- This dress came out so well!! I can't believe it only cost me 25$ for the dress, and materials. It didn't require too much sewing and I think it would be easy to create. You guys can totally find a similar dress on eBay if you search empire waist! Will you use this method to create an easy regency dress?

Obviously Bridgerton is on Netflix. Bridgerton is based off a book series, which I haven't had a chance to read yet.

I have the same exact project, and coincidentally, for the upcoming Netflix Bridgerton Queen's Ball here in LA at the March-April! I found a dress at a vintage shop designed exactly as yours with the spaghetti straps and was also too small in the hips. Found different ideas in the last couple of weeks and found your tutorial today, just as I'm getting started on the project. You are a lifesaver, and I would say this was serendipitous!!
Oh yay!! Sounds so fun!! I’m so glad it helped you out! 😁
@ReenaBurt When you go to that Bridgerton Queen’s Ball, good luck and hopefully, you will be chosen the queen’s diamond.
It also looks Edwardian, as well. Rose could have worn this in Titanic with other accessories. And, it could have been worn in the late 60s/early 70s. Fashion really cycles.
This was a great video. Thank you. The only little quibble that I have is that you kept pronouncing the word “empire” as “umpire”. I had to stop the video to see what was going on the first time I heard it! LOL!
Lol yea I guess i do pronounce it that way 😂 I didn’t even notice till you pointed it out. I’ve lived in a lot of different places so maybe it’s just a wierd amalgamation of accents 😂
Wow. It's *wild* how simply adding puff sleeves and accessorizing right turned this from a 2000's prom dress to the perfect Bridgerton-take-on-Regency gown! This blew my mind. I think it helps that you found a fantastic, perfectly embellished prom dress!
Thanks for posting something that a beginner can actually do! I will be using this!
Yay! So excited 😁
That's such a great idea!! I'm heading to the thrift shop tomorrow and really hope I'll find something suitable!
Clever girl! No effort and the splendid final! Bravo!
Love your process on making the sleeves. I am going to convert one of my Renaissance dresses into a regency peice for a ball, and I was wondering how to do an easy adjustable cap sleeve. I am going to try it your way.
You really did a great job❤
very easy to follow, well done IAM REMODELLING MY SUNERESS THAT HAS SPAGHETTI STRAPS.
Wow! You just looked like a character from Bridgerton, Pride and Prejudice etc! The dress looked very nice on you!👏👏👏
Very imaginative and impressive. Well done! You nailed it!
Wow! This looks amazing!! I am in charge of costumes for a regency era play and I think I will definitely be using this technique
Oh yay! Glad it helped 😊
❤ love how you did the arm sleeves
Amazing job on the dress! Love that you paired gloves with it though I would have liked to see both gloves with the dress XD
Thanks for the upload!
Gorgeous ... love the sleeve idea..pure genius.. thanks for sharing
You made that look so easy to adapt that I think I might try this too. Beautiful dress! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! :)
Perfect
Thanks for sharing..
This is so clever!!! Love this
This dress is GORGEOUS!! What a cool project. ☺️
I just did this on a dress today! Thank you for the tutorial. Mine came out a little too tight in the waist for a regency dress (wish it was looser like yours) but it will pass for a costume. Thank you!
Yay that’s so cool! 😊
What a clever idea. I'm impressed.
Thanks! 😊
You are so funny ! lol Thank you! I have a halloween party at work. I will be Kate Sharma in bridgerton. You saved me - I was going to hand sew a full dress from scratch but I will do this instead.
Yay!! Thats so awesome :)
Great work. Looks really good.
AH! When I saw the finished dress I had no idea it was an old prom dress! How cool! Also loving all of the memes in this video.
Yea!! So easy to do I think I might do another one 🤗
I'm so happy impressed with your dressmaking hacks! Your gown is gorgeous!
One note: Your pronunciation of 'empire' waist is off a bit.
It sounds like you are saying 'umpire'. If you are trying to pronounce it in French, it sounds like
'AHM peer' with the first syllable slightly heavier. Otherwise it's acceptable to pronounce it like Empire State Building.
I am a costumer and am not as good at hack costuming as I'd like...glad I found your channel!
Yay thanks! Yea some other people mentioned I say it wrong as well lol 😆 yay hack costuming! 😁
You have truly inspired me and I love your dress. I'm going to start scouring thrift stores now for a dress. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much! ❤️
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns You’re most welcome.
The original dress is so hard to find and rare 😢 still love the new look
Loved the idea, gonna keep my eyes open next time I go to a charity shop 😁 Thanks for sharing 😍🥰
Yay! ☺️
Loved the project u did !!🥰
You are awesome! The journey from beginning to end was such fun (for me;) I am not seamstress and wish I had half your talent and vision. My daughter (adult) and I are looking to attend a regency ball. Such fun. Gowns, what to do?
Yay sounds so fun! 😊😊
Really loved the final look and how you produced it. Amazing idea. The problem in England is finding the perfect dress to start with.
Wish me luck, I need it in a month for a Secret cinema Bridgerton evening. Keep uploading those videos - Your so talented!
Wow that sounds so fun! I hope you can find the perfect dress! 😁
Wow great video !! I would totally buy this off of you !!
Thanks! 😁
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns if you decide to, I’m your girl ! Haha
Park was busy today.
So im following this to a tee. But i will say it's still hard 😂
Lol 😂
So beautiful….. if you decide to part with it in the future im willing to buy it….
I was wondering if the Bridgerton Queen’s Ball is in your hometown. If so, did you go, or gonna go? That gown is exquisite, my darling!
Where is the bridgerton queens ball? I would love go!
Love the tutorial. The narrating was a little hard to follow… it felt unedited and maybe a bit mumbly? But other than, great videos. It would just make future videos easier to follow
Yea I’m not making anymore videos like this. I’m no longer making videos on This channel or tutorials in general.
Really good video!
Thanks! 😊
Wonderful 🙏💗🥰📸🤩🧜♀️
this is really creative!
probably a stupid question, but how did you first start sewing, and how skilled would one need to be to dk this? I’ve never sewed in my life before with a machine and the last time I hand sewed was when I was a kid. now I am going to the Bridgerton ball and would love to dress up to the theme but don’t want to buy a costume because they’re all too expensive for one time wear or affordable but terrible quality and fit. if you have any tips, that would be much appreciated!
Hey! I started doing mending projects then I moved to commercial patterns, now pattern myself ☺️
Loved it. How did you find perfect lace for sleeves? Been wanting to explan a dress, thanks for the tip of triangle insert!
I just brought the dress to joanns and tried to match it, and glad it was helpful! 😊
I think it turned out great. And it looks awesome on you, almost like you just stepped out of a time machine from the 1800s! Excellent soundtrack choice, by the way. Also, I'm curious--when you go out on location, like to the park, do folks wonder what you're up to, or stop and chat with you?
Thank you so much!! Yes people act really nice sometimes smile and wave. Or some just stare at me lol one time I had a couple ask me to hold their baby.... 😂 some people cat call you, or ask you to make something for them too or what is it for or why I’m doing it.
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns Okay, I'm glad to hear that most people are nice and or friendly. I don't think anyone would ask me to hold their lol so I would take that one as a compliment! You must give off a trusting aura.
@@EverydayTape lol 😂 I don’t know why they did that 😂😂😂
I love this idea! I'm hardly a seamstress so this feels more like a project I can handle! I was wondering what the brand of your dress is? I absolutely love it and would really like to look around for it. Thanks so much!
Yay! I’m not sure what brand it was 😢 and it’s not with me at the moment to check but maybe looks up sparkly 2000s prom dresses it might come up 😊
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns No problem, thank you anyway for responding! I'll try that! :D
This turned out great! Would you be willing to sell it by chance? Beautiful work!
Thanks! 😊I don’t want to sell it because I made some mistakes on it and I feel bad selling sub par work
Should’ve added The Great to the list!
Oh yea!
Sanditon all the way. But then Jane Austen is my favorite author. Bridgerton was good but not on the same level and the costumes were not very accurate to the period or even all consistent - all kinds of different eras. But visually fun.
Do you sell anything you make?
Yes! I’m working on some patterns that should be out soon
Empire waist not umpire like a baseball umpire
lol yes 😂 I will make sure to say it right next time 👍
This polyester vibe makes my teeth squeak 😬
Rude
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns sorry, nothing personal, just polyester is the most horrible human invention ever 😢 and unfortunately Bridgerton just GLORIFIED this s**t and there’s a hole wave of decent people who fall for this 🤦🏻♂️ but you never can avoid it,it screams through the screens .I don’t understand how people don’t see it ,specially when it comes to historical clothing,it’s just makes my heart bleed and teeth squeak, sorry 🤷🏻♂️
@yevgenymashenberg2369 I get you don’t like polyester but the way you said it in the first comment was very rude and honestly self righteous some people can’t afford silks and also this was a thrifted dress saved from landfill.
@@CarolineDAmbrosioDesigns totally got you. I’m just fashion historian and a bit sensitive about the subject 🤷🏻♂️
@yevgenymashenberg2369 you could get your point across without being rude. I agree with you I don’t like polyester either but we can’t ignore the fact that there is a huge gatekeeping problem in costuming. Not mention tons of wasted polyester we could save from landfills. I try to save these fabrics from landfills and make something of them. A lot of people can’t afford silks, they should be able to enjoy costuming too without being shamed
Wow I love that! I just wore a nice dress to the Briderton Experience in LA for my vlog but something like this would have been amazing!
Perfect
