Given Guzma's backstory, it'd probably make a lot of sense for him to flat-out _hate_ Giovanni and Ghetsis and possibly become BFFs with Cyrus.
Guzma is the bad guy but he is the only one who doesn't have a dream of "destruction"

I had NO idea what this was, so I thought (based off the thumbnail) this was going to be a touching story about Guzma refusing the Teams and instead pursuing redemption and belonging.

If you think about it team skull isn't really an evil team. In sun and moon and Ultra sun and ultra moon they are a bunch of jealous deadbeats who are a cover up for the ather foundation. And some of team skull actually help the main character. Such as healing your team in their own base. Leave the password notes around. And let you pass by when they know your really strong. Guzma even helps you against Rainbow Rocket and in Ultra space. He tries to warn you in Ultra space to leave for your own safety. So team skull is definitely not a legitimate evil team. Team magma is the best!

With all these villain bosses gather together I realize that most of them are insane. Their plans include the extinction of either the human race, Pokémon race, or both. At least Guzman and Giovanni just want to cause trouble and steal Pokémon.
