This is one of the places we visited where we actually asked the staff what we should get so if we’ve missed something… it’s on them 🤣🤣🤣
They let you down, they should have recommended salsa! It’s a must with Tex-Mex food! Also sides of guacamole and sour cream.
I usually do the burrito BOWL, rather than the actual burrito... otherwise, I think you did pretty decent.
Yeah they did advise you all wrong…weird. At a place like Chipotle adding the salsa is a must. I usually get my guacamole on the side, I just prefer it that way. I think Chipotle has some of the best guacamole out there…just my opinion 🙂. Anyway, if ever you all have the chance to eat there again, I would also recommend getting the salad bowl (with shredded lettuce instead of the usual big chunks of lettuce they use for salads) and make sure to tell the cashier it is a salad and ask for the honey vinaigrette dressing they make. It is yummy!
Though it may not sound like a typical salad, I usually get the shredded lettuce, white rice, light pinto beans, chicken, extra salsa, (sometimes I add the corn salsa too for a little kick), and cheese. I get the guacamole and any other sauces on the side, get a small bag of chips, and two containers of the honey vinaigrette dressing. I scoop the guacamole with the chips and eat it along with the salad. Try it if you ever have the chance to do so again. Sorry for writing a lengthy post.
Mexican is easy to make at home. You guys can easily do it if you guys can find the basics.

At this point I firmly believe if they used salsa or sauce on anything they would spontaneously combust. So that would not be good.

Going in to this, wondering if they will yet again eat plain unsauced bland naked food... yep. Whoever stole all the condiments in Britain needs to be called to account.

If you guys are going to review food in America like Tex-Mex you have to use salsa, taco sauce or whatever's available to make that dish saucy and not dry. We are big on adding sauces/condiments to our food.

Tex Mex? More like Cal Mex. Steve Ells was inspired by the local taquerias in San Francisco California. Where Mexican food was being prepared before it even became a state.
Millie saying that you can expand your dinner options and make this kind of food at home is actually the highlight of your whole trip for me.
Y'all still need to learn to use salsa- that steak taco would not have been dry with a just a little salsa added, and the burrito you loved would have been another level with guac and maybe even a bit of sour cream.
I am with EVERYONE else. Get some kinds of salsa. I get the Roja (red sauce) on my chicken tacos. You can get it on the side as well. But get the Salsa at some point on your food. Everyone gets the burrito for 2 to 3 meals. They are huge. I love Chipotle.

This is a fast-food Mexican, the salsa is like a bottle of Pace.
They don't understand that salsa should be added to everything. They don't even get that you should always put syrup on pancakes and waffles.

Carnitas burrito is always the way to go! Add hot sauce or salsa and ALWAYS add guacamole.

I agree with Millie! Chipotle is my favorite fast food! It tastes fresher and more healthy.
I used to work at Chipotle... EVERYTHING is made Fresh.. EVERY DAY!! That's the one great thing about it!

I at at 3 locations in 3 different states and got the runs each time. I’m never going back. Las Vegas location I was p!ssed, they had a B rating and now I know why. I was so mad I sprayed the bathroom wall before I left. Which is no big deal because women have mastered the hover over public restroom toilets. If you hover and lean forward, you can aim at the walls. Move side to side to spray it. Hopefully they properly wash and handle their food better. 🤢

@@mprice6683 chipotle is fast food mexican can only be compared to mexican fast food like taco/food trucks, street vendors, hole in the wall local chain mexican or chain mexican like taco bell, del taco. it beats taco bell and del taco. the salsa and sauces are bland, and the meat is not well seasoned like authentic mexican street food even. and I live in southern california and just about ALL the ubiquities mexican food places here beats chipotle by a MILE. Even the shady ones that are rated B & C.😆chipotle is probably the healthiest and most fresh like @chrispruett81 says, but that's about it.
I have to agree… for one chipotle is really a burrito place. Tacos came later. They have different sauces/salsa plus sour cream and guacamole. What’s the aversion to these? That is what makes them. (Makes it not dry and combines good flavors)

If there is a bottle of Tobasco "Chipotle" sauce by the other bottles of Tobasco, near the napkins and cutlery, grab it, bring it to your table and just pour on a bit before taking each bite. It is life changing!!
Do Brits not like salsa? Amazing flavor you're missing out on. Please start asking the servers how best to eat foods you're not familiar with. You're missing out.

I agree with Millie. Chipotle is my favorite fast food. Really good guacamole, their barbacoa is wonderful as well as many of their meats.
Carnitas is usually really delicious.

You need the pico, medium salsa, corn salsa, and guacamole on the tacos and chips. Pro tip is to always use the chipotle Tabasco sauce as well.
I don't think their very delicate Brit pallets could handle that much spice.
They need to build up to it, and acquire a spice tolerance.
@@jonok42 medium chipotle salsa is hardly spicy by any metric and chipotle Tabasco is basically barbecue sauce.
I can eat Chipotle almost everyday. It's technically not fast food, it falls under the category of fast casual but its good stuff.
You can usually make a burrito last for lunch half then half for dinner. Chicken burrito bowl is my go to for lunch then half for dinner.

A burrito bowl from Chipotle or Qdoba can easily feed me for two-three meals. So delicious and worth the price for sure why it can feeds you more than once!
You all need to add salsa - that's what it's for - and it really adds to the awesome taste!! There's red sauce you can put on the tacos and the burrito - Please try using the sauces/salsas that are meant to be eaten with this type of mexican food! Huge difference in taste and moisture levels !! You all eating just dry and plain . .
You will like it 1000 times more than you do!! PROMISE!!! Sorta like you need to really add the maple syrup on your pancakes and waffles/ chicken and waffles!! That's what it's for and how it is eaten!!! By the way: Queso - pronounced K-SO . . .
Chipotle is by far my favorite Mexican fast food chain. Love their burritos, as well as their hard shell tacos! Their taco shells have that nice taste of lime to them, just like their chips.
Imagine thinking your way of eating something, is the best and only way to eat it. Just because you think it’s good, doesn’t mean everyone else is wrong for not agreeing.

I love queso. Growing up, my family always had tacos for supper and as an adult I fix tacos from time to time. It is nice to have other food besides burgers. Chipotle is good. It is funny that you say so many of the restaurants are reasonably priced because the prices are SO much higher than just a few years ago.

I'm with you Millie. I love Chipotle. I usually get the bowl. I eat half the first night and then the other half the next night. I always get some sour cream. It mixes it together and keeps it moist even after microwaving the next day (or two).

I notice that it takes 2 or 3 trips to USA before Brits get to road trip exploration of anything other than our FOOD!! You guys have to explore more...National Park System... Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Mesa Verde.

You have to try their guacamole with the chips with one of the bowls. Also, it didn’t look like you all tried any of the sauces on anything. That also enhances the flavors.

Chipotle hack: get a bowl with extra whatever you like (they only charge extra for protein).....then get 2 tortilla at $.50 a piece...learn how to properly roll a burrito and you’ll have 2 for the price of one.

I prefer real Mexican food, but if I'm going to eat fast food Mexican then I prefer Cafe Rio to Chipotle. Much better food.

I love Chipotle! I used to get it almost every day.
My go-to order Sofritas Bowl, Brown Rice, Black Beans, Fajita Veggies, Lettuce, Corn Salsa, Hot Salsa, Cheese, Sour Cream, Salad Vinaigrette, side of chips and guac!
Their crispy corn taco shells are amazing.

I get the burrito bowl and chips. I heat the chips in the microwave and use them to dip into the bowl. It's delicious!
Double wrapped Steak burrito, white rice, black beans. Lettuce cheese sour cream. Corn and hot salsa. It’s been my order for years. Grew up eating at the flagship in Denver. Chipotle is one thing I wish was available where I am now.

I love their steak and shrimp fajitas. One of my fav meals from any restaurant.
best chipotle order - double meat steak/barbacoa, white rice, pinto beans, hot salsa, corn salsa, cheese and sour cream, with chips and queso.
I do the same but with black beans and brown rice, extra sour cream, corn salsa & hot salsa is a heavenly combo.
Chipotle is easily my favorite fast food spot. Cheap, filling and fresh.
I'm not a Chipotle guy. But you always need to add Pico De gallo...anywhere you go.
People bag on Chipotle but it really is a decent place to go. It's particularly good if you're doing keto because you've got so many mix and match options. When Chipotle is fresh and good and the chips aren't stale it's at its best.

Chipotle & Chick-fil-A are my favorite. Maybe that's partly to do with them being fresher. I love different restaurants for dominant food on the menu.

@@rich_t Ha ha. When I was quite young, I put ketchup on everything - including hotdogs, which I didn’t really like. Then… I tried a hot dog with just mustard and onions, loved it, and never put ketchup on a hotdog again!

Chipotle burrito bowls (mostly chicken, but steak as well) are very addictive. I usually put all the toppings except guac and grilled fajita veggies. They used to have unlimited supply of sliced lemons to squeeze on top years ago but nowadays you have to ask the staff for it as a courtesy.
Looking forward to Millie making the pork carnitas at home. I make mine in a slow cooker. Very easy.
You may use the foil wrapper and make a diaper for the burrito. It helps against dripping and also if it wants to fall apart at any time.

Guys, I understand that there is a general consensus that salsa or sauce would have enhanced their experience. I even agree that is likely. However, can we all just chill? Let people try new things and eat it how they like. If you don't know, you don't know. Plus, they asked the workers here. Let's all maybe spread a bit more positivity to this lovely fanily, that's all I'm saying.
Chipotle Burrito Bowls are a staple for me! Chicken is my favorite. My husband loves the tacos and usually gets them with crispy tortillas instead of soft. Love their guacamole and chips as well! You should try it next time. Glad you got to experience it!
Most fast food / quick-casual type places have highly processed, warehoused, frozen, etc food. Despite my complaints in my other comment I do appreciate that Chipotle is largely fresh and prepped daily/weekly in the store or in a meta-kitchen for just a collection of regional locations rather than some centralized cardboard-happy warehouse like so many places do.
I can think of only a handful of fast/casual places that do this (it's more common in pricier restaurants, delis, and grocery stores, but not in casual dining). It definitely makes the experience much more positive in both atmosphere and nutritionally, and I'm happier spending money in these sort of places than at McDonald's / etc.
Whenever I go to Chipotle, I usually get a chicken burrito bowl with a mix of black & pinto beans and brown rice. I always get some type of salsa and queso on it. 😋
Before I ever saw a Chipotle, there was Anna's Taqueria up in Boston/Cambridge area of Massachusetts. There is where I first tried a super-burrito and it was so good! When I moved back to the west coast of US there was no more Anna's Taqueria but Chipotle started to gain prominence and I was able to satisfy my super-burrito fix. I don't go there anymore because things have gotten too expensive but 8-10 years ago, it was great!
Add the sauces!!! That's the best part of Americanized foods!!! We make it better!

American "Queso" sauce is just velvita american cheese melted and mixed with salsa, the salsa is a tomato, onion, and chili based sauce
Chipotle and Panda Express are very similar in the respect they make everything fresh in store everyday. You will pay more for all the fresh cut veggies, marinaded meats and such. But it's pretty good for fast food.
oh dang... I want tacos so badly right now! Glad you dug it! And yeah that' burrito is a day's worth of food right there. Also, total respect on the DIY attitude. There are great resources online for all manner of Mexican/Tex-Mex/etc (I live in New England so I'm in the northeast). We generally do a once-per-week meal around here we call "vaguely Mexican."

Chipotle is the best Mexican/Tex-Mex fastfood chain. Definitely need to watch a video tutorial on how to hold and eat a taco. Queso = Kay So🤣♥️
Chips with their guacamole is better. Also, just think of k-so for the pronunciation of queso. 👍
Suggestion - The taco needs to have sauce added to it. If you hold the taco horizontal at all times and twist your head to take a bite you will have less spillage :)

Yum love Chipotle - my go to order is a Burrito Bowl with Half Chicken and Half Carnitas, White Rice, Black Beans, Grilled Fajitas veggies, Corn Salsa, Sour Cream, Cheese and Guacamole ….then the pro move is to ask for a Salad dressing and pour it all over before you begin eating. Delicious! That Salad dressing brightens up the entire dish and adds some zing to it.

Yum!! Did the staff not ask you what kind of salsa you wanted? (That’s always big hint that it’s expected you need/are expected to use salsa 😄).
Can you guys just imagine how much better all that food would have been if you had actually used the salsas? I cannot imagine a burrito or taco, especially the carnitas without pico de gallo, and Millie, pico de gallo is super easy to make at home too!!
