+schwartzy65 I love all three. Yeah, the first stands on it's own VERY WELL, but that doesn't mean having the others is horrible. You can love the first one by itself if you want, but the other two are what they are. Sure they could be better in a perfect world, but what isn't that way in life?

From an action standpoint, sure, it's a lot fun. If I recall correctly, Reloaded and Revolutions was supposed to be one movie that was instead stuffed with filler to become two. I don't think this was the creators fault, I think it was WB. As a result, the story suffered and got a bit silly with lots of bloat IMHO. Both Matrix sequels drifted from the narrative setup by original and in the end no one really cared what happened to Neo or Trinity.

GM donated 300 cars for use in the production of the movie. All 300 were wrecked by the end.
Around 97 percent of the material from the film sets were recycled after filming. For example, tons of wood were sent to Mexico to build low-income housing.
Laurence Fishburne, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Anthony Brandon Wong all signed on to the film without having read the script.
There were several injuries on the set: Carrie-Anne Moss broke her leg training for a wire stunt, Laurence Fishburne fractured an arm in another training incident, and Hugo Weaving put out a disc in his neck while being pulled back on a wire.
The monitors appearing in the Architect's room are exactly the same as those appearing in The Matrix (1999), when agents capture Neo for interrogation and insert a bug in him.
When Neo and Smith meet for the first time in the film, there is a piece of white graffiti on the fence behind them. The graffiti is written in runes, and spells out "thew" (thorn, eoh, wynn). "Thew" is Old-English, and means servant or slave. This ties into the theme of the film.
Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski had been approached to direct Batman Begins (2005), but turned it down to doing the Matrix sequels.
Monica Bellucci and Keanu Reeves previously co-starred in Dracula (1992).
Jada Pinkett Smith previously auditioned for the role of Trinity in The Matrix (1999).
Commander Lock is the only rebel that has a first name in the real world, but one would assume that Thomas Anderson is also Neo's real name).
    Final film of Gloria Foster.
Harry Lennix and Laurence Fishburne would play in Man of Steel (2013) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Lennix as General Swanwick and Fishburne as Perry White.
    Genevieve O'Reilly's debut.
The film takes place six months after The Matrix (1999). Incidentally, The Matrix Reloaded (2003) was released six months before The Matrix Revolutions (2003).
Aaliyah, who was cast as Zee, died on August 25th 2001. Before she died she became good friends with her later replacement Nona Gaye.
The switch-bladed weapons that the Twins use are actually old-fashioned straight-edged shaving razors.
The movie in the background that the henchmen are watching is The Brides of Dracula (1960). Monica Bellucci played one of Dracula's brides in Bram Stoker's Dracula's (1992)
Lambert Wilson's French accent as The Merovingian is intentionally exaggerated at the directors' demand. Wilson speaks English very well and said it was his only deception towards the movie.

20 years ago this was my first introduction to the Wachowski's biggest sci-fi franchise in Hollywood
I did not become a matrix fan until this one came out, still my #1 movie of 2003
I remember seeing it with my dad and my sister opening weekend
I absolutely loved this building upon the first movie's mythology expanding more
    with its philosophical ideas
Everyone of course wears the black leather attire, sunglasses, coats, and crazy hairdos when jacked in
Yes the movie is filled with so much dialogue being long-winded and at times the writing being pretentious
The leads come off as bland taking it so seriously
Still, The Wachowskis really stepped up from the first movie making incredible visuals, a futuristic perspective, and amazing action sequences
The Smith clone fight is the best action sequence in the whole trilogy and the freeway chase is continuously suspenseful
One of my favorite soundtracks too and the score by Don Davis is a great mixture of dub step meets orchestral
Still had one of the best cliffhangers in a trilogy
And thankfully fans have given it a critical reappraisal since its release
It has more than a handful of weighty topics; much more to say with the politics of choice, the existence of fate, and its importance
Is choice an illusion, everything is about causality, what if tomorrow war could just end; isn't that worth fighting for/dying for, is hope the delusion as our greatest strength and weakness, what is control?, we need machines and they need us
Plus it makes a statement on the insidious cycle of power even if it was too complex for people just wanting some kicks and flips
Seeing it as adolescence and teenage years with Neo still making his way through both the real world and the Matrix
Overall it's an massive improvement over the previous movie you just have trek through some rough patches

On the other hand, a prequel about the creation of the Matrix and the machines taking over, that could have potential. I think they should switch directors though, just to give the series some fresh air.

Agree. In my hometown we had a tiny theater, and none of us had seen the trailer for Reloaded before walking in there. Everyone gasped when 2 smiths appeared during the first mins in the movie, and later on when the big brawl was on we were at the edge of our seats

@Nigalas Cage In the cinema I saw it at, EVERYBODY got up and clapped during the Neo Vs Smith 2.0 fight, it was incredible! I don't mind that they included smith in the trailer, it made want to understand how smith survived the event of the first movie! :D

Even with the plastic Neo fight scene, this movie is my all time favorite. I mean nothing can compare to the perfection of the 1st movie, but I just love all the drawn out action, and the crazy plot of Revolution is delicious to me.

I just want to remind you that the actor Marcus Chong a.k.a "Tank the operator" was exploited by the wachowski brothers and warner bros. He was offered a total of only $250,000 for all 3 sequels, which he objected to and finally got arrested for allegedly threatening the studio. This is the dark side of Hollywood people. The sequel would have been a superhit with this actor.

Back when it took 2-3 days to ehem,, "download" movies from real sketchy sources and they were all like camcordered theatre screenings so the audios were all murky and distant like my relationship with my mum when she caught me with the computer not turned off during the night to download the movies.
