Your videos are so helpful! Taking my first cruise April 29. In one of your videos you had on a turquoise dress and you said you posted the link. I can’t find it but I am desperately looking for that dress!! Can you post the link? I like this one too, but I believe the other one was aqua/blue with bare shoulders! Thank you!

Hi Ilana! For those insulated tumblers: soak a sponge in water, wring it out. Dribble dish soap on it, and work the soap into the sponge a bit and leave it out to dry. When it's dry, cut it into a few strips. Tuck them in a small zip bag. Now you can wash out the tumblers so your cold beverages don't taste like this morning's coffee. 😀 Toss the sponge pieces after they did their job

Is dish soap what in the U K we call washing up liquid ? To me dish soap is what you wash yourself with and comes in a hard bar. I had to read your tip twice then I realised you didn’t mean what I thought you did . What a fantastic idea.

Holland America has: shampoo conditioner, hand lotion, body wash (all in large wall mounted containers in the shower and next to the sink) lots of hooks, lots of storage space, ventilation and a/c are extremely effective, rooms have motion sensor lights on the floor that lead to and from the bathroom, beach towels, umbrella, makeup mirror, hair dryer, hamper, lots of data ports, lots of power outlets (with different countries’ power adapters). If you choose the soda package they give you a thermal, reuseable cup to keep. I was in an ocean view room but all of these things are available in every room at no cost. There is so much storage space that you can hang everything up and avoid wrinkles. I had a ton of clothes for a 3 week cruise and I wasn’t even close to using all the space. They also have a row of shoe cubbies you can use for other things. There was so much stuff that I bought that I did not need, so read up on the in-room amenities your stateroom will have on the cruise line you are sailing with. HA is very accommodating and I think if I asked for a Rubiks Cube they would have found one for me! HA is a more expensive cruise line but trust me, it is worth it! Also, I brought way too much to wear and lugging it to and from the airport was a nightmare. I was on a 3 week cruise and could have brought less than half of what I took with me. Once you are on board you’ll realize that you don’t care as much about wearing different outfits for different activities ( cold weather cruises may be different, I was on a Hawaiian cruise). I got up every day, pretty much just threw on a casual dress and nice (not flip flops) sandals. Sometimes I’d wear capris and a blouse. Things that could go anywhere, including dining. Changed out the jewelry and a fancier pair of shoes as needed. I even used some of my casual dresses and cover ups as pjs. I also brought a couple of fancier dresses and a jumpsuit for dressy nights. If you want to know all things HA I can help you out!

Hi Ilana, not sure if you're still checking for comments here or not, but one thing I wanted to mention that's helpful on cruises with beach days or destinations is a pop-up sun shade. My husband isn't one for sitting in the sun and since we like to go off the beaten path, we sometimes end up on beaches with no loungers or umbrellas. The kind of shade I'm talking about is actually like a small tent, but much more light weight and comes in a carrying case with a shoulder strap. It's like a flat disk when packaged, and operates the same way as the pop-up, mesh laundry "baskets" you recommend. It's been handy not just to get shade, but also to change in and out of swim gear in. It can be staked down or kept in place by weighting the inside, either with our belongings or with rocks. It zips closed for privacy. Another benefit of using it is that if we're both in the water, we can more easily keep on eye on it, both for protecting against theft and to orient us back to where we got in the water (sometimes it's hard to see where your lounger is on those really packed beaches). It shakes off well so sand isn't a problem and it fits in on top of our clothes in our bigger suitcase. There are a ton available on Amazon. Cheers.

One of our favorite cruise essentials (ok, all kinds of travel essentials) is an assortment of cotton bandannas. Many restrooms in ports run out of paper towels or have only hands dryers, which we don't like. Also, if you get hot, you can wet them down and put them around your neck. There are truly dozens (of not hundreds) of uses.
I also bring "potty packs", snack size zipper bags with toilet paper. I usually break the TP into 4- square lengthsand fold them up. A true life saver.
Finally, I make Thieves Oil hand sanitizer, which also works well for deodorizing.

I have also decided the end of the carry on. One suitcase and a small duffle. That will be it. After 2 medium size bags and a carry on and a small backpack on my 2 week and then 1 week in Europe cruise, I was exhausted especially trying to put all that luggage on and off a train. Never again. One bag, and a small duffle should do it.

The bathroom doors in the cabins are noisy. One thing I always bring is a stretchy headband. I put it over the bathroom door handles inside and out, twisted then stretched around to cover the latch. It is so much quieter when one gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

Your 50 Cruise Essentials video is amazing! I love that you move through the items quickly and provide all the links for us to explore if they are of interest. I am a long-time cruiser but have not cruised yet since the pandemic...you reminded me of all the tips and tricks I knew (but forgot) AND some great new ideas as well,
    Just a couple of thoughts:
The over the door hanger organizer can be used on the outside of the bathroom or closet door for non-toiletry items like sunglasses, tickets/lists or notes, sunscreen, hats, bug spray, flip flops etc.
If people are bringing wrinkle type clothing (tux or gowns etc.) they can roll (or fold) items in dry-cleaning bags (which seriously works amazing!) so they may not need a garment bag.
Might seem weird, but remember to use the night table drawers! They are great for snacks, meds, electronics and first aid kit.
Also, just want to remind people to be kind to each other...there is still a pandemic going on and we need to be considerate of everyone's health boundaries while cruising.
Keep up the great videos...I am a fan!

Hey Ilana... that Blue anti theft bag.... take an extra empty key ring and clip the two zipper clips to it to add additional security to deter anyone from trying to unzip it while you are in large geoup areas or even if hanging feom a chair. You will notice when they start tugging at it or it will take longer for them to try to get in and they will give up in pretty much short order.

We cruise 🛳 with DCL so magnetic 🪝 and clips are essential since you can't hook things like organizers over your door. We like towel clips over bands plus it's easier to spot your stuff when you're on the ⛱. The larger travel cup is another thing that's a must there too as those cups at the drink stations are tiny (fountain drinks are included with them which is a nice perk). We also always bring decorative magnets for our door 🚪. Disney people are the definition of Extra (but in the best way).😆 🤣

Passport purse was also great everything we needed was at hand and it fit into the safe on board and that's where it stayed. Also purchased the waterproof phone case and we loved them. The phone fits nicely along with our cruise card and money and credit cards, didn't have to worry about leaving valuables on the beach when we were in the water.

Ilana your videos are always spot on! One more packing essential for us is an electrical powerboard for all your charges or other electrical items - Turn one powerpoint into 4 or 5! For us international travellers (we're from Sydney, Australia), we obviously have to bring a power adaptor aswell - but again - one power socket + one adaptor + one powerboard from home - turns one power socket into 4! Happy Trails!

Just so everyone knows, DON'T pack your non-surge power strips in your carry-on, pack them in your checked bags. Ours were confiscated during our embarkation at the terminal. You can talk to anyone on board and they will not release them until you disembark back at your home terminal.
Llana, I highly recommend you MENTION my experience in your future videos as we were not able to charge our devices during our cruise and Guest Services did not have any loaners. We had to ask our neighbors for one.
BTW, this happened on our RCL cruise on the Adventure of the Seas this month.

Thank you Ilana. One other item we like to bring is a night light (battery operated) that stays “on” - no need to move to get it to turn on. Sometimes the staterooms are so dark you can’t see at all so we find it helpful to have one on low constantly. Also, the fan you suggested would be good for us that like a little “white” noise as well as the air circulation. Thanks again.

I use towel bands, never tried the clips but i feel the bands work just fine. They're easier to pack and dont break. I use several of the same things you suggest, great ideas as always. Im so excited about the magnet night light! I need that, I was going to pack some clocks we have w/night lights but that is a great option. I will be shopping extras from your list for my Aug 23 cruise. Thanks! Instead of a large beach bag I have everyone carry a backpack so they can have their own towel, water bottles, and snorkel gear. I'm not a camel I only carry my own lol. I dont think you've missed anything, I try thinking about travel stuff I pack for trips and you've mentioned them all!

Hi Alana, One of the things I take on cruises now that I didn't take before the shutdown in March of 2020 is a first aid kit and that is because the medical center is not open 24 hours it has open times and times it is closed so having a first aid kit makes me prepared in case I get a small cut and I find that it is not worth going to the medical center on a cruise ship for just a small cut. It is also recommended to take a first aid kit with you when you get off the ship especially for going on shore excursions.

Hi Ilana, your videos on travel tips have been very helpful.
My 74 year old aunt and I cruise semi regularly.
Here’s a tip that we’ve found as a great idea which works for us. We take our old underwear, eg: bras and knickers on the cruise along with some paper bags. After wearing these items we place them in the paper bag and throw them away. Essentially we put these items aside during the year, take them on the cruise and not return home with them. No one ever sees these items so no problem.
I so enjoy your video clips, you’re doing a wonderful job.

Lots of good tips! Love towel clips. Coffee - I’m a coffee snob, don’t normally drink Starbucks, but their instant packets are usually much better than “free” hotel or cruise coffee, and on Disney cruises you can get hot water at the drink station (I don’t know about other cruise lines.) I drink black unsweetened coffee all day.

I watched a video tour of our cabin (well, not our exact cabin, but you know what I mean) and took note of the outlets. There were two European outlets, so I bought two adapters, which each have four North American outlets, two USB-A outlets, and a USB-C outlet on it. The only thing to be careful of is the voltage (e.g., most hair styling tools have too much voltage), so be careful of what you use with it!

I just make sure to put bottles with liquids and toothpaste in each a small ziplock bag first to avoid nasty spills, if I put in my suitcase and travel by plane, I’ll even put a clip wrap under the caps and twist caps properly before packing… never had a spill but it’s all to avoid it ;)
