So glad I found your channel, my goal is becoming a cybersecurity analyst, so I try and soak up any info from knowledgeable people like yourself Sun! Thank you!
Cant wait to see the upcoming episodes linked with Tails! :)
Never thought of using tails for this but it’s perfect. Seriously looking forward to future episodes
Thanks for this
- can you consider increasing the terminal font size a bit (by 1 or 2 degrees)?
- how do you burn keys onto yubico keys!?
- more tails videos please :)
- you can run diskutil list BEFORE inserting your flash drive then after to make sure you're selecting the correct destination
🍻
More of you are needed in this world sharing their pragmatism and grounded observation. Believer here! Thanks
Thanks so much for this. By the way, what is your camera setup. It looks amazing!
Sun, 2 questions: (1) what are your thoughts on the hardwares from Purism and (2) your thoughts on Snowden's app called *Haven*?
Awesome channel, i've looking for content like these for a long time.
GREAT VIDEO ... Thank You ... These types of videos are so valuable and important ...
Thanks for the push!
4:49, 12:57 possibly a Trezor hardware wallet for multi-sinatures.
It will not vanish "as soon as you turn off the computer." Some data takes as much as 20 minutes to disappear completely-even when the computer is off and unplugged.
I like tails since I read Snowdens book where he recommended it. Please more about it!
Edit: What iTerm theme do you use Sun?
More coming! Theme I use is called Minimal.
@@sunknudsen Thank you very much (I idiot was already using it 🙈)
Hi Sun, thanks for the wonderful video. As beginner in cyber security domain, can I request your suggestion for laptops which are suitable for running Tails as in my Mac running Big Sur I have witnessed problem with keys and trackpads not working also external keyboards were not very comfortable with Mac. Thanks in advance.
any other PC should work fine it just new Macs that are the problem
I'd love more videos on other Tails use cases.
Just like you verified tails, do you need to verify homebrew and or gnuPG?
Hello Sun, i am having MacBook Pro 2020 model (with Big Sur and windows 10 both installed). I tried to install tails on USB, but it is not booting up. You mean to say that it works only works on older Mac models having Catalina OS? Please advise. Is there any instruction that can share on how to install either on Big Sur or Windows 10 in Mac book Pro 2020 model. Thanks in advance.
A really interesting video, nicely done ☑️
Sun, will this work on ElCapitan? if not how can I put the tails on the USB stick? I tried Etcher but it makes the USB disappear. I had to use disk utility to bring it back! I keep getting "command not found"
Great video! Awesome channel! 💛
Great video as always!
Does anyone know whether you can boot from an USB drive on m1 macs?
Great channel. I love your work.
Am I able to do it the same way if I’m running windows instead of Mac ?
Hey Sun, im still a little bit confused with tails, is it like a VPN?? OR is it like an operating system?? is it kinda like running Windows on a mac or something else?? i think im gonna need to watch your future episodes to fully understand what this tails thing is.
Hey, great questions! I would suggest starting a discussions on github.com/sunknudsen/privacy-guides/discussions so our community can fill in the gaps. 🤓
It's a live linux OS with Tor enabled by default so its sorta both
@@GhostofTradition thanks. but i still have no idea about linux and tor, hehe. I think i'll just pass on this one then. ;)
Hey please answer my comment. Can I run Tails Os on macbook m1 ?
Thanks! But can I use the rest of the space on the partitioned USB for other normal uses after putting on Tails? Also, now my computer doesn’t even recognize the USB when I insert it.
Yes, but you would need to create partition… see github.com/sunknudsen/privacy-guides/blob/b26cf663577aefef14c7700726de750793f91399/how-to-install-and-use-veracrypt-on-tails/README.md#step-2-optional-create-exfat-partition-on-tails-usb-flash-drive-or-sd-card.
You are good at your job Bro.
Awesome power pack episode coming nice ,tails this great source protect sensitive files
I'm glad you mentioned the Bitcoin wallet, this is exactly what i use it for! It's just safer than using a wallet on my desktop :)
Double u. Oh. Double u. Sir, you have it locked down. Kudos.👏👏👏👍
Can someone help I can boot up tails but I can’t connect to tor it says something about a proxy server refusing connections when I try to launch tor
Hey what happened to the episode about vera crypt and Tails?
I didn’t like how I was pushing donations and merch. I deleted a few episodes following reset. That said, I will be publishing that episode again shortly (hopefully today).
Thank you :)
Pleasure!
Sir make a video on keepass which is an open source password manager and please share your views on that
leaving smosh really changed this man
How to create offline, read-only Rasp Pi????
Just like what u have, with the screen.
Thanks Sun!
Question. Of tails is an operating system. Can a person build a penetration practice lab on it?
So do you boot your linux sytem onto your mac using the USB drive?
Yes, Tails is a live operating system.
@@sunknudsen Thanks, but you run it on your Mac Laptop?
Yes, on a mid-2015 MacBook Pro. Recent Macs tend to have compatibility issues.
Can you make a video on how to install 7z on tails?
Looks great, but too difficult for me!
Hey sun, I’m on Monterey and cannot boot tails using memory card, I get the error : unable to verify startup disk! Did I miss something on your guide ??
Thanks 🙏
Edit: now i got it fixed but when it boots it stays on a completely black screen, any solution ?
One can only boot to Tails on limited Mac hardware… please have a look at tails.boum.org/doc/about/requirements/index.en.html and tails.boum.org/support/known_issues/index.en.html.
@@sunknudsen thanks sun
GREAT video explaining Tails, love it!!
Blindfully ... not a word !
Blindly ... a word !
thanks man.
Hey boss which bitcoin open source wallet would you use?
Please teach us more about your raspberry device
More coming next week!
Can you install tails on the HDD of a laptop? (instead of the USB stick?
Hey Brian, typically Tails is not installed on internal drives but I don’t see why it wouldn't work (that said, never tried it).
isnt veracrypt dead since a long time?
What I find say is, this is great information, but must of imus will never do any of these things. I have yet to take my privacy seriously after years of watching stuff like this.😭
12:02 Sun presses alt. On my 2015 alt is at the top of the key, option is at the bottom of the key.
Aren't there any ways to retrieve data from RAM even after you turn off your PC/laptop?
can i run VPN in Tails?
Tails routes all traffic over Tor so you typically don’t have to.
@@sunknudsen, I've tried using Tails today. Unfortunately, my mac isn't compatible with Tails.
M1 Chip with the latest version of macOS, sigh.
Feel you… had to buy a used ThinkPad to run Tails.
Extremely difficult
Can you put tails on an encrypted hard drive?
If drive supports hardware unlocking (using biometrics on Samsung T7 Touch for example), I suppose it is possible. That said, the benefits are arguable given manufacturers tend to not reveal encryption spec.
Please slow down when you speak. Also, could you do a video series on: Verifying sig files and packages? Are these all the same methods?? Shasum or checksum, public and private developers keys, GPG method and using Terminal? Are they all doing the same thing just different ways? It's not clear from GPG, Tor and others are not clear. One video focusing on each one and not mixing them up in instructions/directions or when you speak. Stay on subject I like what you do and by the way, it isn't anyways. It's anyway. There is no 's' at the end. Thanks
If you want him to slow down, go to YT settings, top right of screen, find playback speed, and select your desired speed there 🙂
not de-bian, more like deb-ian
blindly
Deebian ?? Lol
STOP BABBLING ABOUT YOUR MAC AND 1,000 OTHER THINGS, GET TO THE POINT MAN!
If you use Tails or Tor, you are doing something you aren't suppose to be doing.
