I would start with the PCV cheapest $3.00, Intake Air Sensor least expensive $20.00, IAC - idle air control, then MAF sensor most expensive. All but the PCV can be removed and cleaned with MAF cleaner allow 30 minutes to dry and then reinstall. Disconnect the battery prior to removing these items. If they are over 10 years old then consider replacing them if the cleaning does not help. MAF clear I'd less than $10 to clean all 3 sensors.
Mine turned out to be a MAF sensor. It was throwing no cords. Try cleaning the throttle body first. Then use MAF cleaner to see if that helps, which did not on my sensor. I unplugged the MAF sensor and the engine idle changed but did not cut off. So I got a new MAF sensor which corrected the issue.
For this engine bad MAF sensors will cause random misfire under load which also probably triggered the MAP sensor. Easy to tell with a scanner which one is bad. Sorry you had to scrap the L36.
So what fixed it? Never mind I saw you scrapped the car. Bummer it was probably a simple fix. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

did u ever figure out the problem? i have a 2000 ls with the 3800 and im going thru this right now... the car turns over when it feels like it... most of the time it'll start then immediately shut down
My 3.4 engine dose the same thing it will run great for awhile like months no issues then once in a why’ll it just stalls out. After priming the pump couple times I can get it going and drive a bit then stalls again and usually the second to third time it will run and stay good for another couple months it’s strange

For future viewers with this problem.. Clean throttle body and iac motor. That's a cheap repair and would likely fix it

Before you change the map sensor replace the PVC valve under it 5 dollar part no tools needed trust me
What device did you use to get the codes?
I put diesel in my gas tank it's the same engine 3.8 I had gas tank dropped and I I'm having problems with it turning over now

did you replace the IAC valve??
it was the maf sensor the car isnt going to idle with out the maf sensor.. pointless video waste of a good engine.
