  • This light and creamy Russian cake is made into the shape of a volcano, to the delight of kids and adults alike! Find the full recipe here: allrecipes.co.u...
Like many Russian cakes, this is not the typical sponge you may be used to. A plain and a chocolate sponge are baked and then cut into cubes, then layered with pineapple, walnuts and a sweet creme fraiche. The result is a sophisticated taste that adults will love and a volcano shaped treat that kids will marvel at.
Be sure to chill the cake for at least 4 hours before slicing and serving.

Am I the only one who thought it was going to be some sort of exploding volcano cake? Kind of disappointing D:

Hi may I know what are some other alternatives to pineapples? Thanks!

RayneHiramis The pineapple provides a lot of moisture, but we think another canned fruit - such as peaches or pears - would work well. Fresh berries might also be lovely - try chopped strawberries or raspberries. Good luck!
