It does matter a lot because it's best of both world. Take all your design, simulation, gaming experience in windows and do all your Development in WSL which runs a Linux kernel inside. What more does anyone want.

Yeah, but ChromeOS can run actual Linux sideloaded, not the gimmick Microsoft wants to advertise here, which still can't run desktop software with UI. Choose a decent Chromebook hardware and you get better performance, too, for development since Windows won't eat the RAM and CPU constantly.

Being a Surface Book 2 owner, issues to watch out for: 1. screen issues (ghost images, unintentional touches) 2. Nvidia software updates 3. power management issues 4. some serious issues with wifi connectivity Otherwise, amazing hardware upgrades!
I have my 13inch SB2 for almost 2 years now, no issues whatsoever.. guess Im one of the lucky ones. I'm gonna need a good excuse to buy this.. if they have 1660ti in their 13 inch models, I'm sold. Would need a travel laptop that can be both good for work and gaming.

It just creates a bit of confusion since the original comment was made. Kind of like how the iPhone always is advertised with wallpaper that hides the notch.

Very excited about this one. Loved that it was described as a *portable studio.* I built my business using only Surface products and that is really where the Surface Book shines: when you need to do create different kinds of things comfortably and on the go.
Absolutely love the Surface Book II, which I've used for the past two years. By far the best laptop out there IMO. I've been waiting for SB III and at long last, here it is. Going to buy the 15" with 32GB and Quadro GPU as soon as it becomes available.
Corporations or people with a business use for graphics. Quadro is better suited for professional applications and Geforce is more for consumer uses like gaming, but still professionally capable.
It only means you have to buy aa business Customer. BTW doesn't require you to have your company buy that for you. Just go to the store and tell them you want the quadro variant they will give you that of there might be more steps involved when purchasing but still one time problem

Original Surface Book user here, Legit this is the best laptop I have ever had, still editing videos + graphic and motion design + light 3D modeling + playing some games + drawing, if I got the chance I will upgrade to SB3 but now I'm pretty fine
Just wanna ask if the latch is any different from the first generation. The performance and latch reliability on the first gen was just woeful, not to mention the battery is buldging quite badly now. Just realized, 2020 and still no thunderbolt. Why not just switch to ryzen anyway.

I often hear the argument that offices use a NAS to store and access data, but remember that these devices are supposed to be portable and used on-the-go. I agree that 2, 4, or even 8TB sound a bit outlandish today, but a few years from now, 8k RAW footage will be common (just an example) and that eats up the gigglybits like there's no tomorrow 😄
I have a Book 1 with the Geforce 965M and i7 processor. Love it to death and back. I hope i never NEED to upgrade, but if i do, this is without a doubt the machine i'm saving up for. Microsoft has a loyal fan in me forever.
Yeah it's really amazing !!! I bought a Surface Pro three years ago and it's steel my main device until now. I never got a problem with it. It's not cheap at all, but it's worth.

The lack of the former is a bit disappointing but not a deal breaker for me... Not sure why everyone is up in a tizzy about this. The Surface port serves as it's "Thunderbolt 3" so to speak. A nice to have would be Microsoft releasing an accessory or 2 that utilizes the transmission rate that port brings.

Absolutely love the Surface Book II, which I've used for the past two years. By far the best laptop out there IMO. I've been waiting for SB III and at long last, here it is. Going to buy the 15" with 32GB and Quadro GPU as soon as it becomes available.

It only means you have to buy aa business Customer. BTW doesn't require you to have your company buy that for you. Just go to the store and tell them you want the quadro variant they will give you that of there might be more steps involved when purchasing but still one time problem

Just wanna ask if the latch is any different from the first generation. The performance and latch reliability on the first gen was just woeful, not to mention the battery is buldging quite badly now.

@@muadhnate Content creation uses up a lot of space; and so does data science. I often hear the argument that offices use a NAS to store and access data, but remember that these devices are supposed to be portable and used on-the-go.
I agree that 2, 4, or even 8TB sound a bit outlandish today, but a few years from now, 8k RAW footage will be common (just an example) and that eats up the gigglybits like there's no tomorrow 😄

I have a Book 1 with the Geforce 965M and i7 processor. Love it to death and back. I hope i never NEED to upgrade, but if i do, this is without a doubt the machine i'm saving up for. Microsoft has a loyal fan in me forever.

@@larserikle Yes but it is not something regular people need to worry, specially during social distancing and quarantine.... My guess is that they will skip the whole Thunderbolt 3 for USB4... The lack of the former is a bit disappointing but not a deal breaker for me... It is one of those features that is nice to have, but in the real world there are actually very few people taking advantage of it....
You can get most of the stuff you need throughout the surface port and the type c port anyway...
Not sure why everyone is up in a tizzy about this. The Surface port serves as it's "Thunderbolt 3" so to speak. A nice to have would be Microsoft releasing an accessory or 2 that utilizes the transmission rate that port brings.
