Travel Vlog: Maui to Lanai (Day Trip)

- Hi my foxes, today you'll be visiting the island of Lanai. Sixth largest of the Hawaiian islands. Lanai is 18 miles long, with a population of approximately 3000. There are no stop lights on the island and only a few main roads are paved, many landmarks are accessible only by dirt roads.
If you plan to go exploring and get off the beaten path, rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle. However, if you're coming over from Maui on a day trip and just want to relax on the beach and walk around town (Lanai City), it's not necessary to rent a car.
After departing the ferry at the Manele Small Boat Harbor, it's a short 5 minute walk to Hulopo'e beach, a sunny white sand beach and marine preserve. It's an overall beautiful beach to relax on, snorkel, watch dolphins, enjoy a picnic, go for a hike along the coast... There are public restrooms, which were very clean and well maintained, might I add.
From the beach, you can walk up to the hotel overlooking the bay, the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele. It's plush, luxurious, and a room here will run you a cool $480 and up a night.
At the hotel, you can ask for a shuttle day pass, it's $10 per person and allows you to get on/off the shuttle all day. Though keep in mind, this is just general transportation, it only makes a few stops. It's not about to take you 4-wheeling or touring all the landmarks you want to see around the island. That's something you'll have to go for on your own. ;)
The Lanai landscape features contrasts ranging from white sand beaches with coconut palms swaying in the breeze to golden grasslands and rugged red earth to pine tree forests.
It's a small island but well worth exploring. This was a good day trip for relaxing. Though Michael and I always love an adventure, so I can see our next Lanai trip may involve 4 wheeling and getting a little dirty. ;D
We hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching!
xoxo,
Christine

Wonderful getaway!
For travel, I highly recommend hammam towels - they're lightweight, absorb water well, and can work as towels, blankets, scarves, sarongs, etc. I get mine on Etsy.
Omggg that beach was soooo beautiful! So jelly!

This is my favourite video yet! I've only been to Hawaii once and we stayed at Ka'anapali. Can't wait to go back. Maybe with a trip to Lanai. It looked so serene and peaceful. I was surprised at the pine trees. Pine and palm trees together.
When I pack, I say it's better safe than sorry. Whenever I try and pack light, it never fails, I always end up needing something I left behind, lol :D Thanks for taking us along on your trip. I really enjoyed this vlog!! :D

I can't wait to see ur vlogs from
Philippines,
I haven't been back since 2000,
Hope
U
Enjoy ur stay, by the way u are living in a paradise ahhh the beach beautiful water
Lovely place Christine, beach looked fab! 1 tip I learnt about travelling light in this situation is leave the towels at home and use sarongs instead. They do what you need them to do and are a hell of a lot lighter to lug around!! I spent 2 years travelling and copped on to that in Fiji which made my Australian and Asian travels a lot lighter on my back and shoulders! Get ones that are slightly thicker (even if that means buying the material yourself and sewing one up) and trust me you will only ever use towels for the bath/shower again!
Thanks for the peak at Lanai, next time we go to Maui looks like we'll have to get over there.
Thank you for sharing. I have always wondered what Lanai looked like. I have seen it on tv with Samantha Brown but I love getting that inside look. I like you background music too. I thought your bag was packed with good stuff. Really enjoy your life blogs! The pine trees were funny to see.
Thanks for sharing that Christine. I love your out and about vlogs.
That was so awesome! Lanai seems pretty small and touristy. They sure do keep it beautiful.

I have sensitive feet too and am very prone to blisters as well. Moleskin does help a lot though! And I also overpack everything, I've always been like that. Beautiful video, I love these types of videos . Gorgeous scenery.
