- Hey everyone and happy October and that can only mean one thing...HALLOWEEN! Who's excited? I know I am! So for todays video I created my very own bald cap as it is a cheaper alternative and also good as you can create your own gradient line as some bald caps can look quite fake once applied. Things You Will Need
Balloon
Measuring Tape
Vaseline
Talc/Baby Powder

Yeah it is cheaper to make your own liquid latex with 4 things you probably have in the kitchen and if you don’t it should be at dollar general
. 1/4 cup cornstarch
. 1 tbsp Coconut oil
. 1 packet Unflavored gelatin
. 1 cup water
Heat it in a pan until it boils and thickens
Is it really good?

If you use a catheter clamp or barrette on your balloon, when you're done, just release a little air first, then blow up the balloon a little larger and the rubber layer will peel right off and undamaged. :)

7-10 layers of latex. I would give up after 3. Its very cool what you did. Very creative

I love this! What I really want to make is an alien-looking bald cap, so I guess I'll have to use more latex to create creases and bumps and bones where there are none, but this is a great beginning!

I used face & body cream (nivea) instead of vaseline. Also, I had no sponge so i used a piece of fabric. It gives the cap a strange texture, but I'm gonna go as an alien, so that's perfect for me.
This was so cool! I am all about DIY stuff like this! especially if its for one use i don't want to spend a ton of money on a bald cap. What a great tutorial! I love tedious stuff like this! Perfect for halloween!

Use a redhead form instead of a balloon and encapsulate it with bald cap encapsulator mixed with acetone to strengthen it and make the edges easier to blend when applied.
Because you can just melt them into the skin with acetone same like you do when applying prosthetics.

Is it safe to use water-based paints on these caps? Or will the paint come right off or ruin the cap? I'm looking to do Sans, Papyrus, and W.D. Gaster cosplays in the near future.
This is such a cool idea! I've never thought of making one myself! Can you use it multiple times, or is it not durable enough? I t would be awesome to use a handful of times for multiple parties or what not!

sure, i don't see why not? I used a lip balm on one of my others- i only used vaseline in the video as it is widely recognised :-)

I have a question, I am trying to be wong fei hung a chinese fighter with a queue for halloween. How do you glue just to half your head? can I glue the latex to the hair or should I glue it on a head band? thanks in advance
Sharon Bear wow cool!! I wouldn’t glue just half of it were me because latex will be a nightmare to get out of your hair. I’d recommend using a full head bald cap then buying a wig, cut the wig in half and glue the wig to the bald cap. Just apply the bald cap as I’ve said so here and put latex around your hair line then put the wig on top. Bit more expensive to do so as you have to buy the wig but I really wouldn’t want you to get latex/glue stick in our hair. Hope it all goes well! Sounds like such a cool idea xxx

Alexandra Nuzzi I would say if you look after it then yes up to 3-6 times. If you decide to wash it between uses just remember to powder it over again so it doesn’t stick to itself 😊

in all honesty, im not sure? The DIY bald caps aren't as strong as shop-bought ones so i would say no to be on the safe side, but maybe if you're careful with it then it may work? x
