I know this may not fit the narrative of this song...but I'm a divorced father raising a 7 yr old son and a 5 yr old girl alone. I didn't become a father until I was 38. I just pray I raise them right and hope God allows me to live to see it through.

It will fit the narrative as your journey continues… and it might even a little right now because live isn’t far. So just continue to better yourself for your kids and do the best you can. Refer to this song as needed as a reminder. Hang in there.

My mother was the eldest of 7 children and pretty much raised her siblings as both my grandparents worked very long hours. She was married at 19 and had all three of us boys by the time she was 24. She went to work when my younger brother hit kindergarten. Her life was always about taking care of those she loved. Finally, after we were all out of the house she started attending college taking night classes. Then this song came out and it became her BANNER song! Unfortunately, she passed in the spring of 1992 at the age of 51 :-( Still, this song reminds me of her strength and her love and commitment to her family. She worked tirelessly to pass those traits on to us three boys.

The became my mother's favorite song and her anthem. She was married at 19, had my brother at 20, me at 21, and my other brother at 23. When my youngest brother went to Kindergarten she started working for the phone company. After we all graduated from high school she starting taking college classes studying to be a counselor for abused women. Unfortunately, in April 1992 she passed away from cancerous brain tumors three weeks after her diagnosis at the age of 51. Although it is still the single most devastating event of my life. Hearing this song always brings a smile to my face and peace in my heart knowing how much this song resonated with her. Thank you Reba for this song that meant so much to my mother and, consequently, me. God Bless!

Been married 18 years, and tonight I'll be taking our 11 year old son to a WHL playoff game for some fun. Quitting doing drugs, becoming a wife and mother, working at a fast food restaurant because it has a flexible schedule I can bend around my family's lifestyle may seem the opposite of this song but it's been my inspiration whenever I think life is passing me by.

I love how, after she gets upset at her daughter, she makes amends with her with a bedtime story so they don't "go to bed angry".
And her husband takes care of drying the paper, presumably without even telling her, so this can happen, supporting her, reminding her he loves her, understanding how stressful this is for her and being patient. And how he proudly proclaims "that's my wife" when she graduates.
And she shows she hasn't forgotten him when she cuddles and caresses him when she comes to bed late. That she hasn't forgotten her son when she picks him up at the park with a hug. That she hasn't forgotten her daughter when she asks how she's feeling.
This is so much shorter than so many movies, yet it shows a deeply loving family so much better than so many videos hundreds of times its length...

My wife and I met in college. She had to drop out of college (due to financial problems) the year I graduated. I went to grad school while she got a job as a secretary. Even though it put us into debt, I was damned if I was going to have her wondering what might have been, so she went back to school in my 3rd year of grad school. We both graduated at the same time, her with a B.S., I with an M.S. Now, she's the one with the full time job and I'm the one with the "extra job" and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am graduating next month with my bachelor’s degree that I have worked seven years for. I have gone through abusive relationships, long work shifts, mental health breakdowns, autistic meltdowns, and extreme loneliness as I didn’t have friends to hang out or even to talk to. I have done my homework and studied on breaks and even behind the counter when business was slow and my boss wasn’t watching. My abusive partners have shamed me for going to school and due to the stigma autistics faced, I have had people telling me they didn’t believe in me. Throughout the years, I have gone through extreme amount of stress, gone for days without sleeping because I was so focused on getting my homework done on time after working late nights. My body has paid the price in multiple ways. Yet, to me, it was all worth it. I am achieving my lifelong goal and going to start a new, amazing chapter of my own.

I know what this is like. I was a single parent raising 4 teenagers, worked full time as a security officer for a major oil company, went to school full time and drove 108 miles round trip to school 4 or 5 days a week. I am now 9 credits short of a Bachelors Degree in Psychology/Sociology, I work in a shelter for victims of domestic violence and all of my children are grown and have lives of their own. It was tough sometimes, but I made it. I can do it, anyone can.

DeEtta Leaton yes same here. I had a husband though who was there to support me and I too worked full time and went to school and also majored in Psychology. Was it worth it? You bet I gave up a full scholarship to an Ivy league college (Radcliffe). I was in a serious relationship and found myself pregnant and so opted to forego college at least for the moment. Just a little set back but I did go back and ended up with that diploma and it was well worth it! Once you have that degree there really is nothing that can hold you back! You do create your own reality! So here's to more Kodak moments!

Truly love this song. Sang it at my first talent show when I was around 12 maybe. I 'understood' the lyrics at the time because I watched my mother sacrifice so much working so hard alongside my dad on our families farm. She was and is selfless. Now looking back and listening to this song today...It takes on a WHOLE new meaning for me and my life. All these hopes and dreams and yes...I've had many walk on the moon moments and I live my life to love my Littles but...I would love to be truly happy in the 'life out there' living my life on purpose and in a job I love. Do something for me. Odd that I watched this today because I am transitioning over the next 60 says to make that move to living a better life for ME and my family. Massive action for success.

Just found this song. This was found at the exact time I really needed this song. I am a student in college full time and I work a part time job. I have always done the same things and have always thought about it if I am doing the right thing in going for my degree in applied science with a major in business. Ive wondered what else was out there instead of me getting my life together. I now know. I have a 4.0 GPA in college when I have never had a 4.0 in high school or college in my past. I am so proud of myself and what I have accomplished. I am finally changing my life around for the better proving myself to people who have told me that I will never succeed. I am better. Those people who have told me I will never succeed in life are being proved wrong. I am making a life for myself and I am succeeding. To those who feel like they are lost and having people tell you that you will never succeed, don't listen to them. You will succeed and you will do this. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I have faith in you. It may be hard at first, but you will do it. Stay strong and remain positive!!!! I have total faith in you!!!!

I listen to this song a lot lately.... It wasn't long after I graduated High School that I gave birth to my princess who is now 6. In the beginning it was rough and I knew I had to make changes. I tried to get by many ways.. I worked as a waitress... I waitressed and picked up a second job... Four years later I wanted more for her and I. I got a management job at a fast food restaurant and started going to college. Now I am working a 40 hour week job that I consider a "big girl job". By that I mean Monday - Friday 8-5 PTO ect.. I am still attending college Online and found out I was pregnant about a week ago.. When I'm feeling overwhelmed I listen to this song and it encourages me to keep on pluggin' along.. There is life out there! My hope is to inspire my children to reach for the stars, set goals, and be happy. I would never change the way my life has panned out but I will not settle either. :-)

Never too late for anything! Except the ass whoopin you shoulda gave but you was behaving yourself, being a "classy lady". And my nickname is skrappy. I didn't have the time for that. Grrrrrr🤦‍♀️ she's dead now anyway, can't keep selfish people alive, ironic isn't it?

Ugh. Not gonna lie - this is a hard video for me to watch. It's too real for me and pulls too many memories out that I've tried to forget... That moment when the coffee spills and she starts crying as her husband says, "Time Out". Ugh. I was the kid in this situation... It didn't turn out as well as this did.

It was great of Huey Lewis to play Reba's husband in this video, would also be nice to see them reunite for a duet :-)

This is from the movie "Is There Life Out There?" If you haven't seen it, get it, it's on DVD . Also here on the Tube, in sections .
This movie changed several people's lives. One man said that at the end of the movie, his wife was in tears. He said he decided he's gonna work 3 jobs if he has to, but he's gonna make sure his wife gets her degree .That's Reba's power. She gets into people's hearts and changes them .

My mom just told me that this song inspired her to go back to school in her 30s. I’ll never listen to it the same way again. So proud of her!

I remember my mom studying so hard for her real estate license. Dad never failed at trying to make her feel... less... and laughing that she'd never make it. She did! They're both gone now. They divorced after 30 years of constant fighting. I was so proud, not. But, I was proud of her. They let each other down, our at us kids' expense. Point is, if you have a dream, especially a realistic possible dream... freakin' go for it. I miss my dysfunctional parents. I'm an old(er) guy now.

In 95 I had 3 children and a husband and I could hear this song. But I left and here I lay in my bed wondering should I have stayed looking back. We both have been remarried and but both still are married I followed my heart back then. I happy in this marriage but Reba has another song I play it ( What if ) Do you ever really get over your first love.

Though I wasn't a parent going through college, I know the feelings with having kids around while I do homework. I helped raised my cousin my first three years of school and one night I was assisting a with the youth theater by minding the "munchkin room" (they were performing the wizard of oz) and one kid accidentally dumped their water bottle on my statistics book and homework. They were worried that I would get upset at them. I wanted to yell at them but I just told them to grab paper towels and help me get what we can away from the water. But trust me, the feeling of having something you worked hard on get "ruined" is the same no matter the situation

My mom always loved this song and welled up at it, I never really knew why; I was only 7 when this video came out. Now I realize. My mother has given so much and sacrificed so much for her children; always wanted a higher education, and to either be a writer or go into psychology. But financially it wasn't doable. When her 3 children graduated post secondary, let's just say her eyes weren't dry:) I did that as much for my mom as I did for me.
