You're absolutely right about Ford and the dealers, Tom. When the Mach E was just coming out my wife and I had one on order. We deferred when they marked it up and kept the lease rebate. Ended up leasing her an ID.4 instead. My wife STILL wants a Mach E. We looked at lease deals again last week. So much more expensive than much of competition these days.
We want to give Ford our money, but they just won't work with us.
An integrated tow hitch is a must in all vehicles, even if tow capacity is limited to 2500 pounds. Heavier E-bikes require hitch mounted racks and being able to tow a small camper would be nice.
Ur honest Tom and anyone that has followed you for awhile should know!
Great guest today! 👍
My problem with the Mach E is the lack of an included tow package.
My problem with Mach E is that it sucks. 😂
@@JohnLee-db9zt Weird. Mine is pretty good. 🤷
What about battery conditioning and heat pumps in the Mach E? Winter range and winter driving is brutal without battery conditioning options both auto conditioning while navigating or a manual option to turn on battery conditioning yourself. Sounds like they are pushing everything out another 2 years for the next upgrades.
Yeah I'm disappointed in the 24 changes, it's better than nothing but amounts to a minor mid cycle refresh, which discourages me into thinking the 25s will be basically the same. Don't know if I can wait until 26 to get another one, may have to switch to another brand, which is a shame cuz I love my Mach-E but it needs more upgrades than what they've given it so far after 4 model years. And after all this time, to have her response to the 5 second throttle be "we're gonna try but we're investigating it still" is beyond disappointing. I'll probably wait and see what's in the 25s and if I'm not impressed I may jump ship.
Can’t wait to see these cars on CarWow and Edmunds U-Drags
Thank you Tom for pointing out dealers have to do a better job!
Had a great experience in a Mach-E rental. Will definitely want to see what the rally is all about.
What Ford really needs to do to sell more Mach Es is get qualified for the Federal tax credit - addresses price and competitive disadvantage in a major way.
You guys missed the Equinox EV pricing and build availability.
Ran out of time. Next week
They spent too much time on one subject which becomes boring! They ramble on with not much to say several times every week!
I am very impressed by Ford and their efforts in the past few years. Also their efforts engaging the public is impressive. Better than any commercial they can make.
Ford's efforts on EV in Australia is near non existent. Good to see better efforts in US.
@@ElectricCarAustralia All US Automakers have pretty much lost nearly everything outside the Country, they have few sales if any.
At First I thought Donna was Kyle with some Kind of Filter on lol
If they really listened to the "always on", they'd have addressed the 3 most basic items customers have been begging for over the last year or two, which is:
1) Give us a damn button on the home screen for he frunk
2) Basic charging info on the screen while plugged in
3) Blue Cruise update
Ford’s greatest problem on software upgrades is they have very little vertical integration. Most modules are outsourced so changes require coordination with multiple vendors, taking considerable time & expense. Having done considerable software validation many years ago, I attest to its challenges. Ford must get more vertically integrated as software dominates EVs.
Thanks for interviewing Donna Dixon of Ford.
Great show, lots of good content in this one.
Thanks for watching!
I have an Eruption Green Rally Edition on order, I'm excited for it to show up.
Ford needs to have the Sync software available to display a page or two of all the OBD-II parameters if a customer desires to see them.
Kyle should do a video on the Canbera Hydrofoil EV boat.
Range is settling around 250-300 but that means real range is 150-200 in winter compared to a gas getting 300. That is why EVs still need to increase range so it's more comparable to gas. I would like to see 400 with a worst case scenario in winter of 250 that is acceptable
how many laps can the ioniq5 do before it overheats?
When will Rivian Adventure Network be open to non-Rivians?
I doubt Hyundai is losing money on the N versions. Even with the extra bits, the motors just need more power drawn from the battery for the power.
So that’s actually called the Chargetrailer and it’s made by ADS-TEC Energy. They make the 320kW Chargebox too.
This car still doesn't have a heat pump correct? I know the lightning is getting one. I am looking at an EV but want one with a heat pump for winter range.
I just want all these EV makers to make such compelling EVs that nobody wants a gas car anymore.
My biggest question would be to Ford Canada. Why isn’t there parts in stock to fix well known defective parts in the brand new 2023 Mach e? (recalls in the USA, not Canada) Buyer beware !
Never heard an accent quite like Donna’s. Is that what people sound like from Chicago? Detroit?
I didn't get an answer to the most important question. Will older vehicles get the DC charging speed update? If the hardware is the same, they should get it with OTA.
Ford still needs to bring more colors into the interior. Red interior please 🙏 lol
You guys have a great panel BUT please find a way to include everyone in your conversations. The back and forth interaction is what I can’t get from everyone’s individual channels.
Good feedback
Tom asked if many of 2024 features will go to installed base of Mach e owners via OTA. Answer was it is an after thought so probably no. Ford is way behind Tesla in OTA updates and they need to do a better job.
I’m still waiting and disappointed in getting Bluecruise 1.3 in my ‘22 premium ER eAWD. Told I would get it soon in August of 2023. They won’t go back and remove any limitations on the older cars. Too much of a liability.
Please, someone investigate Zef Net in Minnesota😢. The put in 50 kw chargers throughout middle and upper Minnesota. They will absolutely not keep their equipment maintained. Duluth - broken. Crosby- broken, grand Portage- broken, St Cloud- broken. Thank goodness Circle K 180’s are starting to filter into a few Holiday Station Stores. I swear there has to have been some shady business deals with Zef Net exclusively showing up in needed areas and then they let them go to rot.
Just fix the Mach-e software. Ours is almost 2 years old and not one of the 9 "glitches" we have reported to Ford has been fixed. Car periodically loses its mind and various things have to get rebooted.
Software doesn't really seem to be a focus for Ford unfortunately.
This
Also I wish they would fix the suspension damping. It’s a total basket case
Especially the rear suspension
The Mach-es' Eruption Green Metallic with the Bronze appearance package looks awesome. Too bad you have to give up 40 miles of range to get it.
Why didnt you Talk about the massive Tesla layoffs?
It’s normal no point
@@jaredp17 its 10% of their staff..
@@Knnnkncht yeah they were aiming for 20%. This is normal to get rid on B graded employees. Only A+ workers. This is annual in tech.
Maybe off topic.Just want yo mention an idea? I'm retired are any auto makers considering how to get the most out of us the rerirees. How to get us into EVs ? Howbout special lease programs etc...
none in Oklahoma cybertruck
Matt Farah is going to try to convince his wife that the Ioniq 5N is better than the Macan EV.
Right, right, right
😂 Domenick seemed either under prepared or nervous.
👍
IoniqN and Tesla Ludicrous will the ford GT compete?
Ford Lightning Pro is still faster than the Mach-E extended range? All Mach-Es should be under 5 sec 0-60mph.
Well, done on that car and it’s just sitting on dealers lots..lol😂
Kudos to Donna answering your questions. Refreshing to see a female in this very senior engineering position. Not a chance 40 years ago.
Quick acceleration is an observable fact. It is not "perceived" performance vs actual performance. You can correctly say it is not a complete performance car with out performance brakes and suspension.
When Sandy was at Ford, would he have worked for someone at Donna’s level?
If everyone reasons likes this the world would be crazy haha 44:44 Like the Ioniq 5 N, feels like a more reasonable car to own than a plaid, thinking of switching cars. Would get a Macan if to choice between more cars? Its a better car? I dont get people anymore... Am I alone in this asylum?
With EVs expected to have extremely long shelf lives.... With high extended battery lives and troubke free drivelines ... Manufactures need to figure out how to get more older adults retirees like me into EVs fast
Problem with the 5N, it’s a Subaru WRX for twice the money. Kids can’t afford it and those that can, would go for the status and prestige of a luxury brand. Like the GR Yaris, a RUclipsrs wet dream, for two weeks only! 😎😇
I feel like Mrs Donna wanted to say multiple times that we are not Tesla. One thing hasn’t changed is how long it takes for changes to be made with in Ford.
Wow, Donna, that was a total no without saying no on improving performance on the current GTPE. Unbelievable that she got a pass on that from the Batteries Included team, this will be the last Ford I ever buy. So frustrated.
Problem is the 24 has new motors and other hardware in-house from Ford. Would be a lot of work to make improvements on components that came from outside suppliers.
She didn’t say no, the message was the priority one, two, and three was to roll out a good high quality 2024. Then two see what could be done for updating software for older product. This is how the world works with complex products. No one else is going to do different and succeed with both quality and speed.
While it’s great to have Donna on, she’s out of touch. Shouldn’t the Chief Engineer know all the details on this upgraded Mach E MY 2024? Unless the specs are not released yet, she needs to be able to articulate what we all want to know. Exact range difference, exact efficiency difference. Come on. Plus IT’S MAY 2024 and you’re just now announcing a new model? FORD should have had this ready back in Sept 2023 when the rest of MY 2024’s come out. Since FORD acts and operates like the typical BIG 3, you want changes, buy a new car. FORD can’t make money upgrading a 2021, so don’t expect any. Meanwhile your biggest EV competitor keeps upgrading and adding features to their 2018 Tesla Model 3. One more reason to NOT buy one of these. Typical FORD out of touch and focused on the wrong things.
So sad to see what they've done to the 'stang. It's a battery powered SUV now, not a muscle car anymore. It's embarassing to look at, like seeing your favorite old rock and roll band playing the county fair...
I think I might try to find an old 64-66 and start slowly rebuilding it, so my kid grows up knowing what a real Mustang looks, feels, and sounds like. I don't want her living in an America where dumbed down laptops on wheels replace actual driving machines that require skill to operate and maintain.
Can display the charge rate? Trash how embarrassing. Your phone can do this but not a 50k vehicle
Also remember yall if you get a BEV right now you are a beta tester
With respect.. Do you guys live on an island? Throughout the early Twitter acquisition (and even today) any employee who provided mild pushback to inaccuracies by Elon Musk was fired on the spot. At Tesla. there are countless stories of Managers telling their staff to stay clear of Elon because he will fire you on the spot if you give him an answer he does not like. There have been numerous reports of Tesla managers pushing back on extreme staffing cuts Elon wants to make recently and have resigned in protest. This is who Elon Musk is as a leader and Twitter/X is suffering because of it. Tesla is heading in the same direction as Mr. Musk is a poor leader and has emotional issues.
Elon does not own Tesla but the feckless BoD acts as if he owns everything.
enough already with 0-60 times, back when I raced formula cars that was important, not at all for a street car nobody should care. Constantly mentioning this screams of looking for things to talk about and must be stopped immediately.
