There’re 2 types of swimming bladder issues. One is sinking swimming bladder issue, the other one is floating swimming bladder. Your Oranda is the first type. Relatively speaking, sinking type is easy to cure. The harder one is the floating type of swimming bladder. Constantly exposure to the air will dry up the fish slime and may eventually lead to dropsy disease. Fat body or deep belly goldfish tends to have a higher chance of swimming bladder issues. No over-feeding and Early detection are the key. Green pea trick sometimes works and sometimes not.
My fish has the second one. He is floating on his side. I added methylene blue and salt and feed green peas but he does not eat the peas! What can I do???
Thank you for this video ! It gave me so much hope for my little zebra danio. She struggled for WEEKS, at the very bottom of the tank , swimming in circles like a Ferris wheel - unable to eat or control her swimming. I upped the temp to 80F, added salt and gave her frozen canned peas that were almost powdered by keeping it in the freezer (she couldn't eat because her condition was so severe but maybe the powdered form of the pea helped as a suspension?) It was amazing how she recovered after almost looking like she wouldn't ever make it. She is now back with the other fish swimming happily in the main tank. Thank you again for showing me that perseverance is key. Most online sources say to euthanize them, but this was an unbelievable recovery.
Thank you for this video . It was very informative . I have the same oranda and we’ve been treating her for a couple of days now but her condition is still very severe . She’s floating upside down and it’s worrying me. Please pray for her. I hope she recovers
60 days for one single oranda, showns how much you love your fish, I also tried saving my fish , with swim bladder but wase t able to do it , she died within 3 days , so disappointing 😭😔, I am really motivated after seeing this effort and love for your lovely ❤️ or goldfish, hats off buddy
I had two Orandas with the same swimbladder issue. Both belly up. I used the old fashion bucket to bucket treatment, fasting and some salt. Inflammation slowly dissappeared and I began only feeding them sinking pellets. I truly believe the floating flakes are the cause as they inhale air eating them and at the end of the day they are from the carp family and bottom feeders. Wonderful to see your care and empathy 🙏🏻
Ever since I saw you one video on youtube, I immediately watch your other videos and admired your ranchus. Ever since then I started to keep ranchus and loved them very much. I really hope i can buy some of your fishes and thats a dream come true to me. Hope to see more videos from you. Thanks a lot. From Philippines with love.
Thank u so much for the clear definition.... My oranda fishes also have this same swim bladder disease. I was really confused and I don't know how to cure this disease. After watching this vdo I'm clear I can cure my fish tooo. Thank you again☺️
I bought a ryukin goldfish with this desease cause no one wanted him, he stayed in the store for almost 2 years. Now after 5 months in my tank he is doing lot better, sometimes he still swim in a strange way or floats in the top of the tank, but he is growing, eating and really happy💚 and he looks 10 times better than before
My Oranda had the same swim bladder issue, so I feed it rock salt and comparatively very less food for every alternate week for a month. Now my Oranda is happily moving and eating in my aquarium tank with other fishes. 🥰
oh no that poor fish; l am glad she recovered I have got a platy that had white thing cothering her lip. she is cured from it sticking out but her lip is still white. should I give it some more time or should I do something extra.
Hi, I have a goldfish with almost the same issue. Difference is that right now it floats upside down when not swimming. It started just two days ago and I've been going mad trying to find help and hopefully cure my fish. I want to try the exact same cure for my fish as you did but I have a few questions. * The salt, how much did you use initially, and did you add more salt during the recovery? (Just bought epsom salt that I've read should be good) * The vitamin, what vitamin is that exactly? Bought from a pet store or just a pharmacy? * Did you give peas to the fish on day 5 for the first time? And then gave little food every day? I hope you can answer my questions. I will be forever greatful if my fish recovers from this. Best regards, Philip
With this you should feed him green beans because I herd it can prevent and kind on cure swim bladder disease. I hope this will help you out with you fellow goldfish when you see this try it straight away and you will had a best chance for him..!!
@@Jesseusenich Yes, thanks I will. I just wondered of when to start feeding my fish (day 5 for first time?) and if I should give beans every day after that or maybe every 2-3 days?
May I ask what kind of filter you have running on your hospital tank? My black moor is currently going thru this and I'm trying everything you've done. Thank you.
what kind of multivitamin did you give? my ryukin is starting to show signs of SBD. its my 3rd day of not giving him food. Do you put airstone to tank? From what i read increasing temp and adding salt depletes the oxygen exchange specialty with slowing down the flow. i decided to put airstone at the lowest setting and due to my hospital tank is only 25 liters big and only put 80% of height for water level. She's not showing problems when only moving slowly but when she tries to swims fast, the rear side of her start to make her roll vertically.
I gave multi vitamin (u can get it from any aquarium shop). Yes, I adding the oxygen too. Your ryukin is floating swim bladder issue, stop feeding those high protein food.
do you think this method applies to all kinds of swimbladder problems, like the one that makes the fish swim upside down? Bcs it's quite common in my gold fish..
I tried everything I could find online and yet still my fishes couldn’t recover. Hence, I did surgery on them, cruel as it may look, at least it swam upright and could finally eat!
