    So I made the Curry earlier today and I must say, it turned out much better than expected! I also added rice as a side and it was very flavorful along with the curry. My mother loved this recipe as well. :) Though we're Mexican haha, but we love trying different foods.

    My mother's curry was leftover cooked-to-death roast mutton with stale curry powder and raisins. It was 1970s New Zealand, and I'm glad to have been able to learn to make it properly from people who know what they're doing.

    I made this and it was so good it was the second time I used black cardamon, the first time I used them was to make your yellow onion gravy which was also excellent. I have loved Indian food for a long time but have always found it difficult to find a good restaurant but both these curries are better than anything I have ever had so thanks a million. I must admit I almost get as much enjoyment from the whole cooking experience from roasting and grinding the spices as I get from eating it.

    Prior to making this recipe, I thought that "curry" was just a particular spice. I'm glad I tried this as my introduction into Indian cooking as I really, really enjoyed making it. I like my food spicy so only added a cup of water and let it simmer for a few hours. Truly delicious, thank you!

  • @chefharpalsingh
    @chefharpalsingh  10 лет назад +85

    Yes Brian there is a difference if you cook chicken on bone against boneless, the earlier one remains soft and adds to the body of the gravy..

    • @chefharpalsingh
      @chefharpalsingh  10 лет назад +1

      Yes with bone adds to the body of the gravy and for boneless you need to add stock to the gravy..

      chefharpalsingh hi, is that curry a bit watery? I use ground spices, but I use much more tumeric than in this video and in most recipes..I don't think mine is correct but I don't like when bland. In most recipes, it is always teaspoon of spices, but I use way more, is this ok?

    • @chefharpalsingh
      @chefharpalsingh  10 лет назад +2

      Too much turmeric kills the final taste, this curry is not rich like other curries..

I lived in Italy most of my life and now in the US. I am crazy about Indian food. This recipe is so simple yet absolutely delicious, so much better than what you get in most restaurants. Your comment on how you enjoyed his dish is something I look for when I watch these sort of vids..
      I once seen a vid on curry chicken,, and it did not come out well at all, I ended up throwing away all my chicken, what a waste of time.
      Seeing as you made THIS curry by THIS Chef - I'l try it.
      Oh here is a tip for all you pressure cooker people.
      I used my pressure cooker with chicken and once cooker starts to steam, I reduced the heat to a little more then a slow boil. Steam was still shooting out of the cooker... 15 mins seems too much and slightly over cooked the chicken legs. I just touched the chicken and it feel apart.
      So I think 10mins to 13mins would be better more firm ( I GUESS ) haven't done it yet,,, \But for me 15mins is way too much.
      good luck all

    boned chicken has fat ,skin tendons and joints that get boiled into the curry that adds to the flavor. If you use lean boneless chicken breast it dulls the curry and you need to add a chicken stock to make up for the lost flavor

    Those who get watery dish, you need to cook the dish until the water has evaporated. It happens because the chicken you put in wasn't precooked.
    Marinate the chicken and then cook it in the oven. Put that chicken in the gravy and mix it well for 10min.

    Great recipe. Thank you from the UK! My Dad who is no longer with us did his National Service in Delhi and had to travel around India. He was there for partition as well. He loved curry and got us - his 4 daughters into curry from a very young age. I’m making chicken curry for tonight’s dinner! My family love it!

    I've been cooking Indian food for decades and always grind all spice fresh on the day and make my own garam masalla. However, I'm always looking for new twists on recipes and I must say..., given the simplicity of this recipe, isn't bad at all and thoroughly recommend all those inclined to try it. Thanks to both yourself and your Dearest Mother.

    I just tried this recipe and it turned out great! I forgot to add the ginger/garlic paste and realized after I had added the water... I added the paste in at that point and it still worked out thankfully.
    Thanks for the recipe Harpal!!
