Brilliant Thank-you so much for this very informative video. I got the news about my dog and I immediately thought he only had months left to live. Thankyou for putting my mind at ease 😌

Thank you so much for this. I just lost my Chihuahua due to a ruptured chord.. It was sudden. I am extremely heartbroken and looking for closure. Your video explains exactly my questions. Thank you so much for what you do.

Im sorry for your loss. Did your baby show any symptoms? My 6 month old chihuahua dropped dead and we think he was born with a bad heart but showed no signs and looked so healthy.. im completely devastated and cant stop blaming myself for not doing more check ups even though i didnt know i should check his heart

@@mozaalbadi No, she coughed a bit the days leading up but she has always had the reverse sneezing from being a Chihuahua. We have video of her jumping on and off the couch just the night prior. Sometimes these things happen, it's breed specific. The vet said it is the leading cause of death in Chihuahuas.

I’m so sorry to hear about your pooch. My 13 year old yorkie also had a ruptured chordeae tendineae but she is still with us and the vets said we’re lucky because most don’t don’t survive the initial rupture 😔

Fantastic video and very thorough. Thanks so much! My dog was just diagnosed with Degenerative MVD so this was extremely helpful - like being in an Anatomy/Physiology class!

Are there treatments you can suggest for degenerative valve disease, specifically the mitral valve?

Is an echo required before giving medication? The vets office is telling us we may or may not need it after the x-ray and EKG. This is all getting very expensive unfortunately. I'm not totally understanding why we may or may not need the echo. He also has a tumor that may go down if he is neutered but we won't know if we will get the clearance for his heart for the surgery. He is 17 already and I guess I am struggling with calculating all of this.

They can’t tell what’s going on until they see the Echo test/xrays. Think about it they’re just going off your report of symptoms, etc. hoping for the best for your animal 💛

Thus disease management. What is the root cause of the murmur? A pathogen? Increasing minerals would support the heart.
