Powerful = fun" very true.
    A thing i heard a long time ago, i dont remember who said it. But it was basically.
    Giving the players something they feel like they shouldnt have is one of the best ways to ensure theyre having fun.
    People absolutely LOVE to feel like "wow this is insane". The feeling of "this is for SURE getting nerfed" but it DOESNT get nerfed because its working 100% as intended is amazing.
    unfortunately arrowhead has fostered the feeling of "this is for sure getting nerfed" in the worst way possible.
    I have never used, seen, or experienced something in helldivers 2 that i think could reasonably be called "overpowered" that wasnt a bug/glitch.
    and the fact we have had such an insane amount of nerfs is baffling to me.
    really hoping the CEO gets things turned around for good. would be such a waste of a game to un-funify it into obscurity.

      At the same time, if all the weapons and stratagems get buffed into feeling OP, the community also doesn't stay very long because for most people a game that you just win all the time with no effort isn't going to hold your attention for long. Eventually a game that is more engaging is going to capture your attention. So, to raise player retention they've gotta start making the enemies more OP to make players actually engage with the game. This necessitates that all the weapons/stratagems are no longer OP by dint of them no longer overpowering the enemies. Then players complain, Arrowhead brings weapons up in power again, leading us back to square one to repeat the cycle. You end up with just a bunch of fair-weather fans at that point.
      Now, I've only played up to difficulty 6, and maybe things just so drastically change at 7+ but pretty much everything I've used has felt good to use and did a good job of what I set out to do. (except when I paired the Adjudicator with the Railgun, but I think that was more of having only used the Adjudicator for like 3-4 missions and the first Railgun mission so I just wasn't used to it, paired with constantly being stuck in close quarters, no the Adjudicator's strongpoint and it wasn't my best performance) But even if it turns out that when I do play those 7+ missions and they're too hard/unfun, I'll just move down in difficulty.
      It's something I think a lot of gamers struggle with (me as well sometimes). We've kinda been conditioned that if we're not playing the highest difficulty, and to some degree making it look easy, that we're "casuals" and not "true" gamers. Games are supposed to be fun first and foremost, and it shouldn't really matter in how you play a game to fulfill that.

      Yes. Things DRASTICALLY change in 7+.
      Primarily 8-9.
      Difficulty 6 vs difficulty 9 is night and day.
      9 you'll regularly get multiple bile titans at once whether from breaches or regular patrols.
      Not to mention depending on the enemy constellation instead of 2-3 chargers you'll be dealing with upwards of 6 chargers at once.(this just happened to me and a friend 20 minutes ago).
      It heavily pushes you into building a specific way for playing the game to continue to feel good. You can technically try and build differently be depending on what you leave out of your build, you will be running more than fighting. And if you build too incorrectly you actually will not be able to deal with some enemies at all(bile titans).
      I'd recommend unlocking helldive difficulty(9) and trying to solo it just to get a feel for what I'm talking about.
      I dont want the game to be easier than it is.
      I just want more good options. Cause right now variety is HEAVILY lacking due to bad design in enemies.
      The power of weapons isn't even the biggest problem.
      Its that chargers and bile titans have no meaningful weakpoints for AP4 weapons (AMR, HMG, Laser Cannon, etc)

      at some point the difficulty should be so high that solo’ing is impossible. In the first game the number of people who could solo level 15s by themselves consistently are potentially in the single digits

      Because bugs throw quantity at us, bots throw quality.
      You naturally pick up kills fighting head on into bugs, and there are always pouncers, scavengers, hunters, ect hanging aaround to die for super earth.
      VS bots those 10 troopers upgrade into 1 tank, and with threat essentially maxed due to patrol spawn botch you are always getting max quality vs bots.
      If kills on tanks were worth 5 kills of metal, and factory striders 20, the najor order would gave completed in 4 days.

      We didn't needs less days. bug order would finished in 3 1/2 days without the multicount bug. Even with bug only players, hostage refund protestors, a lot of solo players missing, bots not throwing quantity at us, the patrol/heat bugs, and all the other drama. We still came this close even after people figured out we wouldn't finish it in the timeframe 36 hours in.
      It's actually rather impressive the numbers we did do, and if they had been weighted by enemy threat at all we would have finished early even with the short duration.
      Dev's still limit testing what the player base can do, and we would have been capable of 3 daying this order before PSN drama, even with patrols weighted to maximimum threat all the time.

    I am more of a 7 difficulty "casual" diver and i dont enjoy helldives. But having an even more difficulty is a nice plus for the game (if we dont need to do it). Make it almost impossible, linked to an award and i will gladly watch a youtuber try hard completing it

    I’m all for higher difficulty as long as it’s done right. I rarely die at this point on 9 to either faction and bugs especially are getting boring.
    What I don’t want are just additional patrols or drop ships or spawn rates for titans or more stupid gunships in the sky. I don’t need it to be harder to avoid getting killed by my teammates.
    Maybe missions with more objectives and the same amount of time or more complicated objectives. There are actually more than enough enemies to fight, the things we need to do in 40 or 12 minutes are just not tuned up enough.

      releases weapons every month and after listening to player feed back adjusts stuff two weeks after, that sounds fantastic to me....
      but if i can take a random lv2 player and after a few hours he's able to hold his own and even contribute on lv9 bugs and lv7 bots with a liberator, i don't think the guns balance is the problem.....

The bots/bugs have to be a bit op and unfair so that op weapons feel good a rewading to use no matter the playstyle. They fkd the game by nerfing the players then they literally killed the game by banning 200 countries.

      @@johncrowley3322Not everyone has to be OP or elite at the game, I've basically haven't played video games in 10 years and the mechanics were easy enough to pick up. Again, time and time again I've teamed up with literal "this is my first mission" players and in a few hours they can master the game and be effective on helldive by level 10 because they respect the world and its rules instead of trying to force their own story in someone else's tale. every thing being OP isn't the premise they sold the game on, you are just a dude being dropped in over their heads against the horde like star ship troopers or the humans in terminator. You shouldn't win but you find a way to do so. In three months when everyone finds the next new shinny thing trending on tiktok the game will be better off for it. They will still have a player base larger than expected before release and they can get back to the story they wanted to tell and many of use bought to see and be a part of, not just another bs power fantasy.

    Bug players:
    All weapons must oneshot all enemies at all Times even when missing or we cry.
    Because only then its fun.
    Oh and remove all enemy spawns, i must be able to solo a Level 9 helldive without any downs and while drunk and high or else it is no fun

    As far as the shrapnel/eruptor situation, while I don’t pretend to know what they’re doing, it’s possible they took that stuff out to work on it and then reinsert it at a later date once they got it fixed.

    I haven’t died too many times but while grinding the recent personal order that required 3 extractions it was crazy to see the amount of enemies solo on trivial. Of course they were all basic bots but still blew my mind

    I recently started Helldivers 2, and a much higher rank friend decided to try and help power my mission difficulty up faster. While at 4 difficulty, we did a bug defense mission and had bile titans all over the place, think 6 at one time with 3 of us. Then while doing a 6 difficulty mission we were soon over run by patrols left and right, and due to a bug no one was able to join our game. He then said to me, 'This is nuts, just two of us and so many patrols it is almost like playing at higher difficulty.'
    Tried a few solo and found the spawn rate to be overwhelming to the point I turned difficulty down just so certain type of units wouldn't spawn that were harder to deal with due to my lack of stratagems and longer reuse timers. Needless to say I have fun in small servings of HD2, certainly different than a lot of other squad based games I've played in the past....but I am glad the spawn rates will be getting addressed to include some recent nerfs to weapons friend was telling me about too.

    I have used Eruptor today .... Man I was sad 2-4 shots to kill striders... I won't use it again .... Before the patch Eruptor was my go to weapon on bots 😢

    Ngl, level 11 should be the max. Because of the saying “crank it to 11”, and it should match that vibe. They should make it like those screen shots of 10 or 12 bio titans appearing, an absurd amount of chargers, etc. or, a means of introducing new, harder enemies.
    There’s a lot they could do, a lot of different directions, and I look forward to seeing that coming.
    And for those curious about the spawn rates, read the following from patch 1.000.300, April 29th.
    Enemy Patrols
    Patrol spawning has been increased when there are fewer than 4 players. The fewer the players the bigger the change. For 4 player missions there will be no change compared to before.The biggest noticeable change will be for solo players at higher difficulties
    It was clear as day how it would go.

    I miss the shrapnel. Visually it was awesome watching it zip all over the place and ricocheting shots around corners was so fun. Now it's just a hella slow explosive crossbow.

    with 300+ hours in game, I can say the Sickle is the only primary worth using (inc breaker if fighting bugs tho) that holds up even in 9's. every weapon needs a damage buff, or rather every primary should be medium armour penetrating as the default baseline (with the rest scaled properly in response). hitting weakpoints with primary weapons feel like chopping wood with a plastic axe from Toys-R-Us

    As terrifying as the automatons are the first time you face them, they really are a great enemy. Their armor combined with various weakpoints means that you can have big damage weapons, but unless they have the appropriate armor pen, you still need to seek the weakpoint. Designing around that would allow them to give notable buffs to most light/medium pen weapons without breaking the game, as you'd still need to work around the heavy armor and weakpoints of elites/heavies. Even bugs somewhat follow this, as you could have a 1000 dmg liberator, but it's not gonna do a damn thing to chargers' and hiveguards' frontal armor. Enemies that require a bit of finesse and have a high threat level of their own are how they can allow us to have strong, highly effective weapons for mowing down most of the chaff while still keeping us on a razor's edge.

    My biggest argument is only having literally half a second to kill a bug that summons more bugs. Like no matter how fast yu kill them it still summons hordes. So fkn annoying at Helldive difficulty considering the increased patrols.

    As someone who preferred solo play, just more my style. The spawn rates wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t how the enemies detect you feeling inconsistent. The bots it’s not too bad, they either see you or they don’t. But the bugs man. I can’t count how many times I was sneakin around and then the DAMM bile spewers start targeting me with their artillery acid thing. Doesn’t matter if I’m prone, quiet, and out of sight. They just know I’m in range and start dropping bombs on me. And then that alerts the other bugs and boom I’m fucked.

    As a dev, I can say for sure the issue is again with "Live service". They don't really have the time to create some sort of PTR(Public Test Realm) to have actual people play the "incoming patch" before it gets shoved into PROD. They really need one of these, but they also don't want patches to come through in a slower rate, which is what PTRs kind of add to that problem, but also it takes time sometimes to find issues.
    It's.... not easy for devs to try to fix something that management throws down the line, and then not really be able to test it in some sort of QA environment with a sizeable amount of people to see the issue. Instead they have to look to see if the code they touched broke any of the core mechanics, that they at least identified, but it's hard to know every single thing a code touches and can impact down the line - which is a lot that we are seeing.
    I'm not really sure the best response to this would be, I guess if it were me..
    I would have any "improvements/nerfs/whatever" that is currently in the game, those shouldn't be implemented fast, unless something is horrible wrong and broken. Is a gun OP as hell? Who cares for right now, it's not PVP, it's not some "If you win you get money" it's just a fun co-op shooter. They can make whatever tweak, have it sit in the PTR for a month, before contemplating moving it through.
    Anything completely new should be a bit easier to implement, unless again it fundamentally changes a game mechanic. I guess that, in my opinion, is the best way they can go about this.

    Solo, duo, trio shouldn't be treated as Handicap. Enemy counts should be determined by the difficulty.

    We’ve added more spawns for teams less than 4. Deal w it.
    We’ve noticed too many spawns, we’ll take a while to test and fix this issue.

    The part that i love about AH is the way they implemented updates in a silent way, like on the other day when they added sliding while literally increasing the patrol rate by 10 times in Helldive and that happen while i was in-game lmao
    P.S. idk about the sliding part though, all i remember was i suddenly have the ability to do that instead of basic stance switching after 2 hours into the game, and the others seems to just notice it as well
