The reason why reffing has become so bad, mainly recently, is really due to two problems: - The referees union is one of the strongest, smallest, and tightest unions out there, really only rivaled by certain teaching unions, LEO unions, and electrical & communications distribution unions. These people don't ever really get fired, as evidenced by Scott Foster, who was with Tim Donaghy during the 2000s betting and fixing scandals, because their union is so strong. I'd suspect part of this is that nobody wants to be a referee, because that's like the kid in your grade school class wanting to be a hall monitor; it takes a special kind of person to want to be what is effectively a narc. Thus, by never really mulching over their ranks regularly, like any other job would, and being staffed likely by people who not only can't really play the game their officiating, but having no real skills elsewhere to work tangentially to the game, you're not getting people who have a really sound ethical & moral compass that would drive them to do the job correctly. As a very casual low level basketball player and viewer I can say that understanding what constitutes a foul and doesn't can be hard, but watching NBA games makes it even harder to understand
Looking forward for the nba to embrace automation and replace these boneheads with actual AI that's programmed to scan the entire court and assess the game in an unbiased and unemotional way (since they wanna go all terminator). that way we can avoid these stupid ejections just cause a stupid ref got his feelings hurt.
as someone who doesnt follow the nba half the time i have a question WHY DO THE REFS HAVE NUMBERS ???? strip all their individuality and kill their self importance
I started watching NBA basketball a few years ago. It’s sad that now I only watch highlights or not watch at all. I’m convinced the game is rigged. WHEN TF will refs be held accountable?!
It's funny how they can call every ticky-tack foul they can dream up but can't see a 5-step traveling call or carry dribble even though THAT is happening on almost every possession
The tech aside, Brunson jumped forward into the defender on that three which is akin to a kickout so he was lucky he didn't have a foul called on him. One of the few correct calls this season by the refs
I couldn't be an nba player these days. Catching one of these bogus fouls would have me fired for assault to some poor old deluded blind dude with a whistle. Oh there definitely will be something foul happening when I get through with the ref that would give me a bogus call. Wouldn't be in the league long at all with this nonsense going on. VERY obvious game fixing. They are not even trying to hide the shit.
The NFL called. They're letting you know about the refs: Misery loves company. In all seriousness: Refs are NEVER held accountable, in any sports. And that can give the suspicion of the game being rigged some credibility. One example: Ángel Hernández in MLB (they won't fire him because they don't want to be labeled racists for it), or Mark Geiger at the Gold Cup nearly 10 years ago in soccer.
I just cannot wait till robots take there jobs. This is getting ridiculous. No matter sport I've watched this year. Hey get your emotional ass out of the game ref.
they should make the players and referees watch classic playoff games from the 80's and 90's and 2000's to show the current players what fun, interesting ball looked like, that a mid-range game used to exist, and that flopping was frowned upon and happened rarely, and that NBA players were "men". Older fans, does anyone remember a player flopping like AD did last week versus Toronto (let alone a star) flopping like AD did, I mean something like that should be reviewed immediately, reversed and the Raptors get their 3 point basket, and AD should have been "T'd" up and the Raptors given a free throw in addition to their 3point basket
The Kicks vs. Rockets game is the closest to this result I've seen so far as the Knicks are filing a protest over the end of the game after it was shown there was an incorrect foul call. An overtime period may be played to complete the game.
Shit is just so inconsistent is the worst part. Like lebron can scream and harass refs for shit that wasn't a foul or the most ticky tac shit ive seen and not get techs or ejections and pingus zingus gets a tech for not even angerly tossing a ball up threw a hoop

She loves Michael Jackson so that moonwalk line had us both rollin' 😂
Some of these refs look like they're given the play book and don't agree with it.
As a very casual low level basketball player and viewer I can say that understanding what constitutes a foul and doesn't can be hard, but watching NBA games makes it even harder to understand
fines and suspensions for terrible calls should be mandatory
I don't have the self control to put up with this kind of shit on a regular basis. Someone is catching a basketball sized fastball in the face.
There's some fishiness going on with the refs probably betting related.
as someone who doesnt follow the nba half the time i have a question
WHY DO THE REFS HAVE NUMBERS ???? strip all their individuality and kill their self importance
So the fans can identify the garbage ones and shame them online.
The start of the vdeo is some of the best editing in RUclips history.
This is just blatant hate by the refs at this point
Bouncing the ball has always been a tech. But the refs are absolutely Lizard People.
Could the refs be betting again???? 🤔🤔🤔 Cause ain't no way they this incompetent
Two words. Legalized Gambling
the whistle gives me ptsd
Man between the NFL refs and the NBA refs this season has been an atrocious one to remember. These zebras are making the sport hard to watch smh
These refs have caused me to watch nba less this season. I'm so glad NFL is still going.
The tech aside, Brunson jumped forward into the defender on that three which is akin to a kickout so he was lucky he didn't have a foul called on him. One of the few correct calls this season by the refs
Idk how you find all these random ass funny tv/movie clips but you use them expertly 😭
this is how bad the nba’s marketing is right now. refs are the leading story.
4:23 that is the most punchable face I've seen, Tatum shouldve let him have it. If the players can be hit then so can the refs
Sports are rigged this what yall don’t get
They make it impossible to play defense unless they want you to
Nothing but facts, like always!!!!!
All year with these damn refs lawd 🤦🏽♀️
they should make the players and referees watch classic playoff games from the 80's and 90's and 2000's to show the current players what fun, interesting ball looked like, that a mid-range game used to exist, and that flopping was frowned upon and happened rarely, and that NBA players were "men".
Get rid of the refs already cause they fail to do their job. Do everything AI and stop this garbage it's ruining the game.
The issue is that they blame their mediocrity on others. It’s cowardly. And soft. I’m surprised no one has gone crazy on em.
I really want a coach and team to just walk out of a game one day after a terrible call or 3. See what happens when the product is gone.
The Kicks vs. Rockets game is the closest to this result I've seen so far as the Knicks are filing a protest over the end of the game after it was shown there was an incorrect foul call. An overtime period may be played to complete the game.
@@DaCommishDude yeah, I'm glad it's finally being addressed in a more official channel, as now the league is forced to make a decision either way
as an ex junior ref, i quit due to the power hungry "professionals" at the higher leval in AUS. its a global disease. in most sports.
Shit is just so inconsistent is the worst part. Like lebron can scream and harass refs for shit that wasn't a foul or the most ticky tac shit ive seen and not get techs or ejections and pingus zingus gets a tech for not even angerly tossing a ball up threw a hoop
I am so glad someone else finally sees this!
