- I took my German husband to Charleston, SC for 24 hours! We spend a day checking out the historic downtown Charleston area and it was Phil's first time in the Atlantic on this side of the pond! :P We always wish we had more time in a city, but we were thankful to see as much as we could while we could! :)

Charleston is such a beautiful city! But I’m glad you included the slave history as well to paint the full picture. So fun you use to live there, Deanna! It’s also SO HOT in the summer - so humid.

I remember visiting the Atlantic Ocean when I was 12. Was in Delaware visiting an uncle. Almost stepped on a horseshoe crab and was rewarded with a sunburn for the fun I had at the beach. Ah, memories! 😎

the mansion homes with big front porches and columns are called antebellum style ones from the 1700's is actually called colonial style charleston is a beautiful city id love to live there i love your guys videos yall are just so cool you should try visiting the bristol motor speedway its a nice area here specially in the fall

Hayden, honestly I am a German living in Charleston for approx. 7 years and I still don't know what locals mean by good food? Where should I go? For us Germans the "Preisleistungsverhältnis" is an important component in deciding whether food is good. Sure, Halls Chop House serves excellent food but at that price point it is actually ridiculously average, in my opinion. Food in Charleston is way too expensive for the quality you get, in my German opinion. So, I said it: going out in Charleston and coming home feeling like you were charged a fair price for what you got, is very difficult.
I love Charleston area! We visit Isle of the palms a couple times a year 🏝❤

Born and raised in Charleston. Lived near the battery where are you guys visited and would go surfing at the washout on Folly every weekend. Such a great place to grow up!

When you continue your trip to the South as here mentioned Savannah is a recommendation. And you need to visit a Plantation.

I have heard of Savannah a lot. What exactly is there to do there? Is it things to see and do? Or is it the vibe of the city. I visited there long ago for only a day so didn't get to see much.
I love Charleston, have taken several girlfriends there, spent my honeymoon there, and this week I'm taking my new girlfriend there. I live in the mountains of western North Carolina and have just driven down there to eat some fresh seafood, see the sights, and walk on the beach for the day, then drive back home that night
We got married here, and return every 5 years because we love Charleston!

I use to live on Folly, about a block of the beach though. Funny thing is, I hardly ever went to the beach. That was my first place when I moved out on my own, and it was all about partying at that age. Glad you enjoyed your first visit to Charleston Phil, come back and see us again.
I like the stories of your trips. I'd love to see you enjoy a college football game, say in Oxford, Mississippi, or Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge. You don't have to be a fan of football but being a big fan of parties helps a lot. I think y'all would fit right in.
What a nice town to visit. Sad that many of your favorite restaurants are no longer there probably due to the pandemic but what a beautiful sunset and the beach. Yay!

Wir haben in Charleston zufällig erfahren, dass dort 1986 „Fackeln im Sturm“ gedreht wurde. Die „Boone Hall Plantation“ ist ca. 20 Minuten mit dem Auto vom Zentrum entfernt und sehenswert. Auf dem Weg dahin kommt Ihr am Flugzeugträger „USS Yorktown“ vorbei.

PLEASEEE go to Savannah! The historic district is larger and it's less pretentious. There's also no open container law in Savannah, so you can drink in public like in Germany :) There's a bit of a rivalry between Charleston and Savannah, but to me, Savannah is way better without question. Sorry, Deana 😊

And the beach is facing southeast, so if you sail in the direction where you are looking, you'd end up around Angola.

you should have went on a carriage to get your history right. the horses are very well taken care of. covid closed a lot of local places that weren't able to stay open.
