Just when you think you have spent too much money on headphones and equipment; I can watch this and say to myself yea I'm good at least I haven't spent 7800ish on a clock. Thank You for making my spending seem reasonable.
Michael I like what I see on your face with your current setup. I think you understand what we were trying to tell you about the Susvara synergy/power requirement. When you get it dialed in there is no taking off that headphone and reaching another one. 😎
I don’t have kids but I still can’t afford the DCS Clock. But if I had kids, I could sell them to the Institute of Medical Experiments to get the money.
I had to choose between the DCS clock and a Rolex clock so I choosed the Rolex because it gives me more status in the neighborhood. No one is impressed by a black box.
Now you really need the LINA amp. Then you would have the ultimate reference system for anything. Everything solid state just goes down from here for an ultra transparent and linear system.
The HM-1 works IF you supply it with a higher voltage input. If you stage the DAC output at 6V or higher, the amp does well. On a standard 2V source it will struggle.
Oh, that's good then. I remember that from the earlier video, but I got the impression that even at 6V, the HM-1 was kind of at its limit with the Tungsten. I wish I understood a bit more about the electrical engineering behind input voltage gain and how that affects the amp's output.
@@ansel111totally depends on how loud you listen with Tungsten. I believe the HM1 has a built in gain of 6db and a max output voltage of 10V (maybe 10.5V?), so if you feed it 5V or higher you’ll get it’s max output power. Lower than 5V and you won’t.
Michael, You need to check out the BACCH 4 MAC stereo purifier. You can then get rid of 99% of your stuff. The headphone box makes everything else...worthless! Mr. Pete-----> aging hippie
@@x32i77 At that price-- I'd look at the WANDLA or if you go used (I only buy used) you may snag a Holo May or Hugo TT2 for that price. I'd probably look to the Holo over the Chord because the TT2 is so detailed, it's probably too much for the SR-X9000.
Can't say what the amp would do. The DAC is a good one because of it's gain staging abilities. The Wandla would also be a good choice, as you can stage up to 9V of output. That will help lesser-powered amps.

Yeah, it's definitely soothing to know one is still careful about spending, this is seriously expensive stuff 🤣
I'm here to serve! Thanks for watching.
This is the exact system i planned on building last year. Ended up going for a used Rossini and clock + the Hm1. Apex upgrade incoming.

You're not stupid Michael, you just don't have kids, so you have unlimited funds to spend on yourself. Life choices.

That's an incredible system for all of the TOTL headphones you own.
Well congratulations Director. I'm definitely no clock guy yet....
amazing review!! Way to go!!! We have same musical taste! Love The Clash 🙌
Oh my. 2 down…one to go. 😂
love yr impression of the zahl hm1 vs the Lina amp

I'll admit, I'm somewhat curious how the Lina DAC+Clock would stack up to another high-end DAC combined with something like an Antipodes K22 or K50.
you should do a blind test with clock off/on. I am quite sure you will fail ;)
Agree!
You’re not stupid Michael, you’re just passionate about your hobby, enjoy!☺️
Gosh, frustrating that the HM-1 isn't quite enough for the Tungstens. So close to a works-with-everything endgame SS amp.

Hi , could you recommend me a dac for the stax x9000 that matches very well
What is your budget?
@@DirectorsGarage 4000€ for DAC max I would say ^^ everything above is way too painful

@@DirectorsGarage I am looking out for stax dac-x1t but they are super hard to get . Holo May would cool yeah 👍
How the dCS stack runs Tungsten?

DCS Lina DAC and master clock are for peasants, we all know the DCS Rossini Apex and Rossini master clock is where its at!
👏 the rabbit hole never ends... or I should say: our pockets end first.
🍻 now you just need the Lina amp! 😅
I rather buy another set of headphones
Wise choice!
Did you end up keeping the tungsten?
Yes. Ryan is going to send me a double-sided version to compare at some point.
Cray Cray? Wtf 🤔
LOL. Right???
Clocks???... Its a set bra.. U need it like he1 needs its energizer.. Shift to e stat will u Its worlds best... Peace!
